The Gasworks Brewbar in Manchester

Great beers, great price, and a great bar.

We visited gasworks for drinks and a light bite before going out in Manchester. Great atmosphere within the bar with a variety of games available, darts and shuffleboard included. We ordered a couple of drinks and the honey and soy fried chicken tenders on a bed of waffle fries. The food was absolutely delicious. Good service and friendly staff. I would like to revisit in the summer so sit in the outdoor area and soak up the sun. Great place to visit when in the area. I would definitely recommend.

This place doesn’t have the feel of a true brewpub, it’s a bar that serves its own beers but also a large selection of mass produced lager , which perhaps suggests its customers are there for the location , near to a theatre and not on the hunt for own brewed beer.

My husband and I dropped in here before a gig at O2 Ritz. There was a good range of beers in tap. We also opted for some small plates, trying the Viet nom nom and Mac n Kimchi. Both were tasty but we did expect bigger portions for the price, but maybe that's just a reflection of Manchester pricing. They were hosting a free quiz when we were there on Tuesday night. We'd definitely return.

Great atmosphere when we walked in. Came here as part of a food day out in Manchester and wasn't disappointed. Had the Nom Noms, very nice, but strange eating a meat filled donut! 🤔 also had Korean chicken, also very nice, washed down with a refreshing Elderflower lager 👍

Only loses one star as they tend to close quite early!

Came in here last night. Large work event, spent lots of money. We had a great time until a narcissistic idiot behind the bar decided to stop serving us (complete with a smirk on his face too). In fairness, he was short and not very attractive, so expect he has a residual chip on his shoulder - but still. So annoying - i wish i'd gotten his name. Aside from this: - Tables and Menus Sticky - Beer served in warm glasses - No ashtrays outside (so cigs all over the floor) - Often nobody behind the bar when needing to order, or staff chatting/not paying attention. It's nice but not all that, and whoever that barman was, needs to get over himself!

Tables are dirty, food is good but way too salty, drinks and food are overpriced. Looks really nice and has a good atmosphere but everything else sucks

Popped in on a quiet afternoon, venue looks fantastic and we will definitely be back to play shuffleboard/ darts. Definitely won't be eating, food was decidedly average. We love salt n pepper chicken, but this was just smothered in a weird mix of burnt chilli flakes and spring onion. The purple slaw was beyond tastless but helped cool the burnt chilli taste on everything. The waffled fries were OK, but again, far too much of the burnt seared in chilli flakes. It looked great but just didn't taste good. Staff were helpful and polite, and the husband said the craft beers were really good. Will be back for drinks and games and maybe a bag of crisps.

Absolutely heaving. But Friday before Christmas, so meh.

A nice busy pub. Surprisingly good vegan options, but not great. It was junk food only. The shuffleboard was auper fun.

Not my sort of place. Packed with vertical drinkers, but those who frequent these trendy bars no doubt enjoy. Beer brewed on site indifferent. May be better earlier in day?

Nice bar with industrial vibe. Great choice of ales. Shuffle board and darts to play and have a big screen, no doubt for big games but not on whilst there. Have a happy hours too.

Well, nice decor etc but the menus very old, dirty, sticky planks on the table Chips nice! But Long Island ice tea tasted like coke with ice/. Can’t even taste alcohol in it for £9 Dirty menus like you would not dream off. If you looking for a quick drink and go home then this is the place for you.

Came food to see a little sign statingbno food today ... oh well had a drink found the atmosphere relaxing the pub games intresting the brew room very intresting will be back to try some food once i have i will update my scores ...lovely bar staff and well worth a visit

Standard city centre prices. Decent looking with entertainment you can muster up with the darts and other team games. Worth a visit.

Casual and friendly - lots of space too and good beer selection!

Came here as its not too far from home and wanted to try out a new place. Our food was awesome, not as spicy as advertised but that's OK. Drinks were reasonably priced and was happy to see some dart boards. A little pricey for darts but still had a good time.

I visited here with my boyfriend where we purchased 1 pint and 1 Diet Coke. When we paid with a £20 note and received only coins as change we were confused. When we asked about the change we were given, the guy (manager I believe) stated we were actually under-charged and stated he would ‘let us off’ with the 20p I know pints aren’t cheap these days, but I’m not convinced the price was correct in this instance.

the table was absolutely filthy and we entered the bar without a sight of member of staff the food was less than average , but above all else I attest expect to have a clean place to sit and drink

Over-all found this place average only compared to other happening places all around that you can enjoy

The Gas Works is a fantastic place to go to. I hadn't been in a while but that doesn't diminish the fact it is a great place to visit. Was slightly confused with regards to the burger options on the menu. I didn't understand that you can select the style of burger and type of sauce / glaze it comes in. Nonetheless I would definitely visit again and have the beef burger. It was delicious.

Came here for the delicious food being served from Thief Street. Absolutely fantastic bar although the atmosphere is a bit generic the drinks certainly make up for that.

Had a pub quiz on and the volume from the guy hosting was just way louder than it should have been. The staff behind the bar were to busy chatting instead of serving and gave off an unwelcoming vibe. We did order food that took an absolute age to turn up at our table - again partially down to the staff behind the bar chatting away to each other as I could hear the chef smashing the bell for food to be taken out Probably won't return again.

