Worst Biriyani I ever had in my life

Recently moved into an address in the area and thought we’d try this place as we always walk past, ordered a chicken tikka masala, 2 garlic naans, 5 popadoms and a portion of chips.. upon receiving the food and fishing it up, the chicken tikka masala had 5 small bits of chicken in it.. the 2 garlic naans were stone cold.. and the popadoms were stale as if they had been sitting out for a long long time, chips also stone cold.. my partner called them to explain but he said he’d call us back.. still haven’t received a call, will not order from here again

Really enjoyed the meal this evening. The food was really good, just hit the spot. The customer service was exceptional. Atmosphere was beautiful. I would definetly recommend and would come here again.

Had arrived from Canada and was recommended this restaurant. Food was wonderful and the service was great! Was recommended many great options by the waiter and owner came out and said hi too! They all tasted amazing and would love to return once again. Sadly forgot to take photos throughout the meal as I was busy munching!

Everyone what a fantastic friendly place I have been ordering Indian food for years but Star of Indian is a winner I'm highly recommending this fantastic place the food absolutely delicious I have become regular costumer from now on due to amazing people working there and absolutely delicious food.

Absolutely atrocious customer service forgot most of our food on collection notice it was missing within 30 seconds of collecting order. Accused us of taking the items that was missing and even said we are banned because of there mistake. Would not spend a penny here again and would recommend to avoid at all cost.

Absolutely horrendous service ordered on the phone and went to collect and half the food was missing and then they band my parter from the shop, after them making the mistake they still blamed us for the missing food, never ordering from here again

Poor customer service on the telephone! I'm pretty confident it's the owner. Food is good but both my wife and I have had terrible experiences with the customer service over the years.

I recently visited star of India restaurant and I was quite disappointed with the overall experience. To start with some positives, the service staff was friendly and attentive. They took our orders promptly and were polite throughout our visit. However, that's where the good experience ended. The owner of the restaurant was extremely rude and dismissive. When we mentioned that the biryani we ordered lacked salt, instead of apologizing or offering a solution, or taking it as a suggestion,he defensively remarked that the restaurant was meant for Europeans, implying that our feedback wasn't valid. This reaction was not only unprofessional but also insulting, especially since the restaurant clearly offers Indian cuisine.post which he was coming to our table again and again to explain these things and there by not providing a peaceful environment to have the food Another major issue was the small portion sizes. For the price, we expected hearty servings, but what we got was almost very less, I cannot recommend this place. While the service staff was trying their best, the owner's behavior and the inadequate portion sizes overshadowed everything else.

Clean, food good but not hot enough. Will go again, but surprised to hear owner raising his voice to another customer. Not the thing to do.

We went for an anniversary meal here as it’s our favourite local Indian! Great food, great customer service and great prices. Both sitting in and takeaway are delicious. I always try and get something different and I always love it!

I have order for £44.00 to feed my guess. What a small portion and not full containers were delivered to me. Uncooked aubergine. It is important to realise why customer is ordering for £44.00. The staff serving might found it is too much for them to serve the customer, please be reflective that you don't make your customer feels that the money is wasted. Too little portions were in the small containers where I have to reorder from another restaurant - that is a shame! Waste of my money

I came in with my family a week or so ago, and truly the service was amazing the food was so great! Not only can they cater for allergies but for taste buds too 🫢 we have a little one who doesn’t like spicy and then myself who absolutely loves it! We said it would be too much of a fuss, but the manager/server insisted that they had it made both ways! Truly this place not only brings a nostalgic atmosphere but a care to their customers and food they provide! Quality isn’t the word!! It’s amazing! ALSO ONE OF THE OLDEST INDIAN RESTAURANTS IN THE AREA… So why not support a True Local Business in our community❤️ Also… they give you free table extras if you eat in 😉

Charged higher price to what the menu said. Excuse was it was an old menu. Backfired as we were so cross we didn’t add a tip. Menu prices should be correct. Beware they add on extra!

The food was very good, reasonably priced and in good quantity. Service was impeccable. Their Dal Makhni is worth trying with Nan bread. 10/10 would come again.

Called in here recently and found the restaurant to be very clean and the staff very friendly. The food was very tasty but sadly only luke warm and the restaurant was freezing on a cold January evening. It seems that the focus is more on take away orders than the customers dining in the restaurant.

