Popped in for a meal, they were about to close the kitchen for the evening, we were very great full to them, for taking our food order, excellent service great food, you will be seeing us again.

Drive past here often and never looks appealing and always looks quiet!!! Choose here as not far from my family and took them for a Sunday lunch. I was in for a shock the place was really busy so obviously a popular place. Environment was warm and welcoming. Service was exceptional and food was really tasty and plenty of it. Would go again.

The food was only just passable, but some of our group said it was a bit dry, and we all waited too long. Obviously, a microwave is used for the Lamb shank and real gravy - forget it. In all a total waste of a lot of money. The staff didn't want to know. We awaited drinks and wine and had to remind the staff. They really need to up their game and, meantime, spend your money elsewhere.

Always a reliable good meal and experience. Great value and always polite and friendly. Would highly recommend. Allan WILKINSON

The Hintlesham George is our favourite family eating place. Our latest visit was a Sunday dinner for our son's 21st birthday celebration. The food was high quality, as always, and the staff were very helpful. People who accuse the staff of being rude are probably in the wrong county. Suffolk folk are quite reserved, with a dry sense of humour, which can be hard for some visitors to grasp. We are friendly when you get to know us, but we are not likely to be constantly asking if everything is ok. Maybe get over yourself and consider how you are treating the staff? We like the George so much, that we will be celebrating our daughter's wedding there later this year.

Decided to visit as I fancied a change of scenery from my hotel down the road. Had a couple of very nice pints and a great (fully loaded) chicken and ham pie. Was old school cooking like my nan used to do. Staff were friendly too so I cannot fault my visit as all.

We have been going to the George for years and have always had good meals and service, that`s why i took 21 friends last year for a Christmas meal. After todays rude hissy fit from the lady owner we wont be returning. My wife and I called in for lunch as we had done many times and the owners do recognise us with a smile and we ordered 2 roast beef dinners which arrived quite quickly after our drinks. The owners wife appeared after a few minutes to see if all was ok and i asked if we could 2 steak knives as the meat was really hard to cut. She said that no one had complained all day and said she would change the beef for something else which we declined as we had eaten most of the potatoes and veg and thought it not fair and that it was just an unfortunatly bad cut of meat. when we went to pay, again she was very abrupt and said she would deduct the drinks which i was happy to do. She was quite agietated and i said it was hard to see into a joint before cutting it and understood. with this she screwed up the bill and thought it over her shoulder and said " Well, the lunch is on me and have a good day". She was obviously having a bad day, but to speak to us in the rude manner to returning costumers was totally uncalled for. It upset us so much that we will not be returning nor recommending.

We called in on the off chance of getting a table on Sunday lunchtime. They had a table spare. My wife had roast pork & I had roast beef. Both meals were delicious. The plate itself was hot, so that meant the dinner stayed hot right through the meal. Good size portions & plenty of different varieties of vegetables. The service was excellent.

WON'T BE GOING BACK! This man I'm guessing is owner was so bloody rude and even raised his voice to me infront of my children which I didn't appreciate. The food is awful weatherspoons food is better .. children felt like they couldn't play either .. have to say the waitress was surprisingly nice

Brilliant service and great food. We have been there several times and the food is always good and reasonably priced . The home made cheesecake is great and my favourite dessert. Lots of parking and friendly staff . Highly recommend.

I went out for Mother’s Day with my family and whilst the food was of an ok standard the same can not be said of the waitress or service ! Initially we were really happy with the young dark haired lady who took our order but sadly everyone appeared to get involved with the desserts more or less being thrown at us by the blond girl who’s face was like thunder ! My son actually asked if he’d done something wrong when she left ! The Eton mess has two tiny fresh pieces of strawberry and the rest were clearly tinned or had been frozen ! Icecream for the children two scoops £3.50 and they could only have vanilla !! We won’t return, the food is mediocre pub grub at best and as a few people have said the service is quite honestly poor!

Went for Mother’s Day so expected it to be busy. Generally the food was ok I had the smoked salmon to start which was nice and the horseradish source I have to say was really impressive For main I had roast pork, which was nice but served with 5 tiny roast potatoes that where clearly frozen. The desert again was ok, I had apple crumble but served with fake cream which spoilt it. The staff where very rude and offered no personality what so ever. First time I’ve been in 10 years and certainly won’t be going back again.

