I went for Sunday lunch here as a group of 15 people and the pub could not have been more accomodating. We ordered in advance (given our group's side) but they were incredibly organised with our additional orders on the day and could not have been more pleasant. Adele in particular was delightful and the food (roast dinner for many of us) was delicious!

We visited The Globe as part of a hen weekend. The entire party was so impressed with this lovely country pub! The food was delicious and everyone who served us, both at the bar and the table, were friendly and helpful. We had pre-ordered our main courses and throughout planning Adele was so helpful and responsive, it made planning for a large group so much easier. Would very highly recommend this lovely spot for a Sunday lunch and huge thanks to Adele and her team.

We've been using The Globe occasionally for fifteen years now and it never disappoints food-wise. No idea why we've never written a review, but after having had an excellent and reasonably-priced lunch here on Christmas Eve we felt it was about time we did. Everything was freshly cooked as usual to a very high standard. Our highlights from the varied mains menu were the guinea fowl in a speciality mushroom and cream sauce with saute potatoes, and their sliced leg of lamb with redcurrant gravy and dauphinoise potatoes - and both came with a selection of steamed veg. Their wines are also excellent and well-chosen from their suppliers, and on this occasion the Montepulciano red was a worthy accompanyment to the food. The pub also has good disabled access which suits our elderly relative, and Adele and her front of house team were very attentive to her needs. All-in-all and excellent prequel to Christmas.

We've just had an absolutely fab evening! The food here is perfect, I had the belly pork and it's the biggest piece of pork I've seen! Cooked perfectly and bloody delicious! My friends and I had a wonderful meal here. We have not seen each other for some time. We visited this place on a Busy Saturday night. From arrival until we left the service was great. We have a few allergies and being vegetarian sometimes it is hard to find what you want. Our wants were all catered for really well. The waitress was very pleasant and patient with answering all of our queries. The nice touch was at the end of the evening being approached by the proprietor and asked if we had a good evening and everything was satisfactory. This was a genuine question, not the type you get in some establishments where it is added to the end of a well rehearsed speech, when they don't come up for breath. The food was inventive, fresh and very tasty. Also the portions are not skimpy. The Chef is clearly a treasure, and so are the staff. This place is covid friendly, and we loved the touch of the paper towels and basket by the loo doors to open the door with after going to the loo. None of us have ever experienced that before. It shows care of people and all staff. Great night, great food, great memory with special friends.

Lovely pub with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. There was a mixture of people having a quiet pint and others eating, although I would say it seemed like more of a foodie pub than a drinkers one. The menu was excellent, a wonderful level of choice that had clearly involved plenty of thought given to the mix of dishes. The portions for the mains are pretty big so if you prefer smaller amounts, I would recommend ordering two starters. We will certainly return!

The Globe began offering take away food soon after lock down began. With socially distanced specific pick up times, we began to order a meal for us and our three teenagers once a week. The husband and teenagers generally stuck to the excellent burgers, I explored the veggie options and also enjoyed the tempura prawns. I am so grateful to this pub for keeping going through the hardest of times so that once a week I didn't have to cook! We've been back twice since it opened for a drink in the garden and to pick up some food. It's a lovely welcoming pub with a lovely friendly landlady and a great menu. Highly recommend.

Came for the beer really - as a CAMRA member I found this place in the Good Beer Guide. The food was excellent though. Plenty of specials on the blackboard. I went for Steak and Kidney pie instead, and it was excellent. No playing “Hunt the Kidney” here - it was full of it, with loads of Steak pieces and served piping hot in a delicious gravy.Accompanied by a pint of Bath Ales’ Gem Bitter, there was just no room for dessert sadly.Definitely worth the trek out into the beautiful Somerset countryside.

Fabulous lunch for a large group. Food was very tasty and plentiful. Children’s portions were perfect and a good price and great that children’s sized puddings were offered too. Two sizes of the belly pork is a great idea as sometimes you want a starter but don’t want to be too full. The waiting staff were great with the all children’s requests. Our only criticism was there wasn’t any apple sauce to accompany the belly pork when we asked. Other than that we couldn’t fault it!

