The Gate Inn - Branston in Melton

Recently moved to the area and can’t praise the staff enough, Reasonably priced drinks, and whenever we’ve asked to watch a particular sport , they’ve put it on for us.

Not having visited The Gate since before the pandemic, I was delighted to discover that its standards of cuisine and service have remained high, under new ownership. Our meals were all tasty and well-presented, and also offered first class value for money. Highly recommended.

Excellent food and SO much of it! The beef melts in the mouth, delicious. Six types of vegetables, roast and new potatoes, parsnips and Yorkshire pudding, all home cooked meat and not to mention the choice of puddings! 🤤

Fantastic Sunday lunch with friends. Excellent portions of beautifully cooked meat with lots of tasty vegetables. Very good value for money.

We attended a family birthday party and this is a little gem of a pub hidden away down a quiet residential road in Branston Great servicecand good selection of drinks

This pub is a well kept secret in the area. High quality food in good surroundings at a very fair price made it fantastic value. Staff very friendly and a wide range of food available. At this price - unbeatable..!

We called for a couple of drinks only, they do do food but we had already eaten. Good beers and cheap prices, a good selection of Gins too. Staff were friendly as were the local customers.

We visited for the first time having seen good reviews and live locally.An excellent lunch and very speedy (c 15 mins) service despite being just behind 10 office workers who had just ordered.Pizzas were very fresh and tasty; needed a doggy bag.Will definitely return.

I enjoyed a superb seasonal meal here today with two colleagues; service was prompt, friendly and efficient, and the food was well presented, delicious and excellent value. I can unreservedly recommend the Gate Inn for a meal. If travelling along the A38 in Staffordshire, it is 2 minutes drive from the Burton south junction and would be an ideal meal stop;all the 6 Little Chefs that existed along this section of the A38 have now closed.

Tuvimos el almuerzo de domingo como parte de una fiesta de cumpleaños. La comida tardó mucho tiempo en llegar. Elegí el jamón con salsa de ciruela, mientras que otros en nuestra mesa había pastel de carne con cerveza. El jamón estaba cruda, así que empezamos a comer sólo los vegetales y patatas. Cuando señaló a la camarera el jamón cruda, ella tomó mi plato a la cocina y volvió con una rebanada de jamón en un plato limpio. El jamón estaba muy fría, pero no las camareras culpa. Supongo que no me gusta la gente chef criticando su comida. El pastel de carne con cerveza no era tan buena. La mejor parte de la comida era el pudding. El área exterior es realmente grande, pero no zona de juegos para niños y el césped estaba muy mal cuidados. En general no es una buena experiencia. Este lugar está bien para adultos pero no vayas si tienes niños

Reunión de dos amigos para el almuerzo fuimos calurosamente recibidos por el dueño del lugar, y pronto compró nuestras bebidas, y elegimos nuestro plato principal del extenso menú. Elegí el jamón horneados y huevo, patatas fritas y verduras acompañado por todos, estaban deliciosos. Para el postre elegí un Banana Split, con un sabroso plátano y helado.El lugar es muy popular entre los lugareños, y también sería una parada ideal para viajeros en la comida un 38; dejar en el cruce burton sur y siga las indicaciones hacia la calle principal, el lugar es Branston; al final de la carretera, a menos de 5 minutos del cruce. . Con la desaparición de los varios restaurantes "Little Chef" que antiguamente servía de esta parte de la A38, la puerta es una excelente alternativa.

Amazing place , service was a 5 star , food was hot nobody at to wait, my wedding organizer was amazing Karen , nothing was to much trouble, the room was amazing everybody was blown away by the way it looked.Staff were lovely , friendly , helpful, polite.The grounds were nice for photographs, The wedding all went to plan and so smooth .Bridal suit was amazing , won' t one of those beds please, ha. Breakfast was served once again lovely, so much choice .hum.Would do it all again if I could , definitely recommend to anybody .THANKYOU To Karen / Paul and team .Your a amazing .

The Gate has a very good menu with plenty of choice. It's a bit off the beaten track, but worth seeking out. Good quality food, hot and fresh, and good prices. I would advise booking, especially on Sundays, as you may not get in.

Esposa visitaron hoy como miembro de un grupo de mujeres. Cuando llegaron fueron recibidos por una esponja benzedrine adder hostiles que creo que es el dueño/dueña. No sólo un saludo de bienvenida o como "Fawlty te reservado" (14) tenían para, a pesar del hecho de que el pub estaba casi vacío. Fue (aparentemente) un problema grave que 15 mujeres había convertido no los 14 que habían reservado y la esponja adder dijo que sería un problema que sirven todos ellos juntos - ¿por qué tomar la reserva entonces?

Nuestro grupo de 20 h en 1230 llegó por un miércoles a mediodía, después de haber reservado nuestras opciones de nuestro extenso menú, un plato principal y un postre por sólo £5 por persona. Nos quedamos pronto disfruta de nuestras comidas, que eran sabrosos y bien presentado. El postre opciones eran pronto se hicieron, y servido con prontitud, y nos quedamos pronto de vuelta a nuestra oficina. Muchos de los comensales nunca habíamos visitado la Gate Inn en Branston antes, y en general nos quedamos impresionados con la comida, servicio y sobre todo, la excelente relación calidad-precio que nos ofrecieron.

Very impressed with the friendly staff and the prompt ordering and delivery of meal and as we were a group of 28 even more impressive plus the cost of £5 for two courses from a good varied menu. well worth a visit.

Lovely home-cooked food at reasonable prices. We had a meaty homemade steak and ale pie with chips. Would definitely return.

I have visited this restaurant on numerous occasions and each time the service has been very good, the food has been great in addition to it being very good value for money. There is a wide range of choice of home made mains and pudding and quite often they will have a special boards as well! They cater for vegetarians (there is usually more than one veg option) as well as meat eaters. The restaurant offers great value for money (£5 for 2 courses at lunch £10 for 2 courses evening meal) and it's all freshly prepared home cooked.

A pre-booked table was available for myself and 2 colleagues at 1215hrs, and we were warmly welcomed on arrival. We sat on a 3 piece suite near the bar whilst looking through the menu, and ordered and received our drinks. A wide choice of main courses was available; I chose the Gate burger, which was served with first class home-cut chips and salad. My colleagues had other items, and we all agreed on their high quality. A choice of sweets on a small blackboard was brought to our table; I chose the banoffee pie and ice cream.The waitress who served our meal was friendly and enthusiastic, as were the other staff I met, including the landlord.Overall, the meal represents first class value, and can be recommended without reservation. If you are a motorist travelling along the nearby A38, leave at the Burton South/Branston exit, and drive for 3 minutes to reach the Gate; an ideal venue for a lunch, or indeed an evening meal, (see my earlier review).

Arriving at 1915hrs for dinner, I was warmly welcomed and invited to look at the menu. I decided on the meal and dessert for £9.99. I chose a Gate classic burger plus chips and salad, followed by a chocolate fudge cake plus ice cream. My preferred Glitterberry J2O was not available, so I chose orange cordial.The meal was served promptly by a friendly and enthusiastic waitress, and was delicious, as was the dessert. I can certainly recommend the Gate Inn, and shall visit again when I require an evening meal in the Burton upon Trent area. The Gate Inn is also about 2 minutes drive from the Burton South junction on the A38, so it is an ideal refreshment stop for travellers on this busy route.The "review" from a visitor who did not want to be the first customer in the place should not deter anyone from experiencing the high standards of this venue.

We visited on a lunch time so had the lunch time menu.The food was really nice and plenty of it was good value.... meal and pudding for £5.The staff were very nice and friendly. Well worth a visit.
