The Grosvenor Cafe in Glasgow City

Had a great night ,music was great.

Was in the West End a few weeks ago with some chums for a catch up and a few beers. Dropped into the upstairs bar. There was a chap playing piano and singing. He was very good but so loud we couldn't hear anything that was being said so we left after 5 minutes and sat outside. Could still hear the piano player but at a much more acceptable level. People go to a bar to talk and have a drink not to be deafened. Sort it out Grosvenor.

Stay so far away from this place. Tried to book a venue room for my birthday for weeks, messaged on Instagram for help and was left on read with no response. I then messaged again and was given the worst customer service ever. Image attached. So disgusting

Had a lovely time here on a Sunday evening, bingo was a lot of fun, the staff were very pleasant and the strawberry chili margarita actually changed my life 😩 very nice space and nicely decorated as well !

We were here for a hen do and it was amazing! Done the cocktail making class which was so much fun, had a two course meal and then booked out the karaoke room afterwards which was so much fun! The staff were lovely and couldn’t do enough for us, made our day/evening one to remember. Would 100% recommend !

Food was great and decent portions. Live music was a little to loud and you have to shout to each other. Could do with more bar staff. The atmosphere was good & lively.

Me and my wife attended this establishment on Saturday 8thJune 24 and were stunned by the lack of service at the bar and how slow it was to get served. I stood at the bar for 20 mins before i was served and it wasn’t even that busy. I said to one of the barmen that the lady next to me was next to get served then me and be told by the barman that he was only serving one more person then going on a break. The staff don’t look as if there interested and look as if there going thro the motions.Customer care is shocking there walking about with there faces tripping them it doesn’t take much to smile!! There is no queuing system and were told we wud only get served either end of the bar, why the size of the bar u wud thing there wud be a lot more staff serving especially on a Saturday night. The entertainment was the best thing about the place the 2 guys playing guitar were brilliant. Wud be gud if the staff had a bit off training on customer!!

If you order a pint, they have an automatic service charge that adds 10% to the cost, even though you aren't ever shown any receipt. All they have had to do it pour the liquid in the glass. I guess if I didn't want to pay it, I could have the pint thrown over my face?

Very disappointed when we visited here on 3/6/2024. We don't visit here regularly, but have always loved it when we do. When your feet stick to the floor it's definitely time to about turn and leave!

Attended a hen party here yesterday. Had a private room for karaoke and food. Staff were soo attentive making sure we all were happy and had a drink in hand. Everyone had a great time. Would highly recommend here ☺️

We had a karaoke hen do for my mother here on Saturday and it was fabulous. Amazing vibe and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you so much x

Had family get together in private room then spent some time in main area. Had buffet served in private room. Impossible to chat in main area due to LOUD music. So had to move on.

Cocktail masterclass fantastic, food great. Mark did a fantastic job with the cocktails.

Had a great experience at the Grosvenor Cafe. It was a busy Saturday and I'd booked a function room for my birthday. The staff were very friendly, attentive and helpful. The service was great. Shannon and Isobel helped with my booking initially, then on the day Sophie and Kirsty were very helpful on the day. Answered all my queries and made sure we all had a great experience. Highly recommend

Have been frequenting Ashton Lane for many years, and have spent money in this particular bar on more occasions than I care to remember, and NEVER have I been so appalled by the place as I was last night sat 17 Feb 24. Bar was busy and the service was actually not too bad timewise. Drinks prices in line with usual Lane, so no complaints there. The big issue was the atmosphere. It was TERRIBLE. The crowd was just awful. I personally witnessed extra curricular activity in the ladies loo and swiftly after making a member of staff aware we left, but not before having to witness an awful spot of bother between a group of young men that was dealt with so badly by the bouncer. There was hostility in the air and Im sorry but we will not be back until such a time the owners make the bar a safe space for its costomers. What a shame to see what was once a bustling and busy bar reduced to this cavalcade of carnage.

We had some drinks in here before dinner. It's a lively bar and great for watching sport on the many very large projectors

The bar staff are terrible! Takes ages to get served and then make a drink. Bar isn't even that busy. Won't be rushing back.

service was shocking. ignored us completely and waited over half an hour for anyone to bring us the card machine to pay for our food. very disappointing as the food was great. wouldn’t come again.

Food was decent if a bit pricey, but the service was rubbish. Had to repeatedly ask for sides, for main meal that was forgotten; for ketchup and for the bill. Servers ignored us; and when serving us were unenthusiastic and slow. Apart from once nice girl with a claw clip, we were really let down. Also there was period blood in the toilets and no toilet roll

The decor prior to the refurb in the big bar upstairs was classy and elegant. It's now super tacky and it makes me sad. Feels like a step backwards.

Loved the atmosphere and live music was a nice surprise. We went there for an evening meal. Food options where good and well prepared. We especially enjoyed the lasagne and the burger. Also French fries were amazing (the simple things...). The service was great too, all was served perfectly, all extra requests were fulfilled almost immediately.

We had our office Xmas party in the Grosvenor Cafe on 8th December. Despite the restaurant being very busy, the food was exceptionally good for 15 of us. The staff and manager could not have done more to help us enjoy the afternoon and evening. Very well done and Thank you Sam H

They have two karaoke rooms! Food was fine, typical Christmas fare.

