The George Eliot in Nuneaton and Bedworth

Lovely time, great food, tasty beer and super staff! We were there to watch the six Nations matches and had a brill time. Will be back 🍻🍟

The George Eliot offers a really nice friendly welcome. It is a warm spacious pub showing all sports on big screens around the building. The food offers good value for money, it’s hot served in quick time and with a smile. Support this town centre location other than the the cheap big names in the vicinity.

Went to the George for a quick bite to eat and felt very welcome as soon as I walked in. Food came out quickly and hot and definitely hit the spot. Will definitely be coming here again!

Nipped in for a pint to kill time. Good service warm and friendly. Didn’t try any food but menu was good and what I saw served looked nice.

Visited with friends. Service was good. We had 241 cocktails which were cheap and good value. Some of us had food and this was lovely. My steak was perfect. Staff very friendly.

Came to the George Eliot with my nieces and sister for a bite to eat, we had a lovely lunch for not to much money at all and the children’s meals were a good size. Friendly service at the bar and helpful.

Met with family for the afternoon. We ordered food and drink at such excellent prices . We received food all the food was what we ordered and hot served from very pleasent staff.

Watched the recent England game here and food was served to outside patio garden. Children’s menu and main course menus reasonably priced and really nice

Watched England v Scotland at the George. The service was first class even though they were extremely busy. Drinks were served very quickly after ordering via the app. Even when the app crashed at half-time they were there with paper and pen ready to serve.

Excellent service, food and drinks consistently arrived quickly and the staff were friendly and efficient. I particularly enjoyed watching the football on the outdoor screen on a sunny Sunday

Visited with family for food. New menu so totally different. We sat inside and ordered via the qr code on the table which is really easy to do. NHS track and trace also given with various posters around reminding you to fill it out and the staff remind you as well. Food was lovely and fresh the fish was amazing for the price. Beer was good with doom bar the only cask on which is kept in good condition. The garden was busy as it was sunny and its a great garden for the sun. Great visit and we will be back.

Visited twice this month for lunch and evening meal with family. Excellent prompt service both times. Food was tasty, came out quickly and great value for money. Plenty of covid procedures in place. Large beer garden to sit in which is a big asset. Will be returning, highly recommend.

We visited as a family for food and drinks and sat outside upstairs as it was sunny. This is a huge sun trap and gets the sun all day. We ordered from Callum who was very helpful and he also took our details for the track and trace. Food came quickly and was very nice. My pint of doom bar was also lovely. We have heard it is also under new management since the lockdown and we cant fault our visit. We will be back just a shame the summer has now gone.

this pub/restaurant serves the best food i’ve ever had, the steak was cooked to perfection and the burgers were amazing and so high end for the price. one chef cooked mine and my girlfriends meals and i could not fault it at all. everything looked homemade. the drinks were such a good price! the staff are friendly and polite. it has a lovely beer garden with outdoor heating. one of my favourite pubs for a drink and now one of my favourite restaurants. tops wetherspoons anyday and for the price it’s unbeaten!

Always a customer for drinks at the geroge elliot and can never fault the service or the atmosphere. Tried the food on a one off and very glad we did. The steaks are cooked to perfection at your choice and come very well present. Could not fault one bit of the meal or the service would definitely try this place again couldnt have found a better food spot. I've always loved this pub. Nice to see after lockdown food / drink as good as ever. Covid procedures taken seriously, staff are always friendly and welcoming.

Fantastic service, lovely atmosphere and food. For people with extra needs I cannot recommend "the George" enough. I've lived in Nuneaton for 20+yrs and didn't know it served food.

Shopping in Nuneaton popped in to have a bit of lunch. Burger a few chips and a mug of tea £5.29. Did not have to wait food came quickly, not many in so nice and peaceful. Will call in again

I do like this pub,I would say upstairs is the best place to eat quieter,downside is have to go fetch drinks from downstairs,food is brilliant for price&very big portions offer puddings but after dinner won’t be able to fit,menu caters for quite a few meals,staff lovely polite did not have to wait long for order,as said really good place to eat

We visit Nuneaton from Washington every year to see my sister and have always enjoyed the George Eliot. The food has never been fantastic, but it always taste good. The staff always has a smile and the service is great. This place is well worth the visit.

