The welcome and service is wonderful. The location and ambiance are superb. It was a chilly evening so the heat lamps lit up our table. It was a birthday celebration and the person whose birthday it was had never been before. She was thrilled with the place and her sea bass. The starters were generous and delicious, the main courses perfectly executed and the puddings of fondant and sorbet sublime. We were well looked after in this authentic French restaurant and they even had Pernod available for the aperitif. We had a carefree evening with just enough attention and fantastic food.

Almost two weeks have passed since our wedding at Le Gothique and we are still over the moon with how amazingly everything went! We found Le Gothique back in December and we booked it almost straight away as it matched all the requirements for our July wedding. Stunning location, affordable wedding package and last but definitely not least, delicious food! We communicated with Mark over email and then we met Andrew and they were both great throughout the all process. From answering promptly to our emails, to showing us around when we first visited, to making us feel like VIPs during our wedding menu tasting and finally to executing perfectly every aspect of our big day last week! Our guests were so happy with the wedding meal and lots of our London friends thanked us for introducing them to such a wonderful restaurant to which they will return in the future. We also appreciate how attentive everyone was with regards to some of our guests with serious allergies. A special thank you to all of Le Gothique waiting team, they were so lovely, professional yet friendly and kept a smile on their faces throughout an undoubtedly long day. Once again, many of our guests commented on how great the customer service was during the all day. We must not forget the chefs and kitchen team for preparing such a delicious meal, we choose Tuna tartare&goat cheese salad as starters, gnocchi&confit de canard as mains, raspberry tart&sorbets as desserts. We cannot really recommend a specific dish as they were all great! Thank you again for such a special day.

It’s taken a year to write our review following our amazing wedding at Le Gothique in June 2023. Great people, great place, wonderful food and they were a good mix of accommodating and educating so we ended up making the right choices for our special day. Andrew was great, worked with us for our requirements, always offering advice, listening and accepted when we wanted specific things. It’s a great venue with outdoor space as well as indoor bar and seating, all set within a wonderful historic Gothique building. We held the ceremony in the garden with all seats supplied and Andrew worked with our design agency who set up flowers, archways, seats covers etc. The garden offers choices on seating layouts and arrangements but we used the central tree as out focal point for the ceremony. We brought in London Strings duet who are highly recommended for live classical background. After the ceremony and whilst photos were being taken we served drinks and canapes which we had carefully selected with the team at Le Gothique. The venue has tables and chairs and you have great space outside with overhead covers to arrange how you wish. We had our decorators set out the tables and worked closely with Andrew to ensure all worked for the final seating plan. The food we had chosen (a few weeks before in a tasting session from the whole menu! A real highlight!) was delightful, everything arrived promptly and exactly as we had seen it before. We had allowed guests to have unlimited wines, chosen some specific wines before with the team at Le Gothique and they went down a treat. Their flexibility as the event timings ran late and fitting in speeches was terrific. We brought in lighted signs, a 3D rotating camera system and other specific items which were all well accommodated. Finally we brought in a live band, who were amazing! Andrew has their details… Initially we were disappointed once we realised the band were not allowed to play outside in the garden as discussed in the wedding planning meetings. But actually the band playing indoors by the bar was just great. It worked so well and guests really enjoyed the ability to stay outside in the quieter area or come in for dancing up close to the live band who were busy with requests. We even had the bar staff dancing! The Le Gothique team allowed us to bring in outside caterers (Brazilian supper menu) to complement their own food for supper. Overall, a great venue, amazing for an outdoor wedding and to bring in live classical music and bands, perfect for up to 100 people and we found really well priced. The Le Gothique team all worked very hard to make our day special, not only on the day but at the build up and we cannot thank them enough. Highly recommended and the best day of our lives. Oh and many of our guests said it was the best wedding they had been to! 30deg sunshine and the Provence rose did help also 😊 Thanks Andrew, Mark and the Le Gothique team in making our day so special and memorable. Great job

What a truly magical place this is ! Le Gothique has a quirky bohemian atmosphere . The food is excellent and there is an upstairs dining area and a heated courtyard area outside . The bar itself is full of character with fun staff and a great selection of fine wines and beers . The place is known in the past for hosting a range of celebrities . Andrew the general manager couldn’t be more accommodating when we brought a large party in for Sunday lunch . Gabi was also very attentive with all our guests . I would definitely recommend le Gothique as a fabulous place to dine , have a drink at the bar or indeed to book for a private party or large group of diners . It also caters for weddings which is something we may return for in the future !

