Lovely place to have dinner.. we were seated in the red room on the first floor and it was a nice place to converse and grab a bite with volumes not as high as the ground floor..we ordered all the favorites namely the black pudding scotch eggs, pork scratching, fish and chips and the bone marrow curry with mashed potatoes.. loved the taste nd the look of each of the dishes.. the service was good too. Definitely worth coming back for.

I saw this pub on 'Eating With Tod' & decided to give it a go. I went first on Sunday night but was told the kitchen closed at 8 pm. So, I went back Monday for lunch! I tried their signature Old Fashioned (comes with a beautifully branded ice block), Scotch Egg & Fish'n'Chips. I loved how the egg was runny & the outer meat didn't separate from the egg that easily. The Fish stands apart here because of the batter & the extra crispy bits they put on top sprinkled with Maldon. The place had nice vibes & polite service.

Definitely having a moment on Instagram with food reviewers and I'd say worthy of that. Food is upscale pub/British stuff. Very nice scotch egg, good prawn cocktail (although maybe some brown bread and butter would be good with it), quirky pork scratchings. We went on a Sunday and no one wanted a roast so only a few main courses on: burger, ish and chips and a paneer curry. We had burgers and small fish and chips. Burger served medium and super tasty. Fish and chips has extra battered scraps on top. Too full for pudding. Lovely service. Very good Guinness. It is pricey though.

Service is great, attentive and friendly. You could always find someone when you needed them. Came for St. Patricks Day and received Irish coffees on the house, which was a lovely gesture. The food is really good, albeit a tad expensive (curry sauce for £3.75 is steep in my view) Guinness was good. We did the Paddys Day quiz, which was good fun although at times we struggled to hear the quizmaster as the pub was quite noisy at times. Overall it's an excellent place to come for some food and a few drinks and I'll definitely return and sample their a la carte menu next time.

Really disappointing experience. Having visited a few times before, my friend booked, on my recommendation, to have lunch with a friend and to watch the rugby. We arrived a few minutes early and our table wasn’t ready, which is ok, and we were shown to a smaller bar upstairs to wait there, which seemed great rather than just standing in the way. Upon entering this small room/bar, there was a member of The George team, in the staff T-shirt behind the bar, to whom I said “Hi there, how’s it going?” And they proceeded to stare at me for a second, before ignoring me and going back to whatever they were doing and walking out. Another guest who was in there even looked at me raised an eyebrow and he passed me the drinks menu, not the member of staff. My friend and I waited in there and after it had got to 10-15 minutes after our booking time, I went to ask if they knew when we would be seated to be told “yeah, yeah, it’ll be a few more minutes we’re just setting the table” and the person walked off. I went back to the bar to find my friend. We were then told our table was ready, but the member of staff disappeared for a moment without us knowing which table was ours. When they returned, and showed us to the table, I said “just as a bit of feedback” and mentioned being ignored earlier and rather than a “I’m sorry” or some form of acceptance that ignoring a client is rude, the host said “oh that’s not his job, he isn’t a host”, kept repeating that line, and couldn’t seem to wrap her head around ignoring someone who has come into your business, because you’re not a host, still isn’t acceptable. We were seated at the same time as another table, who then walked out and were replaced by other guests a few minutes later, who then got served and had their drinks order taken before us. At this point we were told our first drinks would be free due to the wait for our table, and we said no, we were happy to pay our way, and had to reiterate that as they kept insisting the two pints would be free which was just awkward. We appreciated the gesture, but hadn’t asked for it and when we said, no, we’d pay, it really should have ended there. Once food and such arrived, the staff then checked in too much, my friend and I believe as they realised we were a little annoyed, to the point that when I had a third of a pint left, one chap asked me if I had finished it and tried to clear it. The food itself is usually quite good at The George and I enjoyed my starters and mains, and my friend and I both enjoyed the dessert, however he ordered a large portion of fish and chips and appeared to get a medium, with we believe his going to another table. The fish and chips he did get seemed too oily/greasy, and has since been left feeling unwell. Overall, staff really dragged things down, I’m still confused about being ignored and then having someone repeatedly try to justify that as being acceptable because the person wasn’t a host. The over attention after, and then at the end, after being sat near 20 minutes late for our booking, being given our bill, without it asked for, before our slot was up, to ensure we were out, left us feeling not particularly welcome. The George is a place I have enjoyed visiting on a number of occasions, but I won’t be back, I don’t like being ignored and then having someone repeatedly tell me the person ignoring me isn’t there to say hello and it’s ok, because he isn’t a host.