Popped in here with my granddaughter ordered lunch for two with two sides and drinks found the staff very friendly and very helpful. The ambiance was nice the meal was lovely very tasty. Will pop in again when we are shopping.

My wife and I stopped off here for a drink and something to eat. I had the mixed grill and my wife had the simply chicken with baked potatoe and a side salad. This with two drinks was very reasonable price

Been a few fimes had no complaints. But tonight we went in for a few drinks and a meal, did not buy any of the meal deals I paid the full price for chicken and ribs skillet and hubby had the gammon. He asked for his really well done but it was blubbery, I was supposed to have sizzling onions on a skillet with ribs and chicken the onions were Rore and they were cold tomato mushroom and corn was cold, ribe were tepid the chicken breast werent bad, had to take it back the cook took it back upstairs and within 3 minutes the waitress bought it back sizzling a bit onions were a bit hotter. Ate the chicken and the chips the rest was left on my plate. Paid the bill with a company vouceer and paid more for the rubbish meal and drinks than what I would of if I paid the full price, to my reckoning it should of been approx £23 however we got charged approx £25.77 did question it but got a mixed up explanation how the voucher worked. I have been using the company vouchers for over 10 years and have never been ripped off before, however wont be happening again as I wont be eating there again ever. Wide birth from now on, manager was not very helpful, waitress did not want to know.

Called in today for a quick lunch with mum and daughter, very welcoming staff , comfortable and roomy restaurant with a nice atmosphere. Had 2 katsu chicken and scampie and chips which where all really good, we enjoyed and will be back

I have been here on a number of occasions and I can’t fault it! Friendly staff great service and a food menu with lots of variety and well made! This is my regular now and would recommend highly if your in Nuneaton and looking for a good atmosphere with great food and drinks

One of the few pubs in Nuneaton with a beer garden. On Saturday afternoon we had to leave in a hurry due to a fight starting that involved glasses and bottles being broken to be used as weapons, men and women hitting each other, shouting and swearing.....too awful. As we went to tell the person behind the bar one man was rushing out the back with radio to hand.- the fight had at this stage being going on for almost 10 minutes Went back later that evening when all was settled, was told kitchen was open till 8.pm but when we tried to order some tapas dishes at 7.30 was told the kitchen was already closed. The outside tables were not cleared of empty glasses or plates all the time we were there......never again.

Came to the pub today with the clients I support and I was very impressed with the service that James Barnett, the assistant manager provided. Good food and excellent service both with myself and my clients. Very friendly atmosphere. Will return!

I go to this pub every sunday and its never disappoint me the food is nice and cheap drinks also cheap and all the staff are friendly and welcoming and also you can haveva laugh with the manager of the pub would recommend eveytime of you like good prices and good atmospheres

Me an my mate used to be regular visitors to nuneaton but not been for some time, so when finally getting to go we decided to eat at george elliot hotel as never had a bad meal there before.

Stayed over with work friends here so made the most of the "very cheap" Thursday nite drinks! 2 gin for £5 let alone the £1.25 lagers - it's all on the website! Good service too!

Needed somewhere to watch the football when away from home. Found this place. Food is fantastic and incredibly priced. Have been here 5 times in past two weeks and yet to have a complaint. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Drinks for whatever you like...ale, lager, cider. You will not be disappointed. If your in the area, head to this place.

Found this lovely little pub with great food & a wide range of ales, ciders & spirits. An extensive choice of meals, TVs for all sports & great looking staff that are very friendly have attracted me back for quite a few evenings of food/drinks & banter

Went past the george eliot Monday afternoon noticed the menu had changed and sounded good for the money. We had a drink and ordered the food, again they were very polite and helpful, wanted salad instead of chips with my gammon no problem at all only waited about 10 minutes for the food to arrive, my husband had the chilli which was vety nice had a kick to it, my gammon was cooked to perfection a good size with egg and pineapple. Great value for money, 2 drinks each and 2 main meals for less that £20 oh and a great drypink gin & tonic over ice and lime for £1.99. Dry January has been good for me really enjoyed it.

