Pizza is very nice here and it’s situated right next to the cinema. Atmosphere was a little bit dead and we didn’t expect to go in here as we were only trying to avoid the rain but very happy we stumbled in. Staff are very friendly and nice, service is really good too!

We specifically booked this restaurant for a meal before going to the cinema at the Grosvenor cinema because the Gardener website and the cinema tickets said there was a discount off the food with cinema tickets. The restaurant refused to honour this citing a miscommunication between the cinema and the restaurant. This doesn’t make a lot of sense given it’s on their own website, and not just on the cinema tickets. Staff were unhelpful and didn’t seem to think there was an issue. We left and ate somewhere else.

First off: A service charge of 10% which we were not informed of was added. Next: The food we ordered was not quite what we expected... Fish burger: A plain cod piece with the skin still attached, placed between buns. Chicken parm: Cheese blankeded, with tomato sauce and some decorative rocket leaves on top(not a proper salad, as the menu hinted at) and fries(not mentioned in the menu). Cheesecake: Neither of us enjoyed it, but it was pretty to look at. We asked for a sauce, as the food was a bit try. It came in a near empty heinz bottle. After one squirt from the bottle we had to ask for another, and were given one; equally empty. Bright side: A pretty location.

We went in 25th August at 12.10 pm and were directed to sit at a table. It had a shot glass from the night before still on it and I had to ask for it to be cleaned as it was filthy. Ordered 2 coffees no probs. The food order we were told after 30 mins hadnt been placed, but it was now. We ordered 2 cocktails, after 10 minutes and no drinks but other people were being served I asked where our drinks were and I was told "they were on the list" what ever that meant. The staff member then made an order for another table whilst we were still waiting, now 15 minutes for our drinks. we went to pay and leave due to the service and were then told that the staff had gone to get more gin, where from Waitrose? We paid for our coffees after waiting nearly an hour with no food or cocktails and not even complimentary coffees for the wait. Clearly they think service doesn't matter as they get such high footfall being on Ashton lane. Dreadful service! Went to Hillhead BC instead.

Absolutely outstanding place for my daughter's hen doo and the owner and staff were amazing. They went above and beyond to make it through most amazing day and night. We will be back

We had a lovely hen night at the gardener. They were so lovely and accommodating for us to party on a Saturday night. Special thanks to Adam for helping us with drinks xx

After waiting 35 minutes for 2 burgers and a pizza I had to go and ask when we would be served. Got it 5 minutes later only for burgers and chips to be cold. Told waiter and he said they could heat them up.. got no cutlery or napkins with the food. When paying I complained about the waiting time and was told that it was the kitchens fault because take out food is given priority over actual diners. Told her to remove service charge as it was a disgrace how they treat customers.

Arrived at The Gardener on Sunday 7th of July at around 4pm with six family members. We received a warm welcome from a friendly member of staff and she showed us to our tables. Soon after sitting down we ordered and received a round of drinks. A short time later we ordered food. I opted for the "Roast Scotch Beef" at £19. My partner ordered the "Southern Fried Cod". I was expecting a Roast Beef dinner but what I received was more like two fatty steaks. 🤮 Now I'm sure some people are and would be delighted to receive steaks but I wasn't and their menu ought to be clearer. I didn't think I needed to ask though perhaps the steep price should have made me think it would be something more than just Roast Beef. 🤔 Anyway, I didn't eat much of the steaks and the remainder of the plate contents were very disappointing as the "Duck Fat Roast Potatoes" were uncooked on the inside and charred on the outside. Really horrible! There weren't any "Braised Red Cabbage" or "Creamed Leeks" and the other "Roasted Roots" were under cooked and cold too. Even the Yorkshire Puddings were undercooked and doughy. My partner and another family member had the Southern Fried Cod which they understandably expected would be a slice of Cod with a Southern Fried coating but instead they received a slice of Cod (with skin on) and both say it was cold on the inside. Neither can understand it being called Southern Fried. Other family members had problems too, mainly with things being under cooked or cold. We were under time pressure to be elsewhere by 6pm or we would have complained. It's obvious that the Chef was under time pressure too. Perhaps they need several Chefs to enable them to cope better. Perhaps the Chef had the day off and someone else thought they'd try their hand at cooking - if so then they failed miserably! Unless you visit The Gardner to eat when it is "Very Quiet" and order a "Simple Dish" from the menu then it's highly likely that you'll be disappointed! I wouldn't and couldn't recommend eating there though the staff and atmosphere are very good.

