The Gardeners London Don't ! Hesitate ! Good if overpriced tapas followed by an average meal of standard pub-grub was spoiled by an awful serving of fish and chips and mushy peas. The oft-re-heated batter which constituted the "fish" was about 95% of the mass of said "fish", and the level-teaspoonful of mushy peas was obviously too embarrassed to appear on the same dish. We skipped puds, paid and left. THIS IS THE ORIGINAL REVIEW - NO CHANGES.

I came here to do some work... Joanne and chef looked after me while on site... Very friendly and accommodating... The place was exceptionally cleaned throughout to a very high standard 🙂(photos) Lots of inside and outside seating and eating areas, a large covered smoking area too. Quaint colourful courtyard seating shown in photos. Kitchens and prep area standards are very important to me and Chef was busy preparing food, you could tell he was taking a pride in the food he was preparing... You can clearly see the kitchen through the service hatch and again very bright and very clean. They have a pizza area just off the garden... This sounds great... It was too early for this to be on but it's nice to know it's there. Great decor and an open fire with cosy arm chairs... What more could you want on a cold day Finally a huge selection of wines and spirits All in all a great place to visit for food or drinks. 😋😋

I have to say that though the food was really good , the service was terrible , who lacked training or the ability to carry out a simple task . Three times they got the drink order wrong and then issues with paying . Disappointing that they seem to have had little to no training . 3 stars rating is fair given the food is nice but has put us off going back .

Fantastic meal on Christmas eve. The staff couldn’t be more helpful, the chef even came out as he recognised us when we made the booking. Great vibe and brilliant meal. Highly recommend

This place is great. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with a smile from the bar staff. The restaurant Manager then seated us at a gorgeous table and explained the menu. We all had the pork belly and it was so good. The staff were very attentive and it was the best meal and afternoon before we flew back to Australia.

I went to the Gardeners for Sunday lunch recently and all I can say is it was excellent. We had 2 roast beef and 2 chicken and we all loved everything. I had the chicken which was tasty and cooked perfectly, crispy roast potatoes, good proper gravy, and a good selection of vegetables. Two then had pudding - we loved the small pudding and hot drink combo offer. To top it all off, service was excellent - really friendly and just what you would want from a local pub. We will definitely be back, thank you.

Great place for dinner and drinks. Went on a Monday night for the set price menu (2 courses for £20) and nothing disappointed- steak was excellent as were the desserts. Service was efficient and friendly. Will be back.

Lovely food and great atmosphere. A few items not available on the menu but pleased to be told these up front and with good humour. Well done Rosanna for making our visit such am enjoyable one.

I have been a number of times since Patrick and Tracey took over. We usually go for Sunday Roasts as they are a cut above most other pub roasts and today was no exception . Great service (a rarity in British Pubs) fantastic food and the cask ale was on point - cellar cool and nicely conditioned. Nice pub wine list and some classic cocktails too. Highly recommended local pub!

The Gardeners pub is an authentic independently owned absolute gem as are the owners Patrick and Tracey! The gardeners stands tall among other in the area pubs that are either mass owned (young’s) and lacking character who serve very basic food which is not prepped fresh and is straight from freezer to fryer to plate! The gardeners offer a delicious, freshly prepared menu that rivals local restaurants on taste and choice and I’m very pleased to see as a regular myself the popularity of this local pub continue to be recognised for the food, service and a good a great atmosphere to meet up with your mates and a cheeky beverage after a long dog walk! Highly recommend the truffled gnocchi for a light snack or schnitzel or a pie for dinner DELICIOUS.

Visited the Gardeners last weekend with family for lunch and cannot fault the place. There's always a warm welcome and the food is fresh and tasty. The level of service from all the staff was exceptional. I wish all pubs were like this one. Thank you chef, front of house and all at the Gardeners.

Decided to go for a change and revisit the Gardeners after their refurb! Beautiful decor, delicious food and fabulous service! What more could you want! Olive (our frenchie) also had a bowl of water waiting for her arrival and her takeaway box of good to take home! ❤️❤️

We're so delighted to discover The Gardener's Arms has had a fabulous revamp and is now a wonderful gastro pub, run by experienced landlords, serving really good food and excellent beer. What a bonus for the area.

I visited it today and was very pleasantly surprised. A long menu and the three dishes that I tried were delicious. Innovative flavors. I really recommend it.

Fui a tomar un trago rápido con mi amigo y terminé quedándome demasiado tiempo. Excelente servicio, el gerente (Cathy espero haber acertado el nombre) totalmente atractivo y con un ambiente tan positivo.Los sistemas en su lugar lo hicieron sentir relajante y cómodo, nos sentimos totalmente seguros. El personal tiene esto clavado y espero que el negocio vaya viento en popa. Sin duda volveremos y aunque debe ser un trabajo duro con todo el servicio de mesa, nadie hizo que pareciera una tarea.Bien hecho y gracias por una agradable velada.

