The Gandhi in East Lindsey

Absolutely shocking starters, when does a portion of shami Kebabs arrive within an omelette? a portion of Seekh kebab is 1 kebab split in half. Chicken tikka masala arrived as a korma. The onion bhaji (easiest thing to make) is actually the finest sliced onions I have ever seen. Really is not worth the £150 for 4 drinks, 4 starters and 4 mains. WHERE WAS THE MASK.

Not recommended!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm utterly disappointed by the staff service. We were not treated equally as other customers. Firstly about the food main course was really nice but disappointed with the starters we had to send back an item without even touching it because it smelled spoiled. And there is this rule called"need to order all items together if not we will not take the order" I did not expect this. And tbh the management/manager and everyone in this restaurant are quite rude. Please please do not go to this place.

Been coming here for 10 years on holiday, 4 times a year in all,must have dined here 40+ times and never had a bad word to say about any of the meals ,give it a go ,draught cobra is pricey

First time we have been and it was very welcoming, service was quick and all our food tasted great. They also changed some of the dishes to our taste and was very accommodating.

Absolutely fantastic food. Great atmosphere. Excellent value for money. Eaten at a lot of Indian restaurants and this is the first time for a very long time I have found whole spices, cardamom and bay leaf, in a curry. If you are In the area pay a visit. Thanks to the chef and staff for a great evening

Ordered king prawn moderately hot curry with boiled rice and the wife went for the tandoori chicken. I eat a lot of Indian and I swear that at the grand old age of 65 I have never had better. The naan bread was staggeringly good quality and I knew I would eat it until I was sick if I didn't slow down. Unbelievably good...Best 60 quid ever. Minor grumble, the beer did not taste right. I've no idea why. Would not try that again.

Went skegness on a trip ordered food and did take away. High prices but no quality of it. Paid £4 just for one naan bread but it went like (photos attached) this after I just started eating it. Lamb bhuma was ok. roti was half cooked aswell.

First time at this restaurant and the last time. The experience was not good we were served by a dark haired, tattoo sleeved woman who took our order but when the dishes came she said Jalfrazi which was incorrect. When we actually ordered Dansak which is quite hard to get these two dishes mixed up. Then when we said it was not correct she became very rude and started blaming me and my partner when she was the one writing the order trying to blame us for not correcting her but me and my partner both never heard this mistake. So I believe she wrote it down wrong but said it correctly. The way this was handled was not professional as she raised her voice and people on the tables next to us were also shocked and looking over. We both are very easy going and never have complained anywhere before but I believe this was worth complaining about. we also agreed to take the jalfrazi to keep things at peace even though I don't like that dish. I hope the manager sees this and can sort certain staff out as it would be a nice restaurant with the standard of food just the waitress letting it down.

Our first visit , promptly seated . From start to finish the service was 5 star, the food was piping hot ( temperature) and taste beautiful........ would recommend this place to anyone

Tried to book a table for 10 people but was refused a booking as they can’t risk it as it might be busy ??? Basically told to walk in on the off change of a table free 😟 they don’t accept bookings

Had an amazing curry with my fiancé. Her chicken Bhuna was outstanding and my lamb Madras was the best I've ever had. My Tandoori Chicken was beautifully cooked. Fantastic food and service was quick and friendly.

What,can I say about this place. Except fantastic food,service and price. £62 for food and drinks. It was our first visit to this establishment and definitely won't be the last. Has to be five 🌟 around.

I've been coming here for supper for the past two weeks on a daily basis, and I haven't been treated properly. There's an elderly man wearing glasses who serves me; I'm not sure if he's the manager or the owner. He actually threw food on my table three times. He appeared to be serving me meals for free. In addition to the excellent meal, the other staff members are incredibly kind.

It's the sort of indian restaurant you visit because there isn't really any other choice while away. I like my curries saucy but the sauce was on the thin side and slightly bland, it's ok to visit if you fancy a curry but nothing to write home about. Restaurant was really busy so the service was extremely slow we had to ask the waiter to take our food order. I would visit again without doubt but it's only fair to leave an honest review.

Skegness is very lacking in Indian restaurants. Thankfully "The Gandhi" really good. Staff are amazingly friendly. The atmosphere is really good. Everything we had was to a high standard. Have been a few times now. Food is always excellent.

