Hoy vino a comer al nuevo One O Four (no sé si todavía está en Ebb & Flow pero no puede encontrar One O Four en ningún lado) pidió un desayuno vegetariano y aguacate, pollo ciabatta. Éramos los únicos clientes allí, por lo que supusimos que obtendríamos nuestra comida con bastante rapidez. 40 minutos más tarde finalmente conseguimos nuestras comidas después de perseguirlos.

Fuimos a comer a fines de julio, con amigos de trabajo en la recomendación.

Este lugar ha sido rebautizado UNO O cuatro en las últimas semanas y, en general, una experiencia mejor que antes. Los cócteles eran buenas - 2 por £8 entre 5 - 10:00 y me parecía bueno también. La cocina cierra a las 6 de la tarde, que creo que es una pena, ya que las tiendas cierran alrededor de esta época también. Parece que hemos perdido una oportunidad cerraba este temprano como que sirve hasta las 7 - 8 pm sin proporcionar alimentos a los compradores de parar. Personal se disculpó (que pedimos y pagamos por la comida antes de que nos dijeron que era demasiado tarde) y proporciona un cóctel gratis. Estaba contento con eso. La comida es muy buena, así que volveré a probar. Buen ambiente en el interior. Pequeña zona exterior es bueno. No hay ceniceros para los fumadores, lo cual me imagino que pueden conducir a exhibirse.

Hoy estuve con mi amigo para un desayuno. Aguacate en tostadas, pedimos salmón en tostadas y dos tortitas con bacon. Esperamos 30 minutos en el restaurante vacío para recibir de Tesco en tostadas de guacamole! ! ! ! Eso es una broma! Mi amigo dejó su plato con salmón en tostadas en el suelo. Pero vi que personal nadie se molestó en venir, limpio, mi amigo necesitaba limpiar por sí mismo. Rowel camarera preguntó sobre mojado que no sé si ella puede hacer eso! ! Después de que ella finalmente trajo seca. Personal no importaba y la comida no worrh dinero

Fuimos a la hora del almuerzo, ya que parecía un lugar divertido para tener algo de comer y fue afortunadamente con aire acondicionado en lo que era un día muy caliente.

Quirky menu - I chose a starter including warm avocado which was frankly disappointing. Others were happy with their. Coffee was wishy-washy.

Visitamos alrededor de las 10 de la noche un sábado para una copa rápida en el camino a casa. No demasiado concurrida, pero lo suficiente como para tener un ambiente. Pedimos unos cócteles. Estaban bien, pero creo que debe ser servido en vasos altos como el vaso estaba lleno hasta la bandera y no parecía demasiado especial. Un hombre estaba tocando la guitarra en esta visita, que me gusta mucho la idea de y sería bueno que esto era una cosa habitual, no estoy seguro de ninguna manera. Volveremos de nuevo para conseguir un mejor sabor del lugar.

Came in last night for cocktails and nacho's, very nice atmosphere! Food was delicious! And cocktails were outstanding! Bar staff were very attentive and energetic! Very nice to be able to have a laugh with bar staff and being treated so exceptionally well! Well done ebb, yet another enjoyable night!!

Mi amiga y yo fuimos en esta tarde sobre las 6 de la tarde para el té y café. Cuando le pregunté si me dijo chica café bar máquina de café está ahora cerrado y me he preguntado a qué hora cierran respuesta fue 9:00 pm. Así que decidimos tomar un té. Expresión cara. Era como es trabajo muy desagradable que hacer para ella, así que supongo que lo. . . Nos fuimos y nos cafetería al otro lado de la carretera. Movimiento y flujo solía ser mi lugar favorito. Solía ser.

Cuando entramos, no había ningún otro cliente que probablemente dice mucho sobre el lugar. Nos sentamos independientemente y ordenados comida y bebidas. Nos dimos cuenta de que el precio del menú no coincide con el importe y cuando les preguntamos nos habían cobrado 5 libras, que para ser justos fue devuelto sin ningún problema. Mientras espera la comida, me di cuenta de lo frío que estaba, a pesar de que ha sido congelada fuera del aire acondicionado estaba soplando a tope. La comida llegó y fue duro y rancio. El vaso de coca-cola que tenía era demasiado plana. Mi pareja utiliza los aseos antes de que nos fuéramos y dijo que no había papel higiénico, teniendo en cuenta que el lugar estaba vacío, no hay excusa para que yo pudiera entender, si habían sido ocupados. Durante todo no hay razón para devolver sólo una experiencia terrible.

Tenía muchas veces aquí, más recientemente para celebrar mi 22 cumpleaños nd con una fiesta sorpresa que no debió haber sido una sorpresa, pero realmente no estoy notando cosas en buena (como la pandilla de gente de fiesta sentado en la ventana en el camino). Sin embargo, maravilla. Elección vino aquí es excelente, en mi opinión, con un estelar Pinot Grigio. Sin embargo, todo tiene un precio un poco más de lo que yo creo que es necesario.

Very nice bar staff and a couple of choices for beers which were good quality. Not busy for a Saturday 2pm but took around 45 minutes to be served 2 sandwiches which is a bit silly. 'Shaved pork loin' sandwich was quite tasty but was more like a bacon sandwich. Don't expect much from the food or speed and you will have a nice experience

nice enough pub. we had 3 tapas for £10 and the food was fairly decent. friendly staff and good place to watch the world go by on one of the many window tables. would go back but won't become a favourite.

