The lithuian guy that served us was super lovely and ensured we were OK the whole time. If it were not for him I don't think I'd be comfortable paying for something I could screw up better myself. I understand that is harsh, but to advertise as a fine dining menu then to serve us freezing dishes that didn't harmonise together at all was just disappointing. We were also in our third dish before getting our cocktail/wine pairing and even then we were given the wrong wine for dish. (For example, Pino Noir to be served with the main meat dish, we were served a white wine instead). Honestly it all felt very hap hazard. Lucky we were hungry, honestly felt I could make something better at home. Had high expectations but unfortunately six by nico has rated below most average restaurants we've been to. Unfortunate as it has the potential to be amazing, I guess thats what happens when you turn a fine dining experience into a chain restaurant. Thanks anyway for the experience but it's a one off I'm afraid

This was our third visit. This time the theme was 'Land of Oz'. One of our party was visiting for the first time so didn't know what to expect. Watching him discover each course and having the food explained by the server when it was served really added to his experience. The restaurant was extremely busy yet the service was good ....the food was delicious. We all scored each course out of 10 and each of us had different favourites.....I strongly encourage anyone to try this experience. It actively encourages everyone to be more adventurous to try foods they wouldn't normally order off a menu. We will be back......looking forward to seeing what the New Year menu themes may bring. I think the servers deserve a special mention.....our main server was extremely helpful, sharing details about the menu/food and despite being extremely busy she took her time to make sure we were happy with everything.....she's definitely an asset to the Six by Nico team.

Marketed as a fine dining experience but does not live up to that standard. Dishes are poorly executed, cold and never come together as a cohesive dish. Very obvious that this a chain restaurant, please don't fall for their glitzy marketing campaign, I recommend spending £10 more to go to muddlers club or Ox (Michelin star restaurants)

Been twice, both times service was haphazard, this may be their own style, but doesn’t make for a relaxing experience. The food is based on a theme and therefore changes depending on when you visit. The first time the food was overall very enjoyable and interesting with a lot of attention to detail. Our recent second visit featured the Christmas menu which was very disappointing in comparison, in terms of the size of portion and the quality of the food produced, especially considering the price. I would perhaps go again, but would need to research what was on the menu….

Was very excited to experience this restaurant for the first time, however left very disappointed. We were seated for an hour and 10 mins and had only eaten two courses. When we arrived, the table next to us was 1 course ahead of us, and by the time our 3rd course came to the table they were 3 courses ahead! The food was tasty however not filling at all. The 12.5% service charge is a joke between 2 people for a meal that still left us hungry with very slow service. Would not recommend

Didn't enjoy the food.. really wanted to but it's just not great .. fish n chicken cooked nicely.. but as a hole I didn't enjoy any of the dishes ad a hole .. dont think its the chefs its the competition of the dishes it just didnt work for me.. nice staff not overly expensive but the food really isn't great unfortunately. Steep service charge @ 12.5% but the guy who served is justified this .. limited drinks also.. can't see ne returning unfortunately

Amazing!!! Such unreal flavours all throughout, such good knowledge of the foods and wines! Went for the 10 Course Chippie Chips, the portions look small but by the 6th course I was nearly full! Amazing experience with Caolan as a great server who could have a laugh

We went to the back to oz experience definitely don’t recommend the front of house staff where lovely but the food very disappointing the course with chicken and risotto was awful my chicken was pink and risotto under cooked not an enjoyable experience at all we did say when we where there and where totally ignored £144 definitely not worth it photos are what was shown what we got

