Lovely venue in extremely nice gardens with abundant seating outside. The service from the staff is excellent ant all very pleasant. The choice of cakes is good with something to suit most. However the toasties are a little to be desired, I would suggest it’s a cheaper or catering bread and the cheese extremely bland and stringy. I wouldn’t say it was mozzarella but more of again catering or a cheese substitute. The ham & cheese toasty just had slices of ham uncooked and folded again a cheap and tasteless processed ham. Such a shame Sorry but this spoils the cafe

We sat outdoors overlooking the beautifully kept gardens. I had cream tea for one which included 2 large scones, delicious strawberry jam, clotted cream and a little fresh strawberry with a pot of tea. Scones are my 'thing' and I rate these homemade scones 10/10. My husband had a ploughman's big bap with a particularly tasty chutney. Service was prompt and friendly. Afterwards we walked around the beautiful gardens. Will definitely return.

We kept returning to this lovely cafe for lunch and cream teas during our month-long holiday in Cornwall. The menu is small but perfectly formed: lovely hummus; stunning tomato soup and toastie; lovely fresh Greek salad, pasties, cakes. In the spirit of heritage (the cafe is connected to a museum), each menu item has an historical link. Service was lovely, efficient. Dogs welcome outside. Very accessible for those with mobility issues. Far from the crowds, this is Newquay’s best kept secret. Shhhhh!

This is our 3rd visit back to The Garden, and feel it may be a habit that my 80 year mother in law won't allow us to break , she nearly had a tantrum when we didn't stop straight away but carried on round the grounds! We did of course go in and order what has become customary... Cream tea. The scones are to die for , whether plain or with currants, lovely sticky jam and a generous dollop of Cornish cream, coupled with a good pot of tea or a very smooth tasting coffee. It is an an absolute treasure of a place, and a must to sample.

This unpretentious little cafe delighted us so much we pottered along several times during our 2 week stay in the area. Fab location in Trevance Gardens. Lovely friendly and efficient staff, wonderful selection of drinks including full range of non dairy options. Amazing cream tea - home made scones and no nasty plastic clotted cream or jam portions! We didn’t sample any savouries but what was coming out of the little kitchen looked amazing. Will certainly be returning when back in Cornwall next year and would highly recommend.

What a wonderful place for a baby shower! There were 12 of us that attended for afternoon tea on 16th Nov and what a great afternoon tea it was. The sandwiches were so fresh, the cakes were amazing - especially the brownies! The atmosphere was also fantastic. I have to say thank you to all that were working as all the girls were made to feel very welcome and we were basically left to do what we wanted and decorate how we liked. Anything we asked for was no trouble at all. I was sightly worried that we would have been turfed out at 4pm as we weren’t aware when we booked that it would be on winter times having only arrived at 2pm. However we were allowed to stay for as long as we liked eventually leaving after 5pm and this made me relax and enjoy the afternoon.Would definitely recommend here for future functions.

Visiting family in Newquay and waking to a lovely warm sunny day we took the opportunity to walk along the lakeside - the lovely gardens are beautifully kept, boaters on the lake and families and friends enjoying a stroll. Walking past a row of white cottages with picnic tables outside we spied a lovely little sign of the garden, we decided it was time for a coffee and a slice of cake. Coffee was delicious and cake (carrot for me lemon drizzle for my other half) was perfectly moist and homemade to boot. We chatted to the lovely friendly owner of the cafe (who has had it since December) about her plans for the space - so nice to hear that they are offering something different - music events and evening meals, we have recommended this to our family and we will be back the next time we are in town. Go have cake, a sandwich - bring your friends and take time to admire the views it’s a beautiful little spot

Well, I, we, love Treleavens ice cream! So I was near Newquay and checked where to get it! On the internet the was a big advert with The Garden Café displaying Treleavens ice cream. I Parked the car, paid, walked to The Garden Café, couldn’t see any Treleavens anywhere. My wife asked and was told they didn’t sell it! I noticed behind a building an old sign saying Treleavens. My wife thought we might be at the wrong place so, I showed the girl behind the counter the advert. She confirmed we were at the right place but that they sold Ben and Jerry’s and that they sell different ice cream at different times! She then gave an explanation : “we can’t keep up with demand”! How strange I thought, all the other places selling Treleavens ice cream seem to keep up! Anyway, you really should keep information on the internet up to date! It’s very annoying to drive, park, walk. Only to find that what is advertised is not available any more and you’ve completely wasted your time!

It was our first day down there and I was determined to have tea and scones. The place itself was lovely, the inside was very small, but had a lovely open country garden feel to it, then there was a large gazebo outside and then also lots of normal picnic tables all behind a wall/hedge so you feel separate from members of the public in the gardens below.