We called in for coffee before heading off for a pre-booked lunch. It was mid-morning and fairly quiet. I liked the relaxed decor and we had a choice of seating. The person who took our order was very pleasant and our lattes and hot chocolates arrived just a few minutes later. We didn't try the food but, on the way out, I noticed the dessert chiller with a very tempting cheesecake...

Love EBB! It has a great atmosphere and exactly what Southampton needs! Ive been in Southampton just over a year and EBB &flow is one of the best places I've come across to date. I love it! It gives both a young and family atmosphere and I also love that they have random board games which you can play over some food/drinks. This place just has a good vibe! Great food , great drinks , great staff and best of all at great value!

Have never visited before and always looked like a nice place from the outside. We went for a couple of drinks, the live music was a nice touch, it wasn't very busy which was also good, it was just a shame about the staff, the were slow and didn't seem to know what they were doing, I had issues with my drinks twice, and both times they were resolved but only because I mentioned it!

Lovely food and cocktails. Friendly and welcoming staff, love this place!! I am a regular visitor here and would recommend it anyone from a student to a family.

I came in with my husband last night to order some food before the football. We both ordered a drink (which in the end was non-alcoholic as the draft had run out) and a burger and chips - nothing too complicated. After waiting 40 minutes for our food to arrive I went and asked how long it would be, and was told it would be '5-10 minutes' as there was a problem in the kitchen. For no-one to even bother updating us is terrible service, especially when there was maybe only 4 tables in there full! I didn't get an apology so asked for a refund, which a guy did, but even then only offered a mediocre one as we were leaving, and still charged us for our drinks! We ended up not eating anything and also being late for the football and missing the first 15 minutes of the match! VERY poor customer service, and their Facebook page highlights that this isn't a one off!

We went for drinks and had some food but my burger was extremely under cooked, my mums 'ham and mustard sandwich on granary bread' was in white bread and contained no mustard...Staff were friendly but it took forever to order food or drink at the bar! However there is a good atmosphere and great decor!

Food was disgusting. Ordered a vegetarian burger because they had no fish left?! Was cold, uncooked and still frozen from a packet. Was awful. On top of that they were under staffed and incompetent. Wouldn't recommend unless you like over priced and undercooked food.

This place has seriously gone down hill a few months ago my husband rated the burgers as the best he had ever had - sadly not anymore visited today for lunch the food was cold the chips were hard and the burger was disgusting in fact we left our meal which was over priced for what we had i dont know how restaurants manage to get simple meals so badly wrong when there is such good quality ingredients available but you can see why places like turtle bay are still going strong and always full as they continue to maintain high quality and a good standard of food

Visited Ebb & Flow for the first time for breakfast wanting to try somewhere new. The venue is lovely with nice decor and plenty of space.Unfortunately the customer service was very poor. The staff didn't seem to want customers there and seemed uninterested (the waitress was drinking her takeaway coffee whilst taking our orders.) Despite getting there for opening there was no milk and therefore could not have coffee or tea with our breakfasts. There were also multiple other options on the breakfast menu which were unavailable. No real apologies were offered for this. Overall it was a very unwelcoming atmosphere that had been created by the staff. The food was very average. Small portions and overpriced for what is offered.Overall very disappointed. This place has the potential to be fantastic but is let down by the customer service and average food.

Came here for a ridiculously overpriced fry up, all food was cold and when I had 'mushrooms' it doesn't constitute half a mushroom. Beans and eggs were cold, were given poached eggs that turned out to be hard boiled when we asked for fried, and when we complained and asked for hot ones they only came out after we had finished the rest of our food. Crap, wouldn't come here again

Hailing from New Zealand, I am used to our exceptional Kiwi hospitality and customer service, so I am used to having to lower my standards when visiting the UK. I popped in to Ebb & Flow for lunch with some family members and there appeared to be only one lady serving the entire place, and her attitude was pretty awful. She seemed miserable, reluctant to help us, and when I asked for extra condiments, she grudgingly pointed off towards the bar area, rather than bringing them to the table. The food we received was quite tasty, although quite pricey for the amount we received. However, I am sure I would have enjoyed the whole experience a lot more had the service not infuriated me so much. A smile and a little customer service goes a long way! Sadly, Ebb & Flow hasn't realised this yet...

I have been here a few times before and like the feel and location of this place. However on my last visit the staff were lazy, ignorant and chatting behind the bar whilst servicing customers, discussing about Management not running the place properly and always running out of stock.Totally unprofessional especially when we had had 4 rounds of drinks and snacks and nobody came to clear our table or those around us. People are not forced to work somewhere and if you do not like it then leave so I can enjoy this place again. It must be said the olive sharing platter is awesome and well worth it.

2nd visit with colleagues this time.Enjoyed their craft lager in the sun outside the front. Reasonably priced and tasted good.Well done to the manageress who asked a beggar to leave when he attempted to harass us for money. She remained professional throughout even when he was abusive.Very good indeed!