We came last year and it was nice, however after a second visit we shall not be visiting again. Upon entering the pub, we asked for a menu and the waitress gave it to us like it was a lot of effort to do this. Not a friendly welcoming. We sat down and the waitress then came over a few minutes later, when we asked something she was very rude, not the customer service you would be expecting, especially when the place was empty! We decided to not stay and go onto somewhere else.

Was looking forward to visiting for a meal having read the reviews but was very disappointed. Typical basic pub grub. Cold lamb shank, undercooked veg and tasteless curry. The waitress taking our order was rude and impatient when taking our order saying ‘don’t rush, I’ve only got 27 people waiting in the conservatory’. Other service was ok but the ambiance was lacking. Dessert was ok. Would not rush back or recommend.

Enjoyed a super family lunch. My first visit. Parking great if you have a mobility issue. Incredibly good service, owners have a lovely manner with customers. Plenty of meal choices with smaller plate (and price) option for many of the mains and desserts for those with smaller appetites. We will go again.

This is the second time we have arranged a family celebration here. Great food, good selection of Gin & cider. The service was excellent, yes it was quiet but either way we would of been happy. We need to support our rural public Houses.

Have to place a review havingbjust enjoyed a lovely meal. Home made beef and red wine pie packed with meat, 3 choices of veg and all for £12. The chicken curry served with all accompaniments packed with meat. Lovely conservatory and view of the garden. Excellent service and a lovely menu, worth a visit.

Quite possibly the worst meal I have ever been served. Undercooked food, and traditional sherry trifle somehow turned into a fruit cocktail with a blob of dream topping! Extremely disappointed. Would never recommend to anyone!

Our good neighborhood scheme returned for the second year to this brilliant location for a large number of people. We nearly filled their conservatory which was beautifully decorated and lovely and warm. We had a chosen what we wanted to eat from their Christmas Menu many weeks in advance.Some people chose smaller meals which was a very good option which was nice for our people with smaller appetites. There was also an option for 2 or 3 courses, both very reasonably priced.None of our guests from our village had any complaints which was excellent for so many people. I had a prawn cocktail for my starter, followed by salmon then Christmas Pudding and custard. The service was very efficient and the food was served up piping hot. Our organiser actually booked again for next Christmas to avoid being disappointed.

We went for lunch with my husband and a friend and had a very tasty lunch. What was lovely was the “ small plate “ menu. My friend and I had pie, and my husband steak ( which was not small plate) which was cooked perfectly. Very friendly staff and very clean. I think there will be another trip from Colchester quite soon

Stopped off on route to Suffolk holiday for lunch and turned out to be a great choice. Good menu options plenty of seating very friendly and helpful staff. Thoroughly recommended if you are local or in the area

Being very short on time, we asked the very polite man behind the bar what was the quickest item on the menu to prepare. After a few options were given we decided on our meals. All I can say is the quickness, the quality of the food and the staff were excellent. We would definitely recommend and will return!

I always enjoy calling in here for a delicious coffee. The staff are friendly and helpful. I love sitting outside at the back when the weather is nice.

We had driven past this pub several times during the week and so we decided to stop and try it, the place was deceiving as from.the road it didnt look as large, inside it was extensive with a large double bar area and the restaurant to the rear which was fresh and airy, menu wasnt extensive but a nice choice and there were specials on the wall, we all chose different dishes and all were very well cooked and presented, garlic and cheese mushrooms were especially good, good drinks menu, place was very clean and service was excellent, delightful pub, well worthstopping for and trying.

Decent country pub with a fun quiz night.

This is a pub that serves real home cooked excellent food an is run by a lovely couple. We had lunch and two evening dinners here and enjoyed the atmosphere, great food and excellent service on all three occasions. The home cooed pies are outstanding.

The atmosphere was good, nice surroundings, excellent service. We actually dined in the newer part of the building, but the older part of the pub looked good too. There was a good choice of traditional English dishes. The quality and portions were very good and tasty. There was a small appetite menu available as well suitable for children or adults.

Staff were really friendly, food was lovely, inexpensive and tasty. The restaurant is lovely and clean, already booked for a family meal for mothers day. Lived in Suffolk now for 12 years and can't believe we didn't know it was there! Will be making regular trips

Stopped for lunch en route to Ipswich. Everything was of a good standard and as expected of a well run pub. A very varied menu that should cater for most tastes. Well done.