Lunch in London on Saturday afternoon, nice place inside but in my opinion excessively expensive. There are 6 of us and we take various things: fish and chips, scotched egg (very good), cheeseburger, bacon and chicken breast salad, Indian dish with pork. For 1 main course and 1 beer each, the price is around 45 euros per person, not justified in my opinion. Considering that London is very very expensive, in the end you can also stay there to taste some typical dishes (such as eggs, venison pie and other things), but don't expect it to be cheap.

The marg was pretty nice actually, esp for a pub. 📋 Interesting and good range of menu, the pub classics and a few unique dishes. Expensive! If say £50 pp with a starter £10, main £25 plus a drink £15. 💡The place is small and gets crowded quickly. But turnover is fast too. 3 of us walked in at 7:30pm on a Tues, got nice seats.

I was so excited to try The George, I'd booked for 8 of us to have dinner there in the dining room about 5 weeks in advance (with it being the festive period). I had a call 2days before my reservation to check we were still able to come. The lady on the phone asked 'are you happy to sit downstairs?' to which I said yes as I assumed it would be a downstairs area of the restaurant. Instead it was a table in the pub section and it was extremely rowdy/busy and we couldn't hear one another well over the noise. In the end we ended up having to leave and find somewhere else to eat which was SO a shame as the menu looked so delicious. If you're going then make sure they don't seat you in the pub for dinner! To respond to the below, we were absolutely not offered a table upstairs within 30 mins, we were simply told that upstairs was fully booked and they could not accommodate us so we had to leave to find another restaurant. I booked a table for 8 people, 5/ 6 weeks in advance! So we were a large group! When I was phoned about the booking I was simply asked if "downstairs was alright?" To which I answered yes as I assumed it would still be the dining room and not the pub floor! There was no mention of the dining room being 'fully booked' and that we would have to be seated in the pub area. As I said above I booked a long way in advance as we were a party of 8. I'm really disappointed by the inaccuracies in your reply here but thank you for providing an email address.

I really wanted to like the George but unfortunately the food was let down by long wait times, fatty cuts and missing items. For over £70 a head it feels wrong to be waiting nearly an hour for a Sunday roast, especially as after waiting we were told there is no pork. No real apology or ask if they could substitute/if we wanted to change our order, more told 'were going to give you extra of the beef and lamb’. It seemed to just be replaced with more lamb (only 6 slices of beef between four people). The lamb was overly fatty and some pieces inedible. Portion size for the price was small considering it was supposed to be between four. (One bowl of vegetables, two half potatoes per person). The starters and cocktails were good, and the atmosphere was nice, but sadly the meal felt like a let down. I’d go for drinks and bar snacks, or wait until the Christmas season is over.

Thank you to The George, London, where the Sunday roast was truly an absolute hit. Offered here are chicken, beef, lamb and vegetarian (in the form of a mushroom and celeriac pithivier). Roast potatoes are simply delectable - fluffy innards and crisp seasoned outers. I find a roast potato often sets the standard for the rest of the plate. Wine selection and service were very good: we weren’t hurried off our table but were gently nudged shortly before the next booking. Points for improvement? The cauliflower cheese, which was lacking in cheese, and the mushroom sauce for the veggie roast could be more plentiful and spreadable.

Well I think we have hit the Sunday roast Jackpot. Ordered the roast sharing plate and certainly were not disappointed. It was also a nice touch having a selection of different gravies. The beef gravy was one of the best that I have had.

Like David Beckham claiming you have a strong right foot, as a fat American, I can honestly say this is the best fried Chicken I’ve ever had. (The much less fat GF says it’s phenomenal with the “English Fizz” (aka champagne) to boot)

One of the best Sunday Roasts I’ve had. For a starter, we split the Scotch Egg and Prawn Salad. The Scotch Egg was perfect. The Prawn Salad was okay, but doesn’t take away from the 5 Stars. We split the sampler roast (beef/chicken/lamb), it was outstanding! Enough for 3 or 4 people. We didn’t go away hungry. Service and food was excellent, Keep up the great job!

Really disappointing Sunday roast, after reading all the reviews I decided to take my family for a birthday meal. Nothing was seasoned and I had to salt almost every single component of the meal. Service was a bit slow and thought everything was overpriced sadly.

The Guinness and food is great, I have eaten at The George three times and it’s been faultless each time. Mark has always been so welcoming and accommodating when I’ve been in with my young children. I believe it’s the best service I’ve received in a pub in London. Thank you Mark.

A lovely dining experience and atmosphere! Emma my waitress was a joy to meet and the Fish and Chips, The Best I Ever Had! I also enjoyed the welsh rarebit croquettes, mushy/mash peas, and The George Fruit Trifle (great recommendation Emma!).

The man taking my order said the drink didn’t exist even though I had it the day before from the same place, then he added a different drink saying it was the same thing and saying they both included the same ingredients however they did not and then he said they are both pink so it shouldn’t matter. The drink I was given was not what I ordered and people deserve better service.