Quick lunch time visit while shopping.. had not been in here for a while. Its clean tidy, friendly helpful staff, with a witherspoons type menu but almost twice the price. The food was ok but basic for the money. I could have gone to a witherspoons for exactly the same at half the price, so probably wont use it again

A month ago I would of rated this place a solid 5 stars but recently there are far too many occasions I have been told that food is unavailable because they simply do not have it? I'd understand if this was a once off but it has happened the last few times I've been. If you are having trouble getting certain stock for your menu then please change the menu to show this?? Other than this the decor, service and quality of food is fantastic.

I regularly visit Ebb and Flow at lunchtime, their menu is varied and the food is lovely, a decent price and comes out in good time. It is pretty much always empty, and sadly I think that is because of the decor. It has a hotchpotch of styles; beach hut, vintage, country, contemporary, Spanish rustic, and a bit Laura Ashley! Some of it is nicely done but other bits are rather odd - like the floral toy teasets inset into the bar. Most of the few clientele I've seen are female.A friend said he felt uncomfortable going in there just with his male friends because of the decor, which is a shame as it's a nice place. I think if they revisited their design and took out some of the 'stuff' it would be much more popular, and justly so!

I took my mum here for a Mother's Day breakfast and it was fantastic! The food was delicious and fresh and the decor is so quant and cosy! The fruit juices are so tasty and huge! Friendly and helpful staff! Well worth the money! Will be returning!

Arrived from Spain early Sunday morning first customers in the place, tired and hungry, chose bubble and squeak from the breakfast menu, my daughter chose pancakces with strawberries, lovely mug of coffee each, we chose well, great cafe with lots of atmosphere, excellent decor, helpful staff, would highly recommend for a change from English breakfast, although they serve those as well!

Popped in this place after an early morning hair appointment . Fancied a bite (brunch) but didn't want a heavy pub meal that would fill me up. There were 3 of us and my partner suggested the Ebb and Flow.Menu was good and I decided on the Bubble and Squeak. with a cola.Good choice. the meal was filling enough and inexpensive , and, tasted real good. I have read up about the service here but beg to differ. I am one of those people that wants to order my food, get my food with a smile , eat, pay and leave. I really dislike those places where they constantly ask if everything is good. Believe me, if it wasn't, they would know.The service was cheerful and with a warm smile. Love the fact that the sauces were on a dresser for us to choose and love the décor. for those that want a nice atmosphere, a place to eat and have a drink, chat and relax while eating, this is it.It is inexpensive and hits the spot.

I am so intrigued that this beautiful restaurant/pub is so poor customer service oriented. I first went there in December last year and there was a lady serving and another guy who looked like they simple didn't want us there. We asked for a liquor coffee and the lady had absolutely no idea what that was. That didn't bothered me, we eventually ordered a cappuccino and a mocha. They were served in the same type of cup even tho wherever you'd go no one would use a cappuccino cup for a mocha. It was still not something to put me off, not to mention that the spoons that came with the cups were inexplicable dirty. I went to the ladies and I found the till key in one of the toilets. I picked it up and went with it to the bar to hand it to someone. The guy behind the bar didn't even raised his eyes from his phone even tho it was about a till key. I waited for him to say thank you but nothing than an awkward silence happened so I left. Yesterday I went there again because I thought the decor deserves a second chance. We were welcomed by the same no-emotion no-expression faced guy and ordered the same again. My spoon was dirty again. I don't even want to think about how dirty the cups could have been. Please change the staff, the management team and menus otherwise this place has absolutely no chance in front of other pubs. Please do look after your customers and read these reviews because I'm not the first one to complain about the pair working there.

They have a deal everyday 2 4 1 cocktails until 10 pm. I have been twice, both times cocktails were well made and nice with the right amount of alcohol. Nice decor in the inside.

For the 3rd time in a row there's been ingredients they don't have so couldn't have what I asked for. I'd suggest trimming down the menu if you're so concerned with costs.Food is off a low quality, the sweet chilli flatbread is packet chicken, bottled sweet chilli, rocket and a stodgy flatbread. Bidvests finest.Other than that decor is cool, if a little pretentious.

We enjoyed a midweek lunch time visit. We we're pleasantly surprised by the decor and ambiance . Our food was tasty and reasonably priced. Definitely worth a visit.

Visited today with a friend of mine as I hadn't had breakfast or lunch and was just off to an interview. Only had time for a drink and as it was a humid day I fancied an iced coffee. I know there is a massive coffee chain opposite but I have visited Ebb and Flow before and really like it there. I asked the lady serving (mid thirties, brunette, navy top) if they sold an iced coffee and she said no. I then asked her if I could be cheeky and get a coffee and then for her to just chuck it in a glass with ice as I needed a pick me up but was too hot. She said that was absolutely fine. She appeared to be on her own serving but went out of her way to help. She cooled it in a cocktail mixer full of ice and strained it, after shaking, into a tall glass for me. Tasted lovely and really went beyond what I asked of her. Friendly service. And an iced coffee that reminded me of the ones you get in Greece on holiday. Thank you very much for being so kind!

We arrived on Sunday at 11 am for brunch. Easy to get table for 4 perons. Really pleased with the menu. I had muffin, egg, etc. I struggled to choose between big breakfast and omelette and smoked salmon. We ordered orang juice and a super sized orange juice arrived in a jar glass. Brilliant. I hate places to skimp on the quantity of drink. Had a lovely pot of tea. reasonable prices. cant wait to visit again.gorgeous décor. helpful staff.

