I had friends visiting and told them about this place so we decided to go for the roast before they went home, despite not having a booking the staff member found us a table and took our drinks order and then once ready took our food order, all the staff were very attentive and welcoming, the roasts were beautiful, great size portions, the meats were cooked perfectly, roasties were crispy and tasty, great size yorkie, lost count how many different types of veg was on the plate but definitely got my 5 a day in 1 sitting lol, my friend said her veg roast she had was banging, the puddings were also very yummy and finished the meal

i go on a Thursday evening when they have an open mike night good and varied musicians and styles food is good and good sized portions but, most of all, its a welcoming and friendly pub

Very friendly cosy pub in a beautiful waterside setting. Love that they support live music so much and are known for this. Excellent bands this weekend!

Always been one of my favourite pubs and the best in the Uxbridge area if you like an old fashioned pub serving good ales, decent food and a seat right by the canal side. Perfect outdoors on a summers day enjoying a pint of Landlord or Tribute and a chat with the canal boaters. Or indoors on a winter's eve with a stout and roast dinner with all the trimmings. Visited today to find Taylor's Landlord at only £3.50 a pint! On offer. Together with a cheese board and the relaxed and friendly staff, this pub NEVER disappoints. Cheers!

I’m an extremely hard person to please but this place did it in spades. Staying in the local hotel and needed some lunch and this place is the closest. But OMG the food was amazing. I had a chicken and bacon salad. Basic you say. Not the way they make a salad. Succulent chicken bacon just the right crispy level, super soft bread roll and every extra you can think on the salad. Just amazing. I will be back.

Great open mic night on Wednesdays.

Recent: they often have bread and cheese you can help yourself to. It really takes the edge of if youre drinking in the afternoon! Good, traditional pub with sensibly priced food. I'd go again. Here I am again! Excellent home cooked food, I was very impressed with their gravy...and you can have as much as you like. Not some tiny ornate jug which hardly wets your plate. ...and again!

Food and service is sensational and when the weather is nice their outside seating can't be beaten.

Nice traditional pub with a great beer garden overlooking the canal. There were a decent amount of beers on tap and the free cheese and crackers at the bar was a nice touch.

Decided to eat out and have Salmon with potatoes, salad and coleslaw which was absolutely devine and would highly recommend. Nice and friendly atmosphere and will recommend to colleagues and clients if in the area.

Quiet pub right on the canal, food was good and reasonable price.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon after a walk along the towpath. Beer 🍻 and wine nice and cold. Sat outside in the beer garden which was lovely as it was in the shade rather than the sun. Food was plentiful and tasty. Service was excellent too. Thanks for hospitality.

Can't complain the food was lovely, was nice day to sit outside and eat the service was fast and all freshly made which everyone enjoyed, my only issue was asked for a high chair for the baby and they were filthy food stuck all over and was reluctant to use for my 8 month old, could do with getting new and easier to keep clean ones. Also the kids little play area could do with a little clean and maybe revamp.

Easily walkable from Uxbridge Town Centre, with sitting areas inside and also outside alongside the Harefield - West Drayton stretch of Grand Union Canal. The pub has a small car park but otherwise parking on street in the immediate surrounding area before 6 PM can be problematic. Reasonably priced but limited selection of beers. Excellent home-cooked 'traditional' British food .. not your 'typical pub offer'. Run by the family from 'on the premises' A 'comfortable' place to meet up with colleagues and friends. Decor slightly dated but a seemingly genuine community based atmosphere and ambience. Music events usually Thursdays .. and often Fridays too and with vibrant and well attended live rock and blues music on Saturdays. Would I patronise again ? .. Yes !

Amazing Sunday roast setting outside watching the boats on canal.

A lovely little pub that saved us after walking 9 miles along the London loop. Great atmosphere and service. They had live music planned for the evening, but we had to return home.

I went there for my surprise leaving party.

A lovely pub by the canal but the last two visits the beer has been terrible to the point last time it wasn't even drinkable. The pub doesn't seem to be cleaning it's lines as regularly as it should and the beer is suffering. Update to pubs comment : The Neck oil was truly rank last week, contaminated and undrinkable, something is going wrong if you are cleaning your lines regularly and the beer still tastes like that.

So we visited the general Elliot on Sunday and made the mistake of not booking a table. As a result although we were made more than welcome we had to wait over an hour for our food. Now to be absolutely fair we was told when we ordered so it wasn’t surprise in any shape or form. The way they work is if you book a table your order goes to the top of the queue so BOOK BOOK BOOK in advance. There is a lovely touch of cheese and biscuits on the bar for free which was lush and overall the dinner was lovely. I have seen bigger yorkies but the meat was lovely and everything was cooked nice. It’s a lovely pub and look forward to revisit shortly. PS the prices for food are more than responsible so a great value meal as well.

