Fantastic Indian styled restaurant, hidden away down a side street from the A5 in Towcester. Food was tasty, hot, fresh, and cooked to perfection. I usually find it hard to find that combination all in one place. The Ganges have nailed it here with regard to food! The staff, and their service was all top notch. Could not fault anyone in there. They were all friendly, and very welcoming. One guy even ran out in to the car park to remind us that we had left something! Location is fair. It does feel a little hidden away being down a side street. When entering the premises you get the vibe of it being an old pub. The toilets for example confirm this point. Whilst it appears clean, this place is deserving of a refurbishment. Parking may be difficult during peak times. If you’re local, you may find it better to walk. I would certainly come back. This has to be one of the best Indian style meals that I have had out in a long time. Highly recommend!

Delivery service was very bad because there was a mix up over my address which resulted in me not receiving it until much later than ordered. Even though l give my address and postcode when ordered. No apology or compensation. I'm thinking l will order from another takeaway in future..

4 of us eat on a Thursday evening which is their banquet night. Starter main course and a side dish+ coffee for 14.99. Absolutely beautiful food. Warm and comfortable surroundings, and spotlessly clean. Would highly recommend .

Went on a Thursday with my Dad. Banquet night. Lovely service, delicious meals. Rich, creamy, thick sauces. Juicy chunks of meat. Naan wasn't greasy or soggy. Dining area was clean. Polite and incredibly helpful staff!

We had a table for 10 for two special birthdays. Firstly the welcome was fantastic as we all arrived at different times. Well looked after in the bar. All seated on a table with balloons and they accommodated a special birthday cake. The food was both hot and delicious! The whole of our group loved the starters and mains. Taste and presentation was first class. As a family party we were not in anyway rushed and the all the staff went out to make sure the evening was just perfect. The whole family all said they would want to come back again here. So we really couldn’t recommend this restaurant enough. Food 5* Temperature 5* Service and bar requirements 5* Hospitality 5* Cleanliness 5* We have, as a local couple, eaten in all the Indian restaurants in and around Towcester and this one really stands out! The staff deserves all the praise!

Best Indian takeaway we've tried in the area. The Butter Chicken (House Special) is really special and the Naga certainly packed some heat whilst remaining super tasty! Loved the Tandoori Chicken Jalfrazi (off the bone) and the Garlic Naan are very good!

We have eaten at Ganges many times now and always experience a warm welcome from friendly staff, excellent service and a high standard of food giving good value for money. The owners have made the best of unpromising surroundings in a former pub. Having a car park is a bunus. We travel specially from Northampton and it's always worth the trip.

We've now been twice and rate this place highly. Very good food and attentive, friendly service. Atmosphere is a bit lacking in a converted pub but they've made a good job of the decor. We travel from Northampton and we'll be there again soon.

Last minute booking, food was fantastic. The spice level was actually the spice level which is rare ! Everything came out warm and freshly prepared. Mixed started was really nice, popadoms were plentiful and as expected and the main course (Jalfrezi) was incredibly tasty and nice and spicy. Staff were attentive, drinks were offered as soon as needed, was given an option for a gap between starters and main - just all round great service and fantastic food.

Probably the best curry house in Northamptonshire, if not the UK! Awesome food, the staff are all really friendly and helpful. I've never been let down by the food or service in about 5 years of coming here. Highly recommended for dine in or take out

We decided a curry night was in order so we booked into The Ganges Restaurant in Towcester. The restaurant is quite large and for a Thursday night it was very busy so booking is recommended. Menu is excellent and the presentation of the food served looks great and the flavours are just superb, all three of us really enjoyed our dining experience. The staff are just excellent. Thank you 🙏 we will be back again & again !

I ordered a takeaway from the Ganges on a Friday evening at 7.12pm asking that it be delivered asap. Whilst I accept that Friday evenings are busy one hour later I called went through my order and address and was assured that it was out for delivery and would be with me within 20 minutes. Another hour passed and still no delivery so I called again only to be told that that it was on the hot plate and would be delivered in 5 minutes. Very odd given that I was advised previously that is was out for delivery ! Finally after a further phone call stating that it had been delivered to the wrong address. All in all very unsatisfactory we won’t be using them again and if you do order be prepared for a long wait and a multitude of contradictory excuses for late delivery.