We stopped here for lunch on a Saturday. It looked a pub from outside but was much nicer inside. The service was good and there was a good choice of food. I had the all day breakfast flatbread. The base tasted like a thin & crispy pizza and the topping was generous. My husband ordered a couple of the tapas dishes and they were much bigger than expected. We were too full to try desserts but people around us were eating them & they all looked nice. They also had a good selection of teas & coffees. Glad we decided to go in.

Following a visit to guildhall square in Southampton to see the 40th anniversary of the FA Cup winning side our group of 6 decided to look round for somewhere to get a bit of grub before heading to St Marys to watch the Man City game.Most pubs in the area were packed and we noticed Ebb and Flow and looked inside to find a table for 6. Only myself and one other decided to eat and the others decided to share a couple of portions of chips.i ordered the all day breakfast and a mate had the eggs benedict plus the 2 portions of chips to soak the beer up for the rest of the group.The food arrived quite quickly but as soon as the plates hit the tables alarm bells were ringing. The chips were served in metal tea cups and to say it was small portions would be an understatement. The portion of chips was not even to the top of the mug and was very poor value for money. On looking at my breakfast it was clear to see that the sausages were not Gloucester old spot as advertised on the menu but the cheapest anemic looking sausages and the supposed best back baco was 3 rashers of streaky bacon that had hardly been cooked. There was no black pudding on the Pete despite being part of the menu and the eggs had been overlooked so there was no chance to dip my burnt toast into the Rock hard eggs. I decided to taste the sausages and was met with a mouthful of tasteless sausage and grisel. I decided to take the meal back to the counter to be met by a startled waitress who called the manager who was a scruffy individual who on hearing my complaint and my mention of the poor sausages immediately aplogised for the mistake and stated that they had put vegetarian sausages in place of the old spot sausages. First time I have ever found grisel in a vegetarian sausage. I was refunded my money but my colleague who had the eggs Benedict said it was pretty poor with the uncooked streaky being part of his late breakfast. We all left despondently vowing never to return.We wandered to the stadium and had food from the caterers on route to st Marys to make up for the atrocious meal at Ebb and Flow.Avoid this place at all costs.At least the football was good.

Very pleased when we walked in, decor very "kitsch", right up my alley! Our bust was mid afternoon and purely for a shopping break. Bar service very polite and efficient.

Popped in off the cuff as we searched for a place for lunch and loved this place. Cool retro interior, great food and quality loose leaf tea. Just how things should be. Service was great. Shame people go to more well known places rather than cool venues like this. Will defo return.

Decided to try Ebb and Flo, due to an appointment running I ng later than planned. When we arrived we were the ok n Lynn p e pole their but the again it was just s t after midday, we were acknowledged on arrival,and given time to read through the menu before being approached. We both had the Sesame chicken which was freshly cooked,served charmingly and tasted delicious. I had the Apple and honey blossom desert, again different but oh well worth a return visit. As we were leaving people were arriving, overall a a lovely unexpected lunch. We will return.

We came here with some friends on a late Sunday morning. I ordered a veggie breakfast and an iced coffee. We all ordered together, but our orders came out at different times. My food came out before my iced coffee.The food was lukewarm, the eggs were overlooked, I was given white bread (I ordered brown) and the tiny pot of beans I was given had more juice in it than actual beans.Then when my iced coffee arrived, there was no ice in it. It was very poorly presented and consisted of a half filled glass with a pathetic little straw dangling out of it. We would recommend trying elsewhere for brunch.

I too had gone before with friends from work we had a great evening good food and cocktails, I raved to my husband so we went last Friday. We went in for late lunch and a couple of cocktails. There was only a one man serving behind the bar and one lady on the floor clearing or taking the odd food order as she could not do cocktails!! They were both the most miserable pair of people I have ever come across, it was Bank Holiday Friday and clearly they wanted to be somewhere else! I waited to be served patiently, as there was an issue with the card machine which eventually lost the will to live and he informed us it was cash only ( no sorry for keeping you waiting or the inconvenience !) She took my order and I asked for my Mojito to have spiced rum instead of white rum, she said she would get him to do it as she doesn't do cocktails. When they were made they had forgotten to make the change so my husband took his drink back to be told "oh yes I forgot". He didn't look like he was going to do anything he didn't even apologise so my husband said " so I want something done about it"The bartender said he could put some in it but it would cost more money so we did that but honestly we should have told him to remake it, his attitude sucked, I had the bramble and it was a poorly made cocktail, too much soda water, maybe he should taste his drinks as proper cocktail makers would then he would know how bad they are!!. When our food arrived my husband had a veggie burger that had been cremated and even the bun it was in was burnt, I too was missing the on the vine roasted tomatoes!! I know they were short staffed but there is no excuse for poor manners as were are the paying customer!! We did not stay for a second drink and they did not get a tip. It is such a shame as it is a great looking place with loads of potential, but they need to do so much more.....

I honestly don't understand how someone can make battered fish chewy but Ebb & Flow succeeded.. it may have been due to the fact that they were cooking it for 45mins, or at least that's how long it took to arrive from order to service. Not great.. wont be going back.

