We popped in and absolutely recommend!! Very fresh and delicious options. We got Crab Sandwiches, Cullen Skink Soup and Prawn Salad Roll - All delicious and very fresh! Service was friendly and they seemed very happy for our custom, which we didn't experience as a whole in Mallaig. Certinly pop in if you're passing

Absolutely delicious food that catered for all of my family. Unassuming and friendly. Seafood fans were blown away with mussels and langostines. Just what we wanted to eat in Scotland. More traditional family members enjoyed well cooked fried scampi and chicken. Lovely crispy chips. Friendly and kind staff helped us negotiate what we all wanted to eat which is always difficult in our complicated family. Run off the Jacobite to this place as quick as you can! Thanks so much. Xx

Way overpriced. For £16 for haddock and chips and £16 for calamari and chips we were expecting an amazing fish supper. Instead we got an average fish and chips and overcooked rubbery calamari and chips. On top of that they charged us £1 for a wee tub of questionable taste mayonnaise and £1 for a sour mustardy tartar sauce. £2.50 for a can of coke. Average chip shop with restaurant prices and limited sitting.

Fish and chips were fine. Nothing special but tasty enough. The prices however are eye-watering. £17.50 for a fairly small portion of haddock and chips that doesn't even include tea, bread or peas is obscene, especially in a place that should be getting it's fish from the local catch

Encouraged by nothing less than a stellar experience at other place we were dining the night before on our second trip to Mallaig (the Cabin) , we decided to give another place a try tonight, for our final evening meal on this trip. We decided on take away fish supper.... Big mistake. Huge. We are still shell-shocked by the £15 we had to pay each for a measly portion of a handful of chips and a small fish. The quality (def not fresh) and size of the food certainly didn't justify the astronomical charge for it. Save yourself a disappointing meal and choose elsewhere to dine!

We ate here in July 23 having come into town on the Harry Potter Express. Was it a mistake to choose one of the first restaurants we came to ? I was hoping for fresh juicy seafood straight out of the harbour and into the kitchen. Unfortunately the langostine were plentiful but rather dry and I suspect were not freshly cooked. The scallops were better but a little overcooked. Service was quick and friendly Later we discovered that other local restaurants had similar dishes for about £5 a plate less. So maybe they are better value.

Sadly, this is not a proper fish and chip venue. The Haddock was lightly battered and really nice but it was served with cheap standard pub chips, not hand cut / cooked chippy chips. Kids Cheese and Tomato pizza was a cheapo Chicago town microwave pizza that cost £3 for a pack of 2 in a local spar shop. Fussy you might think..! Ok so the bit that really stung was the cost: 2 x Haddock and Chips 1 x kids Haddock and chips 1 x kids pizza 2 x beers 2 x soft drinks £72-50 Make your own mind up. The service was great, friendly staff. But the company itself are just ripping off tourists sadly.

Mallaig was the main stop for our Jacobite Steam Train Ride. With time (1.5 hrs) just for a quick lunch, we came to Fishmarket after another seafood restaurant didn't have room for two of us. Though packed as well, the very nice lady manager found a spot for us, stating we may have to share the table which was fine. Though busy as a bee, she made time to explain the menu, took our orders, and made sure we got our food quick knowing that we had to catch the return train. As vegetarians, there's not much choice in Mallaig as a fishing town, but we ordered their veggie option the Broccoli, Carrot & Coconut Curry with chips to takeaway and was very disappointed ☹️. It was literally just boiled veg with a watery curry-like drizzle with onion on top and chips were not the best either. We know they're quality is probably in the fij products but for £13 quid each it was a bit of a rip off for what we got. We would have been better off paying just for chips for £3 and curry sauce. Had we ordered this in the restaurant I would have asked for a refund and left. But it was the only dinner option left at 8pm on a Thursday. Veggies be warned!

After checking the reviews online, we decided to book the Fish Market for a late lunch after making the journey from remote Rannoch to Mallaig by train. This was really a good move. The fresh seafood menu was extensive. Usually, we search out some decent fish or seafood from a menu but this time we were totally spoilt for choice and struggled to decide. Eventually we chose langoustines to share as a starter and my husband went for the mussels as a main. I had the scallops with chorizo and without doubt, the tastiest I have ever had. We ended up sharing all of the meals between us and could not fault it. Washed down with a lovely chilled bottle of rose wine, the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly, advising us of different options on the menu. Excellent scallops. Veins not removed from the prawns. Terribly overpriced.

Ignore the negative comments! Our lunch was divine. From mussels to fish and chips to the scallops…it was all very fresh and delicious! Great lunch mid train ride!

We hosted our wedding at the Waterside in June 2024 - it was a lovely & fun day for all, largely due to the help of our wedding coordinator Tiff! She went above & beyond to help me have a picturesque & fun day, I didn't have to worry about the setup or the breakdown - she even saved one of my wedding donuts for me when I never got a chance to have one during the night :) The reason for the loss of a star for the rooms is purely because the honeymoon suite lacked a mini fridge >> which I think would have been really helpful as we had several leftovers + wine we wanted to keep chilled. The loss of the star for service was due to some miscommunication between the hotel bookings & the event coordination, (i.e. after we had paid our deposit, someone on the booking side at the hotel had "force booked" several rooms for the day of the wedding for another guest/party, including the honeymoon suite) - which my husband spoke to the manager about & thankfully they resolved before the day.

We had drinks and a meal yesterday, early evening. The staff were very welcoming and the bar, although small was busy with a good atmosphere. The fish and chips were absolutely delicious; perfectly cooked fish, light batter and the triple cooked chips were the best I’ve ever had. They are dog friendly so we’ll be back next week with our dog. Thank you.

Stay away from from this place I went with my partner and the minute we walked in the restaurant was cold and I had to wear my jacket the full time I was in. The food was tasteless, I have had a better microwave Indian out of Iceland and it came to a whopping £85. Also we asked for one rice and we felt that the owner talked us into getting 2 because they were “small” they definitely were not small one would have been enough for 2 people money grabbing we felt.
