Limited food options, under seasoned prawns, worst was the cocky manager who wasn’t helpful at all with the bill. Snobbish and bad service from that middle aged woman. Oh and not to mention this place has a 13.5% “discretionary” charge which is higher than the usual 12.5%.

Went for the Sunday roast and would go again. The beef roast and all the trimmings were fantastic, particularly the potatoes. The roast was very filling and unfortunately we didn’t have any room dessert but we can’t complain. They’re obviously quite busy on Sundays as it did take quite some time for our meals to come out. We were sat upstairs in a room which lacked the atmosphere that other parts of the pub had. If booking request downstairs or the main dining area upstairs.

A fantastic spot to soak up the classic pub vibe with excellent food and warm, friendly service. Perfect for lunch — we enjoyed the best fish and chips, and everything from the beer to the mocktails, starters to dessert, was spot on. Located right in the heart of Marylebone. We arrived in the late afternoon and there was plenty of room in the restaurant. The waiters were very nice and helpful even when there was a mistake and brought us a dish we didn't order - they immediately apologized and brought the correct dish instead. We ordered for a first course - Black Pudding Scotch Egg, there is no doubt that it was well made but it is not the flavors we are used to :) For the main we shared FISH&CHIPS which was amazingly fried. In addition, we took mashed potatoes - insanely buttery! It should be noted that the prices are not cheap as befits London.

Fairly good food, middling service, overpriced (even for London). Sunday roast beef was tough with lots of silverskin/connective tissues—about a third of the serving was inedible. The ‘large’ fish & chips would be considered small–average in most pubs. £7+ pints, although admittedly these tasted fresh.

This is officially my favorite fish n chips now in London!! 🇬🇧 @thegeorgepublichouse I saw it at @eatingwithtod and @jamesdimitri I love the crispy crunchy batter they put on top! I ordered only half an order thinking I couldn’t finish it but I realized I could! It wasn’t oily at all and I didn’t get that greasy full feeling after!! Don’t forget the malt vinegar and tartare sauce!! A MUST TRY in London if you like fish n chips!!

I visited The George upstairs restaurant with my husband and it was, frankly, a gruesome experience. The first impression was a dirty, grimey carpet and a heavy, stale air that made the whole place feel unpleasant from the start. The ventilation is poor, and the loud bass thudding from the pub downstairs completely ruined any chance of a relaxed meal. The noise from drunken customers didn’t help either — it felt more like sitting in a tired old pub than a restaurant. The food was deeply disappointing. We both had the prawn cocktail to start — a tiny, sad portion with prawns literally cut in half to bulk it out. My husband ordered the chicken curry, which barely contained any chicken, and the sauce was loaded with sugar. The accompanying mini poppadums were so salty they were completely inedible. I had the beef cheek for my main course, which was passable, but hardly enough to redeem the experience. Overall, The George felt grubby, noisy, and depressing. Substandard food at premium prices. And baffling how anyone rates this place. We couldn’t wait to get out of there.

I saw this pub on 'Eating With Tod' & decided to give it a go. I went first on Sunday night but was told the kitchen closed at 8 pm. So, I went back Monday for lunch! I tried their signature Old Fashioned (comes with a beautifully branded ice block), Scotch Egg & Fish'n'Chips. I loved how the egg was runny & the outer meat didn't separate from the egg that easily. The Fish stands apart here because of the batter & the extra crispy bits they put on top sprinkled with Maldon. The place had nice vibes & polite service.

Definitely having a moment on Instagram with food reviewers and I'd say worthy of that. Food is upscale pub/British stuff. Very nice scotch egg, good prawn cocktail (although maybe some brown bread and butter would be good with it), quirky pork scratchings. We went on a Sunday and no one wanted a roast so only a few main courses on: burger, ish and chips and a paneer curry. We had burgers and small fish and chips. Burger served medium and super tasty. Fish and chips has extra battered scraps on top. Too full for pudding. Lovely service. Very good Guinness. It is pricey though.

We did the Paddys Day quiz, which was good fun although at times we struggled to hear the quizmaster as the pub was quite noisy at times. Really disappointing experience. Having visited a few times before, my friend booked, on my recommendation, to have lunch with a friend and to watch the rugby. We arrived a few minutes early and our table wasn’t ready, which is ok, and we were shown to a smaller bar upstairs to wait there, which seemed great rather than just standing in the way. Upon entering this small room/bar, there was a member of The George team, in the staff T-shirt behind the bar, to whom I said “Hi there, how’s it going?” And they proceeded to stare at me for a second, before ignoring me and going back to whatever they were doing and walking out. Another guest who was in there even looked at me raised an eyebrow and he passed me the drinks menu, not the member of staff. My friend and I waited in there and after it had got to 10-15 minutes after our booking time, I went to ask if they knew when we would be seated to be told “yeah, yeah, it’ll be a few more minutes we’re just setting the table” and the person walked off. I went back to the bar to find my friend. We were then told our table was ready, but the member of staff disappeared for a moment without us knowing which table was ours. When they returned, and showed us to the table, I said “just as a bit of feedback” and mentioned being ignored earlier and rather than a “I’m sorry” or some form of acceptance that ignoring a client is rude, the host said “oh that’s not his job, he isn’t a host”, kept repeating that line, and couldn’t seem to wrap her head around ignoring someone who has come into your business, because you’re not a host, still isn’t acceptable. We were seated at the same time as another table, who then walked out and were replaced by other guests a few minutes later, who then got served and had their drinks order taken before us. At this point we were told our first drinks would be free due to the wait for our table, and we said no, we were happy to pay our way, and had to reiterate that as they kept insisting the two pints would be free which was just awkward. We appreciated the gesture, but hadn’t asked for it and when we said, no, we’d pay, it really should have ended there. Once food and such arrived, the staff then checked in too much, my friend and I believe as they realised we were a little annoyed, to the point that when I had a third of a pint left, one chap asked me if I had finished it and tried to clear it. The food itself is usually quite good at The George and I enjoyed my starters and mains, and my friend and I both enjoyed the dessert, however he ordered a large portion of fish and chips and appeared to get a medium, with we believe his going to another table. The fish and chips he did get seemed too oily/greasy, and has since been left feeling unwell. Overall, staff really dragged things down, I’m still confused about being ignored and then having someone repeatedly try to justify that as being acceptable because the person wasn’t a host. The over attention after, and then at the end, after being sat near 20 minutes late for our booking, being given our bill, without it asked for, before our slot was up, to ensure we were out, left us feeling not particularly welcome. The George is a place I have enjoyed visiting on a number of occasions, but I won’t be back, I don’t like being ignored and then having someone repeatedly tell me the person ignoring me isn’t there to say hello and it’s ok, because he isn’t a host.