This place is nice to grab a bit to eat whilst out shopping. Its nice to have somewhere different to go for food apposed to all the big burger chains, Nandos...e.t.cIts evident the owner takes great pride in this establishment and the food is really tasty. I like the way things are served with a little creativity! Bonus of glasses being kept in the fridge! they do cute vintage cocktails too!

1st time in Southampton, found this bar & had a good laugh in there. Friendly staff. Lovely atmosphere

So after a relatively heavy shopping trip food was required! We didn't want to have pub food or restaurant as we were going out that night and wanted something to tide us over - Ebb & Flow looks unassuming from outside and captured our curiosity! Wow! We couldn't decide so we shared a pulled beef and hunters cheese flat bread and a pastrami and mustard sandwich! They were fantastic! Whilst enjoying these we watched with jealousy as the 3 tier afternoon teas were delivered to the booth next to us!!! Need to go back next time I'm in Southampton! Very friendly staff, great food, great atmosphere - well done!!!

After a heavy night in town for a hen do this was a lovely place to have breakfast and a cup of tea.The Italian waiter was lovely. Thank you

My wife and I went for lunch in Ebb and Flow Cafe, this was not planned but we were just passing and thought to give it a try, that turned out to be a mistake of near biblical proportion. My wife ordered the Buttermilk Chicken, the chicken was burnt on the outside and only just cooked on the inside, the chips were stone cold, the roasted tomatoes had gone AWOL and the salad could well have been prepared last weekend. I ordered the Brunch Flatbread, when presented it looked pretty good, certainly better than the chicken my wife had, unfortunately my luck ran out thereafter. The flatbread was flat due to the fact that it was uncooked, as were the mushrooms and the black pudding, not a good thing. The beans and sausage were cold, the only part that was warm was the scrambled egg. I left a good part of the meal and this is something that I rarely do, but then I have rarely eaten something quite so terrible. We have eaten in restaurants of all types across the world and I feel quite safe in saying that this is one of the worst meals I have ever had.

Had a really good first visit there with a friend (we both ordered burgers and they were delicious), went back a couple of weeks later after raving about it to my husband, only to leave feeling disappointed. Grilled sandwich wasn't grilled and was missing the cheese...I went and asked the girl behind the bar who promptly went and got a menu to prove to me that the pastrami and mustard grilled sandwich didn't have cheese on...until I pointed out that the general description of the grilled sandwich highlighted melted butlers cheddar! I ordered the the BBQ pork flatbread and wow, it was spicy...no hint of that in the menu...I'm just glad I didn't order it for the kids! One of our party ordered the eggs benedict...this was ok but served on a tiny plate which made cutting in to it a bit difficult as not much room. I can't say that we will be back if I'm honest

We walked in and did not even know if we have to sit down and wait for someone to give us a menu, order from the bar or wait to be seated, in the end we had a sit and went to the bar. Unfortunately there was only one waitress who had to do a few other cocktails so I had to wait, not a problem. The cappucino and the latte are made in the same cup and look just the same, as a bartender and Batista I must say that's wrong, the coffee were made wrong and the coffee itself is poor. The waiter that just came was bored and a bit rude, someone had to pick up her own drinks in a tray even tho he wasn't busy and he was going in the same direction. It's a shame, the place looks amazing, you need better staff, maybe more motivated, and a better drinks menu, both me and my girlfriend are bartenders and we see the huge potential, the place looks very nice but we won't come back. Bored and a bit rude staff (both of them) and poor drinks menu, those expensive rose moet can be replaced with some desperados/sol/corona or something similar and you should do liquor coffees. Also, make the latte in a latte glass please, and put the right amount of coffee in. Best regards.

Nice decor, friendly staff and good food with decent prices for the food and drinks. This bar is a little bit different from the norm.

Our visit for lunch was very enjoyable and we were served by lovely staff, namely a lady called Lois who is delightful, pleasant and very helpful with the menu and we enjoyed the food.

Came here New Year's Day and was shocking. Ordered 2 big breakfasts. The waitress didn't inform us that there was no black pudding and also no beans, we were not offered something else in its place or offered a cheaper price. The breakfasts came to the table and had the items missing. When questioned it the waitress was very rude and just said "we don't have any". This i feel is totally unacceptable. Whilst sat we could also see other customers complaining of similar situations. The food was cold and not to the standard I would expect. Don't go here, it looks great from the outside but the service was disgusting, food not great either!

So my daughter and I decided to have a celebratory lunch yesterday. What a mistake! We had a terrible experience this time last year, but decided to give them a second chance. At first we thought it was closed there was no evidence of staff. So anyway, we found a table, still no staff. My daughter had to look for someone to tell her where the high chairs were (for her daughter) he then gave us the menus. Everything looks tatty and grubby. So we made our selection and went up to the bar to order. Only to be told no burgers available. So chose fish, only to be told no fish....! So we made our third choice, chicken burger. Paid an extra 75 p for sweet potato chips (mistake no 2), the food took ages to arrive and when it did, there is literally a teaspoon full of coleslaw, 3 onion rings and a mug of chips, the sweet potato chips were shrivelled and dry. After the delivery of the meal, no one came near us, we ate and left. I'm sorry to say that we will never frequent this establishment again. It look grubby and like it's dying on its feet. What a shame as obviously a lot of money was spend on the refit. Wasted!

