Bar staff brilliant apart from one. Young woman who apparently thinks she is a manager is extremely rude and talks to customers like they are dirt.

Travelling from Oxford to Lincolnshire we were both getting hungry but didn't want the services fast food. I asked my car to find a restaurant and this pub came up first so we went off the dual carriageway and followed directions. Despite not having a booking we were still greeted with a warm, friendly welcome. They checked to see if there was enough Sunday roast available to accommodate 2 more which there was. Two roasts, 2 drinks, 2 desserts £33. Excellent food and service. Thank you

We went along for Thursday steak and chips for £10:00 to include a drink. To be honest, we were not expecting much at that price. Well how wrong can you be? Great service. The food was very tasty, cooked to our liking, presented well and was fantastic value. I do love my custard so when I asked for ‘oodles’ of custard, that is exactly what I got. The manager, chef and bar staff were very attentive and all had lovely persona’s. We will most certainly be going back there.

Sorry, I have to be honest. I was very disappointed with the sunday roast. The beef was nice but the roast potatoes (all 4 of them) were obviously of the frozen variety. The Yorkshire pudding resembled a flat saucer and was tasteless. The cauliflower cheese which you pay extra for was dry and stuck to the dish it was served in. Overall a very disappointing way to spend over a tenner for a meal. Wouldn't return.

Only 4 stars but could be 5: The place smells of whatever cleaning fluid they use. It is horrible and not conducive to eating or drinking. The smell of bleach is quite off-putting. Luckily it was a nice day so we ate outside but sadly all of the benches had filthy ash-trays on them and also fag ends were evident all over the place including between the slats of the benches. They don't seem to bother cleaning the outside area. And the ladies toilet was dirty. The food was good though, and reasonably priced. If they sort out the cleaning issues then we will become regulars.

It started well but went downhill rapidly. The ale was a tad on the warm side and was stale. When the food arrived it was good, although my partner's meal arrived without the trimmings as stated on the menu. The desserts were the best part of an average meal. What spoilt the experience was the slow service and couldn't care less attitude of the server.

Visited with friends and family after finding it has been taken over. Good COVID measures in place with separate entrance and exit and tables well spaced out. Good choice on menu for Sunday lunch with two size options. It was a lovely surprise to have all items home cooked, unusual these days, although herbs on roast potatoes a little overpowering. One of us had the home made vegan tart which she said was lovely. The meat was a little tough but otherwise it was very nice. Owner extremely friendly and chatty. It did seem early days for the new owners so hopefully things can only improve. We will definitely be back.

A choice of meats served with a selection of vegetables (no choice here). Food was well presented but broccoli was hard and under cooked. Portions were adequate for the price. There was a good range of puddings but there was no custard available, although it was offered with the vast majority of puddings. The restaurant seating area was quite chilly I believe the pub is under new management so, hopefully, things will improve. Have had our share of roast dinners in restaurants at home or away. Quite frankly, it's the best roast dinner we've had thus far. Apart from the stuffing (it never was my cup of tea), it was pretty much the only thing I left on the plate. The meal consisted of nice, large home-made yorkshire pudding, lovely-tasting gravy, a good set of portions of meat, crispy roasted potatoes (not much of a potato-lover, but I ate them all!)Along with the aforementioned foods, there was a generous set of vegetables, consisting of broccoli, carrots, cabbage, peas & sweetcorn, along with cauliflower cheese & (I believe) Dauphinoise potatoes. I absolutely LOVE vegetables, so I made full use of what I could pile on my plate, still picking from the serving dishes when we pleased, until we were so full, we didn't even ask for the dessert menu (& that is normally a firm fixture of a meal - particularly a roast dinner - out! The food was served & empty plates taken away by a young friendly & polite member of staff. We have stated that this pub is a new favourite, of which we think we could hopefully come back to again (we live about 30-40 mins drive away), but would most certainly think it worth our while to take a trip out & come back. We wouldMany thanks to all involved in this business. It was & is a great find!