I am sorry but I won't be back at six by Nico. I have been a regular for 4 and a half years now...bringing clients, family and friends to enjoy the super, innovative themed foods. Alas the last 2 visits I have felt total lack of any customer attention for repeat customers and have actually been really overlooked. We always got the most wonderful service from cilian in Belfast and we were greeted and treated like the regulars we were-but the last 2 times, not even the promised welcome drink or an extra of bread. We were so disappointed... the food is delicious and we were great fans- but if you can't look after your life blood regulars, we must go else where to be pampered. The staff are lovely/the food great....but we just didn't get that magic touch. How simple a welcome drink or chef's amuse bouche would be. The ivy has rolled into town with excellent customer service and redeemable points to reward loyalty- Notibly on our last visit to six by Nico we spotted 4 empty tables that Saturday night... perhaps the people of Belfast are voting with their feet and heading to the ivy to have their loyalty rewarded. We booked the Land of Oz experience for a 40th birthday, on Tuesday evening. Had the confirmation text exactly a week prior, confirming Land of Oz. On arrival the menu was The Chippie. Needless to say we were very disappointed. The celebration had been planned with Land of Oz in mind. There was zero communication about the change of menu. The staff member who welcomed us was very professional and explained that the menu was subject to change and an email should have been received. On explaining it hadn't, they offered to rebook for a Friday or Saturday and explained that these are the only days Land of Oz is on the menu. This was not made clear at any time on the website, or when booking, which we informed the staff of. They said they would look into addressing this. We declined booking again, as to be really honest, we were pissed off. This was for a 40th birthday celebration we had been looking forward to for weeks, we felt the occasion had been spoiled. I have provided the star rating as I was in the restaurant max 10mins awaiting my dining companion before we then left. I'm sure it's a lovely experience, it just wasn't my experience on this occasion. The staff member we spoke with was professional, and slightly apologetic, we acknowledged we knew it wasn't their fault, I actually felt for them as I had the impression this isn't the first time they have had to deal with this situation. The following afternoon I received an email apologising profusely for the menu change and stating a mass email had been sent to guests to advise of this. I didn't receive this, otherwise we wouldn't have bothered to attend. I'm understanding to a point, I do get it. But as this was for a special occasion, it's made me very hesitant to book again should the same issue occur.

I came here alone midweek whilst travelling for business. Vibe is more couples out for a date or couples night but the staff were very welcoming. The menu was well thought out and technical but retained a great balance of flavours that I have found can suffer in other tasting courses. Staff worked well to explain the drinks and food menu and were clearly trained to engage well with the clientele. This is an easy recommendation for top quality food at a reasonable price. The matching wine menu was enjoyable.

This was a taste sensation. It's a very different way of interacting with food - almost like a conversation with the chef. "What do you think of as roast potatoes?" "I think it's this" "Oh wow..." It's easy to write off these kind of places as poncy and nonsense. But the quality of the food, the thoughtfulness and judgement that goes into the experience is amazing. The service can be a bit brusque.

Disappointed. I used to love six by nico and have been lots of times, ordered boxes during Covid and recommended it to a lot of people. We went in July and felt the portions were even smaller than usual and left the dinner still hungry so had to go for food elsewhere. Hoped it was just a one off. We went again last night for our anniversary and had the same experience. Definitely feel like the food has reduced in quality and quantity. Also, the service was incredibly slow. By the time we finished we had been there for almost 3 hours. Our paired wine was almost finished by the time we were given the food to go with it. Very disappointed and cannot justify the price of it any more.

Booked a table for my wife and I on Saturday at 7.15; we arrived on time but were waiting at the door for 20mins with others who also had reservations. Our initial observation was that the restaurant was overbooked and under staffed. We had a 6 course tasting menu (£44 each) plus a bottle of wine. The food was well presented with interesting taste combinations but portions were small compared to other tasting menus we have tried. The staff were apologetic for the delay with the reservation and they admitted that the ticket for one of our courses was lost in the kitchen but still added £16 on as a service charge, which we removed. One more comment on the facility, there are 3 identical toilets but they are apportioned 1 to gents, 2 to ladies. It meant men were queuing when 2 empty stalls were standing free. Just make them unisex? We were looking forward to this dinner but after 3 hours, we felt as though it could have been better and a number of apologies were noted and fine but if fewer bookings had been taken the pressure on the staff would have been reduced and mistakes would have been fewer. I don’t mind paying for good service and quality food, sadly it was not to be.

El tema del menú fue el menú degustación de la Tierra de Oz. El primer plato de beignet de maíz dulce estaba muy bien cocinado, pero bastantes de los otros platos eran tibias cuando se suponía que estaban calientes y demasiado cocinados, como si hubieran estado cocinados bastante tiempo y de pie. El plato final, la Ciudad Esmeralda era una crema de manzana, mousseline de miel, sorbete de yogur y gel de limón era precioso. En cuanto a la atmósfera, no la había. La música de fondo no era acorde con una buena experiencia gastronómica. Todo el personal de espera parecía estar pasando por el guión de impartir el curso, explicando lo que era y eso era todo. Ni una sonrisa. Decoración bastante oscura pero bien hasta que miraste hacia arriba. Telarañas (no intencionadas) y generalmente un poco descuidadas. Solo por información ponen un 12. 5% de cargo por servicio - declarado como discrecional. Este fue un regalo de cumpleaños número 70 de mi familia, así que estaba bastante decepcionado.