2 of us went for brunch on a recent Monday. The place was not particularly busy and so it was easy to get a table. We both ordered brunch and the meals came in 10-15 minutes, not a problem.The food was generally satisfactory and the portions were ample. However both dishes were let down by the eggs. My dish included a fried egg and it was over cooked and had a glaze on it. In my opinion it had sat under a heat lamp for an extended time. The other dish included scrambled eggs which were rubbery and appeared to have been cooked in a microwave - not good.If they can sort out the way in which they cook and keep eggs then they will get a better rating from me. I will give them the benefit of the doubt and give them another try in the new year.

On the very rare occasion my parents visited Southampton we decided to visit this 'restaurant' for lunch.The gentlemen behind the bar on arrival was dismal and rude. And we waited an hour and a quarter before we eventually gave up on our food order and left for another bar. I'd write more but I have no time for that place. I feel embarrassed I took my parents there. Shocking and amateurish. No picture as no food was served.

This cafe bar appears to have the word ebb in its name because after you have placed your food order, the rest of your life just ebbs away as you wait and wait and wait and wait. Then after a long while a member of staff informs you that half the menu items are unavailable, so you order something different and then wait and wait and wait and wait some more. Then after an hour or so, you enquire about whether your food will ever arrive, to which you're told, basically, no. Then staff give you a full refund and you leave having seen your precious Saturday ebb away. The only positive is that they make a decent cup of coffee, otherwise truly, truly dreadful. Believe me, it's ebb and go.

Went there to enjoy a birthday breakfast with freinds. No staff, was asked if we wanted a drink after 10 mins, tea arrived after 25 mins but no coffee because machine was still warming up ! Ordered breakfast but waited another half an hour for this, was warned the Omlette was large so I should be hungry if I want it, when it arrived it was small ! Nice decor but never again !

Took my girlfriend for lunch on a Sunday. No signs and no staff to tell you to go to the bar to order. Once at the bar am ignored by 2 staff members talking to each other. Eventually the grumpy manager advises me to take a seat then order when ready. We order our drinks and food I decide to go for a veggie burger and a beef burger in 1 bun, grumpy manager looks outraged and says 'I'll have to tell the chef it's not for a vegetarian then' ..... After I get over this ridiculous response I highlight that as a trained chef I'd hope that as they were putting a veggie burger and a beef burger together i'd hope they would realise this fact already.... Grumpy doesn't seem to grasp this fact. Not many customers in the place. I notice the sauce bottle is out of date. Take it to the grumpy manager that says 'it's fine it was done today they just didn't change the label' this was snarled at me, she had no customer service (we didn't risk the sauce). Whilst waiting a male staff member goes for a cigarette break... In the entrance door with smoke blowing through to the main eating area, he proceeded to drop the cigarette which blew in the entrance matching the copious other cigarette butts in and around the entrance. 45 minutes later the table next to us receive some of their food.... Along with my girlfriends order.... Which the waiter gives to her...... 10 minutes pass and I ask the waiter where my food is, he says he's waiting for it to come down, another5 minutes later I ask again (my girlfriend has nearly finished by this point) he says I don't know, he comes back with my food saying I went up and got it. He apologizes and leaves me to my cold lunch. Never again! I can see why they make you pay before eating.

EBB & Flow is a nice place to meet up with friends and family and its a great little place to start or finish a day of shopping in Southampton.It is not to busy and you can always get a table. (saints home games it gets busy) Never had the food but have been told the afternoon tea is not bad for the money.

Been here twice once for brunch and another for lunch. Really nice coffee and decor is original and cute. Chicken salad with mint and yoghurt dressing was yum- homemade purple coleslaw was good too.

Came in for Sunday lunch, not many people in. Went to the bar to order, only to wait about 5 minutes for the surly (that's being generous) barmaid to finally pop out of the kitchen.Overpriced, under seasoned food followed around 30 minutes later. Slightly messed up order. No apology from aforementioned bundle of joy.On the plus side, the tap water is adequate.Dont go.

Me and my wife came to ebb &flow while shopping I chose the glorious breakfast muffin and my wife the bubble and squeak and I must say my breakfast muffin was indeed glorious! With a lovely pouched egg and Gloucester pork sausage and bacon the size of the breakfast muffin was perfect for a light brunch and I thoroughly enjoyed and recommend it ! The bubble and squeak my wife had looked amazing and was thoroughly enjoyed by my wife . The atmosphere is also very relaxed wife wonderful staff and the service was excellent! We will definitely be returning soon

I really like the decor and the drink selection here, but the place is consistently let down by the service. At our most recent visit (admittedly on a quiet Sunday night) we had to go on a hunt for any member of staff in order to order a drink after waiting at the bar/till for 5/10 minutes. We eventually found all 3 members of staff outside having a gossip. It's such a shame as this could be a nice place, but it always seems a little disorganised - even when it's quiet.

Lovely decor and menu looked exciting. In reality the food was luke warm and not prepared with care. My partner ordered a lemon iced tea which was vile tasted like dish water. Was easily exchanged. Over priced for what you get.