As you can see, this is how rude they are to prospective customers, also if you scroll through all their 1 star reviews you can see them arguing with everyone. Also we were enquiring for the 30th of April 2026, which is a Thursday not a Saturday but they’re obviously not in possession of a calendar. By the time they had responded (8 days later) we had already booked another venue. The reviews are 1 star because of the mocking and rude attitude which you can all clearly see.

They have terrible customer service, we were inquiring about a wedding brochure via an app and sent in an automated message asking if they could provide us with information about what they offer and their prices, and instead of providing the information, they instead ignored the message for 8 days. When they did finally respond, instead of providing the brochure, they decided to mock up for booking our wedding 2 years in advance, and when we pointed out they were being rude, they doubled down and blamed us for the app that we had contacted them through for charging them for their services. We barely interacted with them and it was still a terrible experience, I would dread to think what they would be like to actually plan a wedding with, I would strongly advise anyone considering booking an event with them to look elsewhere, as you will likely be insulted, mocked, and treated poorly overall. EDIT: Ok, a few edits here. First of all, I had no issue with you not booking our wedding. As was pointed out in our previous interaction, we had already booked a venue which we are very very happy with before we received a response from Le Gothique. Our issue was with the customer service that was provided, which was why in the review, I have only rated the service, and left the food and the atmosphere unrated. I'm glad that they've responded, as it allows people to see exactly how they speak to customers, which was the point of my review, so thanks, its much appreciated!

This is a great restaurant with delicious duck and chicken; wonderful starters, beautifully prepared. Classic French cuisine in quirky, sedate surroundings. This restaurant is the cognoscenti’s secret so I feel guilty letting people know about it. Enter by the gate by the 219 stop on Trinity Road and as you enter the building things change. The decor is eclectic with a mezzanine area full of white tablecloths and burgundy dining chairs; candles on the table and a wonderful warm atmosphere. The wine list, like the food, provides good value and well-chosen wines. Love classic French food, you have to try Le Gothique!

A wonderful evening - the ambience was amazing - a real fin de siecle feel with a modern twist. Andrew kept our table although we were running late. The food was classic French with a modern twist. We had the assiette de burrata and charcuterie to start, the poulet saltimbocca and the confit de canard. All three were delicious as was the cheese we had to end with. We enjoyed the marvellous meal with a delightful Côtes du Rhône. Everything was wonderful from the service to the final glass of Sauternes at the end of the meal. For a French meal in south London, this has to be the best.

Le Gothique hosted our wedding last Saturday. It was amazing and we couldn’t have asked for more. We chose Le Gothique as we’d tried the amazing food and we knew it would be a beautiful but unique venue too. Friends told us it was the best food they’d ever had at a wedding. It was really important to us to have good food that wasn’t just the typical stuff you get at weddings, and they certainly delivered! What was really fantastic though was how communicative, friendly and helpful Andrew was throughout the whole wedding planning process. He remembered everything and was so wise about it all which made us feel a lot calmer. Other venues we spoke to took a couple months to reply to an email, or you’d be speaking to a different person each time who had no idea what was going on. Andrew would get back to us basically immediately which made wedding planning far less stressful. He was so organised and remembered all the little things, like where to put a certain photo or vase, or putting our chocolate favours away for a bit so they wouldn’t melt in the sun. He even came up with some great ideas for the day. It really felt like he wanted us to have the best time - and we did! Something else I found really lovely and special is that they did not try to exploit us for money at all in a wedding industry which often does - their package was so reasonably priced for what it was and any extras we asked for, they gave the best advice to do it in the most efficient way. This meant we had an open bar for all of our guests and everyone was so well fed for such a good price point! I think it’s so important to support smaller, family run businesses and we clearly saw the advantages in this of how personal our wedding day was and how great the support was from the whole team. Their staff were so polite, friendly and hardworking. They worked so hard to feed, tidy up and give drinks to over 100 people. Please please pass my thanks on to absolutely everyone in the Le Gothique team - you all smashed it. Another thing that makes Le Gothique such a uniquely amazing wedding venue is the convenience. Most wedding venues you either have to drive a long way or it’s in central london with no parking. Le Gothique benefits from being near public transport but also having good parking around in it, which made it easier for all our guests. We could also have our ceremony on site so we didn’t need to pay for transport or rush guests around to different venues. It made our wedding feel so much more chill. I would absolutely recommend Le Gothique for any event, and I know we’ll certainly be back for meals and more in the future! :) thank you so much again!