Popped into the Geroge Eliot Hotel (Which is an Oak Tree pub which i have never been in one of those) before going shopping around the shops. Nice interior, with an upstairs seating area. We sat downstairs and i ordered a nice latte to have while waiting for my food to come out. The latte was only £1.75!

Lovely work lunch with a group of work colleagues today. The pub were able to accommodate a large group, reserving a table upstairs. We pre-ordered over the phone and drinks were brought to the table rather than us ordering individually at the bar. The food was served promptly on arrival and there were numerous comments from the group regarding how nice the food was. I would definitely recommend this as a place for lunch in Nuneaton town centre and there are some great food deals to chose from.

Walking iinto Nuneaton with my husband we were hungry so decided to pop in the George Eliot for a drink and something to eat, it was not very busy so we ordered our food, we did nit want chips with any of the meals and asked for side salad instead, this was no bother at all and the barman even asked if my husband wanted extra fried egg on his gammon instead of pineapple, which I thought was very good. We were hungry and thought we would be waiting about 20-25 minutes, the food was being served to us within 12 minutes of ordering, it was lovely, nice fresh crisoy salad in the side perfect moist chicken and my husbands gammon was just how he asked for it, Overall a very nice cheap meal for 2 and a couple of beers for less than £17 and realky good service.

This pub has been open for years,the pub caters for food&drink;,pub has a nice feel to it,bar staff friendly,punters friendly upstairs downstairs for eating drinking,outside has a number of table chairs,kids are not allowed in after 7pm,caters for parties,nice relaxed pub

Went for dinner after morning walk ordered the roast chicken dinner, which was well cooked and really tasty. The chicken is a whole half served on vegetables with plenty of roast vegetables and potatoes. Also had the virgin moito that was refreshing, the price are very cheap for the quality of the food.

Had a meal at around 12pm, I had the southern fried chicken burger and found it very nice. We play card games at a table. The staff are very friendly and I feel the service is great. It can be a little noisy at times but that can be expected in a pub. One table upstairs has been vandalised and damaged so I would avoid that one as we nearly spilled drinks over someone

As a regular visitor to the George , Excellent food , good selection of drinks , quick service . The General Manager ( Maz ) goes out of his way to ensure every thing is fine.

Had a meal, with a family as the weather was very warm you would expect, it to be very busy with the weather but it was OK, very pleasent bar staff. Quick and helpfull, and smiley.Ordered Scampi but no lemon? No Tarta sauce too. Gammon looked Raw no steak knife the juice was swimming in my salad. My partners meal was cold was not expecting this, felt like the chefs could not care on this meal. I am disspointed its good value i understand that, but chefs put a little more heart and soul into your food even if it was a hots summers day.

Good place to be with your friends. A friendly atmosphere with great staff and quick service. Its also a great Sunday night out with karaoke. Highly recommend others to drop by.

My wife had the idea of having a meal out for the first time in a couple of months, so we called in to the George Eliot on Bridge Street. Jan had a cheese and onion toasty (she has a small appetite and her stoma doesn't help either), I had their Hunter chicken. Both plates were empty when they were cleared away; 'So what?' you might ask. Well, Jan very rarely clears her plate when we eat out, so with hers being cleared its a good sign. Neither of us now drink booze so we had our usual diet coke, but when I was on the booze I was a real ale drinker, and I never had a bad, or even a poor pint in there. Well worth a visit folks, go on, you know you want too ... ... ...

Good pub grub. From all the classics like burgers and fish and chips and also have vegetarian options.

George in Nuneaton is a excellent pub it caters for all ages, their are meals available on one side television for sport lovers in the main part and if you want a chat their is a big area upstairs. We have had meals for lunch and early evening both have been tasty serviced by polite staff. The entrance to the pub goes straight into the sports area could put customers off but don't be it is properly one of the only decent pubs left in the town area.

Visited The George Elliott this morning for breakfast. After waiting 30 minutes my husband enquired why we were still waiting, he was told won't be long we're rather busy. After waiting a further 15 minutes we asked for a refund, which was given without hesitation.