Nobody to seat us, waited best part of five minutes stood at counter waiting to order, sausages with breakfast were pink. Rest of breakfast otherwise overpriced for quality. Would not recommend.

Came here on a week night evening for a date, we had burgers, they were full and fresh, ordered pints good quality and the service was best in the city. Definitely recommend, can't believe more people know about this place. Ignore the comments, give it a try!

Been here once before for a quick evening drink and it was quite nice (which is the only reason this place doesn't get 1 star) but wrongly thought this translated into a good food experience and was shockingly wrong.Came back some time later for lunch and it was a bad experience. The table we chose was dirty as were most so wiped clean and sat down, before going up to order; asked for a slight change (swapping ingredients not adding) to one of the sandwiches and was told 'we can't do that', but then decided they could but tried to charge for two sandwiches to put the ingredients into one (!). We ordered another sandwich and two hot drinks. Must've taken about 30 minutes to come and wasn't warm or well prepared, looked sloppy and didn't taste much better either - the bread was stale and food looked congealed like it had been left out a bit too long before being brought over. Thinking it was a one-off I wrote into management through their website (which helpfully didn't work for feedback) and got a response - no apology, just said to come back in and let them know so they could make sure this didn't happen again; of course, because *if* I ever came back I would announce that I had complained in advance of ordering food.This is a prime example of a venue that is trying to get by on past achievements, it may have been good once upon a time but it is not now. For food, avoid this place like the plague, it's overpriced, the service and quality shocking and you can do far better- the only reason to come here would be if you wanted a beverage (beer or wine) and enjoy the location, as that's something they can't really get wrong.

Random set up with food ordered from the bar. Very pub esq' Drinks were cold, fresh and lovely. Food was served quickly. And, as annoying as it was to order from the bar, was delicious. Had the ebb and flow burger and it was gobbled up before I could take a picture (my bad)In keeping with great restaurants and fooderies in the area the food n drink is quite averagely priced. Would probably come again for a light lunch or tapas with drinks.

We found this restaurant by chance late Monday evening. We ordered an 3 egg omelette which was cooked by the head chef up and was delightful. The waitress was very polite and professional and very helpful.The decor was quirky but worked really well . Nice restaurant to visit

My daughter booked a table for four for an afternoon tea for all, to celebrate my wife's birthday. Despite booking we had to wait for nearly three quarters of an hour for the food to be served. The one cup of tea each we were given at the start we drank with no offer of a top up while we waited. When it came the four plates of sweets and savouries were a great disappointment. The two half sandwiches comprised mainly of grated cheese, with mini chorizo sausage rolls and mini cheese filled peppers. The sweet was even worse, soggy mini profiteroles, and rock hard stale scones which we sent back, these were replaced by a couple of scones that had come out of the freezer and microwaved. A terrible meal, I don't think we will go here again.

We had the bonanza brunch flat bread £7.95 ( spoonful of beans, half a sausage, no bacon, no potato, non perfectly cooked egg and definitely not cherry tomatoes) "baked to perfection in our pizza oven" - nothing baked about dough!

Popped into Ebb & Flow after a date night for some cocktails. The atmosphere was brilliant, the staff were friendly and up for a laugh and the drinks were tasty. Would definitely recommend a night at Ebb for the 2 for 1 cocktails and the staff even make them fresh right in front of you! Overall brilliant place and wonderful service.

We went for a special occasion lunch which turned out to be a massive let down.we waited an hour for our meal,when I went to complain I had to get attention from two gossiping staff who weren't interested.When I said we needed to be elsewhere and were fed up with waiting the young man ran into the kitchen urgently. It was obvious to me that our order had not been put in or started. The food was delicious when it arrived and we were given a glass of wine as an apology but having to rush to eat in 10 minutes completely ruined our day. I will never go there again.

we always struggle for good food in southampton but was told this was a good place. we went in on Saturday at 1300. we ordered 2 burgers and 2 Latte,s. Firstly the Lattes were not hot enough, then they heated them up but were 1/2 foam and no liquid. They dod replace them. After 15 mine we were told they had no burgers left. Had they just found out at 1315 on a saturday. !!! Were still looking for a good place to eat in town. However salisbury and Winchester are far nicer to shop.

Visited and had the Glorious Breakfast Muffin. I don't like poached egg but the chef did scrambled eggs for me - it was so good! Lovely site, lovely staff :-)

Popped into Ebb and flow for a few drinks before an evening out and a show. Order a variety of drinks but was sadly disappointed. The staff were very impolite talking amongst themselves and laughing while you stood there. Cocktails took 15 minutes yet there was only three of us at the bar?!?! Drinks were okay, and there are some nice flavour combos but were sadly half ice and lacked any kind of garnish or finish.

Called in for late lunch with another staff member. Tables were dirty from lunch and the staffs attitude stunk.I left before my food arrived.Won't be going again.

