Moghul Rooms in South Northamptonshire

It's a level above in fresh flavour and differentiation between dishes. Taken family and work visitors there - got a big thumbs up from Kansas City and Rhode Island!

Went here last night and all I can say is wow ! The food was amazing and the portion sizes were not what i expected them to be. There was that much food on my main dish that I couldn’t finish if. More than fair prices too for the amount of food served. Staff very friendly and quick to take care of any if your requirements. Will definitely be returning here more often. Honestly can’t find anything negative to say on this restaurant 10/10 a great find and will be recommending it to anyone asking for a great Indian restaurant

Stayed in a house in Towcester and ordered a curry for 12 people. The gentleman on the phone was polite and helpful, the food was delicious and plentiful. It arrived in a quick time and all enjoyed. Would highly recommend if staying in the area

My partner and I spent a night away in Towcester (the first time we have been here) and were trying to find somewhere to have dinner when we stumbled across **The Moghul Rooms**…. with no prior knowledge of the restaurant or its menu, we took a chance and were rewarded with an exceptional dining experience. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by Norman, who seated us at a quiet, intimate spot for two in the restaurant area - setting the perfect tone for the evening. We started with a round of popadoms and condiments, which were a great way to kick off the meal. For starters, we opted for the **Goan Chilli Chicken**, which was bursting with flavour, and the **Onion Bhajis**. Both dishes came with a side of salad, offering a fresh balance to the rich flavours. For the mains, we followed Norman’s recommendations and ordered the **Chicken Naga** which, hands down, was the best naga curry we’ve ever had. The heat level was perfect; spicy but full of vibrant flavours. We also tried the **Lamb Bossman**, which was an excellent choice as the curries complimented each other well. We couldn’t resist ordering both the **Chilli Stuffed Naan** and the **Garlic Stuffed Naan**, and while both were delicious, the garlic naan was the standout because it was smothered in fragrant garlic goodness. For dessert, on another waiter’s recommendation, we went with a traditional rich and creamy dish made up of milk, nuts and dumplings (can’t remember what it was called!), paired with a lemoncello shot (as suggested by Norman) - a unique touch that rounded off the meal perfectly. The food was beautifully presented, and the waitstaff were incredibly attentive without being intrusive, giving us the space to enjoy our meal and conversation. The service was top-notch, with the table cleared between courses and thoughtful recommendations offered throughout the night. In short, **The Moghul Rooms** is a hidden gem in Towcester. It offers a relaxed, chilled vibe with friendly, knowledgeable staff who clearly care about providing the best dining experience. This was a 10/10 experience, and we will definitely be back soon—next time to try the phall! Highly recommended and worthy of any award!!

Boss lamb curry is the best! I dine here regularly, such an outstanding curry, hence why I ALWAYS come here! It's THE BEST and addictive. Amazing service all round. Don't think about it, just get your table booked! They are busy

Amazing service, was delivered to us even though it was slightly out of their delivery area. Food was excellent,I would greatly recommend. The garlic chicken sizzler, SUPERB!

Highly overpriced for what you get. The rice was no more authentic than Uncle Bens, Chicken curry resembled a pot of jam as it was so sweet and full of sugar, onion Bhaji and mince kebab were dry and tasteless. Onion Bhaji was hard enough to use as rock for my rock garden. Peshwari Naan had parts which were not fully baked. Salad was fresh and the only good thing which we did not put in the bin and consumed.

Excellent dishes and experience

We have eaten here quite a few times since it opened and always rated it as really good however on this occasion it seems to have generally taken a turn for the worst. The chutneys and relishes served with the poppadoms were pretty mundane although the onion relish was crisp and sweet. Two separate chicken dishes appeared to be identical with just a different dressing on each. The loos were a disappointment with dirt and debris in the corners of the floor. Pipework not cleaned at all and mould around the edge of the handbasin. The staff were excellent as was the wine.

Do not listen to dietary requirements Tried to blame the system (yet keep taking orders on it all evening on this system, including the manager) Then said thought it only applied to starters (yet this came ignoring my dietary request and had to be sent back to kitchen who still left the ingredient in question on my plate) Main course came also with the ingredient Manager tried to blame system several times and said well we have other tables you know so can't deal with your dietary requirements.. Be warned if you've got an allergy, I would give this place a miss! Not worth the risk! Edit : in response to their reply which is incorrect. 1. They were notified when we arrived, hence why the starters were returned.. not "halfway through the meal". 2. All food with the ingredient was returned to the kitchen (as per my review) 3. Clearly I didn't eat any dish that had the ingredient on the plate.. nor would any other person who knew they couldn't eat that particular ingredient. 4. If they had apologised and not accused me of being in wrong I would have given them another chance...