Lovely street in the west end great vibe. Friendly staff and DELICIOUS food. I had halloumi hash and it was a very generous portion and sooooo much halloumi! The chilli jam makes it super tasty. Cant go wrong.

We booked the gardener for our daughter's post cinema after party. We had the Plant Room for exclusive use. The staff were exceptional, the room was setup and they helped with decor and provided gift bags. The customer service was outstanding, very accommodating and attentive. The food was fantastic, all the children loved the food and what little that was left over they asked to take away with them. This is the 2nd time I have booked this venue for a private function and it didn't disappoint. I highly recommend this venue for any private events. It's a fantastic location and the staff are outstanding.

It took 15 minutes to get our drinks after ordering through the app. It was not busy at the time. I ordered a wine and cider from a bottle. Cider bottle was warm and not been refrigerated and I had to go inside to promt them to bring our drinks. A small thing but there was not even an offer of ice which is standard with bottle ciders as they had no draft.

Cool interior, ages to get served every time I've been. A bit gimmicky. Hen do vibes.

Best place to be if you’re looking for a great time in Ashton lane , wonderful atmosphere , fantastic attentive staff , great food , me and my family and friends had a wonderful evening there recently and I look forward to returning very soon , the staff are genuinely friendly and are a credit to the owners . The place is amazing in every possible way. Situated in the iconic Ashton Lane of Glasgow, covered in soothing greenery and filled with friendly people. We felt very welcome by the staff (thank You, Camilla!). Honestly, it's the place to be if you are looking for a nice, relaxing time. What an atmosphere.... 100 % recommend

Lovely location on a sunny lunchtime outside. Choice of draught beer limited and one i wanted was off. Margareta Pizza was stodgy and tasteless and no basil even though menu said it had (kitchen had run out). Second round of drinks missed and ended up having to cancel them as time ran out. All up a pretty disappointing experience.

I paid 10.15 for a glass of wine which was very expensive. I ordered my drink at the bar and took to to my table. I was surprised that there was a service charge added as I far as I was concerned the person was only doing what they are paid to do. If they had given table service then it be different. When did bars add service charge on for pouring a glass if wine

Love Ashton lane and sat here in the sun today which was lovely. Drinks were decent enough but asked for some hummus from the snacks on the menu. Was a tiny amount and a few bits of flatbread, no sundried tomato tapenade or crispy capers as stated on the menu and when charged there was an added 10% service charge. £5 for it was a bit overpriced for the portion, but then to be charged £5.50 with the service charge is pretty poor. My partner went to the bar for our drinks and there was a service charge too so be aware of this.

We had a lovely meal here and our waitress Sara without an H was amazing. She went over and and above to get us macaroni with beef. Would definitely come back again 😃

Staff were fab - very polite and attentive. The place is lovely & clean and has a great vibe. However, the food was average at best. Lukewarm fries sent back, came back ice and hot. Fish sandwich was really tasty but again almost no heat in it. Club sandwich was drastic, chalk white bread that looked like it had been sat beside a toaster rather than put in it. Totally uncooked, fatty bacon inside. Rank. Again though, two lovey young ladies serving who were a credit to the place. The chef needs some retraining though.

My sister arranged my hen do for 20 guests for cocktails and a meal. Had a fantastic day and the staff were amazing. Would highly recommended it for any event or for just a wee girls day out

"meh-minus". Pizza was on par with Dominos, rubbish wine, caper salad was 70% very piquant mustard, rillettes came with 1/2 slice sandwich bread toast cut into thirds. Basically like a Saintsbury or Tesco Express meal at 5x the price, would avoid.

