Good location. Great modern rooms. Jonathan, the concierge, was wonderful! He gave us great help with restaurants and took good care of us while we waited for our room after coming in on a red eye. Negatives: lots of noise from a neighboring late-night food court (not the case for all rooms, we stayed there twice); and the continental breakfast was meh.

Although we didn't stay there, the welcome we received entering this hotel was very warm. The man responsible for this was Mr Jonathan. He showed us around the hotel as if it was his own, thank you so much, it made our first day in Edinburgh memorable !

Super high prices, however neither the food nor the service are worth it. The staff are rude, provide no assistance and spend their time laughing and sneering at you. I've had better service at an understaffed MacDonalds!! Appauling.

My family and I did not have a good experience at the Glass House. Here are all the cons: The hotel is squeezed between a giant mall and a Broadway type theater so disregard any pics trying to prove otherwise. Parking is in the mall next door and you have to lug all luggage thru the mall, go outside and the walk down the street to the hotel. They offer no assistance whatsoever. This is going to sound petty but at every other Marriott we are greated as preferred members and treated as such. Not here, they couldn't care less. We were given ADA rooms and when we asked to change they refused because it was supposedly sold out. But the very next morning, my son and his girlfriend were given a new room. The toilets don't have water and are airplane style using air suction. This is very loud and it leaves a mess unless you flush multiple times. You can hear all the rooms flushing around you!! Lastly, the rooms are just OK but the hallways and hotel, other than the lobby, are a bit dated. We travel all over the world and can honestly say this was one of our biggest Marriot disappointments.

We enjoyed our stay at this quaint location. I thoroughly suggest a garden view, it's beautiful. The service was excellent at the front desk and Snug Bar. Unfortunately housekeeping constantly failed to arrive and we had to request service. Owing to the pandemic many services were shut down . We did have breakfast which was excellent. The rooms are somewhat tired and the toilet sounds like an airplane with jet propelled suction. All in all a good hotel in a prime location. There are also excellent restaurants close by on Broughton Street. One problem is that is is not possible for taxis to stop directly outside to offload luggage.

We got a gift for us to stay here in December when we where over visiting. We where made welcome at reception and made welcome and the rooms where ok but are looking a bit tired . The reception and the snug bar was very nice . It’s worth a stay but what let our visit down was the chamber made constantly knocking on the door to clean our room which started at 0830hrs in the morning. Other than that it was ok.

. . y tienes 2 veinteañeros a cuestas?

We had our office Christmas night out at the glass house and unfortunately it didn’t live up to my expectations. The marquee type structure was ok and there was a great view of the castle but no onsite toilets and we only had access to two toilets between 60+ people (male and female) so the queues were consistent for most of the evening. When it comes to food I always temper my expectations for these party nights but at best it was average, the portions were not in any way generous and it did seem that the key concern was around ensuring this was easy for the kitchen rather than it being a great dining experience for the customer. Re the bar, there was a small fridge with only one type of bottled beer so I had to ask for some alternate options (this clearly hasn’t been considered beforehand). On a positive note, the DJ was great and played some of my favourite tunes but that’s of course pretty subjective!I understand that the Glass House is a 5 star hotel and perhaps if our night was in the hotel itself the nature of the review would be quite different. So I would be at pains to stress that this is not a review of the hotel itself but if our office Christmas party at the glass house next year then I will not be there .

We booked a table for Saturday evening and arrived at the hotel reception at the time we had booked the table for not realising it would take another ten minutes of lifts and long corridors to get to the restaurant. My wife has mobility issues and found the whole thing very painful and tiring. When we eventually arrived at the restaurant only three other tables were occupied and they all soon left making us the only diners in an otherwise large empty room . Eventually another group of four people arrived dut it does not create a nice atmosphere. The room also became cold towards the end of our meal.

We were so pleased after train rides and touring when we checked in weary that the bed/pillow was as incredibly comfortable as we had found since arriving n the UK several days earlier. This modern, attractive hotel set, somewhat confusingly over a multiplex cinema about ten mins ( conveniently) from the royal mile and most walking tours was an extremely comfortable, spacious and appealing place. We spent our first lovely evening on. The rooftop garden sipping champagne in relative solitude. It is beautiful with expansive views of almost 360 degrees of Edinburgh. At breakfast we had the best croissants we have tasted outside of France! We highly recommend this lovely and relaxing hotel!