Six of us dined here yesterday for the Sunday Roast. All in all it was lovely. Some flavours were a little strong for a couple of us and the chicken was dry but the rest of the food was great. The only down side was at the end of the meal when another server came to our table and said " How was everything? Would you like anything else? I'll go get your bill! One sentence, no pauses between the questions. When we said we would actually like to order coffee and finish our wine she said she would have to go and check when they needed the table back. Our server came back and we explained that we would like to finish our drinks and two of us would like coffee. He also went to check when we needed to be off the table. He came back and informed us we had 15 mins. We had been on the table at this point for an hour and a half. We ordered the coffees , asked for the bill and sorted it while we finished our drinks. It really tainted the experience overall. This is the 4th time visiting Belfast and the 2nd time we have been rushed off the table. Maybe the table allocations need to be revised slightly , especially if you are doing the wine pairings.

Six by Nico is chain of restaurants which have locations across the UK and Ireland. I have tried their food in London and was very interested to try out the Belfast branch. It was just as delightful! They introduce the concept of fine dining in a safe, approachable and afforable way. For those that love fine dining already there is still lots to be pleased with. I would advise to book in advance as it can be quite busy! We had the 'Cooking Hollywood' menu on our visit, in the vegan variation so just make sure to let them know when booking. The dishes were delicious with a special shout out to the Artichoke and Turnip, proves they can make anything shine and ended up my favourite dish! I thought that the Vegan alternative of 'Bubba Gump "Shrimp"' was weak in my opinion as the Malaysian curry was removed and this was a shame as every other dish was fantastic. Overall, Beth served us brilliantly and was super attentive. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, as well as all of this I felt the meal was very well priced. Six by Nico is absolutely worth visiting even if the thoughts of 'fine dining' is off putting. Their menus will put you at ease and you may even get into the swing of it! 😊

Completely overpriced for the quality of food. Some of it was just plain inedible. You’re paying for presentation and not much else. Was advertised as being £30 but was charged £42 per person with an additional £12 service charge added on top of the final bill. Won’t be back.

I had booked a table for 5.45pm today. I had made this booking around 2pm today. After 2 hours later, I sent them an email explaining that I want to cancel the reservation because I cannot be there at time. However, they sent me a voice message around 6.30pm saying that I need to inform them 24 hours before my reservation time. I just made a booking for 3 hours later, how can I inform them 24 hours ago? this is ridicilous. That means I cannot make reservation same day?. Because during reservation I made an active card check, they charged me £84 even tough I did not go to the restaurant. This is a pure scam. I was thinking this is a professional restaurant. Just because my wife got sick so we couldn’t go. but we still needed to pay. I cannot believe they charged me without any service.

This is the third time we've been and continue to be amazed by the menu that is put on. This time it was Istanbul. The lamb was absolutely amazing 👏 the dessert with the candied walnut just divine with the matched wines (which i managed to knock over and the kind waiter replaced!) Really made the service. The waiting staff are so knowledgeable about the dishes and wines they are serving. Will definitely be back.

We have had previous visits to Six by Nicos and menus such as Once upon a time, Everest and Sicily set the bar high . Unfortunately this time it was a huge disappointment . We were really looking forward to the Tokyo menu however the food was bland , overcooked and for one course inedible . The chicken thigh was dry and stringy , sea bass was over cooked and flavours throughout were bland and unexciting - such a wasted opportunity. We were told the dessert was a cheesecake - it was frozen most of the way through but by then we had given up . The atmosphere was lacklustre with staff lacking the previous enthusiasm we had seen . Portion sizes were tiny and while we are aware this is a tasting menu, we have never come away hungry before as we did on this occasion . Tables are booked for a set time however we have no control over when courses arrive - there was a huge wait between course 2 and 3 this obviously delayed the running time of the meal - while still eating, the bill was presented to us without having been requested - very poor form especially when we didn’t cause any delay . Such a shame .

I have always been a fan, this time we were here for the Japan menu. Food was great, staff were great. I feel there might be something shifty going on with the bills though. We had a couple of offers, we highlighted this and when the bill came around the offer was only applied to one person. To rectify this they had to add a component to the bill to allow the offer to take effect. We thanked them and paid, and when we walked out the door we realised the tip amount had been bumped up to offset the saving made on the offer. When we went back in and queried this the manger noticed the error and apparently sorted a refund for the difference on the system. 4 weeks later and I have yet to receive the refund. Stupidly on my part I took this at face value and didn't request the manager print me a new bill to show this, and she held on to the one I had. The food and service here is fantastic, but this is not the first time my partner or myself has picked up on errors and overcharging on tips.

