Ate in the restaurant which is very modern but for the price we paid for our meal thought it was overcrowded and not much space between tables. Staff were ok and were efficient. A smile or two would have been nice. Food was good though I thought the sauce accompanying the lamb over powered the lamb. The desserts were delicious. Two courses & bottle of wine came to £113 for the two of us. We thought this reasonable.

Anna and team, you are a credit to the George! The service and detail you put into making Mum's wake such a beautiful event was impeccable. Anna especially was an absolute delight to be around and her enthusiasm and respect for making this occasion perfect can not be more appreciated. Also a special mention to the chefs and kitchen the food was amazing! Well done to everyone working that day you were all fantastic x

We had a function in the Long room. It was beautiful. Anna the events manager was so professional and ensured everything went off without a hitch, she and her husband are a credit to the hotel. The food was fantastic !!!! Everyone complemented it especially the Romney marsh lamb. We had a couple of guests with allergies, and gluten intolerance and they were equally catered for. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel for an event. And would return in a heart beat.

Delightful quirky hotel, where every design detail has been considered - the shell grotto in the ladies' loo! Rooms were spacious and comfortable. Staff was friendly and very helpful. Altogether an excellent place to stay.

Gorgeous hotel, where it’s clear a lot of thought has gone into the detail. The room was beautiful. The service was incredibly friendly and everyone went above and beyond. Food tasty and great cocktails. Couldn’t be more well located. The parking next to rye station is a short walk and only £2.50 for 24 hours.

Thank you to The George in Rye for providing an exceptional venue for our intimate wedding, and for hosting us and our wedding party for our extended stay. It was a spectacular day culminating in our Wedding Breakfast being served in the beautiful Ballroom. Our stay and wedding day was fantastic from the moment we arrived right through to our tearful farewell. We have to give very special thanks to The George’s own wedding planner Anna, who made the whole experience so special thanks to her abundant enthusiasm, professionalism, and personal loving touch. Thank you to The George and Anna. X

I stayed over with my partner for a night only. The rooms was super spacious, very clean. The hotel is ideally located, at the center of Rye. The staff at reception has been so nice and helpful. We forgot something in the room, they were posted with a next day delivery. I highly recommend if you spend the weekend in Rye!

Family lunch. The environment was very good, big table and lovely atmosphere. Excellent service but disappointed by the mains - the chicken in warm salad was very dry, the pork belly very average and the Turbot was replaced with seabass. The dessert - pears and ice cream was delicious.

Lovely staff and stylish place but food very average....had high hopes but maybe a little style over substance. Sorry.

Had lunch today in the bar. It was described as a light plate. I ordered a leek and mackerel tart and a bowl of Parmesan rosemary chips. The food arrived pretty quickly unlike the cutlery, the waitress disappeared and never returned. The tart was at most 2.5 inches across and seemed to be a firm pastry case with warm filling dumped in the middle. A tart it was not. The chips were cooked but the grated Parmesan tasted of nothing. I felt it was very unaccomplished for £18.00 and overpriced for the paltry amount of matchstick apple and two slices of radish accompanying it. My expectations were high it’s a beautiful building, gorgeously decorated the food didn’t meet up to them. A shame. Small plates when executed well make you feel joy. This did not.

Worst experience ever! AVOID! Went for lunch as it looked nice outside. The service was meh 🫤 and the food was disgusting. It took forever for them to serve the food and I was sick of the fish which was undercooked and barely had any taste.

The George looks and feels like a classy establishment but when you're actually inside you realise they are understaffed, the menu is an absolute disgrace, kitchens closed at random times due to staffing issues and they pretend to cater to vegans by listing it as an allergen option but the reality is if you're vegan you can only eat olives or peppers from their starter menu. I'd prefer you not pretend to cater and just own being a non dietary diverse establishment. The one saving grace this place has is the personality of the staff, the bar manager clearly has a passion for what he does and is incredibly insightful and knowledgeable when it comes to drinks. Treat your staff better and adjust your menu and you would be absolutely smashing it especially when in such a central picturesque place.

Terrible service. Went for lunch, very quiet, waited for a menu for 20 minutes without being greeted or served at all despite staff being present and clearing tables next to us. On our way out we saw another couple standing waiting to be seated for 10 minutes, no one acknowledged them either, glad we didn't bother. Went to the Standard down the road, busier, much better atmosphere had food and drinks on our table within 3 minutes of arriving. Excellent food and service.

The parmesan and rosemary chips were normal chips with some parmesan shards on top of them. The shards were not even melted and had no rosemary at all. The rice in my risotto was cooked correctly but I did not enjoy the flavour. I think it was the tarragon oil they added. It completely killed the flavour of the mushrooms. Service was very friendly. We struggled a few times to get the attention of the staff.

My wife and I stayed for two nights this week. Staff very friendly and extremely helpful. Went out of their way to help us. Food delicious. Service a little slow but food well worth the wait! The hotel was very busy. Lots of steps in hotel so not accessible for everyone. We are over 65 but we coped with stairs. Ideal location in centre of high street. Automatic computer access at hotel so very convenient. We will definitely stay again. Not everything written down in room but if in doubt just ask the reception staff. We had s TV control that didn't work and they came up, checked it and then replaced it. Cannot compliment the staff highly enough.

The owners of this hotel are despicable people. They treat their staff like dogs and make fun of the guests behind their back. The rooms may be OK but they are overpriced and underwhelming. Please avoid staying here don't give them your hard earned money.

I recently visited this charming little café called, and it was an absolute delight! From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by a lovely lady who served us with such grace and friendliness. The café itself is adorned with quaint furniture that adds to its cozy and inviting atmosphere. The coffee and tea were simply delightful, perfectly brewed and served with care. We also enjoyed a delicious breakfast that was both hearty and satisfying. Every detail, from the presentation to the flavors, was impeccable. Bows and Tie is a hidden gem, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delightful dining experience.

At Battle Bonfire last night and I have never experienced such bad service. The waiters were so busy talking to people they knew they didn’t even realise half the pint was spilling over and then continued to serve every person they personally knew the second they arrived at the bar which meant those who didn’t know the bartenders had a 30 minute wait. They didn’t even shake the juices so the juice was transparent.

What lovely helpful people and great food. Being a wheelchair user, they came out to me, took my order advised me where to park which was safe, then brought my fish and chips to me. And what excellent food it was too. Very hot, crispy batter and non greasy chips and plenty of them Would certainly recommend this establishment. Thank you.