Nice and tasty food.... Waiters are nice n polite, but the manager in grey clothes was a headache for us he don't know proper English talking unwanted things, telling us that he gave us lot of time to sit in... But the timing on website shows close at 11pm, but he was behind us to go out of his restaurant at 10:30pm... And we where the only family table in... I don't know why he talks too much to customers... If we want to order something from menu.. he tells us to order something else.... I told him straight away we will not come anymore... But food and waiters wer excellent... I recommed this restaurant but only deal with waiters not with grey suit manager.

This restaurant is simply amazing, we ordered a take a way and the food arrived promptly, the driver was very friendly and the quality of food, was simply excellent. They catered for my partners vegan dietary requirements and the restaurant deserves 5 stars. Very highly recommended indeed.

Ordered a takeaway, phoned restaurant after an hour to find out where food was. Apparently only two drivers but would deliver within half hour.Food arrived completely cold!!! Dreadful takeaway service, dreadful attitude. Wouldn’t order from here again.

We’ve ordered from Star of India multiple times and always enjoyed our order, so to celebrate a birthday we decided to visit for a family meal and each one of us was delighted with our curries, all of them had excellent flavour and the portion sizes were generous. I would definitely encourage the reader of this review to give the restaurant a try because I’m glad I followed up on the suggestion from a friend of mine. The staff are all welcoming and attentive, I hope you enjoy your visit as much as I did.

Excellent traditional Indian ! Having lived in Uxbridge for years & driven past this restaurant so many times we were inspired by reviews here to finally give it a try...we didn't know what we'd been missing!! Great food, friendly service & terrific value. The Jaipuri Chili Lam was delicious and tender. Do not be put off by the fact it's not in the centre of town. I'm already looking forward to my next visit !!

We were very well looked after by all of the staff, the food was delicious. They took care of the birthday cake we brought along. The hosting was great. Highly recommended!

They doesn’t even know what is Indian food, they don’t know what is Tawa Roti & Gajrella (Gajar ka Halwa). I am pretty sure if you ask them anything about Indian food they will say that they don’t know. They don’t know the names of the Indian dishes so how can you expect them to cook Indian food.

I have ordered from this place many times and they've never let me down in both service and quality! Would strongly recommend their tikka masala, the best around I would say. Plus their portions are very generous! The owner is a very lovely chap, always open for a chat and listens to the customer with a smile on his face. If you haven't tried this place before, give them a try you won't regret it!

This is our first time coming and it was absolutely amazing! So clean and tidy and the food was amazing! I can’t say enough good things about this place. The customer service has blown us away, we were made to feel so comfortable and relaxed as soon as we walked in. The food was amazing we had the butter chicken, chicken tikka and garlic tikka it was beautiful I can’t recommend it enough! The house rosé wine was really lovely and the hospitality was above and beyond. Overall we will be recommending this place to our friends and family and we will now be regular customers!

A very bad experience with a takeaway from Star of India. The driver who brought the food had no change so ended up with a 20% tip and never has a tip been so ill-deserved. The food arrived cold, there was a hair in the raita and what sort of yoghurt it was is anybody’s guess. Just awful - never again.

I had an absolutely gorgeous takeaway from Star of India, Uxbridge. Delivered sooner than approximated time. It was as if I'd been eating in restaurant. Was lovely and hot when delivered, lovely quick service. Delicious and wld recommend it to anyone that wants a lovely curry delivered to ur door x

Food is always excellent here, I have been a regular for 20 years. Staff and manager are very professional and service is sharp. Good range of dishes to suit all tastes. I highly recommend it if you like authentic Indian food. Best Indian restaurant for miles.

I HAVEN'T TRIED THE FOOD AND SERVICE YET ONCE TRIED MIGHT GIVE BETTER REVIEW?

Normally quick delivery .....lovely food....friendly staff ....The boss is wonderful ! Shame about the gentleman who takes the orders over the phone !

Twice i have been now both times as bad as each other. First time we waa only ones in the restaurant and waited 1 hour 20 minutes for food while the waiter, chef and manager kept coming over to enquire about our personal lives and try to force a conversation on us while no food was being made. Food ended up coming out COLD! Second time i went as they advertised they were part of the eat out scheme the manager was speaking to me WITH HIS BACK! His back was facing me entire time he spoke to me, asking if i had a booking and then saying they were fully booked, i was outside 20 minutes before entering nobody entered or exited and just to prove my point i waited 30 minutes outside after to see if they were being honest but again nobody entered. Discrimination at it's finest, absolute pathetic, i was rudely spoken to by a person's back and bald head, if that's how you treat customers then you certainly need some lessons in that department.