A modern hotel with a historic stone facade, used as a setting for the beauty of the hotel's glass walls. The distance to the entrance from the curb is tiny bit more than your typical hotel, but the extra 17 strides are worth it. What a warm welcoming staff. Efficient, friendly check-in process with a nice Marriott Plat upgrade to a larger room with an balcony and a view right out of the movies. However - safety tip - the balcony is really one long balcony sectioned off by planters and a low glass panel separating each of the room balconies. (See photo.) So do not sleep with the door open! The balcony rooms have a slated screen separating the bed from the sofa area... kind off a modern take on a small suite. Bathrooms have both a large tub AND a separate large shower... pretty darn perfect.Wonderful service at the breakfast buffet and perfect late night service in the lounge area. The ground plan is a hair funky and be sure to inquire about accessibility if you have that as a concern. I believe one floor does not have level access to the elevator and you must use a staircase, an attractive staircase mind you, but do "mind the steps."Great location to everything Edinburgh, but not a tourist trap area. Next door to the Playhouse. Several great restaurants in the area as well. All in all, this hotel, along with Edinburgh in general, will entice you to return again and again. Great property. Great people.Great choice.

Visited for afternoon tea on a glorious day, lovely welcome at reception and personally escorted to the restaurant - a necessity - and then met by Maria who was a most personable server. Then came the let down, we knew that it wasn't a traditional tea and were excited to see just what the various offerings would be. However, our eager anticipation was short lived! for some reason most items were burnt - not highly baked but burnt - the mini toastie, the dubious haggis ball and even the muffin that the smoked salmon was presented on was blackened round the edges! The scone mixture defies description - quite the most odd texture, edible but not pleasant. Soft shortbread, rock hard macaroon and a small meringue base for the single raspberry that would almost guarantee a visit to the dentist if brave enough to eat it! The only nice elements were the egg filled croissant and the blueberry sponge, the rest was less than average. Should a Hotel try to rethink the traditional afternoon tea then, apart from being very brave, they MUST get it right in both presentation and food quality. Sadly, even the presentation was questionable being on well used wooden 'platforms'.All in all a visit that won't be repeated - unless we read otherwise from other Tripadvisor reviews.

11 of us went for afternoon tea on Saturday to celebrate a friend's birthday. We were told it would be £26 pp. I was keen to pay for it at the beginning but to my shock they had automatically added on 10% service charge- even though the menu states clearly that service charge is at your distraction. The service was super and we would definitely have tipped but only because we wanted to not forced to. A few of us then went to the bar and 10% extra was automatically added to each bill- making the prices very different from their menu. Such a shame as it was a lovely afternoon tea.

We stayed here a couple of nights, and the best thing the hotel has to offer is its location (in the center, minutes away from the Royal Mile and Princess Street). Although it pretends to be a five star, the hotel itself didn't impress... I've seen cleaner showers before, the carpet in the hallways had a strange color to them (still can't figure whether they were stained or that was just the type of carpet), the iron in the room was broken (literally, the metal tip of the iron was broken), the whole hotel theme was confusing...is it a modernist theme, a classic, a mix of both? The breakfast was ok, the staff was overall courteous, although I thought a bit impersonal and artificial. We did get upgraded to a garden view room, which was definitely nice, but if you cherish your privacy you really can't keep your curtains or door open because everyone walking about the garden can peek inside your room. Overall a good hotel, but if I were to rank it against other 5 or even 4 stars (for the price), I'd have to just rank it average.

Staying overnight to celebrate a major birthday my expectations of staying in this 5 star establishment were high but unfortunately went somewhat unmet. The staff and even the executive room were good with a nice touch of a personal card to wish me birthday greetings. However, there was a lack of attention to small details that meant it never reached the heights expected of a top hotel that we have experienced at other and less expensive hotels. When you pay for one night which could get you a week in any reasonable hotel, you are looking for that wow factor or at least service above the rest. Sadly the experience was just that bit underwhelming and the exceptional overnight stay hoped for never quite materialised.Pity as being only a mile from home it didn't feel that we made the right choice and my significant birthdays and funds are beginning to run out to try this too often!

