Amazing staff! Amazing food as always. The Sunday 3 course menu is so reasonably priced and the portion sizes are great. For dessert lovers go for the jam and coconut cake and custard!

Very sparce with their gravy so asked for more only to find when we went to pay bill we were charged £3 for extra gravy ... unbelievable

Fantastic fantastic food and great dtaff

First can I say that the staff were lovely and very friendly. Unfortunately the food was very poor. Prawn cocktail was odd tasting and seemed to have soy sauce in it. Chicken cougon starter was very small. Chips weren't cooked through although the burger was really overcooked. Turkey meals had cold undercooked veg and rock hard roast potatoes. Even the drinks selection was poor. No pure orange and some wines unavailable. For a Friday night it was empty and the door and windows were closed up before we even finished eating. No atmosphere at all. It's sad to see the Glenowen in this state after they have done so well in the past two years. Again great staff but so disappointed, we spent about £200. on our meal and we won't return.

Went here today for my daughter birthday. The food was absolutely delicious, hot and great size portions, staff were amazing and very attentive and the cost was great. Would not restate to recommend this restaurant.

I was there for a birthday table of 10 everyone absolutely loved there food the service was amazing, I told them what I loved in a drink and they even made me a cocktail mixed with all my favs! My partner and I went a few months before and it was also amazing which is why we booked it for a birthday! I can not recommend this place enough ❤️❤️

I had honey chilli chicken as a starter, I there was too much of the sauce and not enough chicken even for a starter. Saying that my main was lovely I had the usual, steak with peppercorn sauce, tobacco onions and champ. It was really nice. The service from the waitress was above and beyond. She was very helpful and dint rush us. Staff are very polite. We went in about 6pm on a Wednesday and it was quite quiet so not much of an atmosphere but I'd definitely be backand would recommend here. Not too dear and for the price we payed it was worth it.

Food is amazing and great value

I ordered the chicken stack. To charge £15 for a plate and what was given was pretty steep. There wasn't very much on the plate. A scoop of mash and then 3 mediocre goujons and a single small onion ring. The batter was really basic and would be similar to what I've made before in the house, could've been much better. Mash was great but when is mash not. The peppered sauce had too much cream or something in it to give it a bit of a weird almost sour taste. I was with a few friends and both the exact same issue. The menu isn't really great, there aren't any deals unless on Sunday I think it was. Most plates seem to cost around £15 and starters were £5. £20 isn't bad for 2 courses but I found out the hard way by thinking a dinner and a Guinness would've been suffice. I can't understand why they would decorate up the stairs and not the restaurant I can remember the same seats when I was and going in. It's old and could really do with getting renovated. I don't know if leaving the door open is the greatest idea to leave the doors open. Fly were all over the place and constantly having to swat them away from the food, not a great look. I think if you want nice food in a local restaurant you'd have to go to felons. Foods amazing and quite cheap.

Food was amazing, great atmosphere

Was in on friday night just after 6, thought i was cutting it short as was in a rush. Had a 2 course meal for 2 and couple of drinks and out in an hour. Food was good and service was good too was checked on quite a few times which was reassuring if i hada had any problems or wanted anything else.

I recently returned to the glenowen downstairs bar as l heard it was under new management. On my previous visits for a pint or two the bar became run down and toilet facilities were woeful. I was keen to see if the new management cleaned the place up. Sorry to say that the place has barely changed! Dingy bar and the male toilet is nothing short of a disgrace! I don’t know how they’re allowed to open to the public!! Needless to say, l won’t be back!

Make sure you've got a big appetite, because they're big meals.

This place is top class. We booked for a st Holy Communion. 50 people 3 courses and every single plate was perfect . Beautiful room and the staff cannot do enough to help . I would highly recommend for family gatherings and will definitely be back for food and cocktails.

Food was just OK. Steak was nicely cooked pepper sauce wasn't nice. Hubby got fish and chips, which he said was tasteless.

Was dying with a hangover today and wanted some proper Sunday roast. My girl convinced me to go here for dinner, now I was sceptical to say the least but ypu know women once they've an idea you may as well go with it. I mean this genuinely I could not fault the dinner at all. The beef was unreal, spuds where perfect and the veg was amazing. The staff where very friendly ( actually decided a disagreement with me and my woman about the belfast area ) on point and not intrusive All in all I would highly recommend and definitely be back Oh also the Coors where right on the spot

Ome of the best spots for food on the road. Perfectly cooked with fast service. Staff were friendly and helpful. Couldn't recommend more highly. Well worth the 5 🌟

Food has no seasoning, and some ingredients that don't belong

After hearing about the new ownership I decided to give this place a try for Sunday dinner. I wanted to enjoy it but didn't!! On entering the place looked shabby. The dining room music was too loud, unruly kids running amok. Despite being reasonably early the lamb was not available so we all opted for turkey and ham - this was nice but the same standard can be had in multiple establishments on a Sunday. I had chowder to start and it was just Ok. Served with a dessert (not soup) spoon and the wheaten bread was on the bowl - no side plate. All in all it was a bit of a let down and I wanted to enjoy as the Mexican and Chinese platters on the menu sounded good so was looking to return but doubt I will

First time back in years,went to the dogs but under new management place feels like the old glenowen. Will be back 👌

Having had a few bad experiences in the Glenowen many moons ago I was convinced to go back and try it by the wife. I'm glad she did. Completely refurbished and the food and drink was excellent. Staff couldn't have done enough and reasonably priced as well. We're within walking distance I'll definitely be back! *Review Edit* We've been back a load of times, its our new regular and have to give the management a huge kudos for the food, drink (The New Yorker) and the live music, Helter Skelter is outstanding!

