Have always loved this hotel and leisure centre. I took my friend for a night away for her birthday. I couldn’t rate the staff highly enough. They were all friendly and helpful and enhanced our stay there. The food is always amazing and was glad to see the seafood platter back on the menu ( would be nice to see the Yorkshire one and the Italian one back on again) . We went for the hot stone back massage at the spa which was a great first experience. The room was way above our expectations and exceptionally clean and comfortable. Would highly recommend a night away there and we will definitely be staying again

We both had the garlic mushroom starter which had the appearance and tastelessness of tinned mushrooms and the breadcrumbs were just that... not browned in the oven or grill, just lumps of white breadcrumbs. Rest of meal was okay but not as good as it used to be.

We visited Sunday afternoon having just arrived at the nearby caravan site. Upon entering we were greeted by a young lady who promptly found us a table in the Conservatory drinks order was taken and arrived quickly considering how busy the place was. We all ordered different dishes from the menu 4 in total all were of excellent quality and plentiful in particular my grandson had the Sunday carvery an adults portion he got 6 slices of meat two of each of the ones on offer plus help yourself to yorkshire pudding and loads of tasty veg the service was excellent and the bill for 4 including drinks was a very reasonable £68 a thoroughly enjoyable experience

MORE AT TripAdvisor

Stayed at the Gamekeepers for 4 nights in June 19. The Inn is located in the middle of a mobile home and caravan park. the grounds were beautifully kept and it has leisure facilities including a pool. We stayed in an accessible room with a fab wet room and underfloor heating, however there are some issues with the room that need to be addressed. The mirror is too high to be able to sit and dry your hair, a person in a wheelchair would likely not be able to see themselves in the mirror whilst sitting and bear in mind not everyone is able to stand long enough to dry their hair. The door to the bathroom needs to open towards the room door, an individual in a chair would need to move beyond the bathroom door from the bedroom area and then open the door and back into the bathroom as the hall area is not really big enough to turn the chair around. I am not in a chair but do have some serious health problems but I feel a chair user may struggle. (disappointing really when they have gone to so much trouble to install an external chair/person lift ( all the site has steps and some areas are sloped). Also disappointed that no chairs to relax in the bedroom and also a great set of patio doors to a small courtyard shared with the room next door but no chairs to sit on - why have the area if not able to utilise it. Housekeeping not great bed not really made up just quilt pulled up, pillows not fluffed up, cups not washed and had biscuits on first day but never replaced! so not good. On a good note I slept very well which for me was great as I always struggle not being in my own bed. I read somewhere that the breakfast was complimentary which is incorrect as you are charged a Bed and Breakfast rate. This is the area I feel they really let themselves down as their cooked breakfast is good with quality products but on the buffet table was just juice (which was cheap variety as the cartons were also on the table), cereal and dried fruit. What would it have cost to put some fresh fruit salad and individual yoghurts (the norm in the majority of establishments) On the menu was the "healthy Option" of granola, fruit and natural yoghurt but you would have that as your breakfast it was either or. I am really struggling to understand as their meals in the restaurant are great and huge. Overall I felt that guests came second to the locals, the pub area is tiny with limited seating which in the main the locals filled, and with no relaxing chairs in rooms not anywhere to sit and relax. The young team of staff were very pleasant but again favoured locals even sitting down with them during the Wednesday evening quiz in restaurant area. Oh and please sweep and wash the restaurant floor it was filthy with food remnants all over it. It is very clear that a huge investment has been made but Management need to decide what they want to really achieve from the bed and breakfast side of the business. I am aware you have a lot of weddings which I assume take your rooms at the same time but that is not 365 days a year. A fab location I just feel attention to detail is needed, I would come back if the issues are addressed.

We a family of 5 booked a table for Mother’s Day as had been many times and never been disappointed until now. When we arrived we were told we were not in the bar or the restaurant but we were in the hall next door which I believe is a big party room where they do weddings etc. On arrival into the room we were never welcomed or greeted and left standing there for far too long until someone came we should have known then what was going to come, we were then seated on function trestle tables and banqueting chairs in what could only be described as a “pack them all in kind of event”! a room with no atmosphere and the worst live music which over powered everything so not one of us could even talk over the dreadful singing as it was so loud. Most of us chose the carvery which was bland and tasteless with only 2 veg available it was poor quality beyond belief, the Yorkshire’s were hard and over cooked and I could only describe everything as tasteless. Over priced, poor quality the service I have no faults with but the atmosphere/singer and food quality really let this place down would have been much better in the restaurant or conservatory, very poor from start to finish. When you book for a special occasion like Mother’s Day or Easter you think you are getting the pub you wanted not a banqueting hall with a terrible live music act and poor food quality. Do you do this to cram in more bookings on special occasions ? Funny thing is on exit we went into bar and there was not a sole in there or the restaurant ! Why do pubs do this ? Let pubs be pubs don’t be greedy with the bookings! Easy for you as a establishment but poor experience for the customers.

