The Gathering in Stockport

I booked The Gathering for breakfast prior to taking my family back to the airport. We were there early and the place was empty. We ordered 2 breakfast, cheese on toast, bacon and egg on toast. Two Americano and a green tea. The hot drinks came first. One with hot milk one black as my brother is dairy intolerant. The coffee looked and tasted disgusting. My brothers looked like they had forgotten he was dairy intolerant and dropped a splash of milk in but served it anyway. It was not a clear black coffee, it was cloudy. The server spilt my Sister-in-laws green tea over her and the floor. Proceeded to say oh sorry and cleaned it up off the floor, didn’t ask if she was ok or offer anything to clean it off her boots or trousers. When the breakfast came I asked the server to take the coffees away as they were disgusting which she did and once again her response was oh sorry in such an in genuine way but they were taken off the bill. The bacon on all the breakfast orders was disgusting. It looked like it had been cooked before, left, then reheated. This is not acceptable when the cafe has just opened. It should be fresh. You could snap it in two or break your teeth on it trying to eat it! On a previous visit I had ordered cheese on toast which i couldn’t eat it all. I asked the server if they did a child’s portion and she said yes you could order a smaller size, ie one slice instead of two and just pay half the price. Fast forward to this visit. The server looked at me like I had two heads when I asked for half a portion, then proceeded to charge me full price. £6 for one slice of cheese on toast! I didn’t realise until after my brother had paid the bill. We have visited The Gathering on quite a few occasions and have generally enjoyed it. The past 3/4 visits have not been great experience regarding the food but we keep giving it the benefit of the doubt. After this visit we won’t be visiting again. It was embarrassing. We found the server to be insincere, the food below par and overpriced. We got a better coffee next door for £1 from Wetherspoons. Generally the staff here are lovely and the surroundings are pleasant to sit in but for us it’s all style over substance. Ruben’s will be our coffee stop from now on.

We went for lunch over Christmas with our little dog, had 2sandwiches and bread and butter puddings with custard - they were great. Even the dog had a sausage 👍👍 V nice with good service

Excellent winter stew off the specials manure. Been few times usually on a Wednesday .Plenty of choice in a nice atmosphere served by excellent staff. Well worth a visit.

Amazing food and lovely staff, been here a few times now for breakfast and lunch, never been disappointed! Couldn’t recommend more.

The food is amazing, the hot chocolate is one of the best things I've ever tasted and the service is spot on. It's not just my favourite cafe in Mold but my favourite cafe anywhere.

Absolutely delicious food, generous portions, really fast service.. all 4 of us enjoyed it.. Great Vegetarian choice. Nice touch to have free water at the food/payment bar.

Return visit to the Gathering today following an excellent lunch a couple of weeks ago. Location ideal with ample parking nearby. Food tasty and served by pleasant staff. Food portions very good and the coffee is excellent. Pleasant experience worth a try if you are in Mold. We will return.

Stopped for a quick breakfast sandwich. Lovely staff. Lovely food. Great coffee. Good prices. Will definitely be visiting again.

I go to this cafe as often as I dare with my friend Mabel. The staff are cheerful,efficient and kind. The food is amazing! My husband thinks that the breakfast baps are fantastic and I agree but the halloumi toasted sandwich is my favourite. I can not fault it in any way. It is always the same absolutely delicious and I've even been known to have it as a takeout so I can make it last and last. Thank you for being in Mold.

Great find passing thru Mold. Friendly welcome and excellent service. V tasty soup and the sandwiches were obviously freshly made as the salad had clearly just been cut. Sadly will probably not call again but hope lots of other people do.