Comimos aquí un grupo de 9 un martes por la noche. Cada curso llegó individualmente y tomó una edad absoluta. Mi comida tardó 56 minutos y lo supe por el tiempo en el recibo. Mis colegas tomaron 1 hora y 10 minutos. No hubo tanto como una disculpa hasta que preguntamos cuál era el problema que se nos dijo que solo había 1 chef. En primer lugar, incluso 1 chef debería poder trabajar más rápido que eso y, en segundo lugar, por qué nunca nos explicaron la situación hasta que tuvimos que preguntar. No hay disculpas reales u oferta de una bebida. Nada. Servicio desesperado absoluto.

Boozer local con una moderna y brillante y moderna moda hecha por Ram Brewery (Youngs). Menú estándar de favoritos de pub. Los sándwiches con papas fritas cortadas a mano parecían enormes, por lo que optaron por Whitebait rebozado (6. 00) que venía con una pequeña olla de salsa tártara. Youngs PA fue claro y brillante a un razonable 3. 90Siempre será un pub / bar con comida en lugar de un restaurante del que hay muchos a poca distancia a pie. Si te gustan los boozers locales, este es un buen ejemplo. Un montón de asientos en la carretera al aire libre con algunos protegidos de los elementos. Justo al lado del famoso pub gastronómico Earl Spencer con el que no hay comparación.

We had a great meal here on Saturday night. I would recommend the pork chop...it is huge! Special mention to Jacob.

Vine aquí con 7 de mis amigos para un asado hace un par de semanas. ¡No hace falta decir que el rosbif fue uno de los mejores que he probado! Todos estábamos encantados con la calidad y el tamaño de las porciones de nuestra comida, además del nivel de servicio brindado por un personal tan amable. ¡Definitivamente regresaré cuando regrese a la zona!

Mi esposa y yo llegamos a The Gardeners el sábado por la noche y recibimos una buena bienvenida de parte del alegre personal. Hemos disfrutado de varios almuerzos dominicales aquí en el pasado reciente y pedimos el menú para que nos dijeran que solo había pizzas disponibles. Exactamente lo mismo sucedió en una noche de sábado hace aproximadamente un mes. ¡Qué extraño para un pub gastronómico!El área del bar era física y atmosféricamente fría y la chimenea no estaba encendida. El especial de Young se quedó plano, se parecía al agua marrón, después de una boca llena (no estoy seguro de qué podrían pensar John Young y la reina madre) pero el vino era bueno.Llevamos nuestros 70 gastos al pub de al lado y disfrutamos de un par de horas agradables y acogedoras con una deliciosa comida.Estamos contentos de regresar para el almuerzo del domingo, pero daremos la oportunidad de ver sábados en el futuro.

Un pub muy tradicional con una decoración muy original (ver fotos).Los propietarios hacen todo lo posible para proponer animaciones y eventos especiales.Una buena selección de cervezas de barril, así como una selección de deliciosas comidas (incluida una sin gluten).La música no es demasiado alta, por lo que la familia idealmente podría pasar un tiempo en los sofás; -)

We stopped off here a couple of time for an afternoon pint. The pub is very homely with friendly and obliging staff.Unfortunately we did not get chance to try the food as they do not serve between 1500-1800.Nonetheless, I can recommend this pub for a good pint and a warm welcome

We all had the roast chicken Sunday lunch. The amount of food on the plate was huge, and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The prices are reasonable, and the staff are lovely. We will definitely go back.

Sunday lunch - staff were lovely, drinks were prompt, orders taken efficiently.The food when it came was very variable : excellent roast potatoes and mustard parsnips, really quite bad Yorkshire puddings (more like a sponge cake!)Two of us avoided ordering the roast beef as pub roast beef can be a bit iffy. That was a wise decision : over cooked, stringy. Mostly left. Two of table complained ;and they’re very English, they don’t complain.