Booked for the private dining area for 12.30 on a Sunday. Pre ordered food the week before and requested it be served for 1.30. Food was ready by 2pm, starters came out and were just a bit disappointing. Pakora was over cooked with minimal dipping sauce so very dry. Soup lacked flavour. The sweetcorn fitters were however lovely. Main meals consisted of 13 burgers, 2 lamb dishes and a Buddha bowl, but again, lamb was dry, no sauce (I had to ask for something and was eventually provided with a garlic mayo) the food was just very average. The girls serving were lovely and tried but there was confusion over what was ordered, whether what they were service was the vegan options or meat, they had to be asked 4 times for vinegar etc. Then we had ordered one dessert and it had to be sent back as the sticky toffee was brick hard. Just poor service for a pre ordered meal for 16 people.

We ordered a southern fried cod sandwich and a margherita pizza. The fries that came with the sandwich were tepid at best, as was the pizza - which came with its own rather blunt roller for cutting at the table, because why not give the paying customer of sawing away at their meal while it’s growing even colder. The staff were pleasant enough, but mustered nothing more than a sheepish look when I mentioned the above (genuinely gently rather than sniffily). Not even moved to make the two soft drinks gratis by way of recompense. Won’t be hurrying back.

Absolutely fantastic venue! We hired the plant room to get married on October 19th and it couldn’t have been better. The staff did everything to make our day really special, and a huge thank you to Fin and Alessandro who were our witnesses. Would 100% recommend to anyone looking for an intimate wedding/party venue.

We come here every week with tennis and the Gardener is amazing! Service is fantastic- Camilla is always so friendly and attentive. Would recommend to everyone! Stunning atmosphere and good prices.

What a cosy place for a private meeting. Our band of Botanic volunteers enjoyed a coffee fuelled meetup in the Plant Room, a cute and comfy quiet room just a few steps out of the busy mayhem of Glasgow’s Byres Road. Alessandro looked after us well. We will be back!

We had an informal meeting/get together arranged to discuss a local project and were kindly offered the use of the Plant Room as a private space. The staff were really welcoming and attentive. I would recommend it whole heartedly. The coffee was pretty good too !

Negative aspects: Menu says 4 types of special canned beers. Apperently, all sold out at 15:00. (A bar with no special beers?). Woman's toilet not clean and no toilet paper. Men's room didn't have anything to dry the hands. Normal beer was £6,25. (They'd throw the glass back in Germany and in Belgium they'd fill a diaper with it). Positive: Dog was given a bowl of water and staff was friendly.

Went for dinner for mums 60th with family it was lovely and we were well looked after mum felt very special.

Had an amazing time from coming out the cinema to heading for the train. Decor and environment is truly spectacular as if it’s ripped straight from pages of the great gatsby novel. Staff were so welcoming and friendly, especially the tall handsome manager who’s just such a down to earth guy. If only I lived in Glasgow I’d never leave! Only criticism would be they turned the music up far too loud halfway through and I couldn’t hear anything else

Had tickets for the Grosvenor cinema next door so popped in for a drink first, great service and well priced - so we came back afterwards as well. Tables outside are perfect for watching all the comings and goings in Ashton Lane.

Overpriced. Slow service. We arrived for Saturday lunch at 1pm and sat outside. The restaurant was very quite and there were plenty of tables empty. We were ignored for 10 minutes while a larger table were dealt with (who came in after us), had to go to the bar ourselves to order a drink and get a menu. Ordered the wild mushroom croque (£11) and a smoked salmon/cream cheese on rye (£14). Both came about 40 minutes later and we were very shocked at the size of the salmon on rye, it was tiny. The rye had been toasted and was rock hard! The croque was tasty but again not worth the price. Pint of Tennents was £4.95, not bad. Pint of Camden Lager was £6.25!!! Won't be going back.