Lovely place to sit in the sunshine but food extremely expensive for what you get. Barely a slice of bread (would have expected a baguette at least to go with the coleslaw and chutney). One thin slice of ham, small amount of cheese, some picked onions, the rest of the platter largely contained leaves Rabbit food at over £8 each! Rip off and took at least 20mins by which we had drunk our lemonade which came straight away-a ploy to get you to buy another drink?

. Pero soslayar la. plowmans.

However we must have waited at least 20 minutes for 2 lattes which were small and milky. I paid £8.35 for the 2 lattes and a soda drink. Love this little cafe with it's warm & stylish interior & super tasty food. The food is well cooked & has lots of flavour while the pricing is really affordable. The staff are friendly & attentive. Due to its lovely surroundings, the whole place feels like an oasis in the middle of an otherwise sometimes touristy Newquay.

Read the reviews on here and made my mind up to try this place out for breakfast as we were staying on Trenance Caravan Park.I wasn’t sure where it was but soon spotted it on one of my morning walks set in the beautiful Trenance Gardens. The day we visited we arrived at 10.45 but they had a problem opening (10am-5pm) and we sat in the sun enjoying the gardens for 15 mins until they were ready. We placed an order for 2 coffees and 2 breakfast Sandwiches Bacon, Sausage, Egg and Cheese on granary bread. I was a little disappointed that they didn’t offer a full English plated, but the disappointment didn’t last long when the order turned up on big doorstops of morning fresh bread and it was beautiful. Really tasty Bacon and Sausage not the cheap nasty stuff you find in some places.I asked for a strong coffee and it wasn’t bad as I am fussy about strong coffee and I’m really only satisfied when I brew my own, but I enjoyed it and the wife finished her latte.I thought it was a little pricey for the 2 sandwiches, but to be fair I couldn’t fault them and the surroundings in which you sit and eat/drink are just stunning and for me worth the price.Really enjoyable start to the day, we will be back!

Beautiful garden setting but let down with the standard of food. Scones took a long time to come & they were dry & very disappointing just as well there was lots of jam & cream. Tea overpriced & served in a mug. On a positive note Staff very friendly. Would not come again.

The scones were delicious and he jam and clotted cream were fantastic! The staff we friendly and helpful too. And I love be fact they have local art work to buy on their walls. Would definitely recommend this place to anybody.

We visited "The Garden" while on a short cycling trip around Newquay and what a wonder transformation of the old cottages at Trenance gardens. We stopped for a coffee but quickly became aware of the lunchtime menu. A curry and a ploughman's lunch for the adults and some sandwiches for the children. Everything fresh and tasty although the ploughman's was a bit sparse in places. With coffee and tea the bill nearly reached £34 which I felt was quite OTT compared to the light lunch we had. On further investigation I note the children's fruit drinks, the size of a tea cup, were £2.50 each, way OTT... I do hope you find the correct balance between freshness and quality of the produce and service in respect to your pricing. We will be back sometime in the future, but will be looking closely at the value before hand.

We recently attended the pasta night at The Garden and have to say the food was delicious. I went for the Spag Bol, it was full of flavour and tasted delicious. The rest of our group really enjoyed their food also and we had a variety of dishes. The service is very friendly and we will definitely return.

This café is just perfect for an afternoon tea. The setting is lovely (old Cornish cottage overlooking pretty public gardens). I liked the vintage crockery and the tiny kilner jars for cream and jam, and the unusual savoury tea of cheese scones, cheddar and home made chutney. I thought the teapot could have been bigger for two people and the local Tregothnan tea is an acquired taste. The service was friendly and efficient.

As a local we visited the cafe a few weeks ago. We had two large lattes and a rhubarb crumble with clotted cream. The price was a reasonable 7.80. we visited again today and had two lattes but was charged a whopping 6.50 for the two. Is this "summer season" or was i overcharged. 3.25 for a latte is rather steep. Needless to say it has put me off coming back to this cafe, which is a shame because its a lovely cafe in a lovely setting, but i cant bring myself to contemplate paying this much for what is basically a cup of coffee.

Found this delightful upstairs cafe by chance and had some of the best vegetarian food for a long time. We were made very welcome and chose the hummus bowl and roasted veg toasted sandwich. Both were excellent and very filling.

I've only ever called in for a beer but no complaints so far and staff are nice too. There's a big beer garden which is very useful for the kids and dogs.

The ice creams here are beautiful! Really generous portions and are very well presented. The customer service we received was outstanding, my daughter had a massive meltdown (ASD) and they were nothing but supportive, understanding and helpful. We'd had a very tough day today with meltdowns galore and this one was by far the worst of the day yet I never felt alone or judged. People like you make the biggest difference and I am so very grateful for you going out of your way to help and care. Thank you x
