Deane's at Queens in Belfast

Vino a Deanes en Queens antes de ir al Queens Film Theatre a ver a Cónclave el sábado pasado. Sabía que estaba en buenas manos cuando vi al chef Chris Fearon en la cocina. Primera de las cenas de Navidad para mí y no decepcionó. Era un plato delicioso de comida. Una bienvenida muy cálida de Arif en frente de la casa y un servicio amable y eficiente de Martha. Tuve el desierto de trufa de chocolate con sorbete de frambuesa mientras mis dos amigos disfrutaban del helado de panal. Botella de Albariño para lavar todo. Gracias a todos en D@Q por cuidarnos tan bien.

Food was nice and staff were great.

I was looking forward to this but was underwhelmed. We had the lamb and pork mains with triple cooked chips. Whilst the lamb breast was fantastic, everything else was fairly average and the triple cooked chips felt single cooked only (quite dense, not a nice fluffy chip and not crunchy enough). Probably wouldn't return for the price when other options are better.

Super place to eat! Vegetarian menú was great and everyone at the table was delighted with their food! Music could have be lower or at least a more ambient, but apart from that all good!

Four stars, because there's always room for improvement! Deanes at Queen's offers fantastic meals, I personally recomment their mushroom soup, it's amazing. Today I ordered Korean style chicken with salad and wasabi mayonaise as the main meal, and sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream for the dessert. What can I say? The meals were delicious as always! However, in my opinion the music choice might be a bit odd for a high-quality restaurant like this. Jazz, in my opinion, would be a perfect match.

So many people rave about the place. We walked from Donegal St North exploring Belfast as we went. Finally arrived to a rather curt welcome. Thought the food was OK, the service was OK, the ambience OK, but it certainly did not live up to its reputation. Much preferred The Bank in Dublin the day before.

I made a flying visit here on my first ever trip to Belfast. A warm welcome, great service and a fantastic bowl of pasta all contributed to a great first impression of of fine city.

Nos lo habían recomendado para visitar y estoy tan contento de que lo hicimos, fue la mejor comida que tuvimos durante toda nuestra estancia! En primer lugar solo quiero señalar lo increíble que era el personal con los alérgenos, nada en ABSOLUTO era un problema, conocían los entresijos de cada plato y si no lo hacían te obtenían una respuesta absoluta de la cocina y regresaban para transmitir esa información, en lugar del enfoque de “creo que sí...”, que muchos otros establecimientos toman. El servicio fue sin esfuerzo en nuestro nombre y sin fallas en el lugar. La comida fue absolutamente una de las mejores que he probado y vale la pena cada centavo! Tenía - Calamar, cordero y un postre de chocolate Mi pareja tenía - Patè, Cordero y Almendra Pastel Postre. Recomendaría encarecidamente Deanes en Queens y si alguna vez estamos en la zona de nuevo sin duda voy a asistir!

This place was a joy to visit . Amazing staff who looked like they really enjoyed working at this venue. The Mourne lamb rump is a must . Thanks to the entire team for making our visit so enjoyable .

Tuvimos nuestra cena de boda con 14 invitados y nos quedamos absolutamente impresionados con la comida, el servicio y el ambiente. No podríamos haber elegido un mejor lugar para una comida especial. Rebecca era excepcional y trabajó muy duro para acomodar a todos. Tuvimos una comida de 3 platos y cada plato y plato fue excepcional. Soy vegetariana y mi comida fue perfecta. Muchas gracias por darnos una hermosa comida que siempre recordaremos.

Couldn't fault the service was brilliant, was my birthday dinner, but seriously disappointed my starter was a chunk of bread too much pate to cover half of it and onion. The srarter I wouldn't call this a starter! No dressing, lettuce, looked like it was thrown together... not pleased at at all at Dean's at Queens.... the rest outstanding.

A bit of a hidden gem of relaxed dinning. Really nice food and staff worth 5 stars.