Lovely food once you’ve battled your way through the rudeness of the manager and incompetence waiter. Totally unprofessional attitude of staff, incredibly slow service and you’re made to feel like you’re an inconvenience if you dare to try to order anything other than your initial drinks and food. I’ll never go back which is a shame as they obviously have a chef who’s wasted in this place.

Have been a regular customer for over 10 years. Great flavours and authentic Indian cuisine, nice restaurant to eat in or takeaway. Star dishes include Lamb Methi, Murgh Masala and Saag Aloo. Friendly staff to help you with menu choices.

Great food and good portions and reasonably priced. The people are lovely and very friendly, wouldn’t go any where else now.

Visited for the Sunday Buffet. Not your normal buffet where the food choices are laid out to help yourself. A mixed starter - Chicken Tikka, Sheek Kebab, Samosa and salad. Massive portion and absolutely delicious. Choice of 3 mains: Chicken or Lamb Masala or Chicken Karahi, served with rice and a choice of side and Naan Bread. All cooked to order. £9.95 per head. Poppadoms extra.Up there with the best Indian meal we have had. And we have had a few ! Generous portions, steaming hot and absolutely fabulous ! We can't wait to go back and sample their full menu. Downside - no vegetarian option, which didn't apply to us, as we are not vegetarians. They maybe do accomodate veggies - not sure. Portions so large we could not finish. Requested to takeaway what we didn't eat. Not allowed evidently - not sure why.We will be back very soon.

First time visit, we ordered a starter and a main meal with a drink each, the restaurant was very clean and modern.The food arrived in good time and was absolutely delicious and very tasty one of the best I have had.What stopped me giving 5 stars was the service, it wasn’t bad but.... laid back, I certainly don’t want to be pampered but no one asked how the meal was, if they did I would have told them how good it was and I finished my drink half way through and fancied another, this wasn’t noticed by the staff, so a couple of missed opportunities.We will go back though to see if it improves.

Visited on Saturday after a rugby match at twickenham. It was early so we were the only people there. Orders were taken and drinks brought quickly. Starters were were good. Then a long wait for the main courses. All the while bags of food for take away orders kept coming out for delivery. We were told that our fish curry takes a long time to cook. Food eventually arrived and was really tasty.

The staff are very inconsiderate, rude and don't even listen to the orders that they wrote down. I will never go back as the staff are also racist.

I had arranged a get together for my birthday in December 2017. The manager and staff made the evening very nice, they were all organised, the food was superb I can highly recommend . I would return any time .

He pedido la comida de aquí antes y he comido en su restaurante, normalmente sin problema, sin embargo, nunca más me Pida comida para llevar de estas personas! Pedimos comida para llevar y nos llevó 1 horas y media. La comida estaba fría, me dijeron que tenía acceso y chutneys porque poppadums el retraso y estaba claro que evidentemente mintieron cuando les llame. Hablé con la directora (aparentemente no tan seguro - im, tenía una voz distinta cada vez que dice ser el Todo gerente! Y nos colgó en total de aproximadamente 5 veces cuando nos llamaron para quejarse. Por desgracia, que era como un trapo rojo a un toro. Los recipientes de comida estaban goteando grasa poppodums estaban duros, arroz frío, salsa en el korma era tan gruesa que se pegó al tenedor, creo que este es el lugar donde tiene sobras congeladas tanto tiempo esperando a ser entregado! El conductor de la entrega fue más que el "Gerente" llamado diciendo que es lo siento, pero él no tiene control sobre el estado de la comida, le preguntamos al chofer para decirle al jefe que no estaba contento con el servicio que hemos recibido. Después de media hora nos llamaron a la puerta y aquí es donde puede haber redimido un poco como el mismos gerente actual Ahmed fue parado allí con una bolsa portadora con una botella de refresco, más poppadums y acompañamientos, aunque un poco tarde, ya que habíamos comido lo que podría salvar de la comida que estaba entregado. Él se disculpó y acordó que la comida no debería haber aumentado en el Estado que lo hizo. Nos invitaron a volver al restaurante por Ahmed y dijo que él compraría ofreció una bebida a disculparse. El costo de la comida £47. 70 no hubiera pagado este tenía haber sido efectivo - Pagamos con tarjeta en el momento de ordenar. Creo que quizás no lo será en el futuro - debería haber pedido un chino en vez de mejor comida y mejor servicio!

