Popped in on my way home, what a lovely greeting from the team, served very quickly smiles all round from the team. Food that was passing me looked lovely will be coming back for food.

Staff are ever so friendly and nice. And food great, you can find something for everyone. Our family thinks that this is the best place to eat in King's Lynn!

I'm kinda biased as this is my local watering hole, being only 10 minutes walk from my home or 20 from work I'm in here pretty often and love it. The staff are always friendly and happy. Food is chain pub fare so don't expect Gordon Ramsey stuff, tasty and filling. After a hard day it's a great place to just chill with a beer or 3. They used to have guest ales way back in the day, not many just one or two but I found a liking to all of them. I will admit it is looking a little tired decor wise but when your in such a position with a hotel next door and the commuters etc coming and going, closing for a refurb would be a big hit in the pocket. And yes the gents facilities are pretty beaten up. Sorry. For me it's a nearly perfect place to just unwind or have a warm up with pals. Beer's cold, food is hot. Nothing complicated or posh (I'm not posh, working class and very happy being so). I love the place. I wouldn't go there so often if it was garbage. Could do with a facelift but can't fault the staff for being so helpful and damned cheerful. Mmm, full belly and just a buzz from the beers.... very happy. Cheers Ryler

Everyone was great and so friendly can't wait to go back again. Everyone gave me a smile and was a great help. Louise and Lara were fantastic and was a massive help and Charlie was fantastic. Definitely coming back

Regularly visit for breakfast and easy to park, good food, great price, staff always accommodating. The toilets always smell fresh and have a cleaning rota visible. High standards for sure.

Food served on cold plates. Chips luke warm and onion rings. The Korean BBQ chicken was hot and very tasty. My wife's chips were also only warm as we're here rings.

Popped in after a weekend camping, nice to have a proper cooked meal. Reasonably priced (although we have family and friends discount with Greene king) Would definitely eat here again

Absolutely rubbish the lasagne is over cooked chewey for some reason it was brown and tater vile, 34 degrees and no ice but selectively giving it to there mates

Had a family meal Friday night, lovely place. Food lovely, fast too. Staff brilliant, very friendly. Kayla served us with a big smile. Recommended this place for a pleasant fair priced meal.

all i can say is i can see why the horse is hungry. to begin with we ordered diet cokes and coke zeros, the coke zero came without any syrup. we ordered 4 meals - 3x mixed grills and a roast dinner. i can appreciate the price however, 2 of the mixed grills come without steak the waiter who i assume to be a manager tried to state it was our fault he was then proved wrong and there was no apology what’s so ever. i will insert a video of the stuffing ball (if you can even call it that) i was served, i stated that to the waiter and his response was “that’s like a weapon”. roast dinner was okay, but similar to what you would be served at a school canteen. would rather save me £30 and eat at home

Food is good!! But I had the steak and Ale pie with chips! And the portion of chips was that small I could have counted them!! In fact we had a child with us who had a children's meal and even he had more than me!!

Great place with a good atmosphere. We went there for a family lunch and we were pleasantly surprised by the food and the drinks. Would definitely recommend. We had a lovely service by Josh. He was very kind and helpful. We will be back soon.

Food was great, steak cooked to perfection. Once dinner was served, we never saw anyone again, as extremely busy, gkad I booked.Unfortunately a dish that I ordered never arrived, but, my refund has been paid back already. Whenever we are in Kings Lynn, this, will be our eating house.

We will definitely be back. Super quick service by Charlie who was pleasant and very attentive. Bar staff great. Shout out to the Chefs Matthew and Graham Step up from other Hungry Horse pubs we have visited in the past Very clean.

The till didn't have their Feed The Family meal deal advertised on their website, possibly following a recent till update. The staff as well as the manager were extremely patient and kind and sorted the issue out for us. Excellent customer service, good table service too. Visited on a Friday lunchtime, laid back pleasing ambiance. Great value food.