I was at Deanes last Saturday and being gluten intolerant I was a bit worried reading past reviews. However I found it great, 4 of us ate and enjoyed our meals, I got the crispy Seabass and it was cooked to perfection, they swapped the Orzo, which had gluten in it for a range of other options, I went for the champ. I can’t fault any of the meals or the staff and if your are gluten intolerant I would recommend Deanes at Queens, though it can be pricy for lunch.

Our server was David and i couldn’t be happier with my family and I’s experience. He was so lovely to us and made our evening so much better. The food was very nice and so were the drinks.

Enjoyed a very good, reasonably priced lunch here. He had a burger that he rated one of the best he has had and I thoroughly enjoyed the prawns with summer veg. The accompanying tapenade and gremolata were delicious. Finished with a panna cotta and the wobble was exemplary!

Service excellent for Lunch, reasonable surroundinds/deco. Lunch menu ol, nothing really special but disappointed with steak swich and burger as had better at other rrstautants not considered as high end.

The place has a Michelin bib gourmand, you might have heard… but it’s resting on its laurels! The food is undoubtedly excellent and there is a good wine selection. However, for a big room they are woefully understaffed and the staff they do have are not professional enough. Plenty of averting eye contact through the night, even when we just wanted to pay and leave, left us quite exasperated.

Quite disappointed in our lunch here today the portions were skimpy especially the scallops and the battered fish was barely half a fillet. The waiting staff seemed disinterested and were unprepared. The maitre ‘d himself was fine and was very helpful over the bill but the rest of the experience was underwhelming and when you’re entertaining people from outside Belfast it didn’t leave a good impression.

Attended a wedding here last week . Food was amazing. Lovely venue for a wedding .

An excellent recommendation for lunch having spent a few hours at the Ulster Museum. A friendly welcome, excellent service and great food. Something for everyone on the menu and a good wine selection. It just made a really nice day out even better. I would have no hesitation in recommending it.

Was there on Sunday (5th April). Hadn’t been before. I’m extremely fussy. But food was superb. Service excellent and friendly. Couldn’t fault it. Maybe just turn music off. Restaurant doesn’t need it. The ambience is there already

I have been here a few times now and thoroughly recommend to everyone. The staff are very polite, smile and are attentive. The food is fantastic. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere. Children are welcome and wheelchair users will not have any problems.

An underwhelming experience. We had had an amazing meal at Howard Street the night before and were sorely disappointed which the food and experience at Deanes at Queen's. Food itself was very... Meh. No highlights. The cocktails were okay but nothing to write home about. Everything seemed to have excessive sugar in it, it was all so sweet?! Finally, the service was rushed, lots of waiting around for drinks and servers who seemed overwhelmed or didn't particularly want to be there. One to miss for me.

A wedding present of a voucher sitting on our kitchen shelf for many months and originally we wanted to try another of the Deane restaurants which closed so we rebooked to here for our Night out.. Staff very friendly and couldn’t really fault them . Snacks of Korean chicken bites and Squid were fantastic but the 3 starters we ordered were awful . The Risotto must of been made by a teenager as I originally thought when it arrived someone had ordered porridge …. All lumped together and way over cooked . The crab was….. well more so the biscuit (American style) you get with it …. You can’t lift it as it crumbles , a knife makes it fall apart to just crumbs… a but pointless I thought . The 3rd starter was a blue cheese and pear salad….. now, I hate blue cheese and wouldn’t be fussed on a poached pear hence we ordered the goats cheese salad but alas they wrote it down wrong and delivered something we didn’t want …. I have to say I don’t mind complaining when things go wrong but I would have been there an extra 30 minutes telling them all their food faults so we paid and left without ordering mains … Mr Deane , I can see why your restaurants are closing one by one as for as long as the moon is in the sky I won’t be back near anything in your name.

It was lovely coming here. The atmosphere is lovely, food was delicious and the service was very prompt.

