The George Hotel in Wyre Forest

Visited for beer festival, need high turnover on real ale which is what you get at wetherspoons, really nice beer and bargain prices. Chicken wings weren’t bad either!

Not as good as other spoons, chips were soggy and not the usual fresh crisp tasty ones you get elsewhere. We wanted some kids colouring pack and it took asking 4 members of staff to get the colouring pages - 3 just said over there on the table (there was non anywhere on any table or dumb waiter) finally the lady who brought our drinks over (who’s name I wish I had taken who was excellent) got us some engaged with the kids and was genuinely wonderful. Rest of the food was ok and drinks we spot on.

We visited whilst visiting family and friends in Bewdley for a family meel. The meals was all very poor in quality. Some of our drinks was terrible as well, seemed like the gas and gone. We mentioned to a team member about the quality of the food, and she said I will go and get the manager. Manager had never shown up so we left.

Stayed here for one night in a single room after driving from Somerset to spend a day with relatives. I didn't get any sleep at all despite being very tired. There was constant noise from doors banging, loud voices from guests and also early morning from staff downstairs, creaking floorboards every time someone passed as well as from rooms above.Thumps and bumps from down below.Barrels being rolled out late after closing time and again rolled in from 5.30am.Don't stay here if you want a quiet night's sleep!

My family stayed here for a 3 night stay and unfortunately my Mum developed a nasty virus or suspected Pneumonia from her arrival which progressively got worse. She was physically unwell and unresponsive and decided to leave after the second night after being nursed by my Sister and checked over by the paramedics and a Doctor. The room she stayed resembled a "box room" and was uncomfortable with no air and a view of the scaffolding. I rang the Customer Service line to see if I could possibly get some empathy and a refund or voucher for the last night she wasn't there and the answer was no because it was against their policy. This is the worst Customer Service I have ever come across and I am livid that no empathy was shown and therefore I would not recommend this Hotel to anyone and will not be booking again.

Visited just after 2 o'clock on Thursday 14th so 3 of us ate from afternoon menu and one from normal. 4 mains plus drink offers came to £43. Food arrived quickly and we all enjoyed our meals. Excellent value for money and super service.

Popped in for lunch, and what a lunch we had ,the wife panni bq chicken bacon and cheese with chips, wife said worth coming in for, and trust me from my wife this is very good. I had the midday brunch did not expect it to be quite as big as it was (lovely jubbly ) but managed to eat the lot ( pig ) overall full up at a very good price, also the service was fast .

As ever, there are those people who try to take advantage of a new place that has just opened . They moan about everything from the table they have been allocated ( even though they haven’t booked) to the temperature of the butter. I felt sorry for the staff who did everything they could including bringing new meals. They couldn’t have done more. Our meal was perfect, two good juicy steaks, bottle of wine, nice puddings,what more do you want. Well done Charlotte and the rest of the team. Sorry you had to put up with those entitled prat’s. We will be back

Requested a medium steak.Tge rare steak was indeed rare.A rare example of a poor quality and poorly cooked steak.I cook steak everyday of the week.I'd be embarrassed to serve this.

Cheap and cheerful. You know what to expect and there is a wide choice. We visit once a month usually if ony for coffee

Having lived in a village not far from Bewdley have passed the George numerous times over the years so finally to stay for a couple of days was a treat. Great place and our room overlooked Load Street. Lovely buildings to look at it hasn't changed in years still has its old world charm. Our room was large with a large bathroom everything you would need in a room also an iron and ironing board. Managing the stairs was a challenge with luggage they are very steep and windy but we did help when we checked in. The breakfast was good an extensive menu all served with a smile. Excellent staff always smiling. This is a very busy place, full of atmosphere and would heartily recommend.

Met some friends for an early breakfast here today. Very friendly welcome, vey fast service and the food was lovely. Good job!

impressive building . very busy at 1100 . ordered a sirloin steak . served with a sirloin steak and chips . no salad or garnish . didnt look like a meal . if you want all the trimmings its an extra £2.00 . if this is the new standard , we will eat elsewhere , not at wetherspoons.

