Slow. Nasty and tasteless. Avoid with every being of your heart. The one down by the river is much better I can't recall the name but far tastier.

Just been to chip shop service was great but food was awful fish batter was not cooked underneath it was awful chips were burnt and not a decent portion won't be going back there for twenty one pounds the only decent thing was the bread roll

Haven't been here for a while, it has a great selection of food as well as locally caught fish just off the boat eg monk fish and cod, I had the haddock and it was lovely..... 8 out of 10 for my score... I'll be back.... the picture is the wife's small fish.

Would give this place a minus review if I could. Ordered 2 cheeseburger suppers but didn't expect it to be on a Warburton roll. Thick cheese only half melted and the battered burger was cooked in old oil as were the crunchy over cooked chips! Was starving after a day travelling but ate about a 3rd and binned the rest. Tasted disgusting doesn't even cover it. Would never eat from here again as one of the servers (dark haired) was scratching her head while she was putting salt and vinegar on someone else's order. Boak!

Worst chippy I've ever had. Chips overcooked in dirty oil. Cheeseburger was a battered burger on a tiny Warburton roll . Enough Salt and vinegar for at least one of the chips. Think it's called Robin cause you'll defo feel robbed.

Stopped off after getting the Orkney ferry back in Scrabster. It was busy which is a reflection of its popularity with locals. Good honest food and variety, well priced. Very tasty, thank you.

I asked for sausage and chips with a tub of curry. The half tray of chips i got were tasteless,the 2 sausage were battered which i did not ask for and i did not get my curry. One daughter asked for sausage and chips and hers was the same. Tasteless chips and battered sausage. Another daughter asked for a chicken burger with cheese on and chips. She got a chicken burger with the cheese thrown all over the chips. A lot of money spent for a lot of rubbish. Stay away from here.

We came because of the location and the reviews, we were very friendly and informed about the options available. Good food and well served

Fantastic wee chippy, if you are looking for freshly caught haggis this it the place to go, my daughter had the cheesy box and that was also very tasty, great friendly crazy staff. Highly recommend 👌

Absolutely dire!! The food we got from here was inedible🤮 The fish and chips were cooked in old/overused oil which you could taste along with an overwhelming burnt taste....I don't think there is any care or respect for food by the 'cook'. Just horrible!

We went to day and bought 2 fish suppers., cod as no haddock, for £12 each. The batter was inedible as undercooked, greasy and absolutely foul. Once peeled off and discarded the fish was of an acceptable standard and fresh. However the chips, like the batter, were soft and squidgy, edible but not pleasant if you are looking for something with a bit of texture.

Delicious chips. Great options for deep fried confectionary! Friendly staff. They have vegetarian burgers (unfortunately not the kind I like) and a special of mac and cheese. Would be good if they could do battered halloumi or battered veggie sausages.

Great food, service and banter were excellent. It was busy when I went in and wasn't sure who was taking the orders. When it was my turn to order it was quite a quick turn around. Excellent meals even the dog enjoyed his sausages with his own dinner. 10 out of 10.

I have just visited for a fish supper with curry and it was absolutely delicious. Staff were lovely and very helpful.

Worse fish and chips I’ve eaten in years. Considering that the local fish port at Scrabster is a couple of miles away the fish was not fresh. At £12.50 with chips it’s terrible, save your money and go to the Ulbster Arms Hotel at Halkirk, for £17 you can have a sit down dinner fish and chips, the fish is so fresh that it melts in your mouth.

It’s okay, taste was good, but I’ve tried better so can’t say it’s the best.

The best haddock and chips I have probably ever had the batter was superb and the fish perfectly cooked fresh and moist as a southerner I also had a battered Mars Bar … tasted fantastic definitely recommend if passing through Thurso on the NC500

Having no choice but to venture out of my Premier Inn hotel because the kitchen has been closed since Sunday, due to a flood. This gem of a fish bar was just a little walk away. Had the fish and chips with curry sauce, outstanding 😋

Stunning sausage supper and a battered snickers for afters. Friendly staff too. 10/10. Was quite busy for a Saturday night and I understand why! We were stopping over in Thurso for a night whilst travelling the NC500 and we thoroughly enjoyed our tea.

