The Garrison Bistro in Highland

Came here for a romantic meal,never been before, but read alot of reviews and wow it certainly did live upto standards. Food was famominal and the staff were so polite and friendly too, although very busy, we were never left unattended and made to feel very welcome. Highly recommended. Thank you.

Warm and inviting restaurant, friendly staff, delicious food. Try the Cullen Skink! Good wine list too.

El Garrison Bistro se encuentra en el Garrison Hotel en Fort Williams.Tuve una muy buena cena allí que disfruté bastante con un pastel de pastor muy sabroso junto con un Gin & Tonic (o dos). Sin embargo, y por desgracia, ¡el bar estaba completamente agotado de todas las ales y cervezas locales! ¿Cómo es posible?El desayuno, que se sirve en el restaurante, era regular. El servicio era lento y la selección era aceptable pero bastante limitada.

Mi esposo y yo disfrutamos de una excelente cena después de un largo viaje en auto desde Skye. Mi marido tomó una cerveza local y yo tomé una copa de vino. Las comidas eran caseras y bastante deliciosas. Teníamos el pastel de carne y sopa de puerros casera. De postre teníamos tarta de queso y pudín de caramelo pegajoso.

Visited today for lunch. The board outside said Bistro open. Looking forward to a nice lunch only to be told the Bistro shut at 1pm. Really poor when you can't order lunch after 1pm. When I said it was very poor to one of the assistants she told me it is too expensive to staff the kitchen when it's not busy. She also said we were the third group today saying it was difficult to buy a "late lunch". Management need to look at this and make sure your board is removed from outside when in effect you are closed. Very disappointing.

We went for a 2 night break, room amazing, staff can't do enough for you food fantastic, great value for money, would definitely come back

Lovely decor in the bistro and not too noisy even when quite full. Food choice was good and quality was excellent.

El personal del establecimiento nos trato de manera muy agradable. Probamos la sopa de champiñones que estaba espectacular. Para repetir. Los segundos, platos de la cocina escocesa que estaban buenos, aunque no estamos acostumbrados a ese tipo de comida y por tanto no se adapta tanto a nuestro paladar. Los postres, bien. Calidad-precio buena. Volvería a cenar en el Bistro del “The Garrison”. Creo que fue un acierto.

The arrival experience was not to good and set the tone. We stood at the bar area where there were a number of staff pottering about all seeming to ignore us. There were none of the usual wait to be seated signs. Eventually a young lady came over and asked if we were being seen to. Luckily my wife answered before I did. The food was Ok but just ok about what you would expect in a Bistro. The atmosphere? non existent apart from a group of French speakers at a nearby table who were fun to watch and listen to and were clearly having a good time. Not the place, we thought, for a romantic meal as tables are close together. Staff were quick to table as was the food which was hot/warm when it arrived. Probably because it was early and not that busy the staff all seemed to gather at the bar area talking and texting on their phones much like they were when we arrived. Cost wise for 3 courses was what I would have expected but as to whether it was value for money the jury is still out.

Our first visit to this local bistro and we will certainly return to try the evening menu. The lunch menu offered a good range of reasonably priced mains and lighter options. Some interesting twists on local produce and favourites. Prompt and friendly service with good food.

We ate here while staying at the Garrison. The food is superb - the best butter chicken curry I have had in a very long time. My friend had the haggis bon bons and she said they were lovely. Not a lot of room left for sweet after the curry but had to try the tablet ice cream, our waiter kindly put some of the sauce from the sticky toffee pudding in with it. Superb. Recommended.

Koselig locale,men dårlig organisert betjening.Det tok lang tid før man fikk bestilt, og lang tid å få servert både mat og drikke. Glassene med rødvin var for varme, noe som nok skyldes at flaskene oppbevares på det varmeste stedet i lokalet, oppe under taket. Jeg hadde pasta og min mann hadde kyllingrullade. Pastaretten er nok laget på forhånd og det virket som den var varmet i mikrobølgeovnen, den var ujevnt varm og pastaen kokt i stykker.Kyllingrulladen smakte godt, men soppsausen virket også som om den var varmet i mikro.Til dessert hadde vi iskrem og sticky toffee pudding. Veldig enkelt tilberedt, og det tok usedvanlig lang tid å få den servert. Det skal sies at pga den lange ventetiden, trengte vi ikke å betale for Sticky toffee puddingen.