The food was absolutely delicious and our steaks was done to perfection ... My husband had the mixed grill and everything was cooked as it should of been ... The person who was on grill last night did an amazing job.

Just nipped in to the Gatehouse with my elderly mother & we treated ourselves to a peppered steak. Value 4 Money & our steak was cooked perfectly. ( Thank you Chef ) Staff very attentive. & helpful hope to visit again soon.

It was a stop on the way to our holiday destination, very welcoming, staff friendly, not too busy so that you couldn't get served but plenty of folks enjoying themselves. Had a nice meal, plenty of it and a cheesecake to top it off, thanks to the staff that were there clearing tables and serving, and obviously the kitchen staff.

I made two visits in May to grab a hassle free evening meal. On both occasions I opted for the Mac n Cheese with salt and pepper fries which did the job. You can reserve a table or take pot luck as I did. Place your order at the bar or use the app and wait for your meal to arrive. On my first visit they struggled to bring my fries with my meal, but they eventually landed. On my second visit I couldn't have a hot drink as that machine had broken, I was also advised that a jar of coffee or box of tea bags and a kettle was not deemed an appropriate alternative which was very disappointing. My second visit was also marred by a very drunk former staff member telling the younger lad behind the bar how to do his job. He dealt with this in a very polite and pleasant manner. The facilities available were clean, there were a  lack of locking doors and toilet paper for individual cubicles, with options for baby changing and a disabled toilet. The Gatehouse has it's own car park and there are bus stops within walking distance. The location just off the Southgate Roundabout means you don't need to go into town, but at busy times of day, you are likely to get caught in the town's traffic jams.

Came tonight for a date night Food was greatish I ordered a lemonade and coke The lemonade had a hair in And the coke was flat When went to bar for refund due ti 2 drinks being bad they tried ti argue with me Second lemonade was flat But couldn't be bothered to complain about it due to the fact off the first response Wouldn't recommend to anyone ain't the first bad experience either

We were served by Heidi who was not only accommodating to my numerous requests to customise my breakfast, but was also extremely friendly, funny, and very genuine. Lovely to be served by someone who took the time to connect with us and made our little breakfast trip thoroughly enjoyable.

Roast beef with horseradish. Didn't get any horseradish even though the server said she was going to get it and the meat was very tough. Potatoes burned I wouldn't even feed it to a dog. Terrible customer service. Server took my plate and could clearly see it wasn't eaten and said nothing.

Really great service from Heidi, a friendly welcome on a Sunday morning! She catered for our requests/changes to our breakfast - everything came out quickly and as requested. Heidi went the extra mile to make sure us and other customers were looked after, thank you!

Nice meal, excellent value for money . We all ordered different food and it was all lovely. The staff made special effort with my little Grandson who really enjoyed his ice cream with lots of sweets. . Staff were all so friendly, efficient and polite. Louise, Lara, Richard and Tim.

Busy place, tables were grubby, food okay but nothing to write home about. Can't understand why they don't do sauce unless it's brown red or mayo 🤷‍♂️

Chips Dissapointingly raw | Drinks full to the Brim with ice Went out for food and drinks with my family, the experience was okay, it kind of is what it wants to be, it's a reasonable meal out for all the family but the food is mediocre but comes out very quick with a lot of dinging coming from the kitchen. The place is now looking a bit tiered from when it first opened quite a few years back now. Could do with a spruce up and a lick of paint. The exterior and outside play area really does need some emergency attention before someone gets hurt or a child gets run over. The play area is dangerous with loose parts and sides, the gates that lead to the busy car park are broken so very dangerous, flower beds overgrown, outside area messy, untidy and unkept, it's a grateful shame as its a family venue but dangerous. The food was well presented and tasted as it should. Portions have shrunk a bit from the good old days of the Hungry Horse Chips were borderline raw, so we sent them back. The second batch was piping hot and crispy There are tv's at some of the tables, which is a nice touch for the kids when they work. The service was okay, staff were polite and helpful, it's not waited service you go upto the bar to order food and drinks, tabs can be set up and the food Comes out by a server. The place is kept tidy as far as I could see. It had a clear divide from the restaurant and Bar|Pub area, which is a really good idea. Seams like a good pub to go to for watching the sport.