Cannot fault the food, we ate well, stuffed and happy - age 6 - 84 all happy! Hungry so forgot to take pictures, but for my mum's/ Nana's birthday we had a great night, Props to barman/com wait staff/ concierge Andrew; he kept my 6 year old entertained until the full party arrived. Garlic, shallots Pernod prawns were AMAZING. I hate Pernod, so had a brandy substitute and it rocked! Crispy duck, red cabbage and dauphinoise spuds were also amazing although I couldn't fit spuds in. I even swerved pud, needless to say mum and daughter covered that for us with sorbet and tiramisu. Even brother's chicken wrapped in ham saw a clean plate. It was a simple one page menu, which is sometimes better than pages and pages of too many options. There were no kids menu options, but my daughter had a burger and fries, no onions! They forgot 'no onions', but swiftly rectified that for her... The place looked like a haunted house on arrival and it was a tad confusing to access especially on foot, in the dark, but even driving in my brother juggled getting through some tight arches in the dark. It would have been amazing to see it the daylight too. The space felt small for our dining experience, but then we were just 4 and given they host weddings we must have seen a fraction of what's on offer. We booked last minute on a discount deal for food, so the receipt still seemed quite steep on first look - but we ate well and were really well looked after... Nice night had by all...

A hidden gem indeed. Housed in the iconic Royal Victoria Patriotic Building you would never find it! Lovely gastropub, with an unmistakingly French bistro look, the paintings a step back in time. It is almost like being transported to another era. The wall uplighters and candle lights compliment perfectly the thick dark stain wooden tables with a beautiful patina and red velvet/dark brown leather chairs. Very atmospheric and contrasts beautifully with the terrace outside in the courtyard I loved it. Starter of gambas flambee, main confit de canard and fondant au chocolat as dessert. The food is ok, well cooked, the prawns in particular were very tasty, and there's a limited but adequate seleccion of wine, all reasonably priced. The staff are great and the service excellent. Andrew was superb, indeed a gem within the hidden gem. If you are looking for a fine gastronomic experience in a modern Michelin star restaurant, then it's certainly not the place. But if you are looking for a different type of experience, to soak up the feel of an iconic Victorian building and enjoy a romantic meal al fresco then I would certainly recommended. It is different and I personally loved it.

I dined at Le Gothique as part of a wedding reception. The courtyard garden and surroundings are stunning (and on the hottest day of the year too!) We generally all enjoyed our food too (though the red meat was too 'under' for at least three of our 15-strong party, despite them having specified how they wanted the meat cooked. The lesson here is: it's French cooking, so remember how the French like their meat!) My main complaint on this occasion was that the service was painfully slow. On the hottest day of the year so far, I would have appreciated jugs of water being supplied regularly to the table, without us having to constantly request it. They also could have made much more money out of us if the waiting staff had attended us more: we were there for at least five hours and I only had two alcoholic drinks (plus water). Lastly, I would also have appreciated it if the staff had asked those of us who were having the rack of lamb main, how we liked our meat cooked (not just those who ordered entrecote steak). My favourite dish of the day was the goats cheese salad, which included grapes, and sliced apple. I nearly licked my plate clean! I also adored the chocolate fondant dessert, which melted perfectly in the middle. There was silence on the table when we all tucked into dessert! Other diners said they were impressed with the sea bass main, the aubergine caponata starter and the refreshing sorbet dessert.

