My friends and I came yesterday evening, I don’t normally write reviews but I was shocked at the standard of the cocktails that I thought I would. I’ll state first that everything else such as the service, was excellent and our food was served promptly. To the management/owners of the Globe Inn, do you think that £10 is the appropriate price for a glass of tepid pre mixed mojito with a few cubes of ice put in? (As pictured) I would’ve been happy, as the £10 I could’ve maybe justified if there was a bit of garnish on the drink to separate it more to feeling like I was just drinking something I’d just spent £1.50 on in the local shop.

This place is a little gem. It is gathering place for village people. The pub offers an excellent range of drinks served by the lovely staff with charm and humour. The pub also serves excellent food and their Thai offerings are particularly popular. Not to be missed!

This restaurant used to be first class, sadly now it has gone downhill. The roast was uninteresting and the roast potatoes were barely cooked let alone roasted! No effort was made to give it the wow factor although the Yorkshires were a decent size and quality. I understand that they were busy but we were so disappointed, we won't be coming back again.

Difficult to find parking anywhere in Codicote High Street. A nice clean pub and friendly barmaid. I asked for a non alcoholic beer as I was driving but told they dont stock any so I had to have an orange juice.

Went once for food, Thai on a Friday and Saturday, English pub food every other day and have been back pretty much every week since! Mandy and Matt are wonderful hosts and the atmosphere is exactly what you want from a traditional British pub. An exceptional find.

Went to the Globe for the first time to sample thier lengary Sunday roast after moving to the village recently. Pre booked for Four adults and a toddler. Not overly busy (3pm) which was just nice, seated and orders placed straight away. Wow, for a short wait and a very reasonable price we all received a fantastic, tasty roast followed by yummy puddings. Great food, great service and will definitely be visiting again!!

We booked a table for 7 at 5.30pm (for an early dinner) and were finally served 80 minutes later. Although everyone enjoyed their meals which were freshly cooked, the wait was unacceptably long when we'd booked a table rather than just tuned up on spec - when perhaps one might expect to wait in a popular pub.

I have just returned from an excellent Sunday lunch at the Globe and despite it being Mothers' Day and they were expecting over 100 covers the beef was beautiful and rare, a nice selection of seasonal vegetables and roasties. Since Mandy and her family took over last October, they have also recruited a number of staff, lately at the Robin Hood & Little John pub in Rabley Heath, in particular the two chefs Craig and Ted, who produce excellent food. The pub is dog and child friendly. It also caters for Gluten free meals (which I need). It really is the only place to eat in Codicote. On Friday and Saturday evenings "Shirley" produces really good Thai food to eat in or take away.

Unexpected find in Codicote. Great Thai food from the Globe perfect to eat in or take away. The pub has a big screen, pool table, board games and dart board. It’s cozy with open fires and English country pub interiors. Friendly staff, good service, and yummy food. Couldn’t ask for more.

I have just returned from Sunday lunch at the Globe under the new management of Mandy and her family and Chef Andy in the kitchen. A really good "home cooked" roast beef with all the trimmings. The selection of fresh vegetables (with the excusable exception of peas - who want to hand-shell peas for dozens of people?) was excellent and very properly cooked. I will be returning on future Sundays.

Great Pub! Quaint, friendly atmosphere. The owners are always around but they are the best part! I had a burger it was delish, washed down with a couple of pints makes for a great meal! They have a fun outdoor area with a ping pong table and a outdoor TV for sports. Ask Tim if he's around for a round of ping pong, he loves to play. He's not very good so it's fun to play with him. I highly recommend this pub! 10 out of 10

After a visit to Shaw's Corner (National Trust), we went to the Globe for Sunday lunch. The service was brilliant and the food was very good. Staff were exceptionally friendly and attentive. The helping was huge - I couldn't finish it all. Plenty of meat, roast potatoes, a selection of vegetables and Yorkshire pudding. Smaller helpings are available for Senior Citizens and children. Choice of chicken, lamb, beef or pork. Only problem was that the helpings were so large, we did not have room for a pudding! Highly recommended.

I have just returned from lunch at The Globe, where for the first time I tried Mikey’s £5 daily special. Today it was a chicken thigh, with a chicken meat & leak stuffing, served on a bed of bubble & squeak with a thickened chicken stock containing peas, lettuce, onions and bacon. (For those with culinary French: chicken jambonneau with pois a la Francaise – the bubble and squeak being a local and excellent addition!).What can I say; you will not find a better meal at this price within miles of Codicote!

