I went to the new Gilbertine Kitchen in Tetbury. Food was lovely, decor sophisticated, friendly service, with good ambience. Would definitely go again.

Sadly a bad experience yesterday. Ordered blueberry pancakes and had to repeat myself at the till. However when they arrived it was bacon pancakes and the staff member said I’d ordered them; I’m vegetarian so definitely didn’t! They replaced my dish very quickly with blueberries and I asked for reassurance that they hadn’t just removed the bacon off the top and added blueberries. The guy checked with the kitchen and they had, so I asked for a fresh dish that had no contact with meat. To add insult to injury when I got home and looked at my receipt I’d been charged for bacon pancakes when I had repeated myself twice at the till, my friend was with me and confirmed this. To say I was disgusted about the way they handled the situation thinking that it was acceptable to take the bacon and top pancake off and then add a fresh pancake and blueberries when the meat juices would have been in the dish. I felt very disrespected so won’t be going there again. In this day and age of high numbers of vegan/vegetarians I think the staff need further training on food hygiene and respecting their customers. A very disappointed customer.

Great spot, friendly staff. Like it. Major problem is the coffee tastes of plastic because they use Huskee cups made of Polypropylene. Please can you use normal cups?

Love this little place, staff so nice and food always first class. Very clean and plenty of places to sit outside. There is covered seating but but super limited. I have eaten most thinks off the menu and all good. Today I ordered the Chicken and halloumi naked burrito. It was delicious.

Amazing as always. My sister brought me last year after raving about it. Since then we’ve made several return trips. I’d like to say I’ve tried all the menu, but that would be a lie. The burrito & burrito are SO good. The flavours, yummy. I can’t quite work out which but gives me the zing, so every time I go I try to ask what I’m which sauce. The Crema Verde is bursting with flavour. I’d actually try to get a job there just to be able to recreate this dish at home. Actually I’d probably work for free if they showed me all their secrets! Staff always friendly. Today I think they were a little short staffed, but they are like swans- calm on the surface but working their butts off. Keep up the good work.

Situated on the entrance of a pristine office/business park in the middle of the countryside - dog friendly with waymarked walks. Limited seating space inside, but covered tent- like adjacent to car park, and numerous tables outside with umbrellas. The menu is imaginative, burritos etc., best gluten free bacon sandwich I have ever had. Will be visiting again, preferably when there is less rain!

We enjoyed our brunch at the Gilbertine Kitchen, but the broader environment wasn't very welcoming. The cafe's Facebook page stated that it was ethical, and set in the grounds of a Priory. We were imagining a lovely garden, old building, and natural products. We arrived on foot, and passed several signs ordering us to wash all mud from our feet before even entering the area - which turned out to be the concrete car park of business units, with a few highly manicured and clinically weeded flower beds - all of which is probably to some people's taste, but too austere for ours. However the service was excellent, and the food and drinks were good. I'm not sure how the owners define ethical, as I couldn't see any environmentally friendly products in the cafe or bathroom, or animal welfare or Fairtrade measures on the menu. The (very helpful) staff didn't know whether the bacon was from factory farmed or outdoor reared pigs; if you're advertising yourself as an ethical business, your staff need to know these things. Still, I enjoyed my good-sized breakfast burrito very much - though I hope the eggs aren't from caged hens!

The perfect start to a Saturday with great coffee and even better food. A hidden gem which is definitely worth the trip and we can’t wait to come back in the summer with the dogs. Did I mention Pippins Doughnuts also available?! Thank you

Excellent customer service. They served everything in beautiful cups/plates (rather than disposables which has become the norm for most cafes nowadays). It ticked all the boxes for me: Cleanliness 10/10 Value for money 10/10 Eco conscious 10/10 Quality 10/10 We will be going back!

What a great place. Tucked away down a pretty private road in lovely countryside. We did a nice dog walk through their estate and neighbouring farmland for about a 4 mile circular route and finished back at the Gilbertine for an awesome burrito, genius. Nothing to fault them really, plenty to eat aside from cotswold-mex fare, plenty of cyclists enjoying bacon sarnies and tea. Good covid-savvy set up. 2 nice clean toilets.

Some friends of ours had found this place on a cycle ride and recommended it. Really good food. (We both had burritos - one chipotle chicken and one shrimp) Only niggle. There is a "disabled toilet". But this does not offer level access (small step up into it) And there are no grab rails. Though it is clearly big enough for a wheelchair. I am ambulent disabled so managed. But if you're a wheelchair user you'd struggle

We called here for breakfast having stayed room only at a local pub the previous evening. We didn’t want a full breakfast so our google searches led us here. What an absolute gem! The staff are lovely and I’m always awkward with my bacon, I always ask for it almost cremated and they did it perfectly! The sandwiches are served on sourdough bread which is also sold (my eyes lit up when I saw them!) so I brought one away with us. Hot drinks are served in really good size cups so we had an absolutely fabulous breakfast. Wonderful place 😊

This cafe has the best home made scones and bread and butter pudding. The food is so delicious and a reasonable price. I would definitely recommend a visit!!

By luck we chose this restaurant for lunch and loved it so much went again the following evening. Smiths is a charming restaurant full of character, with a number of low-ceiling rooms. We had the” scotchy burger” both times and it was absolutely sensational. Cooked to perfection, full of flavour and quite possibly the best burger I (and my wife) have ever had or could remember having (and I’ve had a few!). The cajun fries were also perfectly cooked and added a spicy side to a (moderately) spicy burger and we left wishing this place wasn’t 2 hours away! The staff were friendly , especially the young blonde lady who was so welcoming and accommodating to us and also made the delicious chocolate mousse special that we had for desert. Definitely advisable to pre-book, this place gets very busy, and deservedly so.

The guy who works here is rude and condescending. Dare you not be a perfect coffee expert and ask for advice on which drink to choose.