This is my reply to the manager, couldn't work out other way to reply. We sat where we were put next to the kitchen, under a speaker. We asked for music to be turned down it didn't happen. Mint sauce usually has mint in it (clue's in the name), not mango. My husband ate his starter and one piece of mine, I ate only a corner of the rest it went back. We were not served any mains. We paid for what we had and left. I noticed that you speak about CCTV in another complaint maybe you should have a look and find out what happened to our mains if you can't account for them. To be clear we paid for what was served even though half was left uneated and un dunk. ORIGINAL COMPLAINT UNALTERED.... Sadly we were sat in a corridor next to kitchen with a speaker blaring 80s disco music at me. I asked if they could turn it down, but nothing happened. I hate waste so asked on ordering for a refrigerated coke with ice and was told that the ice would cool it. After a lot of effort they found a cold glass bottled coke. We had to share one menu so they came to take the order after only my husband had had time to think about it so I didn't get a chance to add a vegetable dish to our set menu which you get in other restaurants around here. I ordered the chicken tikka, sadly it was served a mango sauce and not the usual mint sauce so after being given plain yoghurt I decided to give up. I found it totally impossible to communicate with the load music, the to and fro from the kitchen around my seat and their set in their ways not understanding that soft drinks are served fridge cold and that mint yoghurt is as essential to tikka as gravy is to a roast. So we gave up paid and left preferring to go hungry. We'd lost our appetites and wanted peace. What was seating in the corridor all about? I could see a dining room in the distance with empty seats.

The reply is not true and what’s written is not correct and I never mentioned any other establishments or took menus home. Sorry wrong person and I wouldn’t have complained if myself and my partner weren’t sick! It’s a platform for reality and check my other honest reviews and they are all great and well deserved. Believe me if I have a good experience then I write it! My partner is very sick following this meal along with myself and she has now in a serious condition. The food was not good and the idea of a mixed fish starter was a few soggy calamari rings and not sure what else with curry sauce smothered all over it! Service wasn’t great at all and we were sat under noisy floorboards of people jumping up and down above us like a loud drum constantly throughout the meal. When I asked the waiter said it was people walking and to be honest it was more like a stampede of elephants! I feel very annoyed and am writing to be honest and how did my bill even get to the cost of £170 exactly and I checked on the menu and what we had added up to be so much less and was obviously rounded up to £170 on the card machine thinking on but I wasn’t feeling good and just wanted to leave. We feel physically sick along with my partner and stomach churning all night and no more detail there! So not a good experience. Feeling sick and ruined our bank holiday so far. So I call the restaurant and speak to the management and falls on death ears! Not happy and a complete joke!

incredibly this restaurant has the kitchen open even after 9pm, differently from all the other places in the country, initially I stopped only with the intention of eating something better than a sandwich or horrible pizza or kebab made without art and professionalism; then I realized that I ate really good food of good level and quality, even if despite having asked for slightly spicy products, I received spicy products above average, I wanted to realize that I could eat really good things and much better than other commercial food . I discovered that the waiter was able to anticipate my every need and support me in choosing dishes from a cuisine that I do not know, and he was really helpful and professional. Decided to travel out to Towcester from Milton Keynes to try this highly recommended venue and was not disappointed. Fabulous building.The hospitality was very welcoming as soon our party walked through the door. We all decided to have a starter and mains. The goan spicy chicken was extremely tender and very tasty with the correct spice level. With a very good selection, we all decided to have the Chefs Signature Dishes, Bos s lamb curry was exquisite and one of the best lamb dishes I've had in several years. With a very generous portion I found Moghul Rooms to be extremely good value. The staff are all so friendly and attentive. Looking forward to our next visit!

Despite getting off to a haphazard start where food orders were being taken before drinks orders, the Moghul Rooms turned out to be a good choice. The venue is a very old large period building with crooked corridors and high ceilings. It was quite busy overall during this visit. Food was good quality and had an authentic taste. The Shish Kebab starter could have benefited from some additional sauce and be a little warmer, but overall was good. The Garlic Chicken Sizzler was super and recommended. Pints on draught are Cobra & Madri. Price we paid for two persons was £55.00 There are numerous Indian Restaurants in Towcester to choose from and the Moghul Rooms shouldn’t be overlooked. It’s situated on the main High Street.