Breakfasts are brilliant value for money, staff are always friendly and welcoming. Bit too rowdy for me of an evening but great spot for a quick bite and cheap pint!

Apparently according to the member of staff taking orders last night that thete is no option as to how you want your steak cooked on a mixed grill.Even more crazy is the fact that "we don't do English mustard" anymore.Bit disappointing but nice refreshing pint of Thatchers.

Room was too high up for me too many steps as I've got mobility problems found it hard , 2 people checking in before us took 25 mins apparently problem with card machine so total of 40 mins waiting before getting our cards . Room very small o/h had to walk sideways around bed.nice shower .

Lovely building well converted to hotel /pub the room we had was small but practical a little dated furniture but it did what it was built for, rooms are clean and beds comfy only critisism is the water pressure of the shower electric for some reason when the radiators and basin were gas heated ??? the result was as if you were being pissed on by an angel this is my only complaint. anyone who complains of weatherspoons bars and food is an absolute idiot do you not realise how much your payindg for said fare do you really expect perfection afterall its cheap thats why you went there.

I stopped off at this place with my lad today, (Sat 19th March 2022) for a drink with my lad. Felt a bit hungry, so we decided to eat here. Its been about 18 months since I've been to a Spoons and I knew the food here used to be a good value for money option. Like I said.... USED to be... Place was busy, and service was pretty good. We both ordered the steak, medium rare, with Jack Daniels sauce, and soft drinks of Pepsi were included in the price... About £10 each, so £20 cost. 18 months ago, this meal would consist of a steak, chips, half grilled tomato, a flat mushroom, usually some onion rings or fried onions and a drink... So I recommended to my son we both take the same. Food was promptly brought to our table, and to be honest, I were very surprised to have it out so quickly.... That was at least, until I saw it. Then I realised why it could be prepared so quickly. Steak... With a half handful of chips... That's it. The prices have increased in the last 18 months, and it seems the meals decreased not only in value, but also in size. There's a pub over the road above a pizza place, and for the same £20, I could have ordered a large good tasting, value for money pizza that would have sated both our appetites... In future I will go there. A photo of my meal has been included.. Please try not to laugh, but just visualise it in front of YOU after you have spent your hard earned dollars on it... Popped in for a quick lunch, filled in the track and trace form and put it in an open box, following everyone else’s example- no GDPR here then. Walked in, couldn’t find anywhere clean to sit, read the sign that all food and drink available only from the app, turned round to leave. Great little pub in the heart of Bewdley! Great value for money! Generous with their portion sizes and happy to help. Will definitely be returning and highly recommend.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon and well the whole experience was awful. The till staff were rude too busy listening into other staff conversations, we had to keep repeating ourselves. I ordered a sirloin steak, medium rare, and the steak that arrived was well done and a rump steak (coming from someone who cuts and handles steaks on a daily basis) The fork they gave me to eat my food with was dirty (see photo below) when asking for another one they brought it 10 minutes later to the point the food was just about warm, the peas were rock hard like they had been microwaved left under a hot lamp and re microwaved (see below) and when it came to cutting the steak it was so fatty I could hardly cut it or chew it (see below) the serving staff were rude and had no customer service skills. And working in the industry myself I know everyone has to start somewhere but it’s common sense really not to be rude. Also to top it all off the do not provide warning signs for low ceilings and steps as one of our party hit his head and nearly fell down the stairs all in all AVOID this establishment.

Had a lovely breakfast at the George........But it was cold. Should have complained but did'nt. Service, quality of food was excellent, but everything on the plate was cold. WHY?