Homemade Yorkshire’s (on the second visit),good portions and very tasty. Service was great both times. The only thing is all they do on a Sunday is a roast which may not appeal to everyone. A group of 10 from a local organisation ate here for a pre-Christmas Friday -night dinner recently with mains ordered in advance. Noticed a decent selection of beers at the bar. Whilst our meal was acceptable with no major complaints , I felt a degree of lack of professionalism was present. If you are going to employ young - persons as waiters , Saturday- kids almost , it would be good if you could educate them in some sort of finesse in their presentation. Perhaps I could suggest a Carpenters - logo-ed T-shirt with matching trousers / slacks & not too expensive to kit-out Really couldn't understand either why this party of 10 were squashed into such a tight area when there were no other diners present in the restaurant, as there was little room on the table for plates of vegetables ,sauces etc.

We were a group of about 16 and sat at small tables of 4-6 people in the small pleasant restaurant. The menu was not extensive, which I think is a good sign - the less is offered, perhaps the better each dish? The waiters were young and probably not very experienced (unable to answer questions without consulting boss), but pleasant and helpful. The carvery food was better than average - good enough to want to return - and good value. It was a nice room and we were not subjected to intrusive music so could chat comfortably.

Not our first choice but it was available late Sunday afternoon (pre theatre)The setting was charming, we were given a large table under the front window, jus the right size for the four of us.We decided on the seafood and meat sharing platters £36 for starters. The whitebait, served in a steel basket were soggy.. The sausages were tough skinned and over cooked. The piccalilli was white not yellow? it had a good vinegar bite to it. Cold smoked mussels were to nobody's taste. On to the mains, Gammon steak, over cooked on an extremely hot plate, How long had it been on the pass? My three sausages, like the ones that came on the meat platter were tough and over cooked. My other two friends who did not share their mains to the table had Cullen Skink, more than half remained at the end of the meal and the other had gnocci again most was let at the end but they both said they enjoyed it. When I went to the bar to pay the bill £122.55, I was asked how much more I would like to add to the bill. HorrifiedOur meal included a bottle of red and a £8.50 250ml of white wineIf you fancy fillet steak, it will cost £125 per Kilogram, thats without veg or sauce

Garlic mushrooms were nice but presentation was messy. The mushrooms were overcooked and the 'swirls' of balsamic dressing were unnecessary and too sweet to compliment the dish. Mixed grill - gammon extremely salty and staff didn't ask how sea was to be cooked. Sausage and mash - sausages overdone. Garlic bread far too salty as we're the very thin fries. BBQ wings starter was messy and the sauce was too spicy. Menu is pricey for the overall quality and somewhat over-seasoned food on most counts.

However, a fellow diner said that the surf and turf was lovely, so we both plumped for that.GOOD CHOICE - it was delicious, and the homemade chips were great - and reminded me of the ones my Dad used to make for us!Col was also happy cos they have Doombar on the pumps - a particular favourite beer of his!Lovely staff and nicely cooked food - well worth another visit. There is quite an extensive

The bar is next to the restaurant and the atmosphere is the same so it really didn't matter. They had some nice hand pulled beers and the house wines were very acceptable. Everything apart from the carvery is freshly cooked which is great, the downside is that some menu items can run out. We had 2 carveries and a veggie suet pudding. I have eaten here a few times for lunch and also for dinner. The food is always lovely and the staff are very attentive making sure we had drinks and asking how our meal and if we were all happy. Worth a visit

A group of ten of us went to the Carpenters Arms for our annual christmas get together. I must admit that I went with some reservations. The Pub is certainly not the Ritz and does not claim to be. I was however pleasently surprised. The staff were attentive, the food was good and hot, we had lenty of vegatables and when we wanted our glasses refilled the staff were ready to wait on us. The puddings were also good and we had mince pies and coffee included in the price. We left all of us singing the carpenters praise. Yes a good night was had by all.

Good food, well presented .Friendly staff. The day I last went there was a male chef who seems more on the ball than the female chef who seems less organised.

Enjoyed a nice sunday lunch. Food good, service good. We went as 4 couples. No decent coffee, only filtered. Not acceptable in this day and age especially when you run a coffee shop over the road. A real shame