After moving to the village, My fiance and I went to Globe twice. In our first visit they were serving Thai food and I didn't find the taste very exciting. still we were very impressed with friendly welcoming staff. Before going there we had stopped by in other local pub which was smaller, posher looking, however the staff didn't seemed to care to stop their chat with their regulars to pay attention to the new customers. In our second visit we took another family member with us. We were delighted as the menu had changed to simpler, amazing tasting dishes with surprising combinations and to a more traditional style! Compliment to the chef!I cannot personally wait to go again, especially for food.My only suggestion would be if they could use the fireplace.

We haven't been to Codicote for a while. The pub itself has a great vibe (unlike God's waiting room up the road) and has been tastefully refitted. We decided to try the Thai menu which operates at the weekend. We were really disappointed as it really failed to deliver anything spectacular. Four prawns in a pad Thai is pretty mean and the depth of flavour just wasn't there. The curries were equally lacking in content. Whilst we would go to the pub we will eat at home next time !!

The Globe is going from strength to strength, you can now have specialty dishes off the "Specials" menu for up to about £15 which put shame to many restaurant menus (much cheaper but no less excellent meals can be had from the "standard menu" - my favourite is the jacket potato with a "slab" of home cooked ham and cheese for just a fiver!) . Added to which their totally refurbished "Secret Garden" is great for the Summer, true no real grass BUT it means that everything can be totally cleaned, no fag ends, no dog pooh - if you have kids this is the place to eat. Dogs and "ankle biters" very welcome inside, come and join me and the Grant family at their weekly Saturday lunch. Try it and see if you disagree.! PS Sunday roasts, a choice of five meats are not to be missed but it is advisable to book a table.

I was told about this pub serving b/fast from 9am from my garage around the corner. So off I trot to try it out while my car is getting a service in the garage. 1st expressions: warm welcome, smart n clean place. The b/fast menu is of a gd price (handy tip, if u were to knock off 2 items on the full b/fast it's cheaper to build ur own) I found the b/fast filling for me. Staff are very attentive, I look forward to returning when I happen to be in the area.

My wife and I very much enjoyed our evening meal at this new pub venue for us. The Globe has recently enjoyed a makeover creating a warm friendly atmosphere where villagers still say hello to strangers. The food is freshly prepared by the Chef who offers both a fixed pub menu and daily specials which include some healthy eating options. On this occasion we both took home made lasagne served with salad and garlic bread priced at £8.00 per meal. We didn't require the pudding being both full. The service was good and not at all intrusive. In general we found this a place where you can go to chill and relax, have meal and a pint, then drift home. We shall be back.

Just returned from our usual family Saturday lunch at the Codicote Globe but this time Mike Chinner has excelled himself. The 3 inch thick fillet steak served (by request) with salad Niçoise (without the tuna) was probably the best meal I have eaten out, never mind at a pub but even at London restaurants. And yet this was just £15. This was followed by the new homemade ice creams, strawberry, caramel and sea salt and coffee - absolutely surperb. You really need to try this place, but only after I have booked my table for Saturdays and Sundays!!

Since the refurb of this pub and the great food served we have become regulars, so am happy to add to the reviews of The Globe. The owners and bar staff are always welcoming and friendly and happy to chat and recommend wines and beers. The pub is always spotlessly clean and tables are always cleared quickly so you never see glasses or plates on empty tables like you do in so many other places. The food is exceptional – we have always had a great meal – all homemade and cooked to perfection. We've been there for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the quality of food and service has been outstanding. There is a specials board as well as the menu and the Sunday roast is fantastic. Mikey the Chef shows a passion for his job and the meals he produces. He’s happy to come and chat to the customers about the food. All in all this is a great place in Codicote to come to relax and enjoy the food and drink – highly recommended.

Burgers great, sea bass Devine. As for the roast dinners- they are better than my Nan's and that is a big statement. The slow cooked roast belly of pork is the best, home cooked roasties and yorkshires. I eat out a lot and this is by far the best pub roast I have ever had. They do Thai at weekend which is also a big hit.Definitely go here.