In for a few quite drinks and thought we would nibble at food. Ordered the salmon for £8, this was huge, two great slices of bread topped with salmon pate and smoked salmon. Dont get me wrong it was lovely but how you can put that much salmon out for £8 I have no idea. We also ordered the humous, this was a soup bowl of humous, again just far too much, and far more than we were expecting for £6. The humous was topped with a balsamic vinegar dressing which was too over powering and couldn't get to the taste of humous. Sadly on this occasion it was a case of overkill, we thought we were ordering starter size portions. We did have a wait for the food, but the waitress did come over and explain, which I think was a nice touch.

We had a brilliant cocktail masterclass hosted by Alex yesterday for a hen party. He was very knowledgeable and make sure we had a brilliant time and delicious cocktails. The buffet was really tasty and the atmosphere brilliant.

This was the worst restaurant experience I have ever experienced in my life. Ordered 2 pizzas and a filled croissant before 1pm and it took over 1 and a half hours. We were told the ticket didn’t go through 45 minutes after waiting and enquiring where our food was. And we still waited a further 45 minutes for the wrong food to arrive. The pizza was awful and wrong ordered croissant was also awful. At the end of this terrible experience we’re we’re offered a discount and then no payment. It was a very uncomfortable experience as staff were very stressed looking which then reflected on the service. I cannot and would not recommend this place. Wasted a day we were out for a celebration.

Had the buffet and cocktail masterclass in the plant room for my daughters hen do. The buffet was amazing and delicious and plenty of it. The staff were friendly and helpful without being intrusive and Alex who took the cmc was so nice and friendly and even encouraged those of us(me) who were not very good. We even won a bottle of shots for all our efforts. Will definitely go back again.

My friend and I had a great night. I went out this Saturday to somewhere bit different than I normally go to and I was presently surprised. I stumbled across The Gardener on Ashton Lane. Visited on Saturday night and was served by Becca. I can honestly say that she is a credit to this establishment. She was so lovely and friendly from the very beginning. Not to mention we really enjoyed our night as a whole and the drinks were amazing.

Visited for drinks and spot of brunch. Lovely little spot to sit outside. Brought the dogs along who were fussed over by the staff. One of them, Liam, even brought them a wee bowl of water. Great service and fantastic staff.

Ideal place to go every time I visit west end. Have been there quite a few times. Brunch and cocktails are very tasty, nice ambience and vintage style. Last time we visited there must have been an issue with our order but a manager (I think) called Liam really made our night perfect despite the mistakes made. Thank ya. Will be back soon

Visited here for brunch yesterday as part of the Boozical Bruch we had booked into at The Grosvenor Cinema. We received a warm welcome, our table was comfortable and the art deco style décor created a lovely atmosphere. We had a choice of brunch items...

Arrived to discover online information was incorrect. Notice on the door said it opened at 10, we arrives at 11.30 and we're told "that's an old sign, we open at 12" returned at 12 with 2 two year old and were given childrens menu, when the waitress returned to take out order we ordered pancakes for the children only to be told that half the menu wasn't available. Upset children being told they couldn't have the pancakes they'd chosen then selected scrambled egg and houmous. After 45mins the food had not arrived and the toddlers were getting understandably restless. They had menus to color in, but no crayons. After nearly an hour our food arrived- no apology. The food was nice but not nice enough to be worth the wait. Asked for the bill and were ignored for another 15 minutes. Coats on , child in buggy standing at the door, still no service. Asked again for the bill and a man who seemed a bit more on the ball eventually, took our payment. Will definitely never be back, very disappointing.

30 minute wait for hummus and chips and took forever to be served drinks. Was told we can take the food in to the cinema but didn’t want to do that so shouldn’t be an excuse for really slow service. Was quite disappointed. Missed first few minutes of our film because nobody would let us pay our bill had to constantly ask for a card machine.