Called before going in at 6 to ask for availability and parking but declining the call after answering. When we got there at 7 there was a group of 8 us including children and we got told he wouldn’t serve us as he has no space and won’t give us how long the wait is. Straight up told us if you want wait then wait otherwise leave. Found this to be quite rude with disrespect. He had no regard for who the customer was surrounding and he served other customers before us and even they apologised that they were being served before us as even she knew we deserved the table before her. The staff is also treated very badly. They were told not to disturb the manager (who was dealing with us) and said to do your own job. There was worker who only started recently and was asking for some help and in return he insulted him and he asked him do you even know the spelling of coke? But the worker just took the insult with a smile. Personally I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to any Asians as they don’t really get treated with respect. The food if vegetarian has limited choices and the food is quite overpriced for what it’s worth. Our bill came to £150+ which was shocking as this was quite over budget to what we expected. The final bill that was drafted just had the final amount and not each individual amount to show how the bill was split. I normally don’t write bad reviews about restaurants but unfortunately I feel this had to be said.

On this recent visit nice food but very poor service. We ordered our food and had to wait 45 minutes for it to arrive,the next table waited an hour which is not acceptable. I complained and was told they were short staffed but they continued to take walk in customers which only added to the problem instead of turning some away so they could catch up. We come here regularly and this time was very disappointing which is a shame as the food was good. I think the poppadoms are way overpriced at £1.30 each!!!

For the first time in my life I felt bad while I am having food in restaurant. My batch mates from india want to taste the Indian food with Indian flavour but while we having food we felt really bad with rutheless humiliation. Especially the staff, while we ordering the food staff received is with humiliation smile. We order 10 Butter Nan’s and 1 chikken. Tikka masala, 1 chiken butter masala and 5 egg rice. We asked your staff for to get water idk her name but she laughed and brought water after 10mins. We can’t accept the food with disrespect. Does it mean that your staff showed racism on Indians? Even Indian restaurants can’t show respect to Indians?

We usually come to Ghandi for family meals, however over the past few years the service has gotten worse and worse! My family went last night to be rudely spoken to by the front of house. They seemed as if they didn’t want us there! We are a group of 5 which apparently could not be seated together and needed to sit at other ends of the room (even though we were stood next to two 4 seater tables which were available) we asked about these tables to be told we could not sit there due to them then losing money from us using 2 small tables rather than 1 large one. We definitely won’t be going again.

Have been craving a traditional style Asian restaurant for the longest time and this had everything I was hoping for! Great service, lovely traditional decor, incredible food and reasonably priced. Really enjoyed the experience and will be coming back everytime we’re in Skegness, thank you team!

Good curry with plenty of chicken, nans could be better, rice and chip portions could be bigger for price !!

Came here on Valentine’s Day, it was half full at 6:45. Upon arrival we was seated and our drinks order taken within a few minutes. By 6:55 we had our drinks and poppadoms. We was initially impressed however another couple came in at 7:10 and sat down and their food order was taken before ours(they had ordered their drinks and poppadoms a bit after they sat down and then their food order was taken, we had the same server too. Our order taken at 7:30. Food come at 8, brought up two special fried rice ( we ordered one special fried rice and one coconut rice) one of the fried rice was hot and one was cold and Ofcourse they took the hot one away so we had a cold fried rice. One of our naan breads was ordered with cheese and it arrived without cheese. We also had to remind them of our side order of Bombay potato’s. By the time all the food came correctly, most of the food was cold and unappealing. Food finished at 8:05, plates not taken until 8:15. Bill paid by 8:25 The bill was £74, I must say it was definitely not worth it. The service was absolutely shocking, the food was 3/10 - will not be coming back.

I spent an evening at the Ghandi restaurant on Saturday and I must say the was very good. I had a started of chicken pakora that arrived fresh and hot as well as being a good sized portion. I then enjoyed a chicken tikka madras the was full of flavour. The staff are friendly and they allow you to eat without a rush which is refreshing. There are the usual selection of both drinks and deserts which were ok if a little unimaginative. All in all a good place to eat and I will definitely go back again.

Amazing food great friendly helpful staff

I was visiting the area from Hampshire so did my usual Google search and thought this restaurant was the best of the options. Started great with parking on the road straight outside the restaurant (no car park). Service was very good and staff were friendly. We were a table of 2 and given a table by the window in a section set-up for tables for 2. Ordered our usual of Popadoms with chutneys and on this occasion no starter as was with my 8 year old Son. Mains were classics of Chicken Korma, Chicken madras, 2 pilau rice and garlic nan. Everything was fine but my madras certainly didn't taste like an Indian restaurant dish. In all honesty, it tasted like a jar curry rather than an Indian cooked dish. Whilst we were there and this isn't the fault of the restaurant, an individual who displayed signs of too much alcohol decided to come in (7.15pm) and order a takeaway. He left fairly quickly but not before shouting abuse of a colourful nature to the staff and customers. In response, some of the customers decided to throw abuse back with equally as colourful language. I spent the rest of the meal explaining to my 8 year old what had just happened and telling him that at least 5 of the words he had just heard shouted across the restaurant weren't for use by an 8 year old. Not the best experience for us but maybe better on a different night.