We loved this place, being Australian we know our Pubs and this one is second to none. We got the warmest welcome and throughout our stay the service was excellent. We spent one night in the green bedroom, it was very clean and comfortable with an ensuite. The room is small but it had everything we needed and breakfast was included. Adele provided us with breakfast of beautiful fresh fruit, muesli, yogurt and fresh hot croissants and the brewed coffee was really good. This pub is definitely value for money with a very friendly environment and great gin and tonics. Give it a visit you won’t be disappointed and you love the experience of a typical little English Village Pub. Oh and they have a great restaurant menu.

We arrived tired and hungry after an exhausting journey, staying locally I had done some research and found that this was to be our local to where we were staying. It did not disappoint. The welcome was warm and friendly and the décor clean and attractive, always a good start. We chose items from both the menu and specials board. Disappointingly the special I chose was unavailable, so had to rethink...it wasn't hard. Both meals were generous portions, nicely presented and quality 'local' ingredients. Always a bonus in my book and they do this with great charm and pride. We visited again the following day to meet up with family - another very good meal - sadly diminishing specials board which was slightly disappointing, but we all manged to find something rather scrummy to eat. The landlady remembered us, and greeted us with a cheerful smile- the sign of a 'good' licensee. We definitely recommend this place - not overly smart and pretentious, just comfy and welcoming and full of friendly locals which was nice to see. We left feeling replete on both occasions and look forward to popping in again on a return visit in November.

Eight of us went out for a mid-week dinner here following a recommendation. We were surprised at how busy it was - both dining areas were almost full and there were several drinking at the bar. Our table was booked for 7.00 pm but we had a long wait before anyone took our order and that was prompted by us having to ask if someone would come to our table or if we had to order at the bar. When our meals did turn up they were beautifully presented and my husband and I were very pleased with ours. I had hake with various summer vegetables and my husband had a burger with salad, coleslaw, gerkin and chips. That meal was served on a rectangular platter/chunk of wood and my husband said he would have preferred a 'proper' plate so that he didn't have to concentrate so much on preventing the food falling off the platter. Several others in our party had belly pork and enjoyed it although one said it was too dry and asked for some sauce/gravy. Others had fish pie and would have preferred a bigger range of fish such as smoked haddock or trout or shellfish as well as white fish. Puddings were generous and delicious and service at that stage was prompt. Settling the bill on an individual/couple basis was easy unlike some places where we've had to work out our own share of a composite bill.

I have to declare an interest insofar as it is my local, however when we go out and try other pubs for lunch I find the food to be not nearly as good, but also for the same price. Their menu is a good mixture of modern without turning their backs on traditional values. No minuscule portions, just really good food. My partner loves their fish pie and for me the burgers are almost as good as my own! Across the board a really good restaurant, try it!

The Globe is a jewel of a country pub. Light and airy with excellent welcoming staff. The food was fantastic and the wines were very good and not overpriced. We ate lunch at the globe, the service was very friendly and the menu sounded really nice unfortunately although the food was presented lovely on the plate the food just didn’t match it. The beef was inedible as it was chewy and tough to cut and the lamb wasn’t much better. My sister had the sea bass which she enjoyed but we were extremely disappointed. The staff were very apologetic and took one main off the bill. Still hungry we ordered desert the Eton mess was a bowl full of cream with white chocolate buttons in it which just didn’t work and there wasn’t any merangue in it. If you looked hard you could just about make out a raspberry. The owners again took two deserts off the bill. But we would have rather just had nice food as we left hungry. We don’t normally complain but this really was a let down. Not up to previous standards.

We chose The Globe for a visit after their victory at the Somerset Food and Drink Awards as winner of the best pub 2017. Obviously expectations were high and The Globe put on a decent show if not blowing us out of the water. One negative would be the lack of a proper car park. There are a couple around the village within a 2 minute walk, however they can be rather full. Inside it is small with a lot of appeal, big open fire place which is especially welcome on cold winters nights. A very homely feel, the same couple have run the pub and two guest rooms for a number of years. The problem with the location is that it can be quite a trek to get to, which means that the atmosphere may be lacking due to lack of patrons. However, the service was decent, the guy behind the bar could have looked a bit more alive but no major complaints. The food was off a decent standard, had better, had worse, but could not complain. Home cooked with local produce and the Seabass with Gnocchi and Chorizo was an inspired choice, the combination of flavours did make it one of the best meals I’ve had so far this year. The desserts were nothing spectacular and could have been better, but overall a worth while trip and would recommend a visit if in the area.