Nos clientes habituales de este lugar, pero la comida se ha ido a un nivel muy bajo y no tiene ningún sabor también casi cada vez que pedimos un me olvide llevar algo de orden no se usan más

Ha sido un regular aquí por más de 20 años. Nunca decepciona, la comida es excelente y el personal muy amable.

Comimos aquí como era en ruta hacia la Becks Teatro. Ojalá hubiéramos tenido sólo dimos la vuelta y salimos. Nos recibieron con el típico, bebidas y popadoms. Pero la planta debería haber avisado que si no limpia el suelo, qué tipo de higiene que tienen en la cocina? L

El restaurante está muy bien, el personal era muy servicial. La comida era fresca y yo de verdad disfrutamos de la visita. Vendrán con la familia la próxima vez. La única recomendación sería tener algún tipo de entretenimiento por ej. tv o cabezadita atrás música baja, ya que me sentí muy tranquilo también para las parejas que posiblemente velas que atienden, sería una buena idea.

He estado cenando en el Star of India y bajar por 15 años y nunca he tenido una mala comida. El personal siempre es amable y acogedor y siempre está dispuesto a crear cualquier plato que desee, incluso si no está en el menú.

We visited here today for the first time. We entered hesitantly as there was noone else inside. Outside was advertised a 'buffet' but it wasn't like a 'buffet' that I knew, more of a set meal. We were told the dishes we could have and the staff were incredibly accommodating to my mums dietary concerns and changed one of the dishes for her and explained all the dishes. The starter and main courses were all cooked fresh and the flavours were splendid. Even my daughters, both fussy eaters enjoyed it. Thankyou.

It's a shame really as this used to be such a great restaurant but (like the area it's in) the place is going to seed.Now just an average curry house

What can I say, except that I love this restaurant. I'm a regular customer and a bit ashamed that it has taken me this long to write a review.The staff are always so welcoming and always make extra effort to make you feel special. It is little things such as when you are waiting for your takeaway, the staff often bring a small snack while you wait if it is busy. I use the restaurant regularly to dine in and also to takeaway.The menu is great and varied - also very tasty food on offer. The only downside is they don't have a great selection of wine, but there are other options available - good selection of beer!Will definitely return and can't recommend this place more highly.

I've been using this Indian restaurant for over 20 years both with friends and work colleagues and the service and quality of food is always superb. The portions are also generous but that's not the point. The dishes are always freshly made and quickly prepared. The owner is always very accommodating to customers's needs and extremely helpful to make your Indian meal special!

I have had food from this restaurant a number of times, each time the food has been top quality. I have tried a number of dishes and really like the korma and the coconut rice. There is a perfect balance so with both dishes it's not overly sweet. I would recommend this restaurant.

I have had the pleasure of eating here many times over the past few years and have always found the food excellent and the staff eager to impress.A mate of mine not young in age got married today and he had the reception meal for 50 at the restaurant. The restaurant had never done this before and so cooking for 50 at one go was a challenge which they lived up to. Yes it was a bit of all hands to the pump for the staff to get the food out and no it was not quite silver service catering for so many in one hit, but when the starters came and main meals came out it was gorgeous and piping hot. kept cooking until everyone was full. Think they produced 4/5 type starters and maybe the same in main dishes to make it practical to deliver.Everyone left content with the food and the service enough said. Well done to the owner and all his staff, a job well done.We will be returning as have always found the food as nice as anywhere else and good value for money. The decor in the premises is tidy as well.

Been there with my bf, experience was terrible, the manager was so rude with he's staff, restaurant was fully empty, we felt so uncomfortable, manager or boss he was keep on explaining everything like this is 1st time we been in Indian restaurant, we are eating Indian since we born, because ma parents like Indian me too, food n waiters was extremely friendly and polite but no one was smiling seems like they are afraid of someone, never recommend couples going there,

I have been visiting this restaurant for many years. The food and the service has always been excellent, I have never had any cause to complain. The staff are always polite and helpful when it comes to explaining new dishes and ingredients. I would recommend.

Came for a family meal in the afternoon. We were ignored by the server as he said "I am on the phone" and had to wait till he was done to be seated- in an empty restaurant. Food ordered and drinks served, he was very intrusive and would not leave the table for us to have a conversation- asked a lot of questions about where we lived and what we do and then bad mouthing the surrounding competition etc which made us all uncomfortable. Food was tragic and actually made us all sick in the evening. For what we paid I would've had a better experience at a fast food restaurant- will never ever go back.
