The Giddy Bridge in Southampton

It’s a typical ‘spoons. The toilet has the aroma of, well, a Wetherspoons toilet. There are lots of local pubs that are a bit more expensive but you get what you pay for. I wouldn’t return on the basis of the incredibly rude and unhelpful member of staff that I encountered.

It was quiet being that it was breakfast time. Only saw two staff, And many tables were full of plates. But understandable if understaffed. The food came promptly and was very nice

Honestly never known staff like it, all on their phones in the corner hiding waited 20 minutes to get serves, stupid queuing nonsense, then barrel went on my drinks...no explanation why I was stood waiting for another 5 minutes...spilt half my pint as she put it on the bar and wondered why I gave her a weird look...awful service...careless.

Best Wetherspoons in Southampton. A bit more spacious than the others. Good value for money.

Great friendly bar staff & door staff plus managers are all very friendly & helpful but think the ladies loos let it down 👇 it's often dirty with paper on floor or wet through everywhere plus a cpl doors don't lock very well & hand dryers blow out cold plus lots of the high chairs near windows are loose & wobble. This is a regular pub myself & partner use x

Very busy and not a lot of seating.

Food was okay, low amount of chips for a meal in comparison to other spoons. Service was fine, facilities were adequate but not that clean (dirty tables and previous meals left on tables)

Lovely pub, as you can expect from a Wetherspoons. Staff were lovely and drinks all arrived nice and fast along with the food that we all ordered off the app. Lovely outdoor seating area with a good view of town.

Good old spoons, food came out quick n as always tasted good.

Just like any other weatherspoons. Service was quick but the pub was quiet.

Usual menu guaranteed, quick service, and best prices in the area. Also, 5 minutes walk from all harbour amenities.

Nice, friendly and welcoming pub. The staff there are nice and friendly. A good quiet place to just sit back, chill and relax! Better than The Scholars Arms.

Foods up to wetherspoons standards, Good, although there was a hair in my cousins panini, but that happens a lot more than you'd think even in a 5-star hygiene rating place. Service was okay, nothing special, they delivered the food quickly and hot even though it was in the peak hours of getting food, although the app was broken at that time so it we had to order at the bar. The atmosphere was chaotic and was too open, lotta noise.

Good prices and selection of drinks and food but slow table service and a decent evening spoiled by an obnoxious off-duty member of staff.

You just can't go wrong with a wetherspoons breakfast, ordered on the app and it was delivered quickly. Obviously it's not a 5 star restaurant but for what you pay it's a cracking breakfast

Like most Wetherspoons The Giddy Bridge hit the spot!

The reason I rate this so low is that the food my friend and I ordered looked like child's meals. They treated very unappetising. My friend had a very small burger and I had a piece of plain chicken. It was Luke warm and rubbery. The food was literally plonked on the table with dirty cutlery by a member of staff who didn't know how to smile or engage. I appreciate it was a busy Friday night but customer service and food quality shouldn't waver. Whilst I can't prove this but after eating here I had to be in hospital with food poisoning. Not a good experience.

Roof top terrace, great service and the food is actually on point. I had the ramen which was quite surprisingly good. A good spoons this one. Went back for breakfast which was spot on.

Quality of food is kind of expected from Wetherspoon, but the cleanliness of that place can be improved in order to get the 5 star rating

After getting off our cruise ship early morning and going back to our parked cars in a taxi we was near this Wetherspoons pub so opted for breakfast before our long drive home to Sheffield. As usual it was great value as we ordered off the app, I had the large breakfast at £6.59 which included 2 fried eggs, 2 sausages, bacon, beans, mushrooms, 3 hash browns and 2 slices of toast. Great value washed down with a cup of tea.

Quick service and lovely beer garden. I didn't eat but have returned several times for drinks and will continue to do so when I visit Southampton.

