Good, freshly cooked food. Not overly expensive. This pub is more of a 'local' pub, with a fairly friendly atmosphere. Food order took a while, but it was cooked to order so hardly surprising.

We found this pub as a stop mid way on a long journey, so it was our first visit. There was a good choice of tap ales and other drinks. Our main purpose was lunch and the menu had a good selection of home made snacks and dinners. Two of our group had the steak and kidney pudding and said it was excellent, and they especially mentioned the mash that was creamy and lovely. Two of us had the fish finger baguette that was huge and also came with rustic fries. This was very nice and was too much for either of us to finish. Overall, this was a great find, far better than the services! The service was excellent, the lady behind the bar was friendly, chatty and couldn’t do enough for us. A great little pub for lunch.

Stumbled across this place looking for something to eat at 4pm, a tricky time. We got lucky, big time. It was a Thursday and that meant Thai-day at the generals. We had the duck tamarind and the green curry. Wow! I know it's a cliche but it was the best Thai food outside of Thailand. Have to go back and bring friends. Shame it's limited to Thursdays and Saturdays. Great selection of beers on tap too. Maybe the food on other days ain't so bad either?

A quaint, quirky establishment that embodied the "local pub" vibe. Inside there were several taxidermy features, vegans may not be keen, and friendly patrons sat at the bar making conversation with us and each other while drinking their drinks. Despite the crowd at the bar not needing to be served, the staff were quick to notice us though and we were never left waiting. They were serving Thai food while there, had the Pad Thai whilst my friends had small plates, the quantity to cost ratio was definitely in my favour as I spent less and left full, whilst they fought over the last spring roll. Would recommend giving the pub a go if you enjoy supporting local business.

Brilliant, this is an excellent pub with very helpful staff. We went there as a group of 8, popped the money behind the bar and sat back and relaxed. The pub is slightly off the beaten track but it is certainly worth a visit. General Havelock helped quell the Indian Mutiny, and he was a great hero in Victorian Times. Ryan served us and we were happy with the real ale, our service and we were delighted to be able to sit outside, where there was plenty of seating and a covered area as well. The main roast dinners were priced from £9.50 to £12. Chicken, Nut Roast, Pork, Beef and Lamb Shank in mint of a Red wine sauce. Extras were Cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire Puddings and Roast Potatoes. Children’s meals were priced at £4.75 for nuggets or fish fingers, or £5.50 for a roast. The pint or two of Seafarers Ale that I had, slid down a treat. We decided not eat a desert but the apple crumble and custard looked very good.

We had one beef, one chicken and one minted lamb shank (undoubtedly the star of the show). Very much enjoyed by all (including two small children), obviously home cooked, top quality, value for money and delicious.