best chips in whole of thurso and great little outdoor space undercover with benches to sit and eat if raining BUT the one blond lady there was quite ignorant, i said hi no hello back just said yes, then just stood there at till not saying the price just starred at me, I tried again and said thank you have a nice day, she responded by saying nothing and walking off maybe she having an off day but not nice won't be going again no matter how nice food is

Visited twice over the course of 2 days, first visit was the evening of 11/10, and ordered a large haddock chips and curry, despite how busy it was, I was served pretty much straight away and had my order after about 5 minutes, was the nicest haddock and chips I've had for a long time! I also visited today 12/10, and ordered a large chips & gravy, the black haired lady at the till was really friendly and even apologised because i had a little wait for them, I love the little coveted up section outside next door to the fish shop, well covered and had some music on too

Absolutely shocking food. These places blame the economy when it’s not, it’s the food they are cooking. Frozen fish, no excuse next to the sea. I’ve been up with gut rot all evening and I only had a quarter of the fish. This is not the economy why these places are so bad” it’s the owners and poor quality standards of business they are running. This was very poor quality fish and the chips. Stay away.

Worst cod and chips I have ever had

Stopped by on our first night in Thurso. Got a large haddock supper and a white pudding supper. £16 for the two. Both were delicious! Maybe the best chippie we’ve had (were from Edinburgh). Resisting the temptation to go back each night for the same.

Sat outside to eat our food. The condiment containers were dirty and greasy. The table needed a wipe. The food had lots of black bits from the fryer. The batter on the white pudding was like leather. Not a good eating experience.

We had a lovely, super fresh and great fish to eat. You can't get it fresher! We enjoyed it. The fish & Chip Shop has a tiny spot beside and outside to sit and eat there.

They only or want to provide service to their friends. If you know anyone who works in the restaurant, you can jump into the queue and get your foods faster.

Battered sausage was better than expected and well priced. Chips, pretty decent. Nice touch with covered outdoor seating to nosh down on your food.

Out of this world. Fresh with no after taste. Haddock was crispy and chips were crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. Highly recommend. Would go back and I did the next night and had the Black Pudding. Yumm

So disappointed after a very long wait for the worst fish I have had from a fish and chip shop. Very very dry with no taste and just about inedible. Overcooked. Chips were good and husband enjoyed his chicken nuggets.

So my husband and I decided to have fish and chips in thurso. And although i have had better chips it was really nice and good value. Even the deep fried veggie burger was good. Also it was reasonably priced

We shared haddock and chips. The fish was chunky and the batter tasty. The chips were well cooked and had a good texture. We scarfed all this down us in a park at the top of the street as the sun was setting. Can’t beat it!

Probably the worst fish and chips ever had. Fish was so greasy when opened the box a white fat slime was o the side walls, my wife had sausage and chips and the sausage was barely coated in batter and hard on the out side and uncooked in the middle, chips looked and tasted like yesterdays reheated. So disappointed and expensive uneaten dinner. If we had not take away your accommodation would of took them back and demanded our money back. Not recommended by us.

My favourite chippy, always enjoy stopping here on the way to or from Orkney. I normally struggle to eat fish and chips, but at Robin's their food is light and not at all greasy. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Thurso!

Absolutely disgusting food, macaroni pie was burnt black with a sprinkling of cheese to hide it. Large Haddock supper was at best medium.. And that's being generous. The chips look (and tasted) like they had been cooked in oil that hasn't been changed this millennium. Avoid this place at all costs.

I would highly recommend NOT going here. Fish was hard and tasteless. Might have been old. Given we were on the coast I was expecting a tasty fish. Cost £10 each. Very disappointing.

Very busy, food very expensive £3.50 for a small portion of chips. One of our party had sausage and chips which he said were horrible. Staff appeared to be to busy to offer much in the way of service. I won't go there again

The fish was freshly cooked and quite nice however the chips were like cardboard and inedible as they must have been in the warmer for some time.

Hands down, the best chips in the area! And there's some strong competition for that accolade! We always choose Robins and recommend them highly to our guests. Still awesome and now accept card payment too.

Work up Thurso at least twice a year, always go to Robins. Always good. Can be a bit tight with chips but other than that, Bang on!