I really enjoy Deanes Meat Locker and fancied a change. The service was friendly and the food was excellent. We both had roast beef, and it was cooked to perfection. The dessert again was excellent. I would definitely recommend.

My Husband and I dined in Deane’s at Queens this evening and it was our first visit in a long time. We had a wonderful dining experience, we were greeted warmly on arrival by the Manager and shown to our table by Conall who was also very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Our server was Sandeep who was excellent, along with a lovely blonde lady. My Husband thoroughly enjoyed his sea bass and my steak was tasty (the chips were crispy and delicious) It was a really lovely ambience, dim lighting with candles on the tables and and excellent music selection. We will definitely return and thank you to the fantastic team who looked after us so well!

Really good food. Good kids menu. Cocktails are well made. Every member of staff super friendly even chef passed by table asking was everything okay. Great choice especially close to museum.

Fabulous food and service. Will be back for certain.

I believe worst food, service and atmosphere in the last few years of visiting Belfast . I have been to a more warm CANTEENS than the atmosphere in Deanes restaurant. Absolutely horrible huge tables that are maybe ok for wedding venues but as far as tables in restaurants go this was a nightmare to try not to make the squicky sound of you trying move the table so you could visit the toilets . Food was beyond, plain and bland . I will never recommend this place to anyone . There is so many other places in Belfast that you could spend your money . Avoid.

We celebrated our daughter's Christening at Deanes last Sunday with 23 guests including several children. Everything was perfect - the seating, service, and food was all 5*. Sandeep was a standout and made sure everyone had the correct order and our glasses were always full. We brought a cake and it appeared on its own table with serving knife and side plates which was much appreciated. Sandeep also helped us serve it along with tea and coffee after dessert. All of our guests enjoyed their meal from start to finish; I can't recommend Deanes highly enough!

Lovely restaurant & very pleasant staff. Food was beautiful and came out hot. Had a lovely evening. Only downfall was the toilets very disappointing after sitting in such lovely surroundings

Food is OK, service is excellent and the atmosphere is nice. The markup on drinks is exhorbitant. Unlikely to visit again, as there are plenty of other restaurant choices that have better food for similar money and that have way less expensive drinks. Watch the bill too, it already includes a service charge, which I hadn't noticed until I had already paid, tipped and left the restaurant. The staff at this restaurant are very professional, courteous and efficient and are a credit to the establishment.

One of the best meals we had in Belfast! The drinks are excellent too. They were kind enough to squeeze us in without a reservation but you should really get one!

Had dinner here as a work event. Food was very good, just a bit slow service. Staff were pleasant. I have eaten here before and it always good.

We had a wonderful experience this evening celebrating my sister’s birthday. The food was superb but Conail was extra special in his attention to service throughout which made the evening most memorable.

Front of house made me feel extremely unwelcome. My wife and I were really looking forward to a treat. We didnt get it. Not a word spoken by front of house. We were I. And out in half an hour. What an awful experience, considering this is apparently Michelin starred. Atmosphere zero, customer service zero, food was average. Roast beef dinner I could have made myself. When I go out, I expect good customer service, decent food and to walk away having enjoyed the experience. This was none of these. I’ll never be back. Awful experience.

You never get a second chance to make a first impression as the saying goes and my first impression was awful. My wife and I arrived, informed the girl with shoulder length bob of our booking for 7pm, apologising for being 10 minutes early. She rolled her eyes, no welcome, not a word said, grabbed menus and walked to a table.. I’ve honestly never experienced such an unwelcome experience in my life, which jars with me even more when I see some Michelin awards on the wall. It’s most certainly not for hospitality. We were in and out in half an hour. No joke. What an awful experience. Food was just OK. The fact we stopped at McDonalds on our way back to the Titanic Hotel says all you need to know. My wife and I have low expectations. We were just glad to get out for the night. We were really looking forward to what we thought would be a real treat. This was our first (and last) time at Deanes. I’ve often seen Michael Deane on local television talking about the importance of supporting local business. The fact that he was only a few tables away with his family and even that doesn’t inspire his staff to provide excellent service is beyond me. My wife is still angry at the way we were treated. We won’t be back.