My husband, Granddaughter and I went for Lunch on Wednesday 21st December. It was delicious and very good price. The staff were also very friendly. Good service too. It was our second time. Will Definately go back when in Nuneaton again.

After waiting for an hour for food, we were told our "ticket" had gone missing, so the kitchen didn't know we'd ordered anything.Was reluctantly given our money back, with a very half hearted apology.No incentive to ever go back!

Amazing meats and drinks - they sure domeals fill you up! What's Amazing is that there is 2 floors to the restuarant and loads of choice with the food. Even childen can have adult meals as childrens portions AND vice versa! And its compact in a good way. With TVS and other stuff too!

What a great pub. Its like the tardis. So spacious and cool inside. The staff were great and although we didnt eat it was looked great

reading some of these reviews are a joke. I eat and drink in this pub nearly every day. I visit the pub twice a day and the service is great. I would like to say thank you to Jamie and James for their hard work and commitment to make sure the pub has stayed open while competitors have shut... If you want somewhere to watch the euros I will be in their already so hope to see you all...

We were visiting Nuneaton market and thought we'd try and find somewhere to have lunch. How delighted we were when we came across this lovely city centre pub with beautiful fresh flowers in the front. The pub looked beautiful in the sunshine.We ordered some drinks and food and sat down. The food arrived quickly and was piping hot. The menu had a great range of dishes to choose from too. I had the fish and chips which was lovely and tender with a good crispy batter on the fish.The staff were friendly and helpful and we had a lovely meal. We'd highly recommend this pub if you're ever in Nuneaton city centre and fancy a good meal.

Sad to see The George going downhill in recent months. It always has only minimal staff trying to deal with the bar , hot drinks and food plus of course clearing and cleaning tables. As I walk in I know there will either be one person or no one behind the bar so a wait is inevitable. There has been no settled manager in place for a long time and recently the traditional nibbles and even more traditional drinks such as stella artois have not been available. Needs to sort itself out pretty quickly or it won't survive ! George W

Glasses were really dirty. Changed 1, they'd ran out of small glasses so was given a point glass, and yet again NO CLEANER. Tables hadn't been cleaned, and staff were just standing round talking. Wouldn't eat in there if u paid me. Won't drink in there again either

The staff chatted behind the bar rather than cleaning off used tables. The floor was filthy. We ordered two meals, one was just acceptable the other was less than a childs portion of dried up pie with cold peas. How anybody can hope to stay in business when providing such shoddy service I dread to think. We will never be returning to this place whilst it is being run in this manner.

Out and about in early Spring, On a fresh cold Tuesday evening re-visiting Nuneaton and thought would look for somewhere for a early evening pub meal. Fancied a traditional pub meal. George Eliot fitted the bill perfect food wise at least, Glory days gone by since the days of George Eliot, This pub was actually mentioned In one of George Eliot's books "Scenes of Clerical Life" published Circa 1857 (Wow). It was called the Red Lion in the book. Decor needs freshening up but pleasant period features. The pub was quiet when I visited. Food was the main attraction as general housekeeping was not the priority which surprised me given it was not very busy. Ordered gammon and chips, well presented and cooked compliments to the chef, generous portions, so atmosphere quiet and charming, Decor in need of attention, food first class, although I would venture to suggest that pub atmosphere and food would suffer on a crowded Saturday afternoon. Will eat there again on a quiet day

Went for meal with daughter and grandson there all day breakfast was cremated mine was missing good so sent it back they had Eaton there's by time mine came back then it was all cold via the egg disgusting waste of £30 never again

Went for a lunch on Friday. The atmosphere was very calm and the music just at the right volume. The waiter was very helpful and the food was great for the price! highly recommend.

On my recent visit to coventry i had an opportunity to visit some friends in nuneaton.Whilst there we popped into the george eliot for a drink and a bite to eat.We were greeted warmly by the staff and i have to say we all enjoyed the experience. The food was hot and delicious and served promptly by staff who were very efficient and helpful.I must also mention that my companions were very complimentary about the quality of their beer.Looking forward to our next visit!