This is a very good Indian. The starter was unusual but very tasty, the naan one of the best I’ve had and the curry was hot but full of tastes. Very good overall

Great food and even better service best night out for ages

Everything was fine other than my Madras sauce , it had to many green peppers in it so that's all I could taste and I mean to many but we had a meal in the Ganges at Xmas and my Madras sauce was fantastic so I presume there must be a new chef preparing the food now . Back to the Dilraj for me until they improve the Madras sauce . It's a shame because everything else was great including the breads , rice and my wife's massala .

Consistently fantastic. Food turned up piping hot and nice and quickly. The driver had wonderful customer service. Our food was delicious - the butter chicken was rich and indulgent, the madras was flavourful and full of texture, and the chilli masala was silky but punchy. Our naans and roti were nice, fluffy and fresh - with the garlic naan being fresh and giving a nice garlic bite, and the keema being perfectly spiced and not overly oily, like it can be in other restaurants. Rice was cooked to perfection and the flavours of the garlic and mushroom complemented and diffused excellently throughout. I can’t think of anything that I would have changed. A perfect meal.

The food is amazing and the service is excellent. The banquet night on Thursday is such good value ,big portions and lots of choice. 100% recomend.

There is a reason for the 2 stArs, we have been there a few times and the food has tasted good, and the customer service has been great. However after each time we have been there someone has thrown up, they have all said they don’t feel ill but it’s something that they have eaten. The incidents about 6 hours after. So really anti eating there again.

Ordered take away , The Bombay potatoes were so hard, you could’ve broke a tooth on them. The chicken madras was disgusting and the chicken tasted like it had been overcooked, It had a really weird taste. ordered late due to working commitments and spending £25 on something that basically went in the bin.

Always spot on. Had the Ganges special curry last night for the second time, probably my favourite dish now. Always hot on arrival, and very tasty.

The onion bhajis were like tennis balls with no flavour whatsoever. My main course was very bland. I did not enjoy the meal at all this evening will not be returning to the Ganges again.

This a popular restaurant in Towcester, and it's worth the visit. The food was good and good value. There is parking outside and easy access for all. Staff were very friendly.

My wife went with a large group of friends and paid a special “group rate” which turned out to be more than if they had simply paid the menu price. On top of this the drinks were hideously expensive. For example a (single)G & T charged at £8:10 (Schweppes tonic btw!) What is most disappointing is she wrote to the management oh the Ganges voicing her disappointment but has not even had the courtesy of an acknowledgement! She and the other seventeen ladies (all local) in the party will not be hurrying back anytime soon!

At our sons house needed a takeaway. Ordered using the app asking for delivery at 8pm and it arrived on time even though the house is well hidden. Some lovely extras to go with our order which has to be one of the best Indian meals we have had. We come from an area with supposedly the best in the country. Definitely recommend

Feel really let down. We ordered a takeaway last month for delivery, it took over 90mins to arrive and food was cold. We gave them the benefit of the doubt (as food normally good) and decided to collect next time. Ordered at 7.20 and was informed we could collect in 50 mins. My husband has been gone an hr to collect. Thanks for ruining our precious family time.

After a few recommendations we decided to give this Indian a try.

We came here as a family for dinner, after hearing good things, it wasn’t very busy however the wait to take our order, be served our drinks and then food was just really long we don’t mind waiting, but an hour and a half since we arrived to when our food was served is just a little too long for anyone to wait, Ino that there was a lot of takeaway orders as there was always people coming in and going but if you’re going to be an eat in restaurant too you need to also focus on them customers, maybe invest in some more chefs so that people who are eating in don’t have to wait so long for their food. The restaurant itself could do with some TLC, it’s not very warm feeling more like a cheap buffet restaurant. Could be really nice but needs a few tweaks and better service as the food was nice but no better than other places we have been. Maybe just stick with take outs and not an eat in service.

We visited Ganges on a Friday evening, we arrived at around 6.45 and the restaurant was already fairly busy with both customers dining in and others waiting for takeaway orders.

Ordered a takeway like we have done on several occasions and it never arrived.

We have never visited but we do have a delivery from the Ganges once a month. Good quality food at a reasonable price. Will visit the restaurant itself one day.

This is a converted pub, and is very pleasant inside. The food is OK, and perfectly acceptable without being outstanding.

My husband and I ate here one evening when we really couldn't be bothered to cook supper. We both enjoy Indian food and can tell our aloo paratha from our chapatti. Sadly this restaurant is more takeaway than sit down dining. There were streams of takeaway customers but very few seated. The chicken curry was served cold! My mixed meat tandoori was overly cooked with tough chicken, lamb and prawns. The yoghurt in the cucumber raita was split and runny. The bill for two with a bottle of wine was £54.
