The Gardener's Arms in Kingston upon Hull, City of

Our regular Friday meeting group of FIVE came to our pre-booked table in the front bar for planned food and drinks only to find our table minutely small and in the dark and the whole room was freezing cold. We moved to the rear bar, BUT this was as equally cold, but we could actually sit properly and see the menu. It was too cold and unpleasant and we left to eat & drink elsewhere !! P.S. Had a great reply & explanation from Karl, the manager, who then generously offered us a complementary evening, whch we had last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Well done Karl, AND JADE, an excellent night was had by all. Thank you

We came in the gardeners for our annual staff party for the first time and what a great night we all had. Pub was spotless clean and tidy. Very well maintained. The 4 staff members was brilliant. Very professional and friendly.

Super amazing place, Recce was lovey and is the perfect server every time I go. Super polite.

Had a really great time when I went with a friend. The staff are amazing and the member off staff that served us think his name was Reecee was really polite and friendly. He made really nice cocktails and checked on us frequently to see if we needed anything.

Great pub and really good for student nights on Wednesdays. Greta atmosphere through out the week especially if your a sports fan. Always has the rugby on love this bar

My local always has the best tasting pints, a brilliant range of selection. You can tell the lines are always clean. Then there’s the food, very well priced and big portions for what you pay for. Always tastes amazing, I have never had an issue with food or drink when I’ve visited here. The quiz nights are always fun and energetic and the pub always has an fantastic atmosphere

It's bing a a couple of months since I was last here it was busy but the the staff was good

Came in to have food and drink with the kids to watch the football in the front bar. Family and dog friendly pub. Sasha’s customer service was unmatched and have no complaints. Made us all welcome. Food was great. The kids enjoyed there food all came out in good time with no delays.

We came here for a club Christmas meal and it was brilliant. Staff were amazing and really friendly, and the food was great. Prices were excellent, everything was really well priced especially considering we have a 3 course meal and drinks it was less than £20. Also being students, this was great as it was super affordable. Atmosphere was amazing, and overall a really fun festive environment. Would highly recommend to anyone!

Called in for a drink around 5pm. Not many customers in the front bar, took a while to get served, as bar staff in the rear bar. Didn,t have any food, so unable to rate. Atmosphere was quiet, due to only 4 people in the front bar. When it's full it looks like it could have a good Atmosphere. It was happy hour, so selected lagers/beers £3 a pint. 😁

Popped in last Monday for quick bite to eat around 7pm. Arrived, staff was all friendly we ordered a pizza to share, but was 2-4-1 so had one each was delicious. The atmosphere was nice and chilled we even stopped for the quiz which was fun. Defo something fun to do on a Monday night we didn't win, but will be back for another go. Good night to have a catch up with friends.

Pepsi can be a bit hit or miss but everything else is class there. Cheap drinks especially with student discount

Place was very quiet there was 4 of us ordered lunch waited over 1 hour for our meal to arrive was told that they had a new chef no excuse the poor girl kept apologising .the chef needs training. Would not recommend

Go to gardeners a lot for drinks but ate for the first time recently. A group of us shared some tapas style dishes from the starters section of the menu and everything was excellent, tastes fresh and cooked well and was very good value. Had a mixed grill for main course and this was also very good,steak was cooked to perfection and all the food arrived in good time! Love gardeners for drinks and will look to eat there more often in the future

Can’t recommend this pub enough! Me and the football team I play for visit every Saturday after our game. The staff are friendly, food and drink are very well priced and they also show all of the live sport too!

Brilliant service with brilliant people and amazing food

Gards is by far the only place in Hull that accommodates for all students. The team never fail to satisfy and go beyond our needs. The staff love to see us come in and know us all on a first name basis. The manager has bent over backwards to give our rugby union team a unique and unbelievable experience. Thank you for being our local.

It’s huge! Doesn’t look big from the front but there’s a whole second bar with pool tables and loads of room to sit and eat. Atmosphere is perfect always showing something on tv sports wise, music playing to suit the time of day and staff always friendly! They have some great offers on food with a small plates deal, as well as 241 pizzas through the week, 2 main deals and even lunch deals… and don’t get me started on the drinks! £2 for a Coors 12-5 through the week before a 3 hour long happy hour!!! Can’t recommend this place and looking forward to trying out their weekend breakfast deals.

Food is ok, and the atmosphere because of atitude is bad. Had to wait for 30 min for 3 breakfasts and one burger... No one but us were eating. Rest were just drinking. It started with a question: Does anyone have any allergies? After I said yes, I had to read terms and conditions, taking into consideration that I didn't have my reading glases with me. I have been told that if I don't agree with them, I wouldn't be served any food. We had a busy day, and we were starving. I read it and questioned them, because terms stated that they are doing best job cos they are pros. But sometimes accidents happen, and if croscontamination will happen, they will not be held responsible!!! Outstanding!!! (not exact word, my interpretation) I pointed out that, as I mentioned before, I have been told that I will not be served unless i agree. I worked in a kitchen before, and I am a certified chef. This is unacceptable!!! Never the less we had a busy day. This was third place we came to, and the other was closed. I agree with the terms, and we ate there(allergy is rear, raspberry) Also, We asked our doghter to bring mom half a glas of orange juice(she needs to mix it with medication). She was ignored. Definitely not will go there and won't recommend it!

