Great little pub, starters were ace - recommend the scotch egg, baked Brie, and risotto balls.

Traditional English village, food outstanding. Price about £13-18 per main course.

Fantastic welcome and service. Half lobster was terrific. Chocolate mousse dessert with home made honeycomb fabulous! Highly recommend this place. Bravo Bethersden Kent. A community pub that is really going for it!

We had a group of 14 us from Rye arrange Sunday lunch a couple of weeks ago through the treasurer Roger. What a gem of a pub! There was a lovely buzz when we arrived, the locals were so friendly and I have to say we weren't disappointed. The Sunday roast was fantastic. It was plentiful, high quality, and great value! A special shout out to Jim the chef, and all of the waiting staff who made the day just perfect for us. We have all said that we will be back very soon to enjoy the fayre on offer again.

Community pub with an unpretentious interior. Recommended by friends and worth the trip from Hawkhurst. Ample parking and exceptionally clean.

We had a very lovely lunch today, the food was superb and high quality a credit to Jim the chef. Staff were brilliant, friendly and helpful. We rate ourselves very lucky to have The George within walking distance. Thoroughly recommended.

This was my first visit to this community run and owned pub. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. The food was exquisite and is made using locally sourced ingredients. I don’t eat meat but had quite a choice from the menu. It is one of those places where you get food envy when other people’s selections arrive. Presentation is beautiful. They have a great wine list. We were all drinking different wines and all pleased. My tipple is Malbec… my eyebrows went up … a seriously nice glass of wine. I will definitely be returning

We visited the George yesterday for a quick evening meal. The restaurant was full of people and we soon realised why. The food was exceptional! To our amazement, we were treated to an amuse bouche, something one only gets in high-end restaurants. The menu looked exciting and the food we chose was delicious. The prices were really good too. The bustling atmosphere of the restaurant further attested to the Chef Jim's remarkable talent and culinary expertise. Needless to say, we left the George thoroughly delighted and already making plans for our next visit.

We had Sunday lunch there and thought it was one of the best roast dinners we've eaten in a long time. Service was excellent and we will certainly return

Enjoyed a Birthday celebration here yesterday evening. The Food was fantastic and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. It was a great atmosphere and ticked all the boxes. It was my first visit but it will not be the last! Well worth a visit and recommended.

Was lucky enough to experience a Sunday roast on the first day of The George opening back up again for meals. The atmosphere was comfortable and the service was very attentive and friendly. The meal was absolutely superb! Plenty of food, amazing quality and well priced for such high quality. Didn’t really have enough space pudding but couldn’t say no and was not disappointed. We are already looking forward to coming back for another visit. Thank you Team George for a lovely afternoon!

Lovey, local, community owned pub

Really good local community pub for the locals and visitors. Cannot rate the food personally as we have not eaten there but we hear good things from various sources. Great atmosphere.

A really nice pub to enjoy lunch, afternoon or evening with a beer. The ambience is wonderful and quiet. The service is very friendly. A visit is recommended for everyone.

Great what the village have done to create and keep this as a village asset. However they have no kids policy and it was like a play school when we visited for a quiet drink.

So loved this pub. Have done for 30 years. But….this is not a kindergarten!!! It is a pub. I do not want to sit there whilst kids run amok, screaming, playing hide and seek. No.

Just popped in to see what the pub is like now that it has re-opened. Am so glad we did. Was greeted by a friendly atmosphere, and found the decor to be nice, with a clean but ‘country’ feel to it. The two ladies serving were very welcoming, and seemed enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the impressive range of drinks on tap (was pleased to see normal Guinness on draught, rather than the inferior Extra Cold version). Will definitely be back soon to sample more of the drinks, and food when we have more time (I’ve awarded any stars for this, as we didn’t eat at the pub).

Went there for a quiz evening. Great people run the George. Please visit and support it. They currently don't do food, but will certainly be looking forward to that

Good good, good people. Just found out that the George at Bethersden will be closing down on 11th October 2020. Very sad to lose such agreat pub.

Only went there for a funeral wake, food was good and staff very helpful.

Currently declared a 9pm close on a Sunday, silly move as we now have to give trade elsewhere. DOH!

Proper British pub. Absolute gem

The George is as "Traditional" english country pub, a good selection of Beers and Ales at very reasonable prices. The Food is uncomplicated and well priced. The Pub also has a large and well sheltered garden. They also have two " Beer Festivals" a year in April and September which are well attended and great fun.

Great place to stop off when walking or cycling for quick beer didn't eat as was fully booked so food must be good big garden at rear think they have live music too

Lovely pub in a small village. Have been there for 3 meals so far and all have been excellent. The pub has some exceptional deals throughout the week, including a 2 for 1 meal. Very good service also.

Proper village pub with excellent range of real local ales kept really well. Great value especially the steak nights Tuesday and Thursday .

Atmosphere of a typical English village pub. Two separate bars. One includes a pool table and darts board with access to a spacious beer garden with plenty of seating. The smaller bar includes the restaurant serving excellent home made food with generous portions. A Free House with a wide range of beers. Steak night for £22 includes two steaks with all the trimmings plus a very acceptable bottle of wine. Great value.

Very good food done by a French chef he only uses fresh produce he asked why do they have a freezer! They have two log burners that add to the atmosphere bar staff and the owners are very friendly they serve real ales Sussex Harvey's is always on tap and have 3 other guest ales oh did I mention the food is very good ...

A warm welcome, good beer, nice atmosphere and food to die for... Lovely size beer garden with nice views and there's always something going on (live bands / beer festivals / fancy dress / karaoke etc). Oh and did I mention they cook a fantastic carvery!

Really old traditional rural kentish pub with a rather good selection of food.

unplanned visit: we had the carvery. Food was absolutely excellent, service was friendly and the children loved it too. I was impressed with the jug of coffee and my husband said the ice cream was something special. Quiet country pub. Good value for money.