I have been to SixbyNico in another location and was excited to go to the one in Belfast, especially to try the Tokyo menu. However, it was...an overall disappointing experience. The service was quick, polite and professional, but on this occasion I found the food a let down. I am used to the portion sizes of tasting menus, but even by this metric, these portions were very small and for the first time in many years I actually stopped off on my way home and ate again shortly after this tasting menu. Which...for the price is a bit mind boggling. The first course of Chicken Karaage was super crunchy and tasty. I honestly could have eaten plates of it. The second course was Tempura which was pleasant but thin and the Enoki Mushrooms rather than being crisp had the texture of slugs while the Ponzu was bland and lacking the usual sweet tanginess I expect. The Okonomiyaki Savoury Kimchi Pancake were chewy, doughy and were barely saved by the Japanese Mayonnaise which had to cover a lot of the subpar flavour. I love Kimchi but there was no actual distinct Kimchi taste, lost as it was amongst the dough. Ramen without...ramen was the next course. I made the mistake of choosing the Tofu vegetarian alternative instead of the sea bass. The Ramen broth was a single tablespoon in the bottom of the bowl which lacked punch or strong flavour...something which was desperately needed for the cubes of Tofu which had the texture of cardboard and were incapable of absorbing a single drop of the broth. I genuinely almost choked on the Tofu as I enviously watched my dinner mate eat a rather nice looking piece of Seabass. More mushrooms failed to salvage this dish even with a rather punchy Egg Yolk Jam. I have honestly never tasted such poor Tofu and even my own amateur attempts would have been better and more flavourful. What should have been the best part of the meal, the Tonkatsu Panko Pork Belly was again such a small portion as to barely be a taster and considering this usually fatty meat's substance, the actual meat content was even lower. I love delicious panko, crunchy, juicy pork belly fat as much as the next person...but some actual meat would be light relief. I had to check the menu to realize there was Cabbage and Pumpkin on the plate since their flavours were nowhere in sight. Desperately still hungry we opted for the extra dish of Pork & Prawn Skewer which while nice was a mere tease of the flavours we had hoped for all meal. The best part of the meal was the final course. The Strawberry Candy was gum achingly sweet and super sticky with a fresh tang. The cube of white chocolate, matcha cake nibbles and scoop of strawberry ice cream were delicious, the matcha cake bits were like eating delightful matcha clouds. It...it was a thoroughly underwhelming experience, made worse when I was hungry less than an hour later. The fact that my companion and I are non-drinkers left us fully focused on the meal and when it was left lacking, only to have its price inflated by a matching bill for inflated prices on soft drinks (sparkling water and non-alcoholic bear) it left a less than pleasant taste in our mouths. I would recommend giving the Tokyo menu a miss and waiting for the next menu, hopefully things will improve...although I will be waiting for reviews of any new menu before I book the Belfast location again.

This was our fourth visit and probably our last. Of the six courses four were good and two average. This time we were shocked at the price of the wine. We had wine by the glass as one of us drinks red and one white. The small was only 125 ml - and cost £8.50!!! The large 250 ml cost £14.50!!! (there were more expensive ones!!!) On top of this there is a 12.5% service charge, even for two people. The service charge is understandable for food preparation but for unscrewing a wine bottle?? And to add it on to already overpriced wine?? A large glass of wine becomes £16.40!!! We will not be back.

They add to the bill a very high table service, they said "you can remove that" I asked them to remove it, but they charged me for it anyway. I thought it was too noisy, they sat us next to the service counter so we had kitchen staff constantly shouting "service" and it looked like there were not enough staff serving.

Food good there's no doubt..however...way way too small portion sizes...been a few times...went this time as tokyo menu...portions so tiny...waited ages between 2nd and 3rd course then rushed through rest of courses. Service charge added to bill.! There were only 2 of us...would like to tip staff myself that actually served us depending on service we got..Service was OK.. lovely young staff but again we were rushed..atmosphere of restaurant could be improved...too bright...thats OK for a fast food place and fast food prices of which six by nico is not...asked for quiet table...restaurant was not quiet at all and I felt this the last time too but wanted to give it another try..