Heaters in the garden and it's mostly covered so it was a nice warm atmosphere even when it was so cold! Staff were polite and attentive and food was brought out in a timely manner. My only negative, and this is not actually a reflection on the restaurant itself, was that I wish there had been some sort of option to select a smoking or non-smoking area. I spent a lot of my dinner wafting smoke away from our plates from the table behind me. I didn't enjoy my "smoked" gnocchi as much as I wish I could have! We also weren't the only table getting annoyed as they chain smoked their way through the evening. Other than that, had a lovely time, thank you!

Well done, Le Gothique, it didn't feel that you were out of practice!

Fantastic venue. We had a 40th birthday party at Le Gothique and Mark and his team were excellent from first enquiry to after party tidy up. All those who attended had nothing but hugely positive comments about the staff, the food and the venue.

We had planned our little daughter communion in October 2018 and I choose the venue but worried abouth the quality of the food as Italians are demanding guests. We had amazing time. The service is outstanding the food from the little sophisticate canapes starters main were deliciosi and fresh. Sofistication even in presentation of food combined with great people nd service was met. The owner Mark is lovely gentlemen with great sence of humour, who has excellent knowledge of wines and will give you best advise. Highly recommend the chefs the place is a Gotique castle and the quality of food for any venues.

We were married at Le Gothique 10 years ago and had the most amazing day so felt really lucky to be able to come back and celebrate our anniversary with family and friends at the same venue.Mark and his team were really accomodating of our unusual party including the 25 young children who were brilliantly catered for and had the perfect, safe outdoor space to play.Despite the terrible weather (including hail at one point), the friendly staff still managed to host a delicious BBQ and a great time was had by all. There are not many venues in London where you could host this kind of event but Le Gothique continues to be a hidden gem.

Nice venue, food was fine. We were attending a wedding anniversary celebration and Bar B Q. Sadly although it was May the weather was not good, a mix between periods of rain, hail and strong winds with an occasional show of sun but with a mean temp of 7 degrees, quite chilly for the time of year. The marquee outside was open on two sides and some of the patio heaters were either not on or not working. Due to the lack of chairs inside we took some in from the garden and were told off for picking the wrong ones! When the food was served again a few of us decided to eat inside as it was so cold, an older gentleman who I took to be the manager(?) moaned at us for eating inside. Personally he spoilt the whole experience for me, as his continuous scowl would have turned milk sour. Being that the party were the only people in the establishment I don't believe our behaviour in sitting somewhere warm was particularly outrageous. It was a shame!

This is a very unusual and beautiful setting. We arrived when it was snowing on 31.1.19. A fabulous meal - food was delicious and the staff were friendly, thoughtful and unobtrusive. We highly recommend this restaurant for an unusual dining experience.

Absolutely amazing food and service. I came in for dinner with a friend into this hidden restaurant inside a Castle. The athmosphere was cozy, warm and romantic. We’ve had some delicious homemade cheesy croquettes to start followed by a salmon fillet perfectly cooked served with the seasonal vegetables. It was overall a wonderful experience, highly raccomended.

I have visited here a couple of times. Its a lunchtime haunt that has a free car park. So important these days as I have been to places where the car park charges are as great as the meal cost. No such troubles here if you stick to the bargain pasta dishes all priced at £6. The kitchen bang out some very tasty and reasonably priced nosh these days after a long overdue make-over on the menu. Plenty of veggie and vegan stuff. But I think that is to appease the strong local following from the adjacent acting school. Check out the funghi pasta and sun-dried stuffed gnocchi

It's such an over used term "hidden gem" But the term really applies here at Le Gothique The castle like building houses one of the most curious restaurants I have ever visited We ate in the Gothic bar area and were served a truly authentic Mediterranean meal Crab soup Salad Nicoise Confit de Canard and Gnocchi. A short wine list included an amazing Spanish wine called I think Harlequin. But the bottom line is .....check out this left field quirky bar and restaurant.

We've eaten lovely meals here, and, frankly, crap meals. The worst thing is they're our neighbour, and tonight they had a massive firework display that started about 22.15. Worst neighbours you could imagine. Mark, that everyone else seems to love, doesn't give a poo if you complain at your meal, or about their neighbourly behaviour.