We had dinner in The George on a Friday evening when it was strangely quiet, and because of this we were given a table in the bar so we wouldn't feel lonely in the restaurant! Service was friendly and considerate, (one of our party is handicapped).

My partner and I love this pub from its friendly and welcoming team to the delicious food (especially the homemade pies and cheesecake) and the pub quiz every Thursday. We eat here often and always had a tasty meal - there is a specials board as well as the menu so plenty of choice.

Having walked for nearly an hour and a half with my dog, specifically to have lunch here, I was disappointed to find that I had to sit outside because they did not allow dogs anywhere inside. This is disappointing because it is a big place and part of the bar has flagstones rather than carpet, so no mess/hair implications. They must be doing well if they can afford to exclude part of society from going there...

Have driven past the George hundreds of times, it’s decent enough looking, has a beer garden out back and plenty of parking.

We were pleased to be warmly welcomed by the staff here after a poor experience at the beagle pub. At very short noticed they set a table for 11 of us. Food service was prompt and reasonably priced. Thank you for looking after us all with little notice.

Had party of 14 all starters sent back and replaced, second ones also replaced, third OK. Main meal 12 of the 14 really bad 2 of the 12 so bad werent fit to eat. Very expensive even it had been a top rated meal

Decided to take Mum here for her 91st birthday lunch based on the good reviews on here. Well, what can I say...absolutely first class!! We arrived just after 1pm and were greeted by a friendly young waiter and as it wasn't busy we chose to sit in the lovely conservatory by the window.

Boring menu, mediocre food. Won't be going back. Looks good enough from the outside, but turned out to be almost empty (I wonder why!) and lacking any kind of atmosphere.

Dropped in for a meal with some work mates. Service was very friendly and the pub was spotless. We all had Steak & Ale Pie and it was excellent. A nice big portion of homemade pie, lovely mash and fresh veg for just over a tenner. After a long day we couldn’t ask for anything more. Add in good cask beer at reasonable prices and the George is a winner. Will be back when next in the area. Thanks.

Me and my partner and our dear work friends old and new were here for our meet up which we try and do once every two months for a nice meal and a few drinks and a catch up. as all ways are food was nice and tasty and the landlord and landlady were very welcoming and the staff are always very welcoming and friendly as well. Daughter in-law working so my son picked here for lunch place was nearly empty 4other people and our group of 5 my son decided to have the carvery not impressed the rest of us had pies which they are known for overall OK 7 out of ten had better had worse .

Unplanned visit for lunch en route home. It was near end of food service, midweek and pub nearly empty but service was really friendly and the food very good. Had the beef and ale pie and others had chicken burger and vegetarian pie. Simple, no frills, no fuss food which was just what was needed! Had 2 year old granddaughter with us and made to feel welcome too.

Me and my partner and five friends were here for dinner I had the fish and chips as did my partner and we both enjoyed the main course and also the desserts my partner had profiteroles rolls and I had the chocolate fudge cake and that was very tasty as well. this was the Christmas lunch for the Mercedes Benz Club Anglia south region. The food was pre ordered from the varied menu, once again the various meats were more than plentiful with ample roasties all served on hot plates accompanied by again ample veg. Have just returned from having lunch here and was very impressed. Being a vegetarian there were plenty of options on the menu for me and I was spoilt for choice. There was also a nice diverse range of drinks on offer.

This pub is becoming a regular monthly meeting place for our Car club. The food and service is very good and the atmosphere very relaxed There is never a crowd here and that might deter some people but have no fear as the food is always hot and plentiful. Its a village pub in deepest Suffolk. It lacked atmosphere and ambience and doesn't serve Guinness. I here the pies were nice but because it was empty so we didn't stay.

Me and my partner and work mates,we're here on the 18th of march great food and drinks very nice landlady and landlord and staff we come here nearly ever month if possible the gents could do with a bit of tlc as a loud nice coming from the flush on one of the toilet cisterns and the hand dryer needs to be upgraded but a part from that could not ask for a better country run pub .

Recently visited as live nearby and is convenient service is good the homemade pies are very good. They were holding a party in the conservatory and the food looked good. Not a wow place but good pub food.