Visited here with a friend, really clean and nice looking restaurant, the food we ordered was AMAZING! Literally could not fault, they may have been a 45 min wait but who cares as long as you get good quality food, this is exactly what we got,I ordered buttermilk chicken, outstanding quality, the food literally gave me goosebumps (for a good reason) my friend ordered a lemon chicken burger, the bite I had was something different, gave off a great refreshing taste while still being a burger.. We read reviews about this place while sitting there looking at the menu, but honestly.. Try before you believe them.. Everywhere can have a few minutes wait, I'd rather wait that have my meal straight in front of me questioning if it's actually thoroughly cooked or dry.. So so glad we came here and ate, will defiantly be returning with friends and colleagues, will spread the word too.. This place is by far the best! THUMBS UP CHEFS! YOUR DOING GREAT!

Came in today as a party of 4 for breakfast and to be frank the chef or whoever cooks the food needs a rocket up their backside! To wait 1 hour to be served is obscene ! we were told it would be a half hour wait and when it did turn up 3 plates came out but not the third. Don't get me wrong its good food but try to get your finger out! I know it was match day but it wasn't that busy in there! Just read other reviews and it appears there have been further problems with waiting times. Just waiting for the same generic reply from the manager!!

Ebb and Flow is a great location and has some nice deco and for the most part friendly staff. However after several visits it's clear they can not function as a bar that serves food. on all 3 visits the wait for food has been too long, over half hour when there are only a handful of covers in. The food itself is poor quality. On all three occasions my order has not been what was on the menu. afternoon tea with no scones or sandwiches and undercooked sausages (great manager did give us a 50%) refund. today I order a salad which consisted of a handful of old brown lettace and some cold goats cheese.(£7.00) I did challenge the waitress and ask if that was a salad... she replied with a 'yep' and left me to it. It's a shame because it's got potential and a enthusiastic manager . might want to reconsider the kitchen staff.

This is a very pleasant place to have something to eat and drink. An interesting, varied and fairly wide choice of food.Prices are reasonable, staff very nice, overall cleanliness is good, range of draught beers and a nice little area to sit outside.

Visited this morning for Breakfast. Opted for the Big Breakfast. Perfect portion size and well made.The sausages were incredible! Loved them.If I was to be picky, I'd recommend they changed the bacon ... Just my personal preference though.Didn't have to wait long, served with a smile within 20 minutes. All cooked fresh to order, so a perfectly acceptable time.Lovely decor and atmosphere, will be back again .... Really fancy working my way through the impressive looking cocktail menu.

I have been at Ebbs few time now and can easily say that is the best place to catch up with friends. i love the interior design and the atmosphere. Staff is always friendly too. Coffee is good as well as the freshly squeezed juices and fruits energy cocktails. My friend had a cake and she really liked it. I guess is just to try your food guys. Popped in on Sunday morning for a bite to eat before going shopping. Had the Big Breakfast, decent size and presented really well, Especially enjoyed the Cumberland sausage. Nice place, nice food, pleasant staff and reasonable prices. Venue it's self has obviously had a few quid spent on it and is an inviting environment. I'll be going again but for 2 for 1 cocktails next time!

Have visited a number of times and the building and atmosphere itself is beautiful and cannot be faulted. However, the waiting time for food was 40 mins eventhough the place wasn't busy, I received a sandwich that was meant to be pastrami, cheddar and pickles and instead received pastrami, lettuce and tomatoes with no explanation as to why my order was wrong. Also ordered a side of chips that consisted a minuscule portion that is really not acceptable for the £2.25 cost (see picture).

I visited for the second time Ebb&Flow this week. I love the atmosphere, every piece of decor is perfectly balanced. Unfortunately that's not enough to make a good restaurant too! The first time food came out after more than half an hour; it wasn't a busy lunch and we were not told about the delay.On my last visit I've personally asked how long the food would have taken since I had to get to work. They said 20 minutes, which was fine. The food came out after 45 minutes, and even though we complained about it, we've been only offered apologies. Working in the food industry I find all this very unprofessional. Food was nice, I really enjoyed my beef and pulled pork burger. Could improve on presentation (the bun was falling apart and could hold the burger!). Good menu, waiting for the new one coming ag the beginning of August..

I have been to Ebb and Flow numerous times for drinks, and absolutely love the decor and atmosphere. The selection of drinks is interesting and reasonably priced, and the Oyster ale is lovely. I have wanted to try the food for a while, so went for lunch today hoping it would live up to my expectations. Unfortunately I was really disappointed, and based on todays experience I have no intention of eating there again. All three of us found the food to be bland and barely warm, and the accompanying coleslaw was horrific-I can only describe it as tasting 'dirty'- I don't know if it was out of date or just really poorly made, but it tasted bad. Unfortunately no check back was made on out table, so we didn't get to voice our opinions to staff regarding the food, nor were our dirty plates cleared before we left. Such a shame, as this is a really lovely venue but the food is letting it down.

Dropped in here for a quick bite on Saturday evening with BF. Great place with a buzzing atmosphere, clientele were of mixed ages and the staff were all very friendly. I went for the risotto which was fine- a tad salty but otherwise no complaints. Drinks were served in quirky glass bottles! They had an extensive drinks menu and cocktails. Would love it if a place like this opened in my home city! Do check this place out!

Lovely place to go for a quick bite in Southampton in a pleasant environment. Ordered the classic burger which came with a cup of fries and three onion rings. The burger was very well cooked and tasty. The fries were also okay but slightly overdone but cant complain too much cause the ambience of the place was amazing.