Perfect food quality and quantity. Food was tasty and quite affordable too. They can change the menu or make any change as you need. Polite service as you would expect from any place. And they are friendly too

Big open restaurant with lots of tables. They offered a very interesting selection of dishes, the majority well prepared and tasty. Not amazing, but very good quality!

Deanes at Queens. I showed up as it reopened for dinner. Greeted and seated immediately. It’s a very large space. I ordered the Scallops and a salmon salad Scallops: 4 small pieces grilled nicely with greens and bacon (seemed more like bacon than pancetta) Salmon salad: clearly misunderstood. It was more of open face sandwich with some greens candy fries. Good nonetheless.

I regularly dine at this restaurant. I love the location, ambience and staff. The food is always nicely presented and full of flavour. It is one of the best restaurants in Belfast though this visit was more expensive that I would have previously paid. I appreciate it is impact of the cost of living rises but the bottles of wine are cost prohibitive and the steak feels expensive at £37. I will return but I might have to order less.

We love Deanes at Queens for Sunday dinner and today didn’t disappoint. I had salt chilli squid starter - gorgeous- he had the mushroom soup- such a depth of flavour, amazing! We both had roast beef served pink which was beautiful with all the roast dinner additions- roasties, Yorkshire puddings, carrot and parsnip mash and buttered cabbage. No room for dessert! Yes - the venue is showing its age and deserves a refurb. The restrooms were not as clean as usual. We were sited st the window and the outside area was full of cigarette butts- it really needs a deep clean. I really hope that after the closure of deane and Decano on the Lisburn road that this branch is not grinding to a close too? Love the food - service is perfect- please keep it going!,

Deane's Fish is my "go to" when in Belfast. It never misses. The risotto with seared scallops is like heaven. This time I also ordered the crab toast, just lovely with a slight zing of lemon to prevent it from too rich. The drinks are always spot on. Truly, pop in for a memorable meal.

This was the worst service I have encountered. This was not due to the serving staff who were uniformly friendly and helpful. It was only when I went to pay that the trouble started. My gift voucher was not accepted and I was forced to pay the bill without it. One of my chief reasons to vist Deanes was to use the gift voucher. I was told by the manager that there was nothing he could do because there was a glitch in the system. Surely the minimum that good customer service demanded was that the manager could override the system and sort the problem later. To compound the problem, when I tried to contact the number (at 11:15 on Monday) that the manager gave me I received a voicemail asking me to call back during working hours (9:00am to 5:00pm)

Usual staff very professional.. However keeping 1pm diners outside until the 1pm on the dot not really very professional in my view rather than using the foyer area as waiting zone A very inexperienced waitress who didn't appear to be remotely interested in her customers..Bordered on non chalant in manner perhaps No Sprite! Only two small lemonades left. Couldn't facilitate a large plate being made as a small plate . Totally misinterpreted( by waitress) what was being asked. No problem though making a small plate into a large plate! Pannacotta drenched in sauce and inedible. Could not do 1/2 shot Cappuccino! I advised waitress it was never a problem before as I am a regular diner. She didn't respond. How disappointing as a regular customer. Suggest training for the young waitress a priority as really just not up to the MD standard . I advised her for transparency that I would be reviewing but she appeared non plused instead of inviting me to chat to a senior person privately to close it down professionally as it should have been.

I had a crab starter with Gazpacho ,the crab was lost in a potato croquette needed brown meat ,gazpacho had a strange herbal backnote,haddock and chips was great

Food was very good, staff very friendly and attentive. Just don't like it when a service charge is automatically added to your bill. Stayed on for an extra drink after paying the bill and a service charge was even added to that.