We were greeted and seated well enough but it all went downhill from then, there seemed to be very little staff and although not a huge restuarant it was maybe about 80% full. We placed our food order but still had to ask if we could order wine as noone offered to take a drinks order. After 20 minutes we were informed that the scallops had run out which 3 of our party had ordered we were offered no alternative other than to re-choose from the menu which we did. The starters arrived and everyone agreed they were very bland and one duck starter was undercooked, whilst waiting for the main we witnessed waiting staff rearranging food on plates coming from the kitchen with their fingers and what seemed to be a communal cheeseboard left out with no cover or refrigeration whatsoever during our entire visit, people leaving with no goodbye or acknowledgement from staff and having to retrieve their own coats ( my party also had to retrieve our coats on our own which meant sliding past the counter containing said cheeseboard not very hygenic) When our mains arrived again everyone agreed that they were all very bland and the roast potatoes ordered as a side were practically cremated. When we went to complain the supervisor reminded us (once too many times in my opinion) that we were on a voucher offer so she couldn't do anything about refunding us and that the problem was a table of 13 had come in just before us now I booked this table over a month ago who is coming in to eat at the same time as me is the restaurants problem and not mines, she then said she would see what she could do with the remaining bill she came back and said she would remove the roast potatoes (,we would not have paid for them anyway) and took a bottle of wine off the bill , by this time we were so fed up we paid for the remaining bottle of wine and left. It certainly felt like we were second class citizens behind the table of 13 who weren't i imagine using a voucher but I should have reminded her that voucher or not the awful meal and service cost my party just shy of £150 and that we didn't actually get the voucher for free. All in all a very disappointing trip to aa 5 star establishment

I booked a room at the glass house via a hotel booking site as we had been here last year and loved this hotel. I had mentioned that it was our 25th anniversary celebration and upon arriving we were told we have the best room in the hotel. Room 331. Stunning room and massive. Glass house Edinburgh thank you. Only downside I'm afraid is your room service. No cutlery. Wrong drinks and overlooked chips and pizza. Sorry but I own a restaurant and for 5 star this wasn't good. Your hotel is fantastic and location is tremendous. Just your kitchen and service from there needs attention. Same sort of thing happened last year. I will be back again though. Love your hotelValy Ossman

Consiglio? Andate altrove.

Pleasantly surprised to find this hotel is part of the Marriott chain (my travel agent booked it so I did not know that I could get Marriott points for staying here... A bonus!). Good location but, you need to like to walk to get to the real attractions. Walking to the castle would be all uphill and is probably close to 2 miles away... Too far for our arthritic knees, although, we were able to walk back! Hotel is modern and offers nice amenities. Staff has been very helpful and extremely pleasant! We would return!

Fantastic day out at The Glass House Edinburgh and would thoroughly recommend the Afternoon Tea for something different to do whilst in the city. Stunning views from the dining room with a very professional, warm and friendly service. Divine food complimented with a fantastic range of bespoke teas and a glass of Prosecco. A definite five star experience.

We loved our room, the terrace and roof top garden. Location was nice as it was close to the attractions, but far enough away to escape the crowds. I gave it three stars because at the end of the day, a clean nice room is what you want. The hotel though is missing on the customer service aspect and for this reason, we will never return or recommend it.We did struggle with the indifferent staff who was unhelpful and quite unpleasant. It started upon our arrival where we were left to carry in a large amount of luggage, while our car was double parked on the street. Next, it was the unfriendly women at check in who couldn't muster a smile let alone the motivation to provide a map and directions. This manner continued for the duration of our stay from passing staff in the hallways to the breakfast crew who clearly did not have their morning coffee. Besides two male workers that were in the lobby when we departed the hotel, management should look at a complete overhaul of their staff, starting with the HR person that hired such an unpleasant crew.

Incredible place! The whole place is amazing! From the Service to the way you are treated! The only thing I would say is service at breakfast was a little iffy! Need to be run a bit better! But overall it was a lovely experience.

The hotel is very close to all the sites in the city, but the rooms are set up to have views of a huge garden with large glass walls. The rooms are slightly small but very trendy. The prices were rational for the location.

We stayed at the glass house for our first weekend away for my boyfriends birthday. When we arrived we were really excited the location was amazing and it looked gorgeous.... However the staff and service were a complete let down and really ruined our experience. We were greeted by a staff member who was very unhelpful and couldn't understand basic English so our questions couldn't be answered. My boyfriends parents had arranged for us to have a bottle of champagne and strawberries to be delivered which were meant to be a surprise however we Didn't receive the gift so when we asked reception what had happened they knew about the presents but they just hadnt made it to us which we thought was very poor customer service, then my inlaws rang and requested to use the money to pay for our breakfast in bed instead... When we checked out they hadn't even taken the breakfast off our bill so it was just one let down after another!! Really ruined our stay. I expected more from this hotel chain I stay in hotels every week for work and I know this is poor and unacceptable customer service we didnt even receive an apology. Wouldn't recommended this hotel.

