I asked for vegetables to be added with the paneer dish which they didn’t do, i’ve called up in the past and they said if i ask in notes they would add the vegetables and i’ve done it many times, it ruined the meal. I also didn’t think the chicken was nice at all and the sauce which i got didn’t taste how i usually have it from here. overall £40 out the window.

One of the best restaurants in the area if you like Indian food. Always good in a lovely location. Fast, efficient service with a smile. Highly recommend.

We went last evening for the 1st time. We will most definitely return. I had the best biriani I've ever had! We all had different meals and every one was fantastic. Service was excellent. Can most highly recommend 5⭐

Absolutely amazing food, great interior and super friendly staff. A brilliant place to stop if you’re mooring up on a canal boat at Stoke Bruerne too (and some great pubs next door for a cheeky pint if you’re waiting for a take out).

What a little gem in a great position right next to the canal There was 5 of us for dinner and everyone thought the food was amazing 🤩 None of the dishes looked the same which is something I have found in other Indian restaurants I had the chicken Naga which was absolutely delicious. Spicy but not overpowering All my friends said the chicken in their dishes was exceptional, not to dry and cooked beautifully The service was great as well as the team looked after us and we’re all a hard working and friendly team We can’t wait to return and I highly recommend this place 👌

We used to get salad and sauce with chicken tikka. Last order we only received a starter portion not a main, however paid for the main. 4 years on, time to look elsewhere

What an absolute find! We moored just up the way and really fancied an Indian meal. The entire evening was absolutely wonderful, great staff and service and the food was sublime, great taste and just the right amount of spices. It was so good that we went back the night after to the same excellent food and service. We found the price to be very reasonable for our meals and wine. We will be travelling back this way in a couple of months and will certainly be returning.

I was served RAW chicken. I will never be going back, this crap gave me the runs. Please never order chicken from this place, also no discount was given but instead gave me a new meal that was smaller than the first one but luckily it was cooked but didn't eat it as i was felt sick. #SORTITOUT

Historically the Spice of Bruerne has been a bit variable in both service and food but I have to say so far in 2024 it has been very good. We have prev ate in the restaurant but the last few times have had a delivery and it's been very good. They also are one of the few places that deliver to Hanslope which is about 6 miles away and they do not charge extra for this. On-line ordering is v slick plus there is a matching app too. Spend over £20 ordering online and you get 10% off - which I end up giving to the driver as a tip!

This place is always very expensive for what you get. What you order is simply what you get & nothing more whereas some other places will add in a few extra poppadoms with sauces and salad for free. I paid £4.50 for a small portion of garlic rice.

Ordered from here to make a change from my usual. Food was 40 mins late as I pre ordered. Popadoms has a weird chemical taste. Aloo Ghobi was full of cauliflower stacks rather than the head. Chicken was tough in the jalfrezi. Wouldn’t order from here again!!!

Excellent food, delivered earlier than expected

Food mostly tasted great, however the King Prawn Bhuna was crushed at the bottom of the bag and had spilt. Also only had 5 chunks of chicken in my Butter Chicken, and the dish was only half full. The house special naan bread didn't really taste as described; there were a few tiny scraps of tikka inside it. It wasn't the taste explosion I'd imagined from the description. Crab starter was very tasty, but again not much crab in it. Keema rice was nice. Disappointing portion sizes compared to other restaurants.

All good here portions could be a little more generous..as we're in the small side but other than that service, and taste all good

First time of ordering from these guys and certainly won’t be the last… delicious with each dish distinguished in execution, well done chefs you have delivered a fine example of delight, keep up the great work, we will be back ….

Beautiful food and plenty of it.

Food was delivered in original time window given, but an hour after it said the driver left. Food was soggy and cold when it arrived, and every item required either re-cooking or microwaving to make them hot and/or crisp again. Very disappointing from a usually good restaurant

Not impressed. Food is poor. Food tasted old… fed up of the restaurants around here!! Disappointed AGAIN!

We had hired a narrowboat and were looking at Google Maps, to find somewhere to eat. We gave Spice of Bruerne a try and were not disappointed. We all agreed it was one of the best meals we had every had. As an additional bonus it was a sensible price as well.

Best curry I have had for many a year. We had a table of six, with six different meals. Absolutely flawless, would thoroughly recommend.

Beautiful meal, food was fresh and tasty, served hot. Very friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere. This is our third visit, we have moved an hour away but will happily make the journey to visit.

Oh my word ! I tried their new dish, the Zaytoun ( not sure of spelling ) I had it as a slightly hotter madras and it was delicious . I’ve been coming here for years and have never been disappointed. The staff are so friendly and polite too.

Bhuna nice but not a lot in the tray. Dansak edible but didn’t taste like any Dansak eaten before. Bit disappointing

Odd one … ordered 2 of the same dish but came different, one was thick sauce other was this & one much spice hotter than the other but an ok meal all the same

Food is disgusting. I tried this a few years ago and decided to give them another try. Still not nice food. I might as well have just put money in the bin.! So bad. Just so bad. How can this place be allowed to sell food. Avoid this dump.