Lovely staff in fact too. Sadly the food was very poor indeed. We had baked figs with goat cheese which was bland and whitebait which was ok. Then we had a fennel and bean tarte which was clearly microwaved and tasteless. The salad seemed to have been washed in sea water

Los jardineros ha tenido un par de remodelaciones en el último par de años y es un agradable pub. Es bueno ver que el principal Earl Spencer Carvery Roast" casi al lado ha significado los jardineros ha aumentado su juego. El personal es muy amable y buena variedad de bebidas. El menú es típico jóvenes aunque tienen un horno de pizza pero sólo parecía tener un lunes creo - sería mejor si esto todos los días (ya que no todos nosotros como un asado de domingo! ! ) En general es un buen pub, el único inconveniente es que la zona de fumadores es básicamente todo el frente incluyendo los nuevos asientos fuera ponen. Soy fumador pero apreciar cada vez más la mayoría de la gente no, así que, por favor, puede separar el director de la sección de fumadores o posiblemente el patio en la parte trasera - confía en mí, tendría una clientela más grande viniendo una vez (sobre todo familias) saben que todo el frente es de no fumadores

Este es un muy buen pub cuando el dueño está allí. Pero dos veces recientemente hemos tenido muy mal las comidas preparadas aquí (incluso dijo chef y no cambia) y me di cuenta de que el propietario estaba lejos ese día. Muy decepcionado, porque el servicio y la calidad de la comida es sobre la consistencia, y si es irregular, hace una vuelta difícil. . . Espero que el chef hace su acto juntos, porque cuando él es bueno, él es tan bueno. maldita Pero parece bastante a menudo, él simplemente no podía preocuparse menos. . .

After various pints and snacks in the new new Gardeners we all went in for une soirée des amis local to Southfields. Absolutely fantastic service and the usual 2/1 fish'n'chips!!! Great work outside and many more seats and heaters for winter. They took great care of all 16 of us.

This was my first visit to this pub. We chose the Gardeners over the Earl Spencer (next door) as it looked cleaner and newer inside and also the TA reviews for the Gardeners were more positive. The decor in the Gardeners was lovely!

I haven't been to this place for about four years, and all I can say is wow! What a difference. Really tastefully refurbished, friendly staff and amazing food. Possibly one of the best Sunday roasts I've ever had!

4 of us came here last month. The roasts were great, cooked lovely 3 of us had the half chicken, great service, this has changed management and a lot better than previous owners,would recommend eating here.

We were so impressed with the Sunday roast dinner here. We had the beef and the pork belly with crackling and both were mouth wateringly delicious! Fantastic massive crispy roast potatoes and giant Yorkshire puddings. The food was clearly good quality, very flavoursome and the service was very quick.

Revisited the revamped pub early on Saturday evening. Enjoyed a sharing plate of nachos in the relaxing outside area at the rear of the building before going to our table in the restaurant area. Our party had burger, fish and a particularly tasty steak. Everything was superb. The only downside was that we had no room left for one of the delicious looking puddings.The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the pub clean and well decorated.Hope to visit again on our next trip to the area. Highly recommended.

There's quite a few pubs in Southfields but the Gardeners is our favourite. Best local pub food made with quality ingredients, unpretentious atmosphere, friendly staff, spacious and relaxing ambience, and plenty of board games for you to choose from. Following a recent renovation, the place is given a breath of fresh air. We love it, both before and after the revamp.

Finally discovered the best Sunday Roast (I've tried a lot) and The Gardeners is the best. The revamp looks great, nice seating area on a sunny day or a clean, comfortable pub style feel indoors. Tastecard can be used everyday apart from Sunday which is a bonus as the menu is as delicious! Great food, staff & value!

Working on site nearby so popped in for the obligatory Sunday Roast. Beautifully presented and the chicken was very nice, unfortunately the potatoes were over cooked and way too crispy.Very welcoming people and a nice little vibe.

We visited this pub before its renovation and it was more than disappointing; It now has had a new lease of life and is so delicious we keep coming back for more. One of our favourites is the chicken and chorizo dish! It is layered with sweet potato and cooked to perfection. I would recommend to that anyone staying in the Wandsworth area go visit to get a tasty affordable meal.

Very chilled out pub with friendly staff. Always made to feel welcome. Had Sunday lunch here a few times and always been great and good value. Visited since the refit but only for drinks - wow looks great and as welcoming as ever.

Visited the Gardeners on Sunday 21st with my girlfriend for a Sunday Roast. Warm welcome by the two guys serving at the bar as we entered. Ordered drinks and food at the bar and offered to sit anywhere we liked. Quick service and our food arrived. Girlfriend opted for the chicken and I for the beef. Packed full of vegetables, good chunks of meat, Yorkshire puds and mustard flavor gravy. Awesome tasting and fresh. Was asked if the food was ok which was a nice touch.Both finished off with desert, Eton Mess and Apple & apricot crumble with a pot of custard. Was certainly full on leaving. Will be going back this Sunday and will be inviting friends for sure. Recommend!

Wife and I popped out for a bit and beer last Friday and had some snacks at the bar. Surprisingly quiet for a Friday but food was v tasty.

Hadn't been for a while but decided to try the roast here again recently. It was absolutely delicious! Generous portion, very well priced for what we got, and all nicely cooked. The staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful either - really impressed. Will definitely go back for the roast again!

