The Glasshouse in Barnsley

Went for lunch on 7th Feb. Amy was our server, she is really friendly and helpful when making a choice from the menu. She’s a definite asset to the restaurant. Both the food and service were good, the only downside is that unless the customer has someone to share with from the lunchtime menu(2 for £11.99 but there was 3 people) then you have to order something from the main menu which at least that price for 1 meal.

We booked well in advance for 14 people for the 2nd December. We preorded our main courses due to the large number. The restaurant called me the morning of the booking to advise the gammon would be 7oz and the fish was different from our order. I let them know that was fine and we would be there at 5pm Upon arrival it was absolutely freezing inside and when we spoke with the staff they explained the heating had been broken 4 days. If they had informed me of this I would have made other arrangements for my family. This ruined our get together for Christmas as we all sat eating cold food in our coats. Added to the issue was the air conditioning blasting above.

I came here for dinner with my family, first time ever coming here, was served by a young lady named Ebony she was so pleasant and polite and was really understanding and patient with my youngest daughter who has additional needs and sometimes struggles with choosing what she would like to eat. The food was also brilliant would 100 percent recommend to families

Stopped in the hotel adjacent to the restaurant and booked for breakfast, there was a large group, 12 we were seated together in a lovely spacious area. Breakfast wasnt buffet style it was ordered and served to us which I was apprehensive about but pleasantly surprised. All breakfast items were fresh and tasty and the waiter, Harrison was patient with our orders all wanting our eggs done different which was accommodate! A great cuppa too. Definately recommended.👍

Great food. Very clean. Amazing staff who go above and beyond to help me to my table even though they was busy Scott's customer was great then Siobhan took my order customer service I not had other places round barnsley and I do try everywhere. Can't wait to visit next time. Definitely recommend the glasshouse

An earlier than expected end to a commitment gave the chance to have a dinner from the early evening offer here - one of our locals. We had our regular Smothered Chicken and Chicken Tikka Masala. We did note that the amount of chicken in both dishes has reduced - presumably due to cost pressures but still fair value plus we could not fault the cooking or the taste of our meals. Washed down with Merlot and a Doom Bar Pale ale - very pleasant.

We have been up to the Glasshouse on numerous occasions for drinks and although it’s never been amazing as in service it’s always been ok for a few drinks however yesterday was the worst we have ever had. We arrived late afternoon and it was not busy. We stood at the bar for over 5 minutes before someone actually appeared! By this time there were 2 others waiting for drinks. We asked for one coors shandy as driving. When we got to table we realised it was a full pint and had to reluctantly go back to the bar. We decided to order food at 6ish. It took ages and it arrived very cool indeed! It looked sorrowful. Two of us ordered bacon and cheese burger. No bacon! The waitress put the food down and walked away without proving any cutlery or condiments. My husband had to get up and go looking for them! Food was cold and inedible and I returned it. Spoke to manager and was told they only had one cook who was busy. Where we were sat in main bar was not busy. She did offer to make me something else but I was put off. We were given a refund and had to go elsewhere. Honestly really poor. They need more staff!!

What lovely experience at the glasshouse. Kyle as always was friendly and professional remembering our order from previous visit. Friendly throughout our visit this afternoon. Thanks for being a star Kyle. Kelly was also friendly and added to a lovely afternoon xx

Had a lovely meal here this evening with my family, the food was lovely and the service was excellent. Katie was very friendly and understanding with my daughter's dietary needs. Would highly recommend.
