Went to a birthday bash for sons girlfriends 30th. Venue large and well laid out. Plenty of tables and seating and decent sized dance floor. Bar small and could do with more staff however drinks were good value and not much of a wait for service. Staff friendly and courteous. Family and friends had a great time and the place could hold probably 150 people with ease. Parking rubbish however most were drinking so not an issue. Gents toilet upstairs and could do with a revamp. All in all a good evening in a decent venue. Buffet area small but ample for the size and numbers of our group

We called in for a drink and to see if they did food, they did just basic bar foor but it was good. We didnt want a big meal. The staff on the bar were very friendly so we ended up staying longer than we intended. They had a group on which were excellent

my daughter and son-in-law booked their wedding reception here. We are not from the area so had no idea - but easy to find - at the rear of the "Gardeners arms" - even locals said they had no idea it was there. The venue was ideal - we had abt 130-150 ( at an estimate and it was perfect) The place was decorated beautifully draped ceilings with lights , covered chairs with sashes. plenty of room for a disco and are to set up the food The bar prices were just above mid range for area - but it didnt distract from a great evening. The bar staff were extremely friendly - helping clean up after wards For future couples searching for a venue - this is well worth a look for people out of the area - travelodge is only a 2-3 min walk away

Every Friday and Saturday they have a live band and they are always brilliant. But it seems to be the best kept secret in town.

On arriving there were several blatantly underage girls (roughly between 11-14) at the bar which was innapropriate. There was also a middle aged strange customer shouting at the end of the bar to the apparent amusement of the barstaff.

I came here on a Saturday lunchtime. The place is a cross between a pub and a trendy bar. The bar it self is modern with plenty of bar stools, but there are also benches inside the pub. Not really comfortable. Outside there is a covered area with benches and an outside TV. Inside there are several screens showing various sports. Very much frequented by mid 20's men. It was loud and seemed very cold to me with no real identity. I understand during the evening it might have a better atmosphere. But this place is not for me. Saying that it is reasonably priced.

Not our usual haunt but wanted to see a the band performing that evening. A clean, basic Sports Bar Pub with friendly locals adn fair pricing for drinks.

Went to see a band and someone knocked one of our drinks over. One of the staff came and mopped the floor then used the same cloth to wipe our table after it had been on the floor. When I pulled him up on what he was doing his answer was ' I've used the other side'. Sorry but that's not acceptable. I don't eat in this pub and if I was ever tempted to, I certainly wouldn't now. If they act like that front of house, god forbid what goes on in the kitchen.

After a disappointing let down by the Butt and Oyster, did our group for friends decide to change venue did we move to the Gardener's arms, and establishment we frequented before. Again were we welcomed and the friendly atmosphere of the pub was a welcome refreshment from the rudeness of the Butt. We were served a table quickly and ordered food. The food was not the best, but was good. For me the best is the lovely old time atmosphere, fitting with the old England countryside. I would highly recommend this pub.

This is a nice, spacious pub in Ipswich, not far from the waterfront. Probably not the best in town, but it is reasonably priced and definitely worth a visit!

compared to some of the horrible pub food you get nowadays the food being kicked out by the gardeners is really decent. its mainly homemade although im sure some things are bought straight in. the staff are friendly and its a nice clean place. with a car park and footy on the tv its perfect for the lads when super sunday is on.

The food is good quality and beer is good quality providing the selection but not competitive in pricing especially with some of the better pubs only down the road in the town center i would rather go to the dove. the staff i have found to be rude and did seem reluctant to serve or even merely exist. big shame wasn't a pleasant experience considering a good location near town would've made a good watering hole.

First time visiting here and the food was absolutely delicious, could not fault it. Enjoyed a 3 course dinner. The service was second to none, very friendly and attentive. Will most certainly be returning again. Highly recommend a visit.

I have been to the botanist in Ipswich several times and have throughly enjoyed in the past. I booked a table for 5pm 25/09 for my friends and myself and was really not happy with the service and the food. Myself and my friends ordered drinks but we were there for at least 20 mins before we were asked if we wanted a drink. We then waited another 15 minutes or so until we were asked for our orders. Please note, the resultant was not busy at this time. The three of us ordered calamari to start, this took 30 minutes to come out and it came out cold. Another 30 mins or so went by when we finally got our main. I ordered the steak medium rare and it came out more or less burnt. I waited and waited for the waitress (who was being shadowed by a new starter at the time) to ask if everything was okay with the meal but this took 15 minutes by which time my friends had finished eating. The waitress agreed that the steak looked well done and offered me another one which I accepted. Once I had the other steak, it still wasn’t great. No butter or garlic seasoning. When it came to billing there was no apology for the wait, no asked if we wanted anymore drinks, and no apology for the food. The steak wasn’t taken off the bill which I was shocked about. It was a real shame because I used to speak to highly of this place. It’s really gone downhill and I won’t be in a rush to return if at all…

This is an absolute must if you’re in the Ipswich area! Huge shout out to the team on Allen Gardiner who were extremely friendly and the service was impeccable. The live commentary from the Captain was humorous and engaging. Not avid sea goers we were extremely comfortable on board. The facilities were spotless including toilets and drinks were served throughout the 3 hour cruise. This is one that we will certainly recommend to friends and family. A beautiful little treat for our 43rd Wedding Anniversary. 👌🏼☀️☀️😎
