We went for dinner, we had booked a table for 7pm. The car park was rammed but we eventually found a space and parked. We ordered a round of drinks then once seated at our table, we ordered 2 starters and 4 mains. 40 minutes later we asked where the starters were. They came 10 minutes later. We waited and waited and asked again where were our mains. We had ordered another round of drinks which came quite quickly, but alas no food. We asked again and were told 2 minutes. 20 minutes later still waiting. Asked zgsin. Told just dishing up. We had had enough by now as again they did not arrive. We made the decision to go and as we got up to leave 1hour and thirty minutes later, the girl brought them out. We were offered no apology and no explanation for the delay. Shame really because food was good when if eventually came. Won't go there again.

The food here is reasonably good but sadly, the service and customer experience is very poor. Table for 4 booked for 7pm and we arrived at 6.50 having struggled to get a space in the car park. Only two starters which arrived at 7.40 and the 4 mains were not brought out until just after 8.20. No explanation or apology were forthcoming and no attempt to compensate us for this ridiculous delay in serving dinner. We won't be back.

A return visit after a lapse of some months, If a place is bad I’ll rarely return , This visit I found the menu uninspiring, in the end I settled for the Beef Curry , which after a fair wait arrived, I assumed it was cooked fresh, there was little meat and the general taste was very salty and lacked spice. The choice of beers was limited and not particularly wonderful , Adnams Best, Sharpes Doombar , and a rather tasteless Greene King IPA, On the plus the staff were friendly and polite. My jury is still out, as to when I return, I’ve always liked the George n Dragon so I’m hoping it was just an off day .

A group of eight of us went for an evening meal. Confirmation of the table booking was very prompt and service was good and friendly, Some of the food was good but two of us had a roasted veggie dish and the vegetables were so rock-hard that they were inedible. The management were very sorry and allowed us money off the bill. The desserts were OK but not wonderful. The sponge pudding was rather solid, the sorbets were a little on the sharp and strong side and the ice-cream was not very creamy. We had a pleasant evening but some of the food was disappointing.

We went for a Christmas lunch here on 8th December 2018. There was a group of around 25 of us. We had all pre -booked at the Landlady's request. We all arrived in good time and sat down by 12.50 in time for lunch at 13.00. The staff were all kids and were the slowest I've ever seen anywhere. Bearing in mind everyone had been forced to order in advance, nothing was ready. I got my main course at 14.05. I was amazed at what I received! 3 tiny roast potatoes, 3 tiny slices of "turkey" which looked like it had been shaved off a Bernard Matthews processed joint, an inedible Yorkshire pudding, one small strip of parsnip, an extremely underdone pig in blanket, which desperately looked like it needed a spray tan, ONE carrot and the best of all, ONE sprout!!! Merry blooming Christmas! By the time I received this culinary delight, the lady next to me had finished her wet and sloppy offering of plaice. We then waited over half an hour and as all the waiting staff (or kids) had disappeared, we started clearing our own plates. I had to leave by 3pm as I had an appointment. I asked if I could have my pre-ordered dessert as soon as possible as I had to go. I waited for 15 minutes and no show. I had to leave then. As I left the dining area, one of the staff came out and said in an aggressive tone "don't you want your dessert now then?" I explained that I would very much like to have eaten it, but as they had taken so long to serve the meal, I had to leave without it as I had appointment. He then replied "well, some of your people didn't bother to turn up" ( one person was ill on the day, we are a Multiple Sclerosis group). I asked him what that had to do with them being so slow. He was unable to give me an answer. I then went to pay the massive fee of £20 for my one pathetic course. The person behind the bar seemed shocked when I told her what had happened (clearly she doesn't supervise closely the kids that work for her) and she told me that she had told them to serve slowly as it was a Christmas meal. She then told another complainant that she was 2 serving staff down, so I'm not sure now what the real story was. When I told her I had only had one course I was not offered a refund and paid for 2 courses as I just had to get out of there as I was running late for my appointment. I would never return to this establishment again.

I organised a surprise birthday meal for my mum here for around 30 people in the barn area to the rest of the main pub. Hailey the landlady could not have been more helpful in the build up, I don’t live locally and so a lot of the contact was via email but Hailey always got back to me quickly with any queries that I had. On the night all of the staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough to help even convincing my mum there wasn’t enough room in the bar for us to eat and taking her to the barn where her surprise and guests were waiting. The food was great and a really good night was had by everyone. Looking forward to going back the next time we are in the area

This pub sits on the side of the main road from Norwich to Lowestoft. At the time of my visit a section of the road was closed meaning there weren’t any toilets for a good 20-30 mins. Knowing this I stopped at the pub to use the restrooms. The bar man was then stood outside the toilets waiting for me to come out where he began following me to the door making harsh and unnecessary comments about my visit, despite those being the only toilets for miles. I found this exceptionally rude and out of order. This was a pub I often contemplated stopping at for its beer garden, but I definitely won’t be giving it a second glance now I know how rude the staff can be.