For pub grub it's not gastro but right up there I would recommend love a care is put in to the food

Sometimes you just don’t want the whole world to know about a place … The General Eliott pub is one of those. This pub is a real diamond… I absolutely love it ! It’s situated along side the canal in Uxbridge surrounded by bohemian canal boats and a devoted clientele. The food is Amazing especially the Sunday dinner all home made and tastes just as your mum made it but you may have to book in advance as the locals know when they are on to a good thing, the staff are lovely especially the landlady who is an honest soul. The beer garden looks onto the river and is soooo relaxing with a small play area to keep those pesky kids entertained. It’s also very dog friendly so bring those fur babies along I’m tempted to tell you all to keep this place a secret. but I just can’t, some secrets have to be shared ENJOY Toodle Pip

Lovely staff and great view of the canal Guinness is great food is great. Couldn’t ask for more. Good location. Across from the hotel which makes it better if visiting!

Stopping at the premier inn opposite...to be told in the beefeater that the restaurant was shut even though it was only 7.30pm... fortunately for us 2 weary travellers just back from a New Zealand holiday, absolutely knackered we called to be informed that food service finished at 7pm...but cometh the hour cometh the landlady who struck up the oven and served us 2 fantastic lamb Sunday dinners... we're are eternally grateful 👏🏻👏🏻♥️ Big shout out to the guy serving too.... lovely people.. I've been going there for many years and never did a review....I started to have guilt feelings as to why ...well I just couldn't let it go any longer... the pub is well kept clean and has a very warm inviting feeling beautifully situated outdoor garden along the canal..I slways eat there and have to say their food is on par with top starring hotels...their friendliness is warm and inviting and they certainly value their customers...its an independent pub run by a very caring family headed by Sue...children and dogs are welcome .and they have some serious live entertainment and fun karaoke nights on Fridays...Clive is the karaoke fun entertainment man ...go on give it a try... but be warned you won't want to go elsewhere...its been my pleasure to share this with anyone reading this...my thanks to Everyone at the General Elliot Pub.🍾🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🎤🫶

I travel down from Chester and use the hotel opposite to sleep but I always use this pub. The staff, food and regulars are always very welcoming and very enjoyable. Thank you and I'll be back again soon

Nice comfy pub, right on the Grand Union Canal. Open mic nights are entertaining and I am glad I went. The staff are an attentive and the other "punters" are an interesting, friendly, bunch. Inside or canal side the service is great. It was a great pub for a summer evening. We still enjoy our visits to "The General", even in the winter! Dinners and Sunday lunch cannot be beaten for quality or price, great value.

Went to see Paul Michaels and a meal . Very good pub meal , but better still the entertainer. Very good night out . If you like around singers this is the man to see, 🤓

The four of us went for a canal walk along Grand Union Canal on 27th January 2024. We ended up having lunch at The General Eliott pub next to the canal. A very kind boat owner had suggested that we might wish to try The General Eliott, we decided we would. Not disappointed at all. It got more and more busy. Obviously a popular venue.

Piping-hot sausage and mash, with a generous supply of veg - perfect for a cold day! And great that I could bring my dog too. All much enjoyed - including the pint of Tribute! Highly recommended!

Can honestly say that my Ribeye steak was one of the best I've ever had. Compliments to the chef. Staff were really friendly and efficient. Despite it being a busy Saturday night they were attentive and really couldn't have asked for better service. Will definitely be back.... thank you

It's a decent pub for a post work pint. It's a deceptively pretty location. From the front just a boozer on a road. The back though, little tranquil spot of times from old. A worthy stop for boaters

This is a great pub on the outskirts of Uxbridge but still a short walk from the town centre. Good choice of beer with three real ales and really tasty and good value food. Ideally placed for the nearby Premier Inn. A canal side setting and a pleasant garden. The side pocket for a toad from Tring brewery was wonderful.

Food and service was excellent. Paid the bill 10% service charge is added to the bill there is no mention of this on the bill, I then gave them my blue light card so 15% should have been taken off. I paid my bill total of £93.00. When I got home I worked my bill out to be £83.60 for the food so if you add the service charge of 10% that is £8.36 so my bill should have been £91.96 less 15% which was never taken off so on that principle I will never be returning.

Such good food and great value! Family of 4 and we enjoyed a nice meal here yesterday and it’s got a great vibe about the place. Good little kids area aswell

What a great pub! Difficult to find a nice pub in Uxbridge, this one is a must visit. Home cooked pub food to a great standard, an extensive canalside seating area, Pleasant/ attentive staff and to top it all off, live music!!! We visited (staying in premier inn under a minute's walk away) on a Thursday for work. There was a house band who played a few great songs but the 'open mic night' on Thursdays was fantastic. If you're staying in the Prem Inn or anywhere in Uxbridge, forget the boring beefeater or any old chain pub/restaurant.....make your way here and you won't be disappointed. Will be going back next week for sure!!!

Good pub by the side of the Grand Union Canal (and the London Loop) about 10 minutes walk from Uxbridge Station. Three cask beers on handpump when I visited. Lots of canalside seating some of it covered. A lovely spot to watch red kites circling overhead! Ironically, the pub is named after the teetotaller who defended Gibraltar from the Spanish in the late 18th century.

A friendly and picturesque pub and resteraunt on the path of the Grand Union Canal offering hot and cold snacks with a selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. From a personal perspective, I had the best chips ever here and a perfect summer watering hole.

It has a good atmosphere and they do a really nice food especially the Sunday roast. It sells out very fast so it is best to book ahead of time especially if your are more than a few of you to eat as table space is at a premium lol. Very busy pub at the weekend and any time the sun is out.