Just had our first ever curry delivered from The Moghul Rooms. I t was excellent, so fresh, light and perfectly spiced. We we definitely recommend to all our friends.

We were served by Manny who could do enough for us! The restaurant is beautiful and had a lovely atmosphere. The food is INCREDIBLE! The best curry I have had in a very long time and the portions are generous. We will go no where else for our curry’s from now on!

Was recommended to the Moghul Rooms by a friend. I don't often write reviews but I felt compelled to on this occasion. Everything about this place is simply superb! The staff are so friendly and welcoming, the place itself is lovely with a good mix of old and contemporary decor. And the food is fresh and authentic, no sloppy sauces here - amazing! Don't think we will go anywhere else from now on. Well done to Moghul Rooms - you are smashing it!

Amazing food from The Moghul Rooms. We visited on a Friday afternoon and were made to feel welcome straight away. We attended with our 2 year old boy who was treated like a guest. He was called sir, and asked himself if he was finished as the next course came out. The service was fantastic from the gentleman in the Pickwidz Room but the food was impeccable 👌 would 100% recommend and will be going back!!!

Not sure why they have such good reviews, all very bland, the jalfreizi wasn’t even spicy, mixed starter very disappointing, one piece of dried up chicken another piece of lamb also dried up. A tiny simosa and an onion bhaji, should have just had onion bhajis as it was the best dish. Not sure what else is around here but I’d not come here again

Well, where can I start!!!!!! My husband bought for me as a combined Christmas and wedding anniversary gift, a weekend away for 2 nights in Towcester- so for our anniversary dinner out out- with not a child in sight (🙈😀😀), we had to find somewhere to eat for our Saturday night. We found this wonderful and charming Indian restaurant literally next door to the hotel we were residing at for the weekend- and ut was quite honestly the best Indian restaurant we have visited in many years !!! We did book in advance, and upon arrival we were greeted by the manager who allowed us to choose a cosy table at the back of this beautiful restaurant, plus as I am disabled and can't manage stairs it was easier for me to be tucked out of the way (my choice!!) All the staff went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and settled and drinks were swiftly on route- we ordered a bottle of the house wine at about £23 or there abouts- as my husband didn't have to drive and it was our anniversary!! Soon after drinks we had a serving of the most delicious poppadoms- fresh, crispy and just yummy 😋 (and served with a couple of condiments to go with) My husband had a starter of the tikka paneer and the sweet chilli chicken and I did try some- we were blown away at the flavours and the aroma- just delicious!!!(I didn't have a starter as I knew I would never manage my main) he had the king prawn shashlik bhuna for his mains- they were huge!!! More like mini lobsters!!! Delicious, a hint of spice but not too much to overpower the delicate prawns, also for mains we had peshwari naan, and a plain naan plus a side of the pilau rice, I had a main meal of the lamb bhuna- oh my goodness!!! Let's just say I was full to the brim - it was simply the best lamb bhuna I've had for a very long time- the flavours so delicate, the lamb so tender- and there was a lot of lamb within the dish!! The restaurant is beautifully designed and the decor is romantic, small tea lights lit on every table, and what we both loved was that there was no music blaring out, just the simple humdrum of people chatting over equally delicious looking meals. It was personal and we felt like we were made to feel special, like we were the only table in the whole building! We have said we WILL travel back from our home town outside Cardiff, some 200 miles, just to go back for another meal- and we will!!! There are no vast number of tables, so no, the restaurant isn't huge, but it was full by the time we left an hour and a half or so later- at no time were we made to feel we had to leave as there were people waiting- so thank you to the whole team for making our anniversary meal one to remember and savour - we will be back ❤️ 😊

This was my first visit to the area and to Moghul. I have to say the food was amazing along with the service. The decor of the restaurant was very unique and cosy. I highly recommend giving them a visit when you're around in the area.

Pretty average to be honest! We got moved seats firstly, then my partner given the wrong wine, when we questioned this they took away and bought back saying it was right - food was nice enough but over priced for what you get, especially compared to the other Indian Restaurants in Towcester - online menu said tikka masala came with rice but it didn’t (if this only a takeaway thing that should be more clearer), in summary, not for us, over priced, not good value for money and not the best customer service experience.