Booked this a week ago before reading the last two reviews and got to be honest having read them I was worried. However pleased to report that any concerns I had were blown away by the quality of the food and the staff. A group of 10 of us were booked in ranging in age from 8 to 88 eating food ranging from a good quality kids menu to full roast dinner (the lamb was delicious) and points in between including Belly Pork, Fish Pie and Smoked Haddock with poached egg. Lovely friendly service made us all feel welcome, the food was without exception delicious with good size portions and the roast potatoes were up there with the best I’ve had at a pub- crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. A good choice of local ales just added to the enjoyment. No complaints at all. We will certainly be back and are in fact wondering why we haven’t been before given how close we live to it.

It was my birthday and four of us had lunch at this pub restaurant. The bread was slightly dry. I had a starter that involved having a poached egg on top. Unfortunately the egg yoke was nearly all hard which spoilt the dish. My pork dish was well cooked, but the amount of potatoes that came with it, and also with the dishes that two other in the party had was very much smaller than needed. The waitress seemed rather disinterested. A cook came out of the kitchen, and made a lot of noise dropping bottles behind the bar. Not an action that adds to the a dining experience.

Having lived in Somerset in the past, I met with friends to rekindle old memories and to visit a few places on the Bucket List.Milverton is delightful. It's a chocolate box village with amazing architecture and the epitome of Englishness and just 15 minutes from the craziness of Taunton at rush hour and the never-ending M5!This village pub has a simple, open-plan layout with central bar and a couple of rooms-off with an outdoor terrace. The menu is small, but permanently formed with some very interesting items which would test any chef. I'm pleased to say that from the evidence I saw on my plate 'or slate' and from my friends' meals, the chef has it absolutely right.I opted for a burger (I'm a man of simple tastes) and it was gorgeous. It was clearly handmade, infused with onion and mustard and nestling under a soughdough bun., served with nice chips and a salad garnish. My friends Tapas Board looked excellent too. When I'm in the area again, I'll definitely be back!

They even let us choose two different meats. Vegetables come in a separate dish and were cooked just enough to keep their vibrant colour and taste. The parsnips were particularly sweet and tasty. The mint sauce was homemade and more minty than vinegary and the horseradish was strong.Had drinks and roast dinners for 3 and the bill was less than £45. Excellent value! Will definitely return! We are so lucky to have this place as our local restaurant/pub in the town. We have been there many times over Christmas. Including the village Christmas dinner which was super fun and even had choir singers! The atmosphere is always lovely and the staff are friendly and kind. The food is delicious and there is lots to chose from. Always worth a visit if in the area.

Gave the French evening a try.A little disappointing. Not very much French about the menu, other than using the word boeuf instead of beef.Have been to france over 100 times and was hoping for more.Food was ok, though. Marked it a little higher than it might have been, mainly because it is usually very good. Will be back.

We visit my mother and regularly come to the globe for lunch. It's a lovely local pub with lots of character. I believe it is a b n b but have never stayed here. The sea bass is delicious as is the bread. My husband had the burger which was good and I had the Caesar salad which was very tasty. The service was a little slow but we arrived at the same time as a number of people so that could be the reason as it's never happened before.

We arrived a little later than normal and were greeted and told it was ok to eat. The beer by the way was superb.....when we stood and looked a bit lost about our next move, there was a hurried discussion about where we should be. We were tucked away in the snug when really we could have sat in the hub of things quite easily. However, we were relocated with ease and all was well.John ordered the roast pork which came with Yorkshire pudding (what is this craze for filling a plate with these things that were traditionally with beef?), roast potatoes and vegetables. The potatoes were so tough that I joked that a steak knife might be in order, the vegetables pretty bland and the pork leathery and tasteless. All in all a not very enjoyable experience for him. Of course it is always the right thing to do to say your concerns at the time, but it can be daunting and tiresome to do so.I just had a bowl of chips, again a little chewy and bland vegetables. I was asked if I wanted any sauce, maybe a vegetarian gravy might have been a help in hindsight. This was such a disappointing meal, particularly when other reviews are different. I don't think I'll bother to try again though as the atmosphere of The Globe is also quite flat. A plea now to the owners......turn down the noisy soft rock music. It doesn't fit with the image you are attempting to portray.