It's only the second time we've used the Wetherspoons app, but it's made the eating and drinking experience a real game changer.One of the benefits of dining at a Wetherspoons is the fact that once you've eaten you can just get up and leave, the benefit of prepayment. But now using the app you can order and pay from your table, drinks and food.Our experience proved a great success drinks and food ordered, drinks came to our table promptly followed shortly after by our meal. So a pint of Magners (£1.99) and a pint of real ale as part of a meal deal. This was followed by mains of Scampi, Mushy peas & chips along with a Drive thru Burger, chips & onion rings. So all in all a pretty tasty meal, great service, no queuing at the bar to get your order in, what more could you expect.

Had a breakfast with friends and we all thought it was very good. Service and atmosphere was good. Convenient location in the main street.

Fabulous little stay just before Christmas - spotlessly clean room, very cosy, bed really comfy...breakfast was very nice - staff really friendly..free parking - and! U don’t have to be up at the crack of dawn for breaky - the morning after the night before (works do) u can have a cheeky little sleep In and still be on time for breakfast. Fabulous . Thank you.

I stayed at the george for my birthday celebration with family and friends. The staff were so friendly and accomodating. The service was so quick, even when the pub was busy, and the food was great. I would reccomend this hotel, but it can get noisy on a saturday night, but that shows how popular the place is.

This handsome town centre boozer - and associated hotel - is instantly recognisable as part of the Wetherspoons chain as soon as you step across the threshold.

Being part of the Wetherspoons chain, it’s not surprising that the George Hotel knows its market and caters for it extremely well. We enjoyed brunch and an evening meal there and both were tasty and well-prepared, and served efficiently. Food and drinks are very reasonably priced. The menu for an evening meal is fairly limited, with lots of fast food like burgers but there are also some more interesting meals. The George has a long history, a good atmosphere and it’s usually packed. Many customers use the App but we went to the bar to order, where we were served promptly. A five is deserved because, while not the best place in Bewdley for a meal, you know exactly what to expect and the pub does it very well, giving customers enjoyable food and drink at very good value in a pleasant environment.

We had 2 Coeliacs in our family group and the brilliant thing is that Wetherspoons are really geared up to cater for people with all sorts of food allergies and deserve a pat on the back for that.

We didn't eat here but those on our coach who did said the meals were good. Good range of ales, ciders, gins etc.. and bar man very friendly when serving and welcoming.

We were visiting Bewdley for a few days & as the 4th Sept was our ruby wedding anniversary we decided to have a meal in the George hotel. We found a table ( lunch time ) Having perused the menu i ordered a large mixed grill & the wife ordered a steak ( sirloin ) we were told it would take 10 minutes--- alarm bells started ringing ! When i was cooking there was no way i could produce a mixed grill in that time ! The meal arrived -- my meat looked "tired" on trying to cut the steak it became apparent very quickly that it had been keeping warm for some time -as had the rest of the meat section of my meal ( except the sausages ) the chicken was like sawdust, the steak was dry & hard as was the gammon. The rest of my meal -- the fried egg had not been in the pan for long & on arrival of my meal the yolk was broken & spattered on the plate, the tomato consisted o half of one slice, the mushroom ( all one slice ) also look sad. The chips in places were "soggy" with unknown liquid.The wife reported here meal was ,well, sort of "all right" but said in a reluctant way .So where does that leave us -- Well if this is the "norm" for Wetherspoons i think i will walk past & get a packet of sandwiches from the Co-op up the road.....

We stayed at the George for three nights and ate breakfast and evening meal. It was always well cooked and served quickly. One bad point, they had a special offer on at breakfast, which I ordered, the order was wrong and the waitress insisted she was right, until I pointed out the exact way I had paid for the meal, she went and checked and gave no apology but said it would be changed, it came and although the right food, not the right amount, and no butter, so once again sent back. Good when we eventually ate it. Shift manager told us it was displayed wrongly but next morning was just the same as day before. They either need to redo the special offer sheet or give what they offer.

Been a while since we called in here, I'm pleased to say the standards haven't slipped, good pint fast and efficient service and a great meal.