There were 6 of us that went for a meal, pre booked a few weeks before, after reading the reviews I was a bit apprehensive, I shouldn't have been it was a lovely evening the food was really nice and the restaurant was really clean we will definitely go back.

We were looking to book at the Saffron a few doors down,it was closed. So glad it was! We came here,4 of us & we all agreed it was the best Indian food we’d ever experienced. From the starter to the mains. The service was second to none. We’re from Leicester & we have Indian cuisine on tap so we knew what was what in regards to first class food. Will definitely dine here again. Ignore any negative reviews regarding bad service etc. you will NOT be disappointed!!

We have been to this restaurant for over 20 years, so it was always nice, but not any more. Service and hospitality were awful, we were not greeted, no welcome and no smiles, no interest in us, making our visit feel a little uncomfortable. The main courses and sauces and rice all came at separate times, and when the manager came over to ask what was wrong, he didn’t even notice that my main course was missing, and our grandsons had no rice. When we queried why the chicken tikka masala only had a few pieces of chicken, the waitress went away to check with the manager, before returning five minutes later to tell us that chicken tikka masala is a sauce dish, and you only get five pieces of chicken! We now understand why they are no longer busy on a Friday evening, and we won’t be going again.

Simply beautiful food, first time trying here and certainly won't be my last...

The food was beautiful but the service was shocking . Waiters constantly touching their body's their hair and faces and clothes with no hand washing. My food didn't all come out I was missing my curry after about an extra 15 minutes we eventually got our food after an hours wait and not many people in either. The food was beautiful 😍 but please stop smoking and touching your bodies start washing your hands more often .

We were given a table for two.. The waitress seemed very otherwise occupied.. Ordered starters v quickly & brought out quickly.. V tasty pickle tray. She wouldn't take our main order... Then wouldnt make eye contact.. Eventually after wed finished starters she came over.. Then said there's a 30 min wait for food... Which was annoying as we'd have ordered straight away if we'd known.. The 30 turned Into 60... Free drinks were requested.. Which they brought.. Then brought another round not knowing the first had been brought to us. Then tried to charge us for the extra round of drinks. Food was good.. Service was v frustrating and inattentive & very slow.

Good ambience. Loved the reviews about the restaurant so was excited about the food. Placed an order for King prawns, aloo paratha, bread and madras chicken curry. They came back after 40 mins and said aloo paratha is not available and closing the kitchen. Very very slow and the response is not so great. It happened with the people on other tables as well. Did not actually had a good experience. Taste of the good is average.

Well, where to start, having to ask for a drink 10 mins after the poppadoms came, then my wife does not like a curry with heat,so she always has a biriani , which in all the curry houses have been fine in the past , we told them after 2 mouth fulls that it was way to spicy, to be told that's the way they make it , they offered nothing in form of taking it off the bill or discount . Very poor , my advice is if you don't like spicy food , stay away .

We love Indian samosas but when we got here we noticed that the samosas were frozen in a bag not freshly made..... unfortunately this put us off ordering anything else just incase it's all frozen.for what we had 3 little samosas for £4.50.not too bad could have been better though.we give them 4/10. There is a good selection of drinks on the bar though as you can see on the photos

I have given a poor review before and am happy to say it must have been a bad day. Wow now, service as before is excellent and so is the food, in fact the Kahary is the best I've ever eaten. Really a must visit if you love a good curry

The food was good. But slightly spoiler by the over eager waiting staff. I had finished my starter and my partner was still.eatiny and he took my plate away. I felt a bit hurried . Also cash only as card machine broke. luckily I had cash or I'd have been washing pots. Manager was very grumpy and it all seemed a bit of an effort for.him. Food was ok. But overly topped with Coriander on everything. I'd probably not go again. Went on a nostalgia trip as I'd been 14 years earlier and it used to.be.amaziny..

After reading bad reviews, I thought I'd go see for myself and found the food to be amazing. Me and a friend loved it. The staff wasn't dressed formally, but were very pleasant and attended to us in a timely manner even though the restaurant was very busy. We even had a laugh with them. The restaurant was clean and well presented, and the toilets were also hygienically looked after, unlike other restaurants I've used. I highly recommend trying for yourself. Bad reviews ruin hard-working businesses like this one, and you can't always please everyone.. but I and my friends were extremely satisfied and will be returning again soon Thank you to everyone @ The Gandhi.