I stayed here on a Thursday night doing a first reconnaissance to establish if this hotel could be our new base adjacent to our new East End office location. On arrival I was firstly delighted to learn that i could use my Marriott rewards card (as the hotel is under the Marriott umbrella but retains individual status under the "Autograph Collection") on presenting my gold card and informing them of the reason for my visit I was upgraded to a suite overlooking Princess Street. Quite simply the suite was superb and, frankly up there with the best in the world I have stayed in (and I have stayed in a few) Super sized room with great comfy bed, plenty of shelves, drawers and desk/table space to cover your every need whilst there. Large bathroom with, WC, Bath, large shower cubicle and bidet. As well as that the room opened up to the outside onto a large balcony with a funky table and chair set. Absolutely stunning! Breakfast was served in the Conservatory on the second floor (Accessed from third floor via glass central staircase) and we were cheerfully served by a delightful Spanish lady who could not have been more attentive. I will be back, I cannot give the Hotel a higher accolade than that!!!

We stayed in one of the De Luxe suites, with great access to the terrace garden given that it was February.Overlooking "The Hill". Loved the room with its separator, light airy, lovely bathroom. We only ate breakfast in the Observatory, but that was in fact excellent. The location is central which suited us very well for our 3 night city break.

Right next door to the Playhouse Theatre, very close to Bus Station and Waverley Station....no to mention John Lewis, we enjoyed our overnight stay very much. Good pre-theatre supper served in The Snug and delicious breakfast next morning. Roof garden and bedroom windows looking out at Calton Hill....very peaceful and quiet. Bedrooms excellent, lights in bathroom quickly fixed on request, and a Nespresso coffee machine, perfect!

Pleasant and comfortable hotel. Staff was fairly attentive and friendly. Hotel beginning to show signs of wear and tear but nothing too significant. One thing I did wish I had known... There is a movie theatre attached to this hotel! While most of the time you would never know it however the "bass vibrations" could be felt and heard in our room. It wasn't enough of an issue to keep us away next visit but I think for the price point it's worth noting, otherwise it was pretty enjoyable hotel.

My husband and I stayed here on the last leg of our honeymoon in Scotland. We were excited as we had heard great things about it but did not get off on the right foot. They were undergoing construction and provided nothing in return for the inconveniences of hanging wires, no front doors, etc etc. We have stayed in hotels all over the world and most do everything to cater to you when they are undergoing such construction - The Glass House did not. Overall, the room was nice and had a balcony overlooking a square and then the bathroom was amazing. The room itself was clean but he hallways, elevator, main lobby were in disarray. There are other nice hotels in Edinburgh that we may check out nice time due to the lack of added benefits or service with regards to the construction.

It is evident that this hotel was once 5 star but not anymore . Housekeeping staff observed us leaving our room. On our return we found they had had taken the do not disturb sign form inside door handle and placed it on the outside as an exuse not clean the room and this happend more than once. on entering the bathroom the first thing you see is a sign from the management pleadingley asking you not to use a lot towels. It can be very disappointing to return after a days sightseeing to find your room just as you left it with no tea coffee or milk. The only thing that is keeping this hotel open is it's location. Tvs are verry old and small and display a distorted picture. Staff were very friendly so this is why i give 2 stars

Incase we used mini bar or there honesty bar...maybe not £8.00 a nip......we have stayed in many 4-5 star hotels and this was the worst...bed uncomfortable 2 singles pushed together please..paint work chipped..bed not made properly.no water to drink 2 small milks for tea...tv had to be fixed to watch..and the staff unhelpful and a bit rude....there was one staff who is obviously a part of the room service team who should be running the show he treated us 5 star

Personale gentile e premuroso.

Pretty standard fair for a Costa but the queues inside can take a while to get moving. If you're short of time, make sure to go through the drive thru instead as that moves at double the speed of inside

We wondered around many other places and decided for this places because of the initial kindness of the waitress when we where passing by and had a question. Went back for lunch and had a great lentil soup, salmon with salad and green juice. We decided to go back the next day, as we wanted something different from the regular pizza, hamburgers and such offered around. It did not disappoint, great place, very small and wonderful views of the castle

This was my first time here, and It was very good! My only complaints were that the drinks came a while before the food & that the small breakfast egg was quite greasy. The food tasted great though & the presentation was lovely. The tables were cleared efficiently as customers left & it was overall a rather peaceful atmosphere. Would recommend.