I was very disappointed with our tasting experience. We had the guilty pleasures menu. Each course was bland and luke warm. The potato skin course, we couldn’t even cut through. It was so tough. Like heated up cardboard. I had looked forward to this as had heard really good things. We had booked ages ago and received an email confirmation in June for our August booking. 2 days before it was cancelled. I called and was told sorry we have decided to not open now. The lady sounded barely bothered. I explained we were flying into Belfast for a city break and couldn’t just change our plans at such short notice. We booked for the following night as luckily they had a table free. I can honestly state I couldn’t distinguish any discernible flavours in each dish apart from the pickled cauliflower in the Mac and cheese dish. We will not be returning.

This was my first time at Six by Nico, it was a great experience. The Amalfi Coast menu was overall lovely, filled with fantastic flavours. The only course I wasn't really a fan of was the risotto, but that's probably just because I'm not really a risotto fan. The only thing that let it down was the chairs, very uncomfortable. The staff were all welcoming and friendly, I'd definitely go again.

Having used two vouchers we were told the balance to pay and without being informed 12 1/2 % added to bill for service. £21 in addition to £169. I was not happy with the amount and no explanation just automatically added. At bottom of receipt it says this is discretionary. I would pay a tip but this is inflated so I asked for this to be refunded. This % should be reviewed

I thought the food was very hit and miss, not particularly enjoyable at all. One thing they have going for them is the wine tasting, it opened my eyes to so many great wines. Considering it's a set menu, we barely finished dessert before being told we needed to leave for the next guests. All the main dishes tasted 5/5 , we ordered a side for £10 and it gets a 1/5 it was a fair portion size but lacked any flavour at all just bland . Service was great and staff attentive. Would have given it more stars , only reason I give it three stars was they automatically add a service charge to your bill of 12.5% even for a table of two , I understand if it's for bigger tables . Going outs a treat for most people these days and most people would feel awkward to ask for it to be removed I know it's discretionary as it's in small print on the menu . Let customers make that choice at their own discretion don't force it onto the bill. I tip everywhere I go but let us decide that.

It was different to what most restaurants in Belfast offer, and an overall positive experience. Having said that, the food arrived cold and one of the meat dishes (trio of pork) had a very dry and tough piece of pork belly on it, which is not what you would expect from a high-quality restaurant! The desert was unimpressive and also had a very dry polenta cake on it, which was tasteless. Flavour-wise, however, the other dishes were well-balanced, just a shame that it was all cold. Staff were friendly, and service was good. Perhaps it was just an off-day, and I’d love to go back to the next menu and see if it is a better experience, as I enjoyed being able to taste different flavour profiles via the tasting menu.

Very disappointed. The first three courses were completely lacking in texture and substance, mainly a pretty assortment of mush on a plate. The portion sizes are incredibly small. Do not come here hungry. I did mention upon leaving that I had never left a tasting menu before feeling that I need to go get a pizza and was told that I maybe should have ordered more snacks in addition to the tasting menu. In hindsight maybe I should have, but I would have thought six courses would have been ample. My mistake, had I been advised that the portions were minuscule at the start, I may have done so. At a spend of £42 per person plus drinks, I would not have expected to leave hungry.

Amalfi experience was a very disappointing 6 out of 10 for this restaurant (maybe that is where the name comes from?) and the reason why it is not lower is because of the kindness of the staff. Presentation was incredibly poor, taste was mostly OK bit nothing to get too excited about. First dish (Parmesan polenta), for instance, looked like a very sad watery porridge even though it tasted ok. You can see a picture of it in someone else’s reviews here. Presentation didn’t improve much after that. The Heirloom tomato was mediocre, and the pancetta ham jam (part of dish 5) was a very small mess of fatty and excessively salty mush. We shared the add-on of fried seafood mix as a starter which looked and tasted straight from the freezer section of the supermarket, only costed a lot more at £10. The ice cream in the dessert had started to melt, even the waitress apologised for this. We’d been here before and enjoyed the experience which is why my daughter chose it for her birthday but will never come back and will definitely not recommend it either. We ate the food as we were starving but think we would’ve been a lot better off spending our money elsewhere. A lot more is and should be expected from a restaurant at this price range.