Lunch in London on Saturday afternoon, nice place inside but in my opinion excessively expensive. There are 6 of us and we take various things: fish and chips, scotched egg (very good), cheeseburger, bacon and chicken breast salad, Indian dish with pork. For 1 main course and 1 beer each, the price is around 45 euros per person, not justified in my opinion. Considering that London is very very expensive, in the end you can also stay there to taste some typical dishes (such as eggs, venison pie and other things), but don't expect it to be cheap.

I was so excited to try The George, I'd booked for 8 of us to have dinner there in the dining room about 5 weeks in advance (with it being the festive period). I had a call 2days before my reservation to check we were still able to come. The lady on the phone asked 'are you happy to sit downstairs?' to which I said yes as I assumed it would be a downstairs area of the restaurant. Instead it was a table in the pub section and it was extremely rowdy/busy and we couldn't hear one another well over the noise. In the end we ended up having to leave and find somewhere else to eat which was SO a shame as the menu looked so delicious. If you're going then make sure they don't seat you in the pub for dinner! To respond to the below, we were absolutely not offered a table upstairs within 30 mins, we were simply told that upstairs was fully booked and they could not accommodate us so we had to leave to find another restaurant. I booked a table for 8 people, 5/ 6 weeks in advance! So we were a large group! When I was phoned about the booking I was simply asked if "downstairs was alright?" To which I answered yes as I assumed it would still be the dining room and not the pub floor! There was no mention of the dining room being 'fully booked' and that we would have to be seated in the pub area. As I said above I booked a long way in advance as we were a party of 8. I'm really disappointed by the inaccuracies in your reply here but thank you for providing an email address.

I really wanted to like the George but unfortunately the food was let down by long wait times, fatty cuts and missing items. For over £70 a head it feels wrong to be waiting nearly an hour for a Sunday roast, especially as after waiting we were told there is no pork. No real apology or ask if they could substitute/if we wanted to change our order, more told 'were going to give you extra of the beef and lamb’. It seemed to just be replaced with more lamb (only 6 slices of beef between four people). The lamb was overly fatty and some pieces inedible. Portion size for the price was small considering it was supposed to be between four. (One bowl of vegetables, two half potatoes per person). The starters and cocktails were good, and the atmosphere was nice, but sadly the meal felt like a let down. I’d go for drinks and bar snacks, or wait until the Christmas season is over.

Awful food service. We were there for Christmas menu at £75 per head and the dinner came at 10 minute intervals and finally we did not get any veg... We had booked a private room (the green room)and it was a disaster. Never go ther it os a rip off and the food is awful

Food was cold and unseasoned. We were sat at the door which opened often and allowed cold in.

I would recommend booking upstairs for dinner. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and kind. We went on my husband's birthday. They even had a card for him when we arrived! The food was nice and the decor was lovely

Outstanding food, perfect service and a stunning decor - can’t recommend the Indian dishes such as the onion bhaji and the chilli and coriander toastie enough!! Our server was great and the upstairs seating area is so beautiful. Will definitely be back! Came back for dinner and it was incredible - highly recommend the Sunday roast, the paneer curry and their English sparkling wines.

Un lugar fantástico para reunirse con amigos para bebidas casuales y buena comida. Es un pub clásico de Londres, pero con una gran vibra y comida que es digna del bombo.

Really really good Sunday roast! I love the interior, and the little green room upstairs is a perfect place for a long Sunday lunch. Super friendly service also. The beef could have been more tender and the potatoes have more salt, but the meat was perfectly cooked and all the trimmings were super flavourful, especially the red cabbage. Next level Bloody Mary, and the Welsh rarebit croquettes were amazing. Prices are quite steep, but for the quality and the location, it’s reasonable

A pub in which you simply feel good Definitely my favorite pub that I visited during a trip to London. Beautiful interior is really cosy and relaxing, music is not too loud, so you can easily talk. Wide selection of very good beer, I really enjoyed hazy (don't remember the exact name). Scotch egg, which I had for the first time, was well prepared.

Amazing Scott egg! Lovely atmosphere for a Friday night. We were sat upstairs but the pub was lively. I also had the new hot dog which was nice. They're not very veggie friendly tho. There were options but not many but for the rest of menu it was great

Vaya. No he vuelto a este pub desde 2002. Nada ha cambiado. Sigue siendo la misma decoración, sentado y tablas de piso. Merece la pena visitarlo. Disfruta