Very good quality food well prepared..Friendly and efficient service. Good value. Avery good dining pub rather than a gastro pub. Easy parking along the road. Pleasant airy internal furbishing.

We were recommended to dine at this pub when out at another gem - The Rising Sun in nearby West Bagborough - see separate review. We dropped in for lunch and each enjoyed a delicious Cheddar and Cranberry baguette with a side order of excellent chips I enjoyed a nice local Summer ale drawn from a hand pump by the charming father of the landlord who as having a well earned family day off half term week that it was. Our food was served charmingly by a local young lady who was happy to share some of the recent history of the pub which has been renovated in a very tasteful manner but not spooling its charm as the remaining village local and as with all good locals I end up having some good conversation at the bar. The full menu icertainly looked very good so we hope to return to din another time. A very pleasant lunchtime interlude.

We had an early Saturday evening meal. Menu was good and the bar is well stocked with a good range of cider, beers and lagers. Well presented pub. Food was excellent but on this particular day the early Saturday rush clearly caught the management out and service was painfully slow. Recommended and will put this visit down as an isolated incident of slow service.

On a sunday lunchtime drive, we happened to be passing through Milverton and on the spur of the moment stopped at The Globe. This is a family-run pub, and we were warmly welcomed and found a table. The beer on tap is superbly-kept, and we were able to enjoy a quiet drink while awaiting our lunches. The excellent belly pork was probably the finest we've had - perfect crackling! - accompanied by perfectly-cooked vegetables. It would be almost impossible to over-state how good the food was!The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. If I were to have just one tiny criticism, it would be that it isn't open on Sunday evenings, but that's just me being selfish! The Globe is a gem, hidden away in a delightful village, and well-worth seeking out! Go there!

Taster Olives; Hake (fresh - not chilled) Local Lamb (tasty, but not convinced with the mint gravy) + locally made sausages with a smoothie mash and an almost onion gravy + .... the celeriac was outstanding. Presentation was master-chef . Lovely beer and wine + coffee all wrapped in a welcome that says as soon as you navigate the door you feel it's "Welcome home" .... Yes, it's another repeat from us, and we'll be back (Slight downside: The leg of lamb was cooked a little bit fast and was slightly tough. Our lamb is Tryfan salt-mountain pasture and if it's cooked at a slightly lower temperature for a slightly longer time, the lamb melts in your mouth. May I suggest that you, with respect, try cooking your local lamb as above. Overall, another excellent lunch at more than fair prices.

We dined here with a couple of friends on a busy Saturday evening. We were seated pretty much straight away but weren't given any menus. I had to ask for the only two that they had left.Once our orders were taken, it was at least an hour before we were served. This wasn't really a problem as we were busy catching up with our friends, however, it would have been nice had we been told that there was going to be a delay. We were given complimentary bread and oil which was a nice touch and the main meals were okay but not outstanding. The desserts were very good, delicious in fact.Parking is a nightmare particularly if dining later on a Saturday evening.

Overall our experience of The Globe was good, the starters and desserts were great as was the belly pork we both had for mains. What let it down rather was the accompaniments that came with the mains. The potato dauphinois were a bit over cooked and rather greasy, not the best match for what is by nature a fattier cut of meat. The seasonal vegetables came in a very small dish for the two of us and some of those had either been fried or baked in oil. The result was a rather grease laden main course which left me feeling quite queasy. It's a shame that there hadn't been just a little more attention to detail! We found the staff to be very friendly and pleasant though.