We were even more pleased to find they still do their homemade pie of the day, a particular favourite with my husband who when asked what he wanted to do for his birthday today only wanted to return here and have pie!! The staff moved tables to accommodate us, made us so welcome and then presented my husbands pie complete with birthday candle - such a special touch thank you!! We have driven past this pub on numerous occasions, but never been in. On this occasion we were looking for somewhere for lunch and this was a very good choice. The pub was very quiet, being a lunch time not long after Christmas. The staff were very welcoming, with the lady behind the bar asking if we would like the fire lit. We took a table right in front of the huge old fireplace which had a very realistic gas fire and once it was going the place was very cosy. The pub itself is a lovely old building with a lot of character. We both quickly chose the Pie of the Day from the specials board without even looking at the menu and we were not disappointed. Out of curiosity I did look at the menu whilst we were waiting and there seemed to be a good selection with several vegetarian options. We did not have a dessert, but again there was a good selection. There is a small car park at the back of the pub and a larger car park just over the road. We will certainly be back.

We have recently visited 4 of our "local" - the new "Water's Edge", The "Old Feathers", "Surlingham Ferry" and "George & Dragon" - looking for a decent venue for a once a month regular spot. We have to say, the "George" comes out tops. We have had a few meals there over the past few months and this time (Thursday 15th August) - the guy who served us was excellent. He was attentive, good fun and nothing was too much trouble - better than previous service. Firstly, the menu has excellent choice. There is something for everyone, which cannot be said of "Water's Edge". The vegetarian choice is excellent - I have now had several of these meals and they are all superb. Two of the guests had fish - one was absolutely massive BUT beautifully fresh and white and well cooked. One other guest had lasagne which was also good. Thank goodness for a pub who knows what a vegetable is - and doesn't just produce "peas"!! Lovely cauliflower, often parsnip, swede, broccoli, sugar snaps etc. Perhaps pudding has less choice - it would be good to have a crème Brule on the menu - but the toffee pavlova and chocolate fudge was excellent. Even more excellent was the wine. Smooth, purry and velvet - shown in the pictures! Even better was that the meal for 4 and two bottles of wine, plus other drinks was a realistic £60. This compared with £115 at "Water's Edge" (Woods End) for similar, not so well cooked meals and the "Old feathers" is somewhere in between. We shall be making the "George" our monthly venue. Quiet - no loud music, peaceful so one can actually talk and hear the conversation. Thank you George & Dragon

Having been to this inn previously, although not recently, we called in on our way home from Norwich on a Thursday evening. It all looked very clean and seemed to still have a good menu but where were the staff? There was another customer waiting by the bar, who seemed to have been there some time without being served. We waited for five minutes or so, then gave up and left. We met someone coming in and I told him that there was no one serving but he must have been a regular as he smiled and said, 'Oh, they'll be talking in a back room'. As we left the car park and drove past the pub, we could still see the two potential customers waiting to be served. I wonder how long they waited. If you don't have time to wait for your order, this is not the place to go to.

I hadn't been in the George for a good 15 years but had a meal with 2 mates a couple of Sundays ago. I must compliment the meal we all had. We didn't book but just dropped in for a look. The food was excellent and the staff were very pleasant. The food was plentiful and good value for money and we all left feeling rather full. Will certainly call back again another time.

We went to the George and Dragon on Sunday without booking and no problem a table was found for us. The roast lunch was good with plenty of beef. We decided that the apple crumble looked very appealing but they only had one left and there was four of us, who was going to go without? Well thanks to the lady in the kitchen no one had to go without at all. She said if you are prepared to wait I will make some fresh for you now. What an offer ! We said yes and the wait only about 25 minutes was well worth while it was very good indeed. Thanks to all the staff who made us very welcome and felt as if it was no trouble at all to do. Well worth a return visit especially for the crumble.

We loved the pub itself. Traditional, spotlessly clean and a nice atmosphere. Very helpful friendly staff. We wouldn't hesitate to stop off there again but only for a drink. My cottage pie was over microwaved (Where it touched the sides of the dish it was hard and burnt) and you know damn well your going to burn your mouth 'cause its super hot but you still try it and do so.My lovely lady ordered salmon and when it came it smelt fishy and normally fresh salmon does not smell. We think it was just on the turn and this was also over cooked. There were four business guys sat near us having lunch at the same time and one of them had a fishfinger sandwich. It looked great and we wished we had ordered that and had we done so we probably would have not ended up disappointed.

We found this pub by chance on route to Lowestoft. They advertise main courses each day for £4.99. The menu for this gave a great choice and we selected Cottage Pie and a Lasagne. The Cottage Pie was delicious and came with perfectly cooked vegetables. The Lasagne was equally good and was accompanied by a fresh generous helping of salad. The service was very friendly and the pub has a lovely old fashioned atmosphere with heavy oak beams.

Spur of the moment decision to visit - a quick phone to check they were serving that night - so pleased they were able to fit us in. There was a large party of 30+ guests due in and they suggested we get there as soon as we could so we could be served without delay. Food was lovely and service very good = good decision to try here. We'll definitely be returning.

My friend Les was paying a (literally) flying visit to nearby Seething Airfield to enable me to do an aerial photo shoot. I'd previously stopped for morning coffee at The George and Dragon on a classic car run, so it was the logical place for us to take lunch. We both had the Liver, Onion and Bacon Suet Pudding and were well satisfied by it. To follow we had the excellent home-made ice cream. Liquid refreshment was one of the Green Jack real ales on offer. Service by the landlady was efficient and pleasant. This pub has joined my list of good local places to revisit!

Have always popped into Goodies when in the area to pick up some farm food produce. They have a really good selection at very reasonable prices. So I would recommend the shop side highly. Not so much