Large mixed grill was excellent apart from the chips . Meat was cooked to perfection.. pizza was delicious. Negative thing was there was no ketchup in any of the condiment department. Had to ask twice to finally get some

A few months ago, I caught someone going through my stuff. Rather than them kick the thief out, they told me to leave. A few days ago, people cut in front of others and, again, the management prioritised them over the decent customers. Here’s an idea. If you don’t operate a queue system, then don’t be so slow and let queues form. And then let people jump said line. Absolutely terrible establishment. The staff happily let horrid people say and do what they like, then ban those that complain and stand up to such people rather than them. All the while indulging fat, blotchy-faced bullies to play excessive vigilante. I hope they all get what’s coming to them and the place gets shut down.

Great food and service,the reason for the 4 star rating is all the down and outs hanging around begging etc otherwise great pub.

Only aspect that lets this place down, as is the case in a few Wetherspoons pubs, is the poor statevof the Gents toilets, in partuclar the WC cubicles and WCs themselves. As this does not directly impinge on the 3 categories for Star Rating assessment the 5star rating has been retained by me. However other reviewers may well feel different and downgrade as they see fit.

Love the giddy, it needs some TLC inside and a refurb but is a great place to meet friends and obviously the bar prices are very cheap compared to every other non Wetherspoons pub

Scammed my money. Accidentally ordered 2 portion and asked if I can cancel 1 and get a refund. They told me yes, and even said that they’ve already started the refund process. But to this day, a month later, I’m still waiting for this refund. Been in contact with customer service who says they’ve been trying to contact this specific Wetherspoon to no response !

I accidentally ordered two Chicken Tikka Masalas and asked the staff if I could get a refund. They agreed, and when I checked at the end of our meal, they confirmed it had been processed and would show up in my bank account in a few days. However, the refund never appeared. I contacted their customer service, but after three weeks, the issue still hasn't been resolved. Additionally, during our visit, a creepy guy approached and harassed our female friend inside the restaurant. My suggestion is to better monitor who enters the restaurant to ensure a safer atmosphere for us!

I've been to many wetherspoons pubs and this has to be one of my favourites, it has amazing spaces within it, the rooftop terrace is an absolute delight when the weather is good. Service and customers are very friendly and approachable, I definitely recommend coming here

The chips where nice that I had and drink that I had was nice and the place was clean and the people that was working there was nice and friendly.

A nice Wetherspoons in a great location near to Guildhall and the premier inn. Cheap drinks and nice atmosphere in the upstairs bit. Popped in for breakfast which is great value for money.

Wetherspoons closed on a Sunday lunchtime ? Power cut? Other pubs in same city and even street open. Rubbish

Worst wetherspoons I have been to for service, food was mediocre at best, Claimed to be short staffed which should never be used as an excuse! We went on to the Scholar arms (Greene King) far better !

Pretty standard Wetherspoons fare, but the chips were not hot, only mildly warm. Cheap, but not particularly cheerful!

Been to Southampton FC St Mary's Stadium Southampton before,then visited the pub for a drink & something nice to eat - Ordered a double burger & chips which was delicious,service was awesome - Pub is very close to the centre of Southampton,lots of seating & great atmosphere!!!

our waiter iain was absolutley amazing!! he’s such a lovely person, and absolutley brilliant at his job. i went out with a friend after having quite a stressful day, and he was 10/10. will definitely be here again! thank you so much iain!!

I was discriminated because of a disability I have. When I came here I didn’t expect much… it’s a spoons. I came for some food. Walked in did nothing, spoke to no one. Didn’t get served. I was told I was too drunk ( I wasn’t drunk I had one drink) they decided they didn’t like me because I had a disability and decided I was too drunk to be served… not drunk I have a disability. When we came in my friend who is also my carer told the bouncer she was my carer. Was that the reason? Because I have a carer to help me function. Probably. The Manager I guess was okay as he did APPARENTLY give me a refund. (Probably lied, we’ll see in a few day) however you could tell the manger was just being nice so I wouldn’t complain. Also whilst I was in there, constant stares from the people that worked there. I have never been so disrespected in my life, you caused me to have an anxiety attack ON MY BIRTHDAY. And completely ruined my night. Shame on you and your staff, you need to be trained on disability’s and also recognise people who are actually drunk, because I saw a LOT of people who were way to drunk, falling over, and they didn’t get kicked out? I do see this as an attack. You guys targeted me because I had a disability and you knew I had one so I shouldn’t have to explain myself.