We were staying very nearby for New Years and dropped in for lunch one day. We hadn't booked but the staff helped us move a table to accommodate the ten of us.They had three lovely ales on tap which were all well kept, as well as a good selection of other drinks. We had a mix of food and everyone was happy. The stand outs were the prawn starter which featured almost perfect batter and very big prawns, the steak sandwich (recommended by the bar staff from the specials board) which was very generous and perfectly cooked as requested, and the burgers which were delicious and came with a fresh bun perfect for a burger. We finished with some liquor coffees which were a great finish to a lovely lunch. The bill was very reasonable and certainly good value for money.

We ate here earlier in the year with a large family group. Excellent food - pork belly was particularly good. Not once, but twice, the bill was miscalculated by serious amounts. My instinct was that they were genuine mistakes, but just a note of caution. It was a large party and sometimes these things get overlooked after a few glasses of wine.

I stayed here in August, on the evening before my wedding and the wedding night itself. We ate here as a family, enjoyed two nights in the accommodation upstairs and I can honestly say The Globe made our stay perfect in every way! The food was incredible, very generous portions and excellent quality (highly recommend the pork belly!), the rooms were amazing value for money and had everything you'd expect, and more. The service throughout our stay was great, nothing was every too much trouble, Adele did everything possible to ensure we had everything we needed. We even had a card and champagne in our room waiting for us when we returned after the wedding! The whole experience, from start to finish, was superb. Thank you Mark and Adele.

This was our first visit to the Globe and the place did not disappoint. Great friendly welcome even though we were slightly later than planned. Light & spacious restaurant with comfy chairs. Great choice of homecooked dishes and nice to see that supplies are locally sourced. Would recommend the sirloin steak with homemade battered onion rings and the chicken with puy lentils also delicious. Desserts were amazing we especially loved the meringues, raspberries & styles icecream! My only comment would be that the waiting staff seemed a little in-experienced but this didnt detract from a great family evening. Highly recommend and shall be back. Thanks

We have come here many times in the past few months, and i can safely say that we have had an excellent experience every time. Went there for dinner with some friends last night (Tues) and was impressed with the service and also the food. Not cheap, but good size portions, well presented and very good quality. Menu changes regularly to take advantage of fresh local produce. Maybe not a place to eat every week, but definitely good for an occasion. We will certainly return when we can think of a suitable excuse, eg there is a y in the day!!

If you are looking something different to the usual Pub food visit the Globe, I found the choice of different dishes totally different and very good on what you usually expect in a Pub, saying that its more of a restaurant / Wine Bar / Pub than the usual village pub, I had the Globe signature dish of Roasted Belly pork which was amazing, friendly helpful staff and as a final comment the best and cleanest toilets I have ever seen, worth a visit

The Globe offers a good menu plus plenty of specials. Breast of guinea fowl with a pea risotto was excellent. We went to The Globe for our engagement dinner. A table of 7, we booked in advance, we weren't keen on our table (only because we're fussy!) so the staff moved us elsewhere. The food was lovely. I had the duck, which was cooked perfectly with a side of veg, which was ample between two of us. Other people round the table had belly pork or steak, they agreed that their food was great too. We went for puddings, they came out of the kitchen and were huge! The staff were attentive and happy to help, and nothing was too much trouble. And the toilets were lovely!!Overall I couldn't fault it. We really enjoyed our meals and the atmosphere and will definitely be returning.

Typical wetherspoons pub so if you love a wetherspoons then you be a happy bunny :-) I've been to this pub a handful of times when I visit friends in Wellington. Staff are friendly and there are lots of drink and food options. Only negative is that I wish they offered more options on their gluten free menu.

Long train journey to Taunton today. Thought I'd pop in for a pint. Wanting a real ale I was given a cask ale. Absolutely perfect. From a local brewery too. Barman was happy to chat and answer questions about the pub etc. Will be back next Sunday.

Lovely atmosphere and attentive staff. 9/10 Tables were all sticky which was a shame. Food: Chicken burger, cheese burger, macaroni cheese starter, halloumi dirty fries, spicy chicken wings and 2 cocktails. Burgers were both quite bland- required a tonne of additional sauce. Macaroni cheese and dirty fries were lovely. Spicy wings were a huge shame, tasteless, old and far too small. Drinks- mediocre.