Location is second to none, food was ok although some a bit to greasy. Pizzas were good. Staff friendly but Service was poor. Waited over twenty mins for our drinks which eventually sat on a tray at the bar until we reminded our waitress. When the food arrived the staff weren’t sure what the dishes were! The bill was wrong and they added an automatic 10%service charge. So a mixed experience. A good point is if you book tickets for the attached cinema, it comes with a 15% discount code, which makes a difference

Looked nice from the outside, but the vegan food options are not good. They just add some extra vegetables, instead of replacing meat ingredients. We also missed a lot of other ingredients. However, when we told them they apologized and give us a discount.

De kaart bevatte een vegan optie voor de Gardeners Breakfast. Aangezien ik erg benieuwd was wat de vegan alternatieven zouden zijn voor de sausages, black pudding het ei en de bacon bestelde ik dit gerecht. De manager gaf aan dat er door de keuken vegan alternatieven zouden worden bedacht voor deze ingrediënten. Zoals je op de foto kan zien is dit geenszins waar en is er alleen vegan bacon toegevoegd. De rest is gewoon weggelaten. Toen we het navroegen gaf de manager aan dat de mushroom toegevoegd was, maar deze hoorde al bij het gerecht. We kregen wel korting op de rekening omdat er het één en ander was misgegaan.

We agreed this place was “THE FIND” in a Glasgow on the west side near the University. Absolutely charming location. DON’T MISS THIS PLACE!! Excellent food, drinks and service. Camilla is a wonderful server. Sweet and cute as a button.

We were a party of 4 for brunch. As one of our party had an allergy we asked what type of nuts were on the pancakes and was told 'sesame nuts' (was actually hazelnuts). Food was fairly slow to arrive even although there was only...

We came here today after our morning in Glasgow. We saw this place and thought it looked amazing from the outside! We walked in and were greeted from 2 lovely ladies behind the counter. We sat, ordered our drinks and about 10 mins later our cocktail and pepsi were brought out and our food order was taken. About 35 mins/40 mins later our food came out. We were disappointed that the food was cold - we were really hungry and decided we didn't want to wait on them cooking the food again but didn't say anything. The chips were similar to the microwave chips you can purchase at Asda. When the food was brought over, I asked for another cocktail. 15 mins later when we had finished our food the drink had still not been brought out (only us and 2 other tables in that we saw) and we were just ready to leave. It was clear we had been forgotten about a few times as the lady often came around the corner and said 'oh, I'll get ___' and then never brought it. We went up to pay, and the drink I had ordered wasn't even being made, the lady admitted she forgot about it. I mentioned I was a bit annoyed about not having a beverage with my food and we were so keen to get going we never mentioned the food either - if I'm being honest they didn't look like they were bothered if we mentioned it or not. Overall, even though the restaurant is absolutely stunning, we were disappointed with our lunch today.

It was around 30 minutes before their kitchen closes, but hey took our order and after 30 minutes the waitress said "unfortunately, our kitchen closes so we can't cook your food. We are sorry so drinks that you ordered are free". And we and the other family were the only one who were there, so why they didn't tell us this before everything was closed?! They took our order, waisted our time (cause we could go to the other place, which was across the road, and their kitchen was able to cook at that time). So they repeated our drink and said it was on the house, we didn't ask for repeat but who cares, and after this the waitress brought a bill, and said that we needed to pay for first drinks. Wth? They took our order, didn't bring the food, waisted our time, and then made us pay for those drinks. And we didn't have dinner, because of them. Thanks. I would not recommend this place

We were given a table, then nobody helped us for a long time - we had to flag someone down for water. Other customers also basically begging for water from staff. Food was….not good. Burned burger, average to meh meatballs. Staff never brought condiments. Then...

Bar à l'entrée fleurie sympathique, mais ferme 2h en avance, 18h au lieu 20h soit disant sous ordre du manager, obligé de boire une pinte en 30min et un cocktail qui ne contient pas tous les fruits de sa description