My colleagues and I popped in here for a drink whilst enroute too another bar, and it was okay. I hate the lemonade in Wetherspoons so we didn’t stay long we had 2 or 3 drinks and carried on. Standard spoons. The females toilets were disgusting? Actually was nearly sick because of the smell! Awful. The upstairs smoking area is a vape/smoke free area? Can this be explained, I don’t get what the issue is, it’s outside?

A quiet start to a Sunday morning with a hearty, good value breakfast. Not the most interesting Wetherspoons but the staff were nice. Interesting to see quite a few pints being downed at 09.30 and drug availability being discussed in one corner

Popped in for breakfast with my two kids. Ordered on the app, paid on the app so easy. Waited 45 minutes for two fruit bowls and a cooked breakfast. Fruit bowls were 47% apple, 47% banana, 6% blueberries that was it... Sausage was cold, beans, cold, egg plastic & inedible, toast literally black underneath. Bacon tasted like it was cooked don a burnt griddle. Sadly worst breakfast I've had in ages.

Extremely busy when I went but efficient and well run as per all wetherspoons. Food was good drinks as expected good. Good value, good loos and facilities. A good visit

The music wasn't great but my mates sister works there and she's fit so I can't complain about much. Bumps on the sun roof and all that.

A fairly nice Wetherspoon establishment so it is familiar. It had the bonus of a very nice roof terrace.

waited an hour for our drinks and after half hour we asked sthe bar staff when they would be ready and they rudely told us we had to wait, after this someone who looked like a manger come up to me and my friend who was waiting by the bar for our ids he then asked my other friend and then come back to the friend i was with accusing her of having my other friends id considering they are twins! he then rudely accused them of lying about being twins due to them have different types of id on them, after an hour of waiting for our drinks and the manger taking my friends id away from them until we could comfirm, me showing them both of their snapchats to prove they weren’t lying about being twins we finally got our drinks, staff were very rude and not helpful at all

We waited for our drinks for an hour and after half an hour of waiting we asked the staff at the bar were the drinks were and they rudely answered and said we just have to wait. Then the manager was accusing me of lying about being a twin and took for my friend to show her Snapchat for him to realise and finally give us our drinks. Absolutely disgusting!

One of the servers, i believe her name is Christina, red hair, was extremely rude, not just to me but to the customers next to us aswell. If you are going to refuse service for lack of ID, maybe you need to ID before you bring the drinks over as many establishments do. Me and my friend, Visably over the age of 25 and my friend was made to go home and get her ID, very rudely might i add. Then the same situation happened to a group on a table next to us who were obviously non english speaking, where her attitude with these men was absolutely disgusting. i usually enjoy being here but today she made it an awful experience.

Disgusting mens toilets.one wasn't flushing and was full up and the other no toilet seat.i thought they inspected toilets hourly.This was on Saturday at 1.00pm Update Just revisited today 29 Dec and toilets still blocked up.toilet check list hadn't been signed for 4 hours.disgusting.will inform SCC public health Update 21feb Hooray toilets now flush and clean.downside large hole in door where lock was.So be aware anyone can walk in in you when on toilet

Centrally located to meet up with mates for beer and chat. Great service and food this visit. Bar staff very engaging and great to see all pumps on with selection of ale. Food also arrived piping and quickly. Big improvement on last visit. Guess it’s all down to the Team on duty !