Place could do with total facelift. Very shabby needs completely refurbished

Food was incredible. Sea food chowder was to die for and I'm not a massive sea food fan. Just took a notion to try something different & glad I did. Staff were so friendly and service was fast. Would definitely recommend. Plenty of options on kids menu too.

Just ok, 12 people went on Saturday including kids. The Christmas Dinner is what the adults got but it was just about warm enough to eat with not much gravy.

First visit to this bar. Very impressed with the friendliness of staff and the food was excellent - great choice too. Looking forward to my next visit.

Fabulous tasty meal with excellent portions. Great staff and all delivered with that special Belfast humour. Was a terrible night, snowy and icy and yet the staff were on top form. Highly recommend this wonderful restaurant.

Thursday 23 12.22 joined family (their local)in the evening for a few drinks in public bar Service good, few about but not busy, Guinness was fine Bar has been given a makeover and apparently the whole property by new owners since i was last in here, and was in bad need of it Didn't try the food but may do so in the future

Had prebooked for party of 10 which wasn't taken into account so had to wait considerable time for our food. Restaurant very cold most ladies had to eat with their coats on not just our company. toilets which were baltic were not very clean. Staff were pleasant and we did not let this ruin our Christmas outing but as I had organised the venue I was very disappointed

We looked at the Web reviews before we booked and they were very encouraging. What we found was very contradictory. The two dining areas were very dated, the carpet looked like something from the 60's, the toilets from the 50's. We sat in the dining area without a bar and there were far too many tables, again the decor was poor and while the waitress was very friendly and food great the waiting times were excessive. I was expecting to see a nice bar / restaurant area, but unfortunately this place has been lost in time and needs brought up to date. I would not be recommending it, but in the right hands it could be developed into a bright modern bar / restaurant.

Haven’t been here in so long. Now taken over by two local brothers, this family owned restaurant is a must for food and entertainment. Don’t go by the best in the west.

Went for dinner start september it was beautiful. Went for dinner monday night not good at all. Food was luke warm. Brushetta was cold. Roast beef hot rest of dinner cold. Waited 40mins on desert ended up cancelling them. Waiter offered us them to take home. Got home apple crumble was raw. Waiting staff excellent. They aim to please but kitchen needs sorted. Been going to glenowen for yrs but wont be back

I am afraid I was totally disappointed. As we were keen to try it but the experience was far from enjoyable. After waiting for an hour on our meal one meal was lukewarm and the other meal was inedible as chicken stack was overcooked and very dry. Service extremely slow.

My partner and me called in to the glenowen for lunch today after half an hour still no food asked the staff where it was they hadn't got a clue talk about incompetent staff won't be recommending it and won't be back

We have been ordering Sunday dinner delivery for a few years .always amazing food until today!the roast beef was tuff as old boots !even the dog couldn’t chew it!is there a new chef or new butcher?sorry guys really disappointed 🤷🏻‍♀️

First time dining in with new owners, soup was just about warm, bread roll was hot ( little half baked baguettes that you finish in the oven) personally I prefer a roll thats room temp, so the butter doesn't melt or wheaten bread. Roast of the day was gammon (delicious , with a honey glaze) tenderstem broccoli was rock hard !! Mash roasties carrots and gravy delicious , overall I don't think I'll be rushing back and I'm within walking distance to the restaurant, overall 6/10

Just brilliant to see the Burns Bros taking up another new project. Huge refit underway for the sleeping giant that is the @glenowenbelfast under the new management. Kudos to you both lads, the food was breathtaking! Can’t wait to come back for those Asian ribs again. 👏

My wife and i had a pre concert meal in the Glenowen which is under new management and it did not disappoint , our meals were delicious i had an 8 oz rump steak my wife had chicken supreme great portion sizes were washed down with great beer and cocktails, very keenly priced ,this will be our new place to eat i would highly recommend The Glenowen.

Edited feedback I left few years ago. Avoid this place for functions and take custom elsewhere. Function room was filthy. Mould in corner, stains on walls alongside old blu tack and dirty sellotape. Carpet shiny with dirt and wear. Things only noticed when was too late to book elsewhere as I had previous functions that were great. Not going to begin with food. Staff friendly and downstairs looks fine but definitely not fit for a celebration of any kind. Gone downhill badly

As a party off eight we has a very good and positive experince, the staff looked after us very well. We had a selection off meals and as a group we all enjoyed our individual choice of meals. Would recommend the food and service to anyone.

The restaurant is a bit faded, but comfortable. The service was friendly and quick, all of our meals were delicious, and we felt very welcomed. The vegetarian options are very good -- much better than the "standards" you so often get. After struggling to find someplace still open on Falls, this was a lifesaver.

Not what it used to be. Food has went down hill and the place badly needs refurbished.

Nice grub and the steaks are just mmm mmmmm,I love to bring the family out to the glenowen for a meal,always clean plates all round and the staff are as friendly as they come,kids can get pictures to colour in wile they wait on the food