First bit of disappointment was that they didn’t serve cod, so large haddock ordered. I asked for fish to be separated from chips and said yes to salt n vinegar on chips, fish got it too. Once I had got over that let down time to tuck in. The fish was nice and the batter nice and thin but I think it had been there a while. The chips must of been cooked in overdue for a change oil with all the black bits on them and were overcooked.

Stopped by here on a Saturday at 4pm. Chips were disgusting, bone dry inside and lukewarm. They looked and tasted like they had been reheated from the previous evening - as if anyone would do such a thing......this is the second time that I’ve had food that was not fit to eat from here and there most certainly will not be a third time. £5 for chips and curry sauce. Curry sauce was fine. Time to start treating your customers better.

HORRIBLE! Chips taste like they were cooked hours ago. Fish was okay. Supervisor (blonde lady) is extremely rude. I assume she must be family of owner, because NO ONE would employ this lady. If you see her behind the counter - RUN!!

Not the most inspiring place from the outside, no indication they took card - they do. Scampi supper best I've had and under£8, shame it closes relatively early, but I was hungry at 6pm

The fish was beautifully tasty but had been in the warmer for a bit so not exactly freshly cooked so much so that the forks provided broke when trying to use them. The chips were nice though but not exactly plentiful and the whole package was quite expensive for what it was. Shame about the pre cooked fish and cost as it spoiled the experience somewhat.

On arrival in town the previous day we saw a large queue at this carry-out. Called in next evening for a wonderful supper. Quality fish, well cooked, and presented. Friendly and cheery staff. Well priced.

Driving the NC500 around Easter bank holiday, googled fish&chips shops in the area and liked the sound of this one. So pleased we picked this one, we had an Easter special salmon supper, it was the most delicious fresh fish in the crisppiest batter...the best fish we have ever had. The chips portion didn't seem very big at first compare to other shops but the amount of fish we had, we couldn't physically eat any more chips so the portion was perfect.

Miss this chippy as their fish was to die for soo delicious as it was soo fresh

On route driving the NC500 we googled a good fish and chip shop, and this one came up unfortunately this wasn’t. The fish was cooked perfectly but the batter was just soggy except for the ends. The chips were like cardboard, been cooked to long and left sat too long. For £16 this is outrageous! My advice is to ask locals, wish we had.

Good value and tasty fish and chips. The staff were very friendly and made a fuss of our dogs. Would recommend to anyone looking for decent fish and chips in Thurso. The curry sauce was also amazing!

Always been a great chippy, the staff always polite and welcoming. Prices are cheap enough and the portion sizes are pretty good. Has always been clean and tidy, even when busy. Almost everything is cooked to order so may have to wait 5mins, but well worth it though as it'll be fresh and hot. Has daily specials like fresh local cod supper for £9, the cod was AMAZINGLY fresh and there was plenty of it, (*the batter is the thin type normal for Scotland and not like the thicker type often found in England*). Does the battered Mars bar and Cadbury Creme Egg.. personally I'd stick to the normal chip shop fare and enjoy a well priced, well cooked, good sized meal. Also popular with the locals which tells you all you need to know!

Best chippy I've had in a very long time!!!! So gutted I stay in Inverness and won't get another chance to eat there again. We were a large group of people and they served us pronto with delicious Fish supper! Amazing!!!!!

Absolutely revolting! Chips were bone dry, the batter was as tough as leather and the fish was way over cooked. I went in at 4pm, when they open, so I assume this had been "cooked" within a few minutes prior to the shop opening. The mind boggles, how on earth are these people receiving 5 star reviews? I can only assume the "locals" are drunkards or halfwits (or a combination of both) no way does this joint even warrant one star.

Visited on a Saturday and ordered the special (cod). It was freshly cooked and then served to me about 10 minutes later. What I was served was a burnt piece of battered fish, swimming in grease with lacklustre chips. The best bit was the pot of curry sauce I ordered as a side.

Brilliant fish&chips cooked by using a coal fire to heat the oil. Reasonable price and absolutely delicious. You will probably have to queue. Beamish I've been 3 times and loved it each time. Tickets are valid for a year from date of purchase. Loads of free parking. Sat nav will take you there. I recommend it.

Ordered fish supper x 2 and pie supper. Fish batter was over cooked , as was pie , chips were greasy and half cooked. Will not be back.