We went today to have the Mexican menu, however an hour prior Suzie rang us to let us know that there was a wine event on. I knew this already from emails from Abigail in reservations, but still seemed that we were coming for the Mexican menu. Until one hour before. Was obviously a mix up. But we went as we were already in Belfast. What I have to praise was the service.. firstly from Suzie and also Rebecca. Both girls were so personable and friendly, they made our experience so much better. It really does show how important it is to have amazing staff. Our disappointment disappeared when we chatted to the girls through each course. The food was, as always, very very tasty. Will definitely return. Thank you girls for enhancing our day. Really disappointed by the “Trust” menu yesterday, booked this for my birthday treat as I really enjoyed the Japan menu last year. I’m vegetarian and it felt like all the veggie options just had the meat removed from them, most of the courses felt like they were lacking any real effort. The second course especially was nearly inedible, was basically just a bowl of pickles swimming in vinegar with a few sun dried tomatoes thrown in? In fact most of the courses were focused around pickled/sour ingredients which was very overwhelming, felt like they were just using up whatever they had leftover in the kitchen (eg sundried tomatoes in multiple courses) Really rated this place highly the first time and was looking forward to trying the Mexico menu but i won’t bother after this experience. At least our waitress was nice

Having had a great experience and really enjoyed the food at Six By Nico in Leeds we had high expectations for our dinner at SBN Belfast. How different it was! On arrival we received a very 'frosty' unfriendly welcome from Susie who we later found out was the manager. We arrived 7 minutes early for our booking and even though there were 3 or 4 tables available we were told by Susie that it would be best if we went to a local bar for a drink and to come back later. We said that we would wait in the restaurant as there appeared to be tables available. A few minutes later a different, more helpful, member of staff approached us and said that our table was ready, how strange! The two waitresses throughout the evening Kimberley and Samantha were efficient but lacked customer service skills, they didn't seem happy in their work. The food was okay, nothing fantastic, not as good as the menu that we had in Leeds, but that may just be our taste. The wine pairing wasn't great either, extremely dry Pinot Noir and what seemed like a cheap Asti with the dessert, again it just may not be to our taste. At £162.00 for 2 people it was a disappointing evening, Susie the manager should lead be example and be more welcoming, this would filter down to the staff. Tip : The Previous evening we had a great time at 2Taps (just over the road), where we had great food and very friendly service.

I really wanted to like this place as I booked 2 months in advance and read a lot of good reviews. Unfortunately, my experience was pretty bad. First of all, the pacing was extremely poor. After the 2nd course, I had to wait over 20 minutes for the 3rd one. I brought it up to the manager, who said I will be prioritized from the next course. From that point, my dishes came out fast (maybe too fast as I wanted to have a few minutes between the courses). Problem here is that they prepare each course in a large batch - they don't make your dishes when they should. Instead, they make batches of 20 or so plates of the same course. So depending on when your dinner started, you would have to wait or get the food rather quickly. Overall my dinner took over 2.5 hours. Secondly, the space is too tight and too noisy. It was very difficult to have a conversation with my friend, and after sitting in a space that felt much like a concert hall and not a relaxing dining room, I was completely exhausted. After we left the restaurant close to 9:30, we called it a night. Lastly, the portions are too big. Some other reviewers mentioned that as well. You can say they are being generous but there needs to be balance as it is a 6-course meal. After course 3, we barely touched the remaining dishes as we were stuffed. Maybe others appreciate the generous portion but it was just too much for me. Overall, it's an interesting concept - global-themed pre-fix courses. Unfortunately, it was just poorly executed. I definitely won't go back.

Visited Six By Nico in Belfast in Waring Street with my Wife and Son yesterday evening. Went for the Classic Six on the "New York" menu. Very out-of-the ordinary courses and a delightful dining experience. "Double Chicken Please" was my personal favourite. All courses perfectly sized, and immaculately served by staff who had a superb knowledge of the ingredients. Timing on each course was perfect, and the staff could not do enough to ensure a very pleasurable and memorable time. Would definitely go back and try the next six on offer. :-)

I booked the Hanoi experience for my sister’s birthday celebration, so to secure a table on a Saturday evening I had to book several weeks in advance. The week before dining I received a promotional email offering the Hanoi experience plus a glass of Prosecco for £32 versus the £39 just for the standard tasting menu. I contacted the restaurant asking to avail of this offer since we already had a table booked for the valid dates. My first email was ignored by the restaurant so I followed up. I was replied to by Amy who stated I had to cancel the table and rebook to avail of the offer… moment of silence for the abysmal customer service. I replied to Amy stating I wouldn’t feel comfortable cancelling my reservation so close to the date since it was booked for a birthday and didn’t understand why this couldn’t be noted on our booking by the restaurant. My email went ignored. On the evening we dined, the poor customer service continued. The birthday went unacknowledged, the wait time between courses was extremely long and no one checked to see if we needed extra drinks or water, a member of our party was shushed when asking about a part of the dish because it wasn’t in the order that the server was describing it. It was honestly embarrassing! Then when the bill arrived, a 12.5% service charge had automatically been added to it for a table of 4. We decreased it to 10% which is standard and generous considering the customer service received up until that point. We have always loved Six By Nico and this is by far the most disappointing experience I have had in a restaurant in Belfast in a long long time. Sort it out!!

