Lovely evening having dinner but received a parking fine as I didn’t see notices. Called today and staff very helpful and were able to cancel the charge there and then

Always great service but today the food was BETTER THAN EVER! My husband said his hunters chicken was the best he'd ever had, my burger was juicy and just right, and our friend who was dining with us said he has never had a better shepherds pie in his life! The new manager has really turned this place around. Clearly got some fab new staff too. Haven't been in a while, so we're missing some of the familiar faces like Graham, but we hope to pop down again soon to say hi. Thank you! P.S. I have a suggestion to make please....could someone look to putting hooks on the back of the loo doors in the ladies...there is no where to hang a handbag whilst using the cubicle!

We went for Christmas Dinner and we’re really looking forward to it based on what we had seen on the website. The starters were Ok - but the Christmas dinner was really disappointing. Small slices of Turkey and gammon and obviously frozen roast potatoes and vegetables - is certainly not what we were expecting. Very poor indeed and the pictures in the advert did not match what we had. Never again and I certainly wouldn’t recommend a trip - plus they had run out of cask ale. The response I got from the survey stated that it was a corporate choice for the meal and they had no say in the matter. As for the pudding the apple crumble was inedible. Very poor indeed.

Great place to go for a nice relaxed atmosphere and some nice food. We ate from the set menu and it was great quality and super reasonable. The food came quick and the staff were welcoming and attentive.

Really great festive Lunch! I was made to feel really welcome. The restaurant felt really cost & I sat by the open fire, the food and drinks were tasty and arrived promptly. Will definitely be returning.

Worst meal ever. As a group we have been eating at the Gate in Northwood (don’t know why you call it Harrow) for a number of years, previously eaten at lunchtime no problems. Mixed grill for 3, steak well done, no it was almost burnt - peas cold as always. Desert limited as no cream, tea - warm water not hot. Don’t know what the difference is between lunchtime and evening meal but we won’t be trying it again, will stick to lunchtime if at all. Very disappointing. Given that most shops are open quite late we couldn’t understand why no cream, seriously couldn’t someone just gone and bought some?

Excellent staff and food. Regular visitor from Devon. First time I visited on a Sunday and didn't know they have a Sunday menu. My mum suffers from Dementia and only likes Scampi and Chips. Staff team leader Graham went of his way to accommodate my Mum's diet requirements for Scampi and Chips even though it's not on the Sunday menu. Highly recommended service food and value

3 of us ladies went out for a catch-up on Friday night. I've eaten many times here, my 2 friends hadn't been at all . We were all overjoyed we chose here as the service was spot on... Younger staff members have obviously been trained well, very polite , efficient and helpful. The food came out quickly, was piping hot, presented well and tasted amazing . The best I've ever had there. We all had mushrooms starter, gammon main and apple crumble desert. All cooked to perfection. I complimented the manager who said the chefs are new, and all youngsters as well. Well done to the manager for teaching our younger guys the best practice in hospitality, and giving them the chance to shine. You've got a great team there. We all came away still amazed at how good this meal, pub and staff were. Reasonably priced in this day and age, £15. 79 for a 3 Course set Meal of this quality is unbelievable. Thanks guys, we'll be back even more 👍

We hired the private function room for a wake. This is a great venue, with very attentive bar staff. Great selection of buffet food. Highly recommended.

We were passing by and thought we would stop by for a bite to eat. I am so glad we did. Not only is the food delicious but the team are extremely friendly. We will definitely be back for more. We got a chance to meet Fran the new manager who is a credit to the business.

After an irritating start, (we sat near a very loud man who wanted to strike up a conversation and we were not at all interested), we had a great lunch. The barman wasn't certain the chef had the dish I wanted, but, bothered to double check and in fact, the chef could offer what I wanted, avocado on toast, yummy. The next barman helped us find a more suitable table, (away from the loud man). Finally, as a very well received gesture, I was given a big bowl of ice-cream on the house when my friend had her delicious brownie to recognise the inconvenience of our need to move mid-meal... Overall, a lovely busy atmosphere, great food and a professional team serving. Many thanks, coming back soon.

My self and my partner went to the gate in Northwood for dinner to find a notice to state that the kitchen closed at 7pm we arrived at 7.20 we was told it was a ongoing issue and that they have a new manager and chef starting soon such a lovely pub great atmosphere but when you have people going in after a hard day's work wanting something to eat but no food is being served is not good a few customers left disappointed losing a lot of money sad

Unfortunatly my experience was not the best. When we arrived there was slight confussion regarding the booking. We were shown to our table but at no point did we get told that you ordered at the bar we waited for a while before getting up and asking other people who told us you order at the bar. I asked for 2 dishes a pie and a salad both unavailable, maybe it would have been nice to be told before hand so we could choose other option before ordering. The food was served but noone came to ask if everything was alright, maybe I am out of touch but customer service was not around that evening. The place itself was lovely and the food was fine.

This place has a good service. I got a parking fine and was very concerned and this was alleviated by the staff, who were able to cancel my fine. I enjoyed my dining experience as the service was friendly and the environment was clean.

We stopped here for a late Sunday lunch and were not disappointed. Bar and table servers were really friendly and welcoming. Food was delicious. We had a range of starters and mains. Sirloin steak was cooked to perfection. Also got extra smarties with my coffee. Simple pleasures!

I'm not sure about letting Dogs in. It came as a shock there are no notices displaid. Barking whilst you are trying to eat lunch... What about duty of care for people with allergies had to head home to get antihistamines.

Warning. Went to this pub and got hit with a £50 charge for parking. It was 9:30pm on the 22nd November- I thought car parks in pubs were for customers. Not a charging opportunity.

Service was good and the atmosphere fine on a busy Saturday afternoon. But two of the dishes were not so good. Fish finger sandwich .... lots of batter, could not find much fish. Prawn sandwich was very dry and tasteless. My online reviews are usually good. Hopefully The Gate can improve, and we go back another day.

Went to the Gate last week as was working across the road, it’s one of those places that I look at as I go by and always think what a charming looking place. We had a work leaving drink over there and found out what a great place it is. Because of the staff and the manager we ended up eating as well. Great food and a great place. Lucky Northwood I say.