We always end up here at the back end of a Theatre visit or other show. It is the perfect end of the night for us. I love the brewed on site beer and my wife the G&T, and we both love the service. It has a really nice vibe lots of comings and going, great music and we love to watch the Shufl. Young slick staff who add to the enjoyment

First impressions of this venue were positive, nice atmosphere and modern vibe. A little loud for my taste, despite not being super busy (6pm ish on a Thursday) I did feel like I was having to shout over the music to have a conversation with the person sat right next to me. I found the menu to be confusing - "chicken nugs"? are they chicken nuggets or something else? Actually they are quite large juicy chicken goujons but who knew? We ordered the Malaysian Buffalo Fried chicken which should have come with some kimchi that seemed to be completely missing (not sure what was Malaysian about it either to be honest, isn't Kimchi Korean? and I ordered the the Pork n Yard - jerk belly pork with honey lime yoghurt which I really didn't notice and purple slaw which pretty much half filled my bowl. The Waffle fries which I'm guessing came out of the freezer were somewhat greasy to say the least although my friend considered them to be the best bit of our total order. Over all I think what could have been a fantastic experience was disappointing, despite being quiet it took 40 minutes to fry some chicken and fries that were over priced and not that great. The only redeeming feature were the fantastic front of house staff who do provide excellent customer service, no complaints there. Girl behind the bar remembered no ice for our second round of drinks after we'd requested that for the first round. Switched on helpful staff who'd I'd employ in a heartbeat. Shame about the menu, simple food trying to be clever but just being confusing. Not nearly as excited about you opening a branch in Northwich now I've been to sample the offering...

I love this place - every single member of the team is different and lovely in their own way. Every. Single. One. It's comfortable, spacious, the music is always different. Loud enough to sing along to if you so choose but quiet enough to hold a convo. It's just chilled and has come to be one of my happy places since moving here a few months ago Can't forget Dave's Pub Quiz - uh-mazing, every other Tuesday free entry and decent prizes 😍

The whole place wasn't being cleaned as they clearly didn't have enough staff working. Tables were full of glasses and food cartons. The food took 40 mins to arrive and although it did taste great, one of the dishes was quite cold like it had been sat a while before being brought out.

Food was very good but had a few things out of stock including cheese for the burgers. Try explaining that to the missus when she sent you to the bar while she keeps an eye on table. Good atmosphere and cold beer

over the years of drinking margarita I didn't realise you can f.it.up and make it taste cheap and disgusting. and serve without salt! so far the most disappointing marharita in my life.

Disappointed that they had none of their own beers on tap. The beers we did have weren't kept that well either. I doubt I'll waste my time coming back.

Love the bar and come here for a few drinks all the time but this time we came for lunch. Service was very fast and the food was great and reasonably priced.

Absolutely fantastic food. Spacious inside. Nice decoration. Has outside table and seat. I am surprised the food is so delicious at here. Also in very reasonable price. Staffs are nice. Defo will come back .

Not quite sure what I expected but this wasn't it... Hugely commercial (although given where it is I'm not surprised), own beer bland and dull, cask beer range bit more interesting. I'd go back and try it again, but I wasn't a fan really on this occasion.

What a brilliant Non alcohol selection. Progressive place that a lot of other bars should look at as pioneers of catering for all socialisers, not just the ones who want to immers themselves in poor sleep, dysregulation and self loathing! Well done guys!

OK. Good cider but seemed to be shutting earlier than advertised.

I attended this ‘bar/restaurant’ early feb for a friends birthday expecting it to be another decent Manchester place to eat or drink. I was very wrong, we ordered food and waited 40 minutes. After this point we asked a member of staff for an update on our food as we weren’t told there was a wait on food or a lack of staff at any point. They said our food would be another 15 minutes. We then went back to the bar staff after 20 minutes as we had no update or food. One of the bar staff who my partner spoke to was quite rude and blunt with her, telling her that he didn’t know what was going on with our food. They didn’t offer an apology or an update to when it would arrive. As a group we then made a decision to ask for a refund for all of our food and left. Another member of staff apologised at the end but offered nothing more. I walked 2 minutes down the street to bunny Jackson’s where we got all 6 of our meals within 20 minutes. If you’re looking to eat here I would rethink your choice. Go to bunny Jackson’s as their food and service is top quality. I usually look at Google reviews and trip advisor reviews before going somewhere and me seeing this review this would definitely put me off going. Very disappointed as it was our first and last visit. I normally enjoy writing great reviews for bar and restaurants that deserve it due to great food, drinks and service. However I cannot do it on this occasion.

Been coming here for years and was in earlier today before going to a show, and staff confirmed 11pm close - same as advertised on website. Just called in at 10.20pm to be told last orders already called despite it being pretty busy. Who makes these calls - guess they can afford to lose the revenue from the extra business (the owners must be so well off!!). Very disappointed.

Really cool place. A very generous happy hour during the start of the week through to Thursday, 4pm to 8pm 2 cocktails for £12. I ordered an Old Fashioned, my wife had a French Martini. The Old Fashioned was a very good one, with a beautiful balance between sweet, bitter, and fruity orange, and very aromatic. It is a very large open venue with bench seating, almost like a German Bier Keller, plenty of seating for groups of different sizes. The food menu looked good, however we had booked a table for dinner elsewhere.

Visited with a group of mates, we enjoyed a few beers poured by friendly staff, played Shufl and had a few bites to eat. The sandwiches aren't just an old sandwich! Proper good food where you can tell everything's made in house. Played Shufl which is a great bar game for large groups

Called 10 25 on Weds 1/12/2022 to be advised at the door that it was soon to close at 11:00 and we should go to Home. Bemused we visited Home and had a couple of drinks, lovely time and left after closing just after 11:00 pm. We were a group of well presented individuals in or late 50s early 60s. Did we dodge a bullet and was the doorman being helpful or is the establishment simply ageist. We had previously visited prior to Covid to play Shuffle and enjoy the beer!