Delicious food and great service. However the atmosphere was not very welcoming, it has a bit of a canteen feeling. Also the bench I sat on had quite a lot of holes and looked worn out. You wouldn't expect that from a restaurant with a Bib Gorumand

Four of us had a good meal here - the courses were very tasty and well seasoned with a decent sized choice. The staff were excellent, friendly, helpful and attentive

Tombé au hasard sur ce restaurant. Le cadre est moderne, épuré, contemporain, charmant. L’accueil est très agréable. En apéritif, nous avons pris des cocktails originaux et délicieux. J’ai ensuite opté pour l’agneau. Une réussite totale. La cuisson rosée juste parfaite, une viande à couper s la petite cuillère! Nous étions quatre , et chacun est reparti conquis Merci à l’équipe pour ce très bon moment.

A great place, great food and a great evening.

Really disappointed. Restaurant itself was really tired and felt like a school canteen with no atmosphere. Toilets needed cleaned as well. The food was just ok, nothing special and the menu actually quite limited and not my previous experience of Dean’s. One of our party had a large piece of plastic in his dessert. Staff did apologise and replaced the dessert but not great. We will not be a rush to return which is a pity.

A difficult one. Great food and service and a generally nice atmosphere. But genuinely shocked at how tired the place has become. Many of the fixtures and fittings well past their best. As per pics. But again, I reiterate great food and great service, but I would no longer bring someone if I was trying to impress.

Linen tableware, sparkling cutlery and glasses, refreshing water with bubbles, highly professional waiting staff, we both had the beetroot and goats cheese salad starter which was out of this world for flavour, followed by roasted cod with creamy champ, green beans and a red wine jus for me, and chicken supreme on mushroom risotto for my colleague, both of which were excellent, we agreed that the whole experience was the best lunch each of us had enjoyed in a very long time, we declined dessert and coffee, but 3 courses of this quality for £49 is great value So if you want a special lunch in the Queens area of Belfast look no further than Deanes

Lovely meal but was not informed of the 10% Service charge. Would make me doubtful about returning. There are a lot of good restaurants in Belfast who do not have this policy.

Without doubt Dean's at Queens delivers every time, delicious food at a reasonable price.Traveled up from Ballymena for Sunday lunch well worth the journey.

I had steak and chips. The chips weren't hand cut. The steak was fine but not particularly generous. The price was what you would expect from a fine dining experience but I didn't find anything about the experience actually met that criterion- it was all just ok

Will certainly be back to Dean's 1st time here everything lovely Would like a more intimate atmosphere with maybe higher back s on seating areas with the glass partitions.

Considering the prices everything was very average. Keep an eye on the wine they are very quick to top up glasses and replace empty bottles. You'll drink alot more than you plan to and pay dearly for it. Seats uncomfortable.

Had a family lunch today and food was lovely however was left very surprised when ordering desserts and coffees that the restaurant did not serve a Dairy Alternative for milk in my coffee !! Really for a restaurant of this quality, disappointed

Good spot for food when in Belfast, but no dish is remarkable.

Slow service. We were there for lunch and it took hours. Tiny portions - I left hungry! Cheeseboard wasn’t fresh. Much too expensive for what you get.

Wasn't sure what to expect but very pleasantly surprised. Salt and Chilli squid was excellent. Whole seabass, excellent. Lamb, excellent but under seasoned (appreciably that is a matter of taste). Steamed toffee pudding excellent. Service attentive, pleasant and warm. 4 stars instead of 5 as the sauces served were a bit claggy and overly rich, while the chips lacked the lighness I've previously experienced in MD. Dont let that put you off though! Small details.

Food and service excellent, location and outlook beautiful. Only one issue, an arrogant hostess who showed us to our table and nearly spoilt our experience, to the point we nearly walked out within 2 minutes of arriving. Our Scottish waiter made up for this annoying...

We paid £35 for a tiny sirloin steak which was full of fat, but discussed by the copious amounts of sauce that they covered it in.

We went here on 23/04/23 for Sunday lunch and would HIGHLY recommend it. The food was fantastic and staff were great. We will definitely be back.