Great Sunday lunch offer! Nice Indian restaurant in Towcester – good food, good service and good atmosphere in the evening; but they also do a really good Sunday lunch offer – a choice of starters, mains (from the traditional chicken / meat / veg / paneer as a korma / bhuna / pathia / jalfrezi / madras dishes) plus rice or naan for £14. They are also really good suggesting veggie and vegan options.

Incredible food, so fresh and full of flavour. The staff are extremely polite and friendly, gave our daughter some free ice cream. We’re never disappointed here. Thank you 🙏

The restaurant itself is stunning with a great atmosphere. I loved the rustic decor and also of course the delicious curries. Some of the high lights we had were the… lamb boss curry, special mixed sizzler and the goa chilli chicken. All curries were at the right spice level along with the right flavours. On top of that we had excellent service from all the staff - 10/10

Got a menu drop in the post, haven’t heard of the restaurant before, decided to pop in, WOW, what an atmosphere and enthusiasm from Ali and the rest of the staff I saw, had a full on conversation with Ali about this ethos and menu, and how he uses and prepares his food, ordered a selection from the menu for takeaway, I’m gonna try the boss lamb curry next time I go on recommendation, but the food I ordered was very tasty and not greasy at all, gotta say the food was good and I’ve booked a sit down meal for a bunch of us, I’m looking forward to trying something different from the menu, well worth a visit if your local or not. One thing I noticed there was quite a few people dropping in to dine, good sign in my books, Decided to take my self and some mates to have a sit down meal, the whole experience was buzzing, very busy atmosphere but under complete control and tended to at the right moments, food didn’t take too long to arrive and made some small alterations to the ordered food with no stress at all, the food was as high standard as I had the last meal, went for the boss lamb curry as recommended by Ali, very tasty and a good bit of heat as well, the 4 of us ordered different meals and all were of very high standard, I think I found my new favourite takeaway/resturant, it’s just nice food and that’s what everyone wants, with very good service, absolutely no complaints.

This little gem of an institution is hidden away in Towcester which is in West Northamptonshire. This place is roughly a half an hour drive from my actual house. Me, my friends & associates frequent this establishment regularly. Although it is a little bit of a drive away, this is a solid testimony to their food, service and welcoming atmosphere. I would wholeheartedly endorse any of the dishes from their menu with a keen liking to the Boss Lamb Curry (I believe this is a signature dish) & also the Tabaqui Chicken. Furthermore, I am compelled to mention the appetising mixed starters. I’m sure the chefs and the business purvey their good from a higher quality business as I have always found the dishes to be rich, hearty and also full of flavour. Be sure to give this place a try and I can pledge to you that you will not leave anything less than gratified and satiated.

We had some amazing food. It was all so delicious but I especially loved the coconut nan. The staff were fantastic. They made us feel so comfortable and accommodated all our requests. The restaurant was so beautiful and unique. Definitely recommend

Drove past a few times finally decided to pop in after all the place is a talk of the town came on a tuesday the place was heaving i can understand why the food and service was way above average and couldn’t fault anything.

Came to see what the fuss was all about so glad we did spectacular food and service will definitely be returning regularly.

Went to The Moghul Rooms with the family and what can I say food was to die for, I would recommend the Jinga Jalsa a prawn dish which was mouth watering thank you Moghul Rooms for a great evening I will be returning.

Been to Moghul Rooms twice since it opened and was incredible both times! Even with a larger group, the service was faultless, nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Food was also incredible with a good range of options for all palettes, and the atmosphere is great! Prices are also super reasonable for the level of service and food quality. Takeaway is also just as tasty as sit-down service. Will definitely be returning!

Well, some friends of ours booked the Mogul Rooms following recommendations. Initially, we were impressed with the location, the decor and atmosphere, the service was good to start with and the order placed. The food arrived and it was fantastic, well presented, good portion size, and very tasty. Service was a little slow and sporadic, once we had finished plates were cleared and the general attitude of one of the staff was appalling. My beer was taken before I had finished, when questioned the staff member asked how much was left and then brought back my original glass as he put it with a small amount of beer in it (see photo), not even a replacement drink in a clean glass. Not impressed. We also challenged an extra drink on the bill and no apology was offered, instead "my bad" and altered the bill. When we complained to another member of staff, at least we got an apology, but no compensation or discount was offered. We felt very disappointed with the service we received and will not be in a hurry to return. The only reason this gets 3 stars is due to the excellent food.

The food was amazing, truly one of the best meals I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying. The owner was very genuine and seemed nice. Will definitely come again.