We really enjoyed our meal in six by nico and found the accompanying wines a perfect match for each course. Staff were attentive and helpful while explaining each course and wine pairing. We had a table by the window which we were happy with to start but felt the wind and cold air coming in to take away from our dining experience, it's difficult to eat when your shivering with the cold. We did mention this to the server, and they did apologise but offered no solution. We would go back but not to the corner window seat in March!

This evening my partner and I were very excited to try the Hanoi experience, having both lived in Hanoi for a number of years. When we arrived the atmosphere was lovely and the staff were attentive and friendly. The first course arrived and instantly we were underwhelmed with the dish looking like red foam with some tayto onion rings served on top. Being optimistic we continued through the 5 remaining courses expecting Hanoi flavours with the intensity of mint, coriander, lime, garlic and chilli… however the majority of the dishes tasted more European than Asian. The food overall was okay, but the high cost didn’t match what we expected. To describe our experience - We were both underwhelmed and Hanoid that we paid so much for a disappointing experience that didn’t live up to its description.

We have been customers of 6 by nico many times and have always had a great welcome from the staff and management , it was unfortunate this time was so much different. First of all i personally was shooshed and had an open palm in my face by a staff member about to start his talk on the wine . Rude The food was rushed and then before we finished our desert Samantha came to our table and said we couldn’t get a non alcoholic drink as we wouldn’t have time to drink it we needed to vacate our table in 15 minutes . A time I felt would have been ok considering we were still eating dessert. It was my daughter’s 30 th birthday and spoiled the end of our otherwise good day . We took of the service charge and gave a tip to the young girl and then saw Samantha making us ! Not great management there !

I was shown to my table with the tasting experience commencing with a lovely glass of prosecco. The lady with the pisces tattoo and gentleman from Romania truly added to the experience. The fact I'm highlighting the staff for a tasting experience illustrates that for me though the food is second to none it was the delivery that was the cherry on top. Compliments to the chefs. On arrival at the restaurant at 1445on 22/3/24 my husband &i were met by a female who at best could be described as ‘unfriendly!’ Her first words were ‘Can I help you? In a very unfriendly manner! I said we had a table booked and she curtly replied ‘Name!’ I gave her our name and as she was checking her bookings I explained we had a voucher! Without looking up she said , ‘Give it to your server!’ She then proceeded to walk away! My husband and I were looking at each other in total disbelief at the welcome ! We were wondering had she not found our name on her system or why she had walked away! My husband suggested that maybe she had gone to get menus! As we waited we saw her stand at a table and it then became apparent that the table was infact for us! As it was a cold day we both had outside coats on which we had to pile on the seat beside us, I would have thought she might have offered to take them but No! I really enjoyed the dining experience at this restaurant on Mothers Day. The food was absolutely beautiful, each course was full of flavour and nicely presented. The Hanoi menu is my favorite theme so far. I noticed that a “discretionary” 12.5% would be applied to the bill. When our server presented us with the bill, she explained that this charge was included in the total but could be deducted if required. I’m sorry, this just did not sit well with me. I like to tip for good service at MY discretion, I certainly don’t want the management to apply a percentage, determined by them. Also, it embarrasses the customer if they ask to deduct it. Each course was served by a different person, all very polite and cleared away by another server. We didn’t have an opportunity to engage with anyone in particular and at times the service for wine, water etc was a little slow. I never leave a restaurant without leaving a tip but this setup is totally unacceptable. However, as mentioned, the food was enjoyable.

