This is a pretty, country pub, with what looks like a good menu. We arrived for lunch on a Saturday, having booked in advance. The pub was half employ, but it took about forty-five minutes for our meal to arrive. The main courses were good and as described. The puddings, however, were very disappointing. The Eton mess contained just one strawberry - in June, when strawberries are plentiful! The sticky toffee pudding had been over-microwaved and was chewy and hard in places. The only coffee on offer was instant, which we declined. Worst of all, the place was teeming with flies. I spent a lot of time opening the window and shoo-ing them out, but they kept returning. Overall, it was an uncomfortable and disappointing experience. We did not complain at the time, as they waitresses were friendly and the problems were not their fault.

Just camped here for a couple of nights with friends. Everything about the place was really good. The landlord Pete was really friendly and helpful as were all the other staff. Had dinner on the first night and the food was great, really well presented, served quickly and a good size. The camping is basic but for a couple of nights you don't need anything more. Lovely old pub with immaculate beer garden. Other villages and pubs within walking distance for a change of scenery.

Absolutely amazing food and couldn’t recommend a visit enough. We stayed as a group of 20 with younger and older kids in the campsite and had dinner in the restaurant on the 2nd day. Everyone said how good the food was and a special shout out to the peas that came with the fish and chips 🙌🏻! Even catered to my gluten free needs and did it very well. Thanks for having us and accommodating our large group order.

Wasn't planning on coming here originally. But, due to the atrocious weather that was on its way over Devon, I decided to come here for three nights. I arrived on Tuesday. I was touring on my motorbike and had my camping gear with me. £5 a night without electric. Wow. Of course I had to eat in the pub. The food was freshly cooked. The batter on the fish was out of this world. The cider was pretty good too. There is one shower room for the campers to use. This was adequate. The usual drinking water taps and waste water disposal. The only thing that I could gripe bout is the neighbouring business starting at 6am. At £5 a night, and the hospitality of the landlord, made up for it.

Here for lunch just after reopening and with a bit go work here an there still to do. Gorgeous day, perfect for the huge beer garden and it's massive marquee. Peter, the new manager is from the drinks industry and knows his beer, wine and food. We had Korean wings and salmon to start, both excellent and a burger in which the beef was the star with superb triple-cooked chips. The fried halloumi chips were also excellent. The beer is, of course, Hook Norton and is, of course, perfect.

We decided to visit Shan Shui during a shopping trip to Bicester Village to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Instead of our usual grab-and-go from Pret, we thought we’d enjoy a nice sit-down meal given the occasion. Since the restaurant has been around for years and we’re big fans of Chinese cuisine, we thought it would be a great choice. Unfortunately, we were very wrong. We ordered a few starters and some dim sum, and the food was absolutely terrible. My wife actually had to spit out the chicken dim sum because it was so bad, something we’ve never had to do at any Chinese restaurant before. The taste was awful, and it left us questioning how Bicester Village could allow such a poor-quality restaurant to occupy such a prime location, especially in a shopping centre with limited dining options. We ended up returning the food and leaving without ordering anything else, as we didn’t want to let the bad experience ruin my wife’s birthday further. We didn’t even complain because it was meant to be a special day, but I wouldn’t recommend anyone waste their time or money here. We’ll stick to Pret or Itsu next time, and I strongly advise everyone to do the same.

It annoys me to have to leave this review as this restaurant used to be so good but it has gone down hill rapidly within the past 6 months. Too many times have things been missed off our order, with us only realising once back at home. The food is now mediocre at best with poor quality meat being used and varying amounts depending on which day of the week you order. Be prepared to have your order accepted by the restaurant and receiving a pick up time, but when you arrive you can bet it won’t even of been started. This is not the first time - yet the silly excuses come pouring out again and again. If you are looking for a reliable Chinese restaurant with top quality food, this is no longer the one to go for. I hope they sort it out and get back on track, but until they do I would avoid at all costs to avoid disappointment and wasting your money. Also £6.90 for crispy seaweed… come on!