We went to this place on a recommendation from our B&B; host. What we didn't realize until the next day is that there are two places in Fort William called the Garrison. We went to the wrong one.

Good service. Food simple , but fresh and everything we ordered was good. It is a little small, but we sat at first table next to window with the wheelchair.

Stopped here without booking and the managed to fit in our family of 6. Excellent service with a good choice of meals. I would recommend the rib and macaroni cheese.

Continental breakfast buffet with typical granola / oats, fruit, yogurt, bread / toast. Coffee, tea, water, juice for drinks then a choice of one “item” from the menu. I chose the lox and egg bagel. Hubby chose Scottish breakfast. All was cooked perfectly and service was very good.

Wir waren zum Abendessen dort. Das Lokal gehört zu einem Hotel. Leider hat auch dieses den typischen Charme eines Hotelrestaurants.

Main meals were delicious - slow cooked ribs on mac n cheese and a beef pie. Big hearty portions of yumminess. We didn't sample starters and were too stuffed to have dessert unfortuenately. All very averagely priced. We only had water so can't comment on the wine menu.

A large group of us ate here one evening at the end of a wonderful holiday in the area. We found this restaurant disappointing, bog standard white sliced bread to accompany a mediocre prawn cocktail, a lacklustre sauce with the pasta dish, no chutney to go with the curry, and at £70 a head overpriced.

after completing and powering the GGW in 4 days we arrived at the stunning hotel! However major cock up our dear uncle Eric had clearly forgotten how to read a calendar and booked our rooms for the following night!!! que Yvone the hotel assistant manager to the rescue!!! she went above and beyond to help our fatigued brains and organise 3 rooms at the drop of a hat! not only that she made my dreams come true by locking us up in a cell!! that's a cell room with out commiting the crime!!!

Had dinner here to celebrate our West Highland Way finish. Food was tasty and good, big portions. Disappointed about the table and have to ask one of the staff for a wedge. I just wished that they sat us in a different table and not group customers in one corner. But a lovely place to eat, great atmosphere and a few locals dining which is a good sign I think.

We had a farewell meal at the end of a West Highland Way walk here and we had a very pleasant evening. It was a bit of a squeeze fitting us all in as the restaurant is quite small but the staff were super accommodating and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The food was very good, the chef even sent out a second set of steak pies as he felt the pastry hadn't risen enough on the first ones.....as a group of 14 we all enjoyed the meal and the friendly service in a bright, clean environment. Very good experience all round.

Food was great. Service was good and the chef went out of his way to prepare food for my children. Atmosphere was nice as well. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

This is our second visit to The Garrison, the food is lovely and fresh. No overpowering music making it easy to have a conversation. Staff very efficient and friendly.

I've eaten 3 lunches here and they've all been delicious (go for the seafood chowder!), reasonably priced and served promptly. I work nearby so don't always have long to eat lunch so can't recommend this place highly enough.

I visited the restaurant at the start of December for my work Christmas night out. Everybody had a wonderful meal! There was a crowd of 15 of us and every meal was perfect and tasty! It is by far the best Christmas meal I have ever had in fort William.

We stumbled upon this restaurant when seeking shelter from a pouring rain. The other eateries in the area were all full. We were certainly glad that they were...the food, service, and ambiance of this restaurant were outstanding.

Recommend this restaurant as the staff were attentive and the menu family friendly. Steak Pie was excellent and Chocolate Box. Only criticism was the Mushroom starter not quite right. Nearly five star.

Looked for somewhere for a meal in Fort William and found this restaurant on the internet. The whole dining experience was excellent......the service from the waiting staff and quality of the food. It was refreshing to have staff that were friendly and chatty. Staff willing and encouraging to show the transformed cells from the old police station. It's unbelievable that it's only been open 12 weeks as the standard of service is high and the quality of food. Will definately return when we're next in the area and can highly recommend a visit.
