The George Inn & Stables in Wellingborough

Beautiful large garden overlooking the fields. However the pub had dirty tables, dirty toilets. Everyone who entered the pub all seemed to have access to go behind the bar. The music was so loud you couldn’t hear yourself speak and bar-staff were not very sociable when ordering a drink!

Really tasty Sunday lunch made with love! Great service and lovely roast potatoes and fabulous gravy which obviously had some time taken over it all. Best to book.

We were welcomed into the warm cosy pub and greeted like friends. Our room , although small , was warm and well appointed. Our dog was made welcome and even though there was a large family gathering for the evening we were made to feel part of it.

I've popped in a handful of times whilst passing through Wilby and am always warmly welcomed. Those behind the bar are equally as warm and genuine. I inquired about food this evening and although I was told food was usually only available to staying guests (overnight in their accommodation) I was offered a plate of pasta bake- free of charge aswell! It is reasonably priced, has a juke box, fruit machine, pool table and TVs to show the football.. my kinda pub!

Stayed one night, the reviews here do not describe the establishment now. There was only a choice of pie and chips or chicken in pasta in tomato sauce. Both were good. The staff are very friendly and helpful , the pub is warm and welcoming but the accommodation we stayed in ( no 1) didn’t match the pub. The heating was inadequate and it couldn’t be turned up, I slept in my dressing gown and I was still cold. In the summer it would be better. There is so much potential here, the bedroom would be so much better if the large furniture was taken out which would allow the bed to be moved to provide space for a second bedside table and easier access to the bed on both sides.

Paul and I stayed two nights here. The hospitality was amazing, Patrick went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. Both nights he made sure we got a table and the food was so good. Staff were friendly and the pub has such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We will definitely be back.

My family and I visited a few weeks ago for breakfast based mainly on posts we had seen on social media. It wasn’t very busy which is never a good sign but we were told it had been the previous day ( a Saturday) The drinks came on a tray which was filthy and there were tea stains all down the milk jug. The knifes and forks (4 sets) were all different and not the cleanest. There was no fresh orange or alternative fruit juice just water or cans of fizzy pop were offered as cold alternatives. There was also no black pudding. It is such a shame but there just is no attention to the little things and things which don’t cost a lot. We won’t be going back.

As a party of 10 we visited for my step sons birthday. The staff were welcoming and polite. Food choice was good and food was well cooked good quality and very very nice. We had a great time and will highly recommend to others, we will be back very soon.

Heard that the George was under new management. Popped in for Sunday lunch. Choice of Beef or Turkey with fresh vegetables very enjoyable. Lovely beer garden at the rear of the property overlooking open fields. Would recommend

Lovely quaint little pub now under new management, still finding their feet but couldn't do enough for us as a family. Rooms were were clean and spacious and had all we needed for a nights stay. Will be back again in future definitely worth the money we paid.

We approached Terry at late notice to provide a venue for a family members wake. From the outset his approach was warm, friendly and thoughtful. Terry and his team provided everything we required and too an excellent standard. All staff were extremely helpful, polite and friendly. The food provided was fantastic in both quality, presentation and variety and there really was something for everybody. We plan to return very soon (in happier circumstances) to make use of the excellent facilities and to once again sample hospitality at its very best. Thanks to you all.

Arrived at 8pm on a sunday evening ...nowhere to check in .apparently a code is supposed to be sent so you can collect your own key from your room ....when they send a text with room number .....which we never received. After an hour waiting outside we saw another couple there who had the same problem earlier. They gave us a mobile number to ring ......on the 13th ring and another hour they answered the phone gave me room number and code. I said this was unacceptable to which i was hung up on ....absolutely disgusting way to treat customers. Pub was closed at nights....brilliant local across the road with friendly staff. We did bumo into the cleaner who waa pleasant and the room was clean. Will not be returning.

So a party was booked and all confirmed.. a week before the party we thought it would be a good idea to sort out times when we could get there etc.. to find out they had booked some one else on the same day, after our booking.. so we now have no venue. I thought I’d help out locals and bring in some custom in a nice deserved pub venue.. but I’d never set foot in this place again. What a joke

Had a family celebration at The George and we all had fabulous time. The food was fab as was the service. We stayed over and the rooms were clean bright and comfortable.

went back to my local on the knowledge and experience of a fab sunday roast and now its a carvery? there was an air of optimism with new staff but now on returning there is a new manager and obviously change in what was once a fresh menu. wont be back its gone back down hill and average staff typical of a lost business. avoid where possible.

I stayed one night at the stables and enjoyed it thoroughly.It was very clean with comfortable double bed and well heated.It was awesome staying in what use to be a stable.It still holds some of it's original features too.It was a good price and will surely go back.Kevina the landlady was also very nice and welcoming..

Visited Saturday evening and went all out for 3 courses and and the only issue was I could not eat anymore! Excellent food at a reasonable price and would recommend a visit if your into well cooked quantity food. Give it a try.