Popped in and had a bash at the cooked irish breakfast and was delighted with one of the best breakfasts iv ever had! The pork and leak sausages were particually nice Great breakfast! Will definitely be back soon!

Surprisingly good food, parking at the rear. No kids menu and they removed the dart board but otherwise a really good boozer, no nonsense, nice outdoor tables too for when the sun is out.

Visited on Saturday fab ABBA tribute act in the afternoon staff and owner were very friendly and worked hard serving the crowd a great day and will return strongly recommend popping in for good food and drinks thanks for a great sunny afternoon

Popped in for a breakfast off the new weekend menu, and I can honestly say it is by far the best breakfast I’ve had from a traditional pub for a very very long time. I had the small breakfast, it was more than enough to cure the harshest of hangovers (allegedly) and a coffee for sub £7 it is absolute bargain. Cooked perfectly and came in very good time and piping hot unlike some other local establishments in the area. I’m not brave enough to challenge the mega breakfast. Highly recommend.

The gardeners Arms is a really nice traditional pub. The beer is a bit on the pricey side, and the lovely hand pumps they had several years ago have now sadly been taken out. It does serve very good pub food. It's quite a plush cozy interior with lots of TVs for watching sports. There's a lot of outside seating and some little wooden cabins. A deservedly very popular pub, well known throughout the country by countless generations of students.

This one bartender was very lovely and kind he was tall and blonde-ish also very handsome. Anyone who likes good customer service should come here !

When we went in on a Tuesday afternoon there were 3 of us We were going to have food we waited around 10 mins not a single member of staff in site in either bar so we left

We went for a meals which were excellent at 2 for £10.50, the portions were surprisingly large. very tasty and well-cooked. The service was also perfect and very friendly. I rate the visit 8 out of 10 because the drinks are very expensive at £9.95 for two pints.

Great venue, visited last week for a pool night with friends, food was spot on and more importantly the selection of beers was outstanding 👌

I recently enjoyed tried some burger here, and it was delightful experience! I also met the bar staff, he was really friendly as well.

The place was terrible didn't have mixed grills so ordered the double burger then 20 minutes after ordering the manager came upto me to say they had no burgers so asked for a pizza to be then told they had no pizzas either. Two other people in the group had 16oz steaks so said I'll have that instead to be told they had one steak left so had to have this because had already payed not that I wanted this. 20 minutes later my niece inlaw got her food when we had booked as a table of five and was sat there to eat her chicken burger by herself. 1 hour after ordering my wife's sister boyfriend went to the bar to chase our order up and was told they'd ran out of steaks and they'd had to go to the shop to buy one. They then brought the food over for my sister in law and her fiance and still was waiting for our food for a further 30 minutes after there food. After a total wait of 2 hours my food and my wife's food came and the portion of chicken was miniscule and wasn't as stated on the menu so she didn't want this so we asked for the food she had got to be refunded. This was a table booked for my wides birthday meal at no point did anyone contact us to say what they'd ran out of before going to gardeners nowhere was there any notice to say on the bar what they had ran out of. When you go out as a group you expect all food to come out at the same time so you eat together not so everyone is eating separately and sat there with an empty plate while waiting for other people to get meals and eat them cause you had your food over an hour prior. This place is somewhere I would not recommend to anyone at all stay away plenty of other pubs which serve food that appreciate you as a customer and your experience.

Atmosphere, music was great, food and service

Had a lovely time for a pre-Christmas lunch with work colleagues and people we support. The staff were extremely friendly polite and courteous and the food was excellent. This is the second time we have had our pre-Christmas lunch at this pub, and we will definitely be back best year.

My partner and I are so pleased with the service from this restaurant, we ordered some food on just eat and upon checking its status noticed that it had said it had been delivered when we hadn’t received anything and our doorbell didn’t ring, so we decided to go to the restaurant and see if they could assist us further, they were so helpful , they redid the food for us and gave us a drink whilst we waited, it was well worth going there for, once again guys thank you!!

What a belting little (big) pub. Visited on student night on Wednesday. Not being your typical uni student (more on the mature side) felt very nervous visiting on what appeared to be a very youthful evening. How wrong was I? Had the best night partying with the rest of them. And such cheap drinks offers, my head was definitely sore the next day. The staff were all amazing, made me feel right at home. However particular shout out to Ash, the banter was Bob on.

My last 3 visits were awful - took too long to get served, food cooked by someone who has no idea on how to cook and been served a drink which tasted of line cleaner. The place has gone downhill.

Food was great as usual (I recommend the Mac & Jack burger) but I mostly just want to point out how well the security guard handled the situation with the drunken and disorderly man to get him to leave the pub. Most 'door men' would have reacted differently and it would have ended up in blows but this security guard handled it calmly even when the drunk guy got in his face. Well done for keeping the peace.

The Gardeners Arms was my favourite teenage pub during the mid to late 70s, some 45 years ago. OK, a lot has changed in that time, but I am still drawn to it when I return to Hull and I meet up with old friends.

Close to Hull University so a favourite with students. There's a large car park at the rear. Spacious inside with outdoor seating at the front. Very much a chain pub vibe with the usual food menu options available with daily offers. Good range of beers on draught as well as hot drinks. Staff are friendly and very efficient.

Had a tapas lunch - it was all delicious - fabulous selection and lovely atmosphere - excellent menu choices too
