We were staying at Eithinog Hall and the owners recommended The Goat Hotel for dinner. We were delighted and had a thoroughly lovely meal, we had a lovely chat with the staff, and so enjoyed our evening, we returned for a second helping the following night. A great choice of both food and beverages. A lovely village with lots of history to explore afterwards to walk off your excesses!

A lovely friendly traditional Welsh pub with great home cooked food. Excellent starters of chicken liver pate with plenty of toast and salad and an exquisite squash and blue cheese soup with fresh whole meal bread. Our main courses didn’t disappoint; my husband said his fillet steak was perfect and my vegetarian dish, mushroom stroganoff with brown rice, was very tasty. Highly recommended, we will definitely eat there again.

Traditional Welsh Pub - what a little gem. Quite possibly the best Fillet steak I have ever eaten, cooked to perfection, could have cut through with a butter knife. Partner had the faggots - very tasty. Attentive staff, good beer. What more do you need? Will definitely be back.

Weve spent two happy lunchtimes/afternoons in The Goat this week while staying locally. They have a great menu with the cheese board being a particular crowd pleaser. They were busy on our first visit but the lady working out front was so lovely and worked her socks off to look after everyone. We had a rather noisy 3 year old but the variety of books and toys made him feel so at home that on our second visit he took his shoes and socks off in front of the fire then trotted off to get the train set. Next time we are in the area we will definitely be coming back. Thank you for adding to our holiday memories.

We were returning from a hike up Snowdon on a Saturday evening and were fast running out of eating options, having been fobbed off at a hotel up the road. This place (as the other reviewer says, in Llanfair not Welshpool) was our last chance. We were pretty late arriving but the very friendly staff found us a table and the food and beer was good. Nice atmosphere too - suitable for families but still lively. Probably the best place to eat for miles around.

Called in while visiting the area and had a lovely freshly prepared meal for two at the Goat with a 1st class welcome from the staff. The food is reasonably priced along with the drinks. The external look of the building does not do justice for the welcome and offer inside. I would recommend it to anybody who want a hearty home cooked meal at a reasonable cost with a fine welcome.

We were staying in Eithinog Hall and walked into the village to eat at this hotel. Service was excellent, the menu choice was good and the food was really tasty. We finished up by sharing a desert which was a good idea as it was generous, followed by a cheese board. This is good quality home cooked food served by polite and attentive staff. I couldn't recommend it highly enough.

We stayed overnight in the suite, costing £75, including breakfast. In general, we received a warm welcome & attentive service, but sadly this hotel needs a major overhaul. The bathroom ceiling had a huge hole in it where the roof had leaked, bedroom carpet is badly stained & sink is in bedroom, so if you use the toilet, you have to go out of the bathroom to wash your hands, not hygienic! Duvet smelled musty & no top sheet, so we slept on top of the bed in pajamas. Breakfast was inedible due to the horrendous amount of flies in the restaurant. Won't be returning.

Had dinner on Sunday evening. Pub & restaurant were surprisingly busy but the welcome was warm and meal served in decent time. Good choice of dishes available, prices keen and service prompt and friendly. A good place to come for a good meal.

We visited on Easter weekend with our 7 year old, great selection of board games to entertain him while we had a drink and checked out the menus. Proper 'local' pub... lovely home made food. I had the butter chicken curry,my husband had leg of lamb & my son had chicken bites.. all were delicious. So nice in fact we booked a table for the following evening too. There aren't many tables in the restaurant, so I would advise booking regardless of time of year. If we are ever in the area again, we would definitely go back.

Popped in on Friday 24th Feb for a working lunch. I was expecting a quick 'refuel' but had a very tasty meal, with the Savory Platter being well-chosen and generous. Best of all, apart from the excellent service, was the pudding of churros. Will return very soon.

The food here is excellent, the service unvarying pleasant and useful, the beer is well-kept and tasty. Only complaint- it has spoilt me for other places: I keep on thinking, when elsewhere that I would rather be in The Goat

We stopped here when another local place was too busy to serve us. They said we would have to wait, but they would fit us in. They were lovely, friendly and attentive. The food cane exactly when promised and was tasty, home cooked with good sized portions. We all enjoyed and will return. Thanks.

Found this open on a quiet rainy Saturday and settled down to a couple of beers and some great cawl. Check it out - nice place. Afterward you can cross the road and look around the town church which was open to look in

A very cosy little pub. Not a massive choice on the menu, but whatever you have is very good. Try Richards Steaks. They are always cooked to perfection. A good selection of beers. You also get some local characters sitting at the bar. Lovely pub.

I chose a cold evening meal - but thoroughly enjoyed it and considered it to be very good value for money. An interesting that should appeal to most people.

Locally sourced, unpretentious but delicious food, served by charming staff. This is a local bar with friendly locals, good beer and a warm welcome. It is deservedly popular, so you may need to book at weekends.

Passing through on a biking challenge over the weekend we found this cosy authentic welsh pub. The staff were incredibly welcoming, the beer selection was perfect and they couldn’t do more for us! Would definitely return if in the area again!

Whilst I usually promote Deli-Licious as a good place to go if you have a Gluten Free (GF) diet, I was recently disappointed by their GF afternoon tea. I was pleased to hear they offered a GF afternoon tea but was left feeling let down by the poor selection and presentation. The normal afternoon tea was presented on either a picnic bench or a three tiered serving stand, mine was just put on a plate with no effort to make it look like everyone else’s in the group, making me feel like an outcast. At a cost of £16.95, it certainly wasn’t value for money.

Found this cafe on line, glad we did, the guys were so welcoming, even the dog was welcomed in. We both had the big cooked breakfast, wow, it’s not very often I actually enjoy a cooked breakfast but this was amazing, really good quality ingredients cooked perfectly. We’d happily go back.

Stopped by here for a bite to eat and a coffee during a circular walk to the north of Llanidloes. What a lovely little find. We had jacket potatoes, chocolate cake and mince pies alongside a coffee. Delicious food and the cake is exceptional.