Staff were friendly, and attentive. However the chefs need to learn how to cook steak. Asked for medium rare, came back well done. Asked to change it and staff apologised and had a replacement and nothing was an issue but steak came back blue. Didn’t want to moan again. Will have something different to eat next time

Been before on a 2 night break so easy decision to go in for food. Very busy but order taken quickly and I was surprised how soon the food arrived. Very enjoyable. Staff friendly, professional and extremely hard working. Went back the following day for lunch and just as good. Can't beat it for pub grub.

Dined here Friday for fish & Chips and a pint. Excellent value and not long to wait for them to arrive at our table. Just a couple of complaints, only one table available and it was swimming in liquids. Asked the manager behind the bar if I could have a cloth, but he asked what table number and that he would send someone over to clean it. This never happened, I asked again when I ordered at the bar, and the lady serving asked someone to clean the table which they did. Thanks Mr Manager for dealing with the problem when 1st asked. Second complaint, and it's a problem in every Wetherspoons I have been in, and it's the game of roulette getting served at the bar. Only 2 serving at the George and about 8 people waiting to be served. Most people have manners but on this occasion, 2 geezers just walked up to the bar and ordered their drinks, knowing full well that there was people before them. But that's the Britain of today for you.

Wonderful food with great service, even though pub was absolutely heaving food arrived within 15 mins, was hot and plentiful, children’s meals were also lovely. Great portions and tasty food.

Well spaced out in side. There are tables and chairs in the outer part down the side which is a domed type conservatory.Food is excellent and service good as well.

An extensive menu, catering for all tastes. The conservatory area provided a lovely relaxed and informal atmosphere to eat and drink. Definitely recommend.

Really enjoy the steaks here, fab value on a Tuesday, great breakfast deals too staff very friendly and helpful. Had some bad experiences with the Fish'n'Chips a year or so ago so avoid it for the Friday deal.

It is a popular pub and can be very busy so on occasions you need to Que for a short time, but it is worth it. We had the mix grill which was cooked to perfection and a good amount so very good value for money.

We've stayed in a lot of Wetherspoons hotels and this one didn't quite come up to their usual standard. Don't get me wrong, we had a comfortable night's sleep and the room was lovely and clean, but it was a bit on the compact side and the decor was a bit dowdy. Nice to have bottled water, tea and coffee making facilities and biscuits, but a box of tissues would have rounded off that small attention to detail. The receptionists on check-out and check-in were helpful and friendly. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast in the bar downstairs the following morning, as well as late drinks on the Saturday night. It's great that this hotel has a spacious car park for guests. Our room overlooked the main street over to the statue of Stanley Baldwin, but it wasn't too noisy.

Only good thing I can say is the meal was quick coming out. That will be why my chicken on my burger was like boot leather had been microwaved and was dry over cooked and tasteless. The lady behind the bar wasn’t helpful with the drinks either I had a coffee when asked where the coffee machine was got a reply of round the corner, well which one? Just received a blank stare would never go again

Went there for lunch today with my daughter. We had a nice steak and also a drink for £8.70 each. We paid extra for the onion rings and the pepper sauce for the steak so came to just over £22 for both of us.Good that you can change the chips for a jacket potato too.Place itself needs a refurb I think but hey for the money it's good value.

We stopped here for a drink on a hot Easter Saturday, understandably busy but efficient service from the long bar area. As we came in the back way I hadn’t realised it was a Wetherspoons and was pleasantly surprised at the price of the drinks. Huge array of drinks available, the food appearing looked OK and was certainly popular but a strong smell of chips where we were sitting outside. Small car park behind the pub with narrow access.

Hotel rooms should be checked before guests book in. Room 207 reserved for me was very tiny, window shut but still leaked air from outside. The tv wouldn't work, so I was transferred to room 101 where I found the heated towel rail didnt work and neither did the bedside lamp. Bulb had blown.I didn't move again as I was tired by this point, especially in a small hotel with steep stairs. Food was average Wetherspoons, you pay for what you get and a lot of extra;s now to make a plated meal up. Portions are still small. I would think again before staying in another Wetherspoons. Single rooms are very tiny and claustraphophic.