Popped in here for a quick drink and were tempted to squid rings and baked Camembert. Very tasty. Drinks reasonably priced. Nice atmosphere. Small outdoor covered seating area. Went back the following day to meet friends for a drink. Good service, friendly staff.

Four of us met and had an excellent lunch here last week and were pleased with the food and the service. We had roast beef and roast pork, very generous portions, perfectly cooked and particularly nicely seasoned vegetables, good gravy. We all went for sticky toffee pudding; more toffee sauce would have gilded the lily, it left the light sponge a little dry,my only small criticism. But it was all fairly priced for the lovely quality, and the kitchen knows its stuff.. Book, especially on Sunday, it fills up fast. Great atmosphere. About £22 a head give or take

We went with 3 generations of the family to keep happy. All had a great time. The atmosphere was great - very lively and friendly whether you knew people or not. Bar staff were great and food was excellent and well priced. Great fish and chips. Good selection of beers. We'll be back soon.

I went one evening with daughter. We both had burgers which looked fabulous but were almost inedible as they were so salty! Staff said they would feed it back to chef and apologised. Doubt I would eat there again but staff were very friendly, so not entirely put off.

After visiting this pub for drinks with friends, one of the bar staff (Jaz) appeared to get annoyed with one individual however, blamed all others in the group for their behaviour. Instead of handling the situation professionally, proceeded to involve other drinkers in her poor handling of the situation. It would appear that after spending our money we are no longer welcome. Sounds as though some people should work in other industries.Not a place to go to if you want to have fun, spend money and enjoy yourself

Just wanted to leave a review because Jas the bar tender was so lovely and helpful. We came for a quick family snack with 2 young girls who aged 4 and 6 tend to be a little fussy about their food. We all managed to find something to suit but Jas made the visit as she could'nt have been any more friendly and pleasant. Working in a pub is hard work and working with the public can be an awful experience at times (as do I). So just wanted to make sure she is recognised for her hard work and deserves credit (give her a pay rise!).

Extremely friendly staff. Delicious succulent burgers. Worth a visit if you're hungry and in the area. Nice clean pub.

Great local pub.. friendly staff, decent prices and a reasonable wine list. Its my daughters local and she recommended the Sunday Roast @ 9.95 with a bloody Mary for 5p. The food was absolutely lovely- just as if it had been cooked at home with great roast potatoes, Yorkshires, parsnips and lovely beef and trimmings. Loved it!!

Booked a table for 27 people with no problem. Needed to preorder but the food came out when requested and was absolutely delicious. Great Sunday roast with plenty of vegetables. The service was perfect and always served with a smile no matter how busy the bar got. Jas who served our food and drinks is a diamond and made our day really special.

Nothing pretentious but a traditional London pub serving Youngs beer, which is hard to beat. Good bar service and pub snacks are well priced and acceptable. Maybe a bit heavy on the bread

I often come to this wonderful gem hidden in Southfields. It is a great place where one can feel at home. What makes it even better is the food they serve, with everything in the menu been absolutely fantastic. I always have more than 2 dishes. My secret pub

On business in the area, myself and a colleague popped in for a bite to eat at lunchtime. The place was very busy with local office workers, but despite this, the service was quick and attentive. I ordered a Falafel Burger and Chips and my companion ordered a Grilled Halloumi Salad. Both dishes were generous in size, tasted fresh and were a bargain, as we ordered the lunch special of two dishes for £12. There isn't a great deal in the way of decent places to eat in this part of town, so this was a real find! I'll definitely return next time i'm down this way.

Sunday is roast day and the Gardeners in Merton Road is the perfect place, a bloody Mary and roast for under £12.00 is good value both were excellent. the service was superb and unhurried, we all enjoyed a perfect pub roast. We have tried several spots from Antelopes to Wheatsheafs but this has to be the best roast in south London and no one knows! The vegetables are sublime, cauliflower cheese with a subtly creamy sauce but a cheddar kick, roast parsnips as sweet as honey, roast potatoes and carrots cooked to perfection as well as swede that beautiful squashy vegetable that just complements all great roasts. I had pork with delicious home made applied sauce. Suzi and Barnaby had roast beef and demolished it. This is old fashioned cavern dining, I've eaten at Simpson's in the Strand and this comes close. Everyone enjoyed the meal and the beer was in tip-top condition when I washed the meal down with a delicious locally brewed pint. The bloody Mary's were seasoned to perfection but thoughtfully, for those who want to blow their heads off with tabasco, there is a serve yourself kit on the bar. You can add whatever you think is missing. I remember going to various places in the West End in search of just this experience, a BM, a roast and a pint and a chat. This is the best place to have all four. Okay it's August but sometimes only a roast will suffice. (I hear their Mexican con carne is pretty impressive, too).