After being seated it didn’t take long for the first course to arrive, I enjoyed most of the courses, plus the explanations from the waiter, my husband thought that some of the courses didn’t gel with him. I had the vegetarian option, he had the standard menu. Overall it was a good experience but I wouldn’t go again. Very pretentious, horrible food overall and rude service staff. We attended on a Saturday afternoon for the Vietnamese tasting menu and left feeling very disappointed. Service - We had 5 different servers all of whom seemed seriously disinterested in serving us, they would serve the dishes before mumbling out the contents and darting off. The food came out very slowly, fairly cold and as the 5th (of 6) courses was set down we were told "we are busy and need this table so if you could hurry things up that would be great) even though we were eating the miniscule portions as soon as they were being delivered. It took around 2.5hrs or them to serve all 6 courses by which stage we were all thoroughly fed up and wanted to leave ASAP anyway. Exceptionally rude to ask guests to leave immediately when the entire reason they're still in attendance is due to the slow service of the kitchen/wait staff. Food - The food was all over the map, out of the 6 courses only 2 were of good quality and flavour. The first dish was supposed to include beef and wild rice in a "seafood foam", it was just a bowl of thousand island dressing laced with shrimp paste (you could smell the paste before the dish even hit the table). None of our table was able to finish it. The chicken dish was appalling, dry chicken coated in a ridiculous amount of charred mustard and caraway seeds - absolutely disgusting, I do a good amount of Asian cooking at an amateur level and even I know not to serve burnt fragrant seeds to guests. The vegetarian option I took instead of the fish course was hilarious, a single floret of charred and punched cauliflower with a variety of random intense flavours on the plate. Whoever created these dishes has a seriously poor understanding of flavour profiles and how to complement ingredients with appropriate flavours. Embarrassing. The price was very high for a lunch too, worked out at £220 for 4 for a lunch and that's with only a single drink delivered to the table. The only redeeming quality of the after on was the physical appearance of each plate and the interior decor was nice - if a little overplayed. We won't be back.

Some sort of humming fan was going on whilst the cleaning was taking place and there was no background music on. When it came to the bill, someone eventually dropped it to our table and there was an extra £50 added on and a £30 service charge. We were then told there was no WiFi and that we couldn't pay by card, and that we were only able to use the credit card used initially for the booking, and then told there was a cash machine outside if we wanted to pay in cash! I then queried the bill and after the original waitress saying 'oh I put that on by mistake earlier and I forgot to take it off' we decided not to pay the service charge. So the bill went from £300 down to £225. So not worth the money and will definitely not be back. A very disappointing experience and atmosphere was awful. Looking around we could see other guests felt the same!

They started on our second course! Felt like we were keeping them back. Really not nice to eat your dinner and watch them spray around the place cleaning. Could hear the staff talking and saying can't wait to get to the pub ! Then when we finished they said the Wi-Fi was down and needed to go and get cash out or they could use the card that the booking was under. So our friends had to pay. Not sure how they looked the booking up when Wi-Fi was not working and they really wanted us to pay cash? They should have told us this before we sat down !! The whole thing was so disappointing as I thought this was a luxury experience and was definitely Not ! would not be back

Awful experience from start to finish. Myself and friends were beyond exited to dine here as a birthday treat. I had got in touch (email and telephone voicemail) a number of times before our evening arrived as one of us is both dairy and gluten free. There was no acknowledgment from NICO. We arrived into a very drab quiet room with quite unfriendly staff that looked at us like we were in the way. There was zero atmosphere. No music and the room was cold. The waiters were extremely hard to understand so when describing the dishes we hadn’t a clue what they were saying. The drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic were extremely overpriced and the food was certainly not worth rushing back for. Time for the bill- wow a shock indeed! Their card machine was not working so my friend, along with the manager are standing in the middle of the dining room for all to see the transaction issues- so unprofessional and unnecessary. I, myself suggested that they go to the till point near the front door. The tip is added onto the bill whether you like it or not. They knew it was a birthday- we sang happy birthday to ourselves, they done nothing to make it a nice experience whatsoever. Absolutely disappointed is an understatement!

I'm coeliac and I went to order something I was told was gluten free only to have them return a few times to tell me things in it weren't actually gluten free. Then I was told I could only substitute things if I was going to pay for then as add ons. This greatly increased the price. Also was extremely salty

Vino a Deanes en Queens antes de ir al Queens Film Theatre a ver a Cónclave el sábado pasado. Sabía que estaba en buenas manos cuando vi al chef Chris Fearon en la cocina. Primera de las cenas de Navidad para mí y no decepcionó. Era un plato delicioso de comida. Una bienvenida muy cálida de Arif en frente de la casa y un servicio amable y eficiente de Martha. Tuve el desierto de trufa de chocolate con sorbete de frambuesa mientras mis dos amigos disfrutaban del helado de panal. Botella de Albariño para lavar todo. Gracias a todos en D@Q por cuidarnos tan bien.

Christmas dinner last night, Pate was poor, I make my own from scratch, Turkey and ham was way overcooked and couldn't cut with knife, just spoonful of carrot, spoonful of mash, and four tiny sprouts, drizzle of gravy, oh my goodness, you need to eat my Christmas dinner if you think this is good