We visited on a Saturday evening with friends. Unfortunately we were unable to eat in the restaurant as there was a private party in there. Strangely the lovely restaurant which incorporates a conservatory remained closed even after the party left around 7.30. Food was served in the bar that evening.The menu was good and incorporates 'small plates' for those with small appetites. There were also specials on the blackboard. The homemade soup of the day was delicious as were all the dishes our partŷ of four enjoyed. Their service was excellent and we would recommend this restaurant for a nice evening out.

Visited for Sunday roast and a drink or two while staying locally. Sadly the 2 Yorkshire puddings served with the roast dinner were cremated, the gravy was lacking in volume, taste and was like water, and the drinks were grossly over priced! Over all the whole meal was tasteless and the Yorkshire puddings burnt! I pointed this out and was told that someone else had commented on the Yorkshires being 'over done', yet they felt the need to serve them to us also. The waitresses weren't very attentive either and the drinks were overpriced in my opinion. I certainly won't be going back and I wouldn't recommend eating here. A big disappointment.

Pub quite attractively laid out and very pleasant and friendly staff. The menu we thought was definitely more exciting than the food, The starters were quite reasonable and not over priced but the main courses lacked finesse. My partners chicken and mushroom pie was ok but was a very small portion served with mashed potato, my thai fish cakes were definitely home made a) because of the shape of them and b) I could not taste any fish or chilli in fact they were tasteless, my boiled potatoes were well done, very well done! Main dishes were £9.99 which as it was more like pub grub would have been expensive but as early diners we had 15% off. Drinks were not cheap either. Unfortunately would not return in a hurry

We attended a wedding reception at this venue. We have passed this place on numerous occasions and never been in. The room at the side and back is 'barn like' & a great venue for the reception. The landlady runs a tight ship with her great team of staff. Food was served promptly & very hot. Great portion sizes. Service at the bars was also very prompt. This is a good venue for children as they offer a play area too. If the disco or music is too loud there are comfy areas to retreat to so everyone is catered for. I can't believe we haven't been here before. We will visit again in the future.

My husband and I had a meal here on the first night of our holiday. The service was friendly and caring and the food was superb, freshly home cooked and tasty. There was a board of sweets to choose from and the pub was friendly.

I have eaten here before so I thought I would take my Mum and Dad for my Dad's 80th Birthday. The Dining room is a lovely place to sit and the staff are always pleasant and welcoming.My parents ordered the Stew and Dumplings, which came with vegetables on a seperate plate. They really enjoyed their meal. I had the beef burger, chips and coleslaw, I had not had this before, previously I'd had the roast dinner and chicken with bacon and cheese and both meals were great. However this time I was disappointed. The burger was quite small and I had a lot of bun left over and the chips were greasy, the coleslaw was just a teaspoon. This meal needs to be looked at. My Dad had the Ice Cream Sundae for dessert which he really enjoyed and I had the Banoffee Mess which was ok. Yes I would eat here again but not the beef burger or desserts.

Overall quite a disappointing visit. The staff wore Guinness t-shirts, yet the pub does not serve Guinness on tap. The food was poor (the crisps were stale, the meals we ordered from the kitchen were clearly frozen food reheated; nothing was fresh). In general, the impression was of a pub in decline trying to cut corners, and probably best avoided.

We were a family of 6 adults. Bar staff amazing and very friendly and helpful. Meals came quick although three meals were muddled on , chips, fries potatoes etc. These are served on separate plates to main meal, so easily remedied by ourselves swapping. One meal however veg were so hard and had to be left, and the meat tasted so processed this was left too. but as this was a family occasion and we didn't want to make a scene, we didn't say anything, which resulted in one person eating hardly any of their meal. However this said, all other meals were lovely, tasty and served piping hot. We won't let this problem stop us going again, as staff are amazing, friendly and professional.

We booked in for 19:30 and arrived at 19:00. There are lovely soft furnishing areas in the main bar and dining room which gives you time to relax and meet up prior to eating. The layout and furniture in the dining area are above basic but not luxurious, however perfectly fine for an evening out with friends. The food is exactly what is required from pub food and the plates all went back empty, steaks were cooked to perfection and side dishes were freshly prepared and delicious. All in all a good place to eat informally. As someone who is gluten free everything is clearly marked.

Good food, reasonably priced apart from desserts which seem rather expensive. Staff pleasant and obliging.