Lovely place for something to eat and drink, set in a large old theatre there is lots of seating and entertainment on most evenings. We nipped in for a drink and having already eaten elsewhere we decided to get a dessert. Me and my husband chose a Nutella calzone thinking it was like a folded pancake, no it was actually just like a pizza full of Nutella and bananas. It was so good but absolutely massive, we could have shared one between us, but nevertheless we throughly enjoyed it. We would definitely return when next in Glasgow.

When I walked in the vibe just blew me off my feet I was gobsmacked. The bartender I think her name was Kila was very nice and said it was the place to be which I knew it was l. Three words to describe the place fun fun fun.

We visited on a Saturday afternoon, it wasn’t particularly busy but we waited a while for a menu, then again for drinks. The food was nice and the drinks were nice when we eventually got gem. Staff pleasant but not overly attentive and the music seemed a bit too loud for lunch to be honest

We had a meal here after getting married downstairs in the Gardener. We both had the fish and chips and they were delicious! Such a lovely space, the staff were amazing, couldn’t have asked for better service!

Brunch was included in my cinema ticket and only 3 staff on for about 30 covers one behind the one running about and other was more interested in the walk-ins brunch was not a surprise and plated service was probably not best idea and we waited 30 minutes for food both breakfasts were dry and didn't have same items on them. Would not come back for food Definitely for cinemam

Two of us out for Sunday lunch. One had steak and chips, the other the roast chicken. Steak was so cold the butter wouldnt melt on it. Very small piece of chicken, one leaf of fried kale and something that should have been "haggis butter" but resembled a small square of tasteless flat pastry. The carrot & turnip mash was nice. £48 not well spent, not worth the money at all. Staff are very good and there was a very good duo singing but the food was a real disappointment.

We had our engagement party on the mezzanine bar and it was an amazing venue to host our family and friends. The space is excellent, the bar staff werevery accommodating and the manager was always checking in to see if we needed anything. I would highly recommend this place and will definitely be back for future events. Thanks again to all the staff, you were amazing. Cameron &Caitlin

We hired the Mezzanine floor at the Grosvenor Café to celebrate my daughter’s 21st birthday in September. Alessandro was fantastic throughout the whole process from booking to the actual event. His team of staff on the night were really efficient, polite and accommodating. Alessandro himself kept checking that everything was going to plan and if we needed anything else. The setting was perfect and the whole venue had just had a refurb. There was live music on the evening which really added to the wonderful atmosphere as well as a DJ later on. The big screen downstairs and upstairs on the mezzanine allowed us to take full advantage of the rugby World Cup early evening and then to display a slideshow of photos for the 21st. I would highly recommend this venue for a similar event.

The place has such a happy ambience and food is really good for the price. Caitlin was very great at service with always a smile on her face.

We were the only ones in there! I've not been in years, and the place used to be jumping. There'd be loads of arts and crafts, toy box, driving cars and face painting for kids whilst the parents ate. It brought in a lot of families and a lot of business. Having said that, the food and service were great for the only three adults in the place. Can't fault that. Maybe an idea to bring families back in.

Leuke ambiance. Goed personeel en vriendelijk. Voorgerecht en hoofdgerecht kwamen tegelijk maar kwaliteit was goed.

Was here for dinner with a friend on a weekday. Following a flight of stairs, the restaurant's atmosphere is grand and well decorated, really high ceilings (which my friend wasn't fond of, don't know why). They also appear to have an area for special events. Food was expensive-ish but in keeping with the area. Waited 30+ minutes for our orders to arrive when it was relatively quiet. My friend really liked the pork belly starter that she had, but my vegetarian friters was a disappointment with just two small pieces costing £8. The skin on fries could have done with more sauce with the truffle and parmesan add-on. The mushroom tarts was probably worth trying but I won't be back for it. Service was mostly friendly and approachable. But I wonder if this is related to the 10% optional service charge that they silently add onto your bill.

Op het onverwacht in het café terecht gekomen. Het bleek een goeie gok te zijn. Personeel is vriendelijk en de bediening is vlot. Food and drinks zijn zeker in orde, ook het gebouw op zich is wel de moeite waard!

If you visit Glasgow, check out Glasgow University, 4th oldest in the English speaking world. In a nice back road just off the Main Street you will find the excellent Grosvenor Cafe. Upstairs is an amazing high ceiling venue that was once a single screen cinema. Service is as outstanding—prompt, kind, attentive and efficient. The food was excellent—I had the Sunday roast. Grosvenor has an extensive drinks list. Give it a try—excellent value and first rate service!

One of my favourite places for drinks in Ashton Lane. Visited with friends for the Barbie boozical brunch and had a fantastic time. Yes it was busy, but we didnt have to wait long for drinks and food.

Delicious, beautiful, and comfortable! The inside is a renovated old movie theater and the exterior looks onto Ashton Lane. My wife and I went here on our first night in Glasgow and were not disappointed at all! Highly recommend!

Good points - lovely venue, half decent food, some toys for kids and a party bag each. Bad points - One member of staff in particular was sullen and rude from the get go, and the service was extremely slow despite the venue being quiet....

I was in the venue on a busy Saturday night and even with the amount of people needing served I still received great service from a person called Ciara. Very welcoming and gives of a vibe that they enjoyed their job.