Quite a regular in this pub as I just can’t help returning since the food and staff are always perfect! Management has changed and I must say for the better. This place is so much cleaner, running smoother and overall a lot better than it used to be, everyone is a credit to the team. Thank you to everyone whom works at this establishment, you’re all very professional and your company should be proud of you all.

Myself and other potential customers turned away tonight before 7.45 by the large gentleman manager. No explanation, no apology. Needs addressing Hungry Horse because your website page CLEARLY states food served until 9.00 pm !!!

First time visiting. First and only drink was in a dirty glass with lipstick on the rim. Cutlery is also dirty. Staff were apologetic but it's not enough to make me or my girlfriend want to come back.

Waitress behind the bar openly discriminating towards me and being overtly hateful and started quoting she knew me from 16 years ago. Very rude and embaressing, ruined my sons birthday breakfast. When her manager told her to apologise she simply left. Whilst another waitress was very pleasant she tried to make things better. The whole experience was wholey inappropriate and unnecessary. Aprently I offended her 15 years ago, not that I can even remember her face let alone anything else, nonetheless really shouldn't have impacted our service. Sad it's sat with her for so long. Will not be returning to be insulted. Loss of a regular customer

We had a good few meals here, always promptly served, hot, and great quality food. There was always a lot of customers in, a good sign. Hotel next door, massive car park, very friendly and helpful staff. If ever we are back, we will definitely be returning.

Food not as good as it was last time we visited. Portions are smaller & add-ons expensive. The salmon was nicely cooked but it was a smaller size than previously. The corn on the cob was about 2½" long & was mushy. The sweet potato fries are nice. Tables were clean but needed a proper wash as they were very tacky from just being sprayed & given a cursory wipe. Glasses & cutlery could have been cleaner. Music can be too loud but there are tables away from the speakers & TVs.

Awful place. So unorganised . We turned up and was told just to find somewhere to sit. Crammed in to a small booth. Ordered a bacon cheeseburger and upgraded to salt and pepper chips for 50p. Granted it's only 50p but if your asking for salt and pepper chips that's what you expect. Not ordinary chips with a sprinkling of what I was later told by the waitress a special seasoning. Pathetic.

Waited probably 45 minutes for our meal. Told it was coming then it didn’t was given a bowl of cold chips. Meal came kids meal was cold fish and chips was cold and over cooked. Ice cream for dessert was like ice particles couldn’t eat it. Won’t be going back again anytime soon.

A very enjoyable evening at this fine establishment jaden who served us was fantastic great customer service skills backed up.with ridiculous good looks this young man is destined for.great things.Pity that.the manager Jordan is constantly looking over his shoulder. The waitress Sam was also great 10 out 10 I will definitely be calling at this place again. Well done team .

This is our first visit to the gate going kings lynn and I must say we will be definitely coming back. We was greeted with warm energetic lady called Kathryn who was bubbly and could not do enough for us. The food was good the service excellent and we enjoyed a few hours there before we went to our holiday home. A big thank you to Kathryn and all the staff at the gate house.

Such a shame today, had to wait over two hours for our food, when it arrived two meals were undercooked, I understand there may have been staffing issues but if staff were honest we would have waited and just had another drink. Staff offered a free dessert which we accepted, a staff member returned 45mins later and said it was one dessert between 4 of us. Won't be back

This place used to be amazing. Tonight we’ve had the syrup run low on the Coke Zero, we were then topped up with normal coke and the man, who’s last shift it was, just told me Coca-Cola sort out the ratio. Yes sir but if it’s run out …. It’s gunna be too weak. Anyway they swapped it to Fanta. They outdid themselves on the food. It was both overcooked AND COLD! How do you burn something and keep it cold?!? skills! I’ve also never had a drier potato! I’m not usually a 1* reviewer but save your money