We had a fantastic meal , very tasty and the perfect balance of heat and spice, everytime we come here it's outstanding.

Pretty poor. Took 2 hours and 15 minutes to arrive, with only one update after 2 hours to sayi t woudl arrive with me 3 minutes before the update actual arrived and it still dint arrive for another 15 minutes. Wont use this service again.

I'm not generally a curry lover however I got chatting to a smashing couple having a drink outside The Boat Inn - and they persuaded me to join them for a meal in Spice of Bruerne. I was really pleasantly surprised. There was plenty of choice on a good menu, I thought prices were reasonable and the food I had was really very good. I shall come here again next year when visiting Stoke Bruerne.

I chose this restaurant for my birthday meal in June 2018. I asked for my food to be boxed to take home. When i noticed there was virtually no food in the bag when received, they explained it had gotten dropped on the floor, and thats all that was left. I was unhappy apoy that they were not even going to mention this and they agreed to replace the food, but when i got home, the food was inedible and unrecognisable as being my dinner and had obviously been taken from the bin (they didn't even deny taking it from the bin). They ignored my request for a money refund (which was only £15) and ignored all the court paperwork. They have now defaulted on their payments from the bailiffs office and still owe me money. Stay away from this Restaraunt at call costs. Update.....I have since gotten payment through bailiffs, and they have had to pay costs of £170.00.

Despite arriving on a very busy evening with some large groups we were made to feel very welcome and well served. The flavour and portion sizes were well above average with a contrast on flavours and plenty of meat in both dishes. A lovely meal in a warm friendly venue.

Fabulous meal with excellent service. I only gave 3 stars for atmosphere as my party of 4 people were the only ones in and it was quite cold in there. We did eat early, about 6pm.

Disgusting. Couldn't eat it. Tasted off and was vile. Ordered from here regularly but food is totally inconsistent. Latest food completely inedible. Contacted them, didn't want money back, told manger would contact us but nothing. Would not eat there again.

Impeccable service and quality food! Staff were well accommodating and felt at ease. The food arrived and our mouths just watered. Definitely going to be our regular spot.

Over Charged us by over £10! My wife placed the order but i didn't know what she had ordered when I went to collect and so I just payed it. Only when I worked it out later that it came to light. Food average for the amount they charge too.

My wife ordered a take away and when I picked it up they charged £61. I thought that was crazy money but didn't know what she had ordered. Later worked out that even with their extortionate prices it should only have been around £53 and that's without the discount for picking it up! Food was okay but not worth the cost.

Been Going here for ten years for my Indian great food always, great service great location wouldn't go to any other curry house the best in Northamptonshire for sure and I've eaten at all of them👌🏼

Just had a takeaway and the chicken was so tough and dry we couldn’t eat it. The quality has definitely dropped over the last 6 months we’re local and always use them. Will be trying elsewhere.

Have been a loyal customer for years but last night our Oder was the worst chicken tikka I have ever had it was disgusting and my partner agrees. Standards have slipped and I would not even feed it to my dog. Not happy at being over charged for such a disgusting meal either

Food was great but this the second time I have ordered that it has been over an hour late. Everytime I ring they just say it’s on its way. I only live 3 villages away and it took an hour 10 minutes

What a shocker. 55 minutes late. Chased numerous times and told ‘5 minutes away’ every time. The food was bang-average. Not a patch on Arimitas, The Rani, Far Cotton Tandoori. A poor imitation of Indian food. If you’re south of the town centre, this should be well down you list if you fancy a curry. My wife called to speak to the manager this evening (our meal was yesterday) and was shouted at. She was told she was lying, and that snow and ice was to blame for the delays. There was no ice, and the snow was not to blame for ‘5 minutes’ being used to appease hungry waiting customers. £120 on a wholly disappointing experience for me and my guests. I cannot state in strong enough terms….just go elsewhere and get something great for your money. As well as sharing my experience here, I will share on local Facebook groups, for Roade, Hartwell, Hanslope and countless other forums. There was an opportunity for the restaurant to show some contrition and attempt to put things right. But nothing. Nothing but shouting. The cost of not just apologising will be felt.

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED with not only my food being delivered OVER AN HOUR LATE but the food had leaked all over each other in the bag, the food was LUKE WARM at best and the NAANS WERE BURNT AND INEDIBLE. All I was offered was a free side next time I order with them. I find it very bold of you to assume I’ll ever be using this takeaway again. I can only afford to treat me and my daughter once a month so to say we were both disappointed is an understatement but to also be down £40 is disgusting. I did attempt to call the restaurant but my call wasn’t answered.

Still the best curry we’ve had around here! Staff are always so friendly! Food is always hot when it arrives and curry is always so tasty!!