We had a very enjoyable time and a good Christmas meal. The dining room was large and I thought rather impersonal. There were other groups dining. Our table was in the window. I had Thai fish cakes which were delicious and just the right size with a good hint of chilly. Other starters were soup, and garlic mushrooms - and others which I can't remember. Comments were good about the garlic mushrooms. Next I chose the pheasant which was delicious, tasty and a good choice. Many of the group had turkey and some commented that it was bland. We enjoyed our Christmas lunch and we would return.

We went early evening. Had a drink in the bar which was very cosy. We then moved into the dining room and looked at the menu. There was plenty to choose from, but if you don’t have a large appetite ask for the smaller portion. I had the soup, carrot and cumin, it was delicious! My husband had the prawns and loved them. This was followed by a small fis and chips which was more than enough. I ad two starter portions as I have a small appetite. We chose a red Rioja wine which was delicious. The soup and prawns were accompanied by bread rolls. We loved it and will definitely return.

My 92 year old mother in law suggested Sunday lunch for her birthday treat. It was a carvery in a newly built extension, which was really impressive. Secondly the setting in Long Ashes was also impressive, very rural pictuesque setting. Everyone of our group thoroughly enjoyed their Sunday lunch and we all was surprised at the amount of meat they put on each plate, even too much for me. The whole meal was exceptionally tasty and everyone commented on. The prices were not that bad either at £14.95 for a 2 course tasty lunch. The staff were also really helpful and supplied a 3 year old with a free lunch, can't be bad. Will definitely recommend a visit, you will not be disappointed. We have been visiting the Gamekeepers and staying over for the last 8 years and have just spent the night there with friends for the first time after their great refurbishment. Absolutely blown away with the changes! They now have a wonderful events venue which is licensed for weddings too. They have added on a further six rooms which are exquisite. We stayed in one of the original rooms which is the family room with a separate bedroom and large lounge both with TV and a large bathroom with bath and shower. We have stayed in here before but was so surprised to see they have fully refurbed the 5 original rooms too. As always we had a great stay, the bar service is efficient and friendly and the food was exceptional as was the full english. It was Steak Night (Monday) so a large rib eye with hand cut chips, tomato mushroom, pepper sauce and a glass of wine. This was included in our deal of Bed and Breakfast and evening meal for two for £110 and could have upgraded to the new rooms for £10 each but we were more than happy with the room we had. Included in this price you have the use of the swimming pool, spa, gym which is next door and also a lovely coffee shop and hairdresser too. The setting is gorgeous and about a two mile walk to Grassington a lovely olde worlde village. Do yourselves a favour and book a room you will not be disappointed. if you like walking there are many gorgeous walks on your doorstep. We walked over Linton Falls to Burnsall along the river and back to Grassington about 11 miles of pure bliss!!!

All in all this really spoiled our visit and we will be thinking twice about returning. The management really need to make some changes and invest in some training in order to ensure the staff know about customer service. Dog friendly in the bar area with stone floors, comfy seating and a great barstaff. Several real ales available and at good prices too. Considerably cheaper than the Grassington pubs and hotels we tried over the weekend. Nice conservatory to the side where people were eating but not dog friendly in there so can't comment on the food. Young man called Luke was extremely courteous and helpful when I phoned to make a reservation and although he was serving behind the bar when we arrived, he came out to make sure we were well taken care of. We actually booked our wedding 11 months ago today after having an issue with a previous venue. From the minute we walked in to the wedding fair we were made to feel welcome. We had lunch to check out the food & we booked about an hour later. We of course knew that the venue was imminently being demolished and rebuilt but we were assured that it would be ready. It was...just! I cannot fault Stuart & Kim. From day one they have put up with us stopping by for lunch 'to check progress', our incessant emails and they both always made time to say hello and spend time with us as the date grew nearer.Stuart, Stuart's wife and Kim worked so hard in the week leading up to our wedding to reassure us and to get the venue ready on time and on the day itself they were absolute stars. We were both blown away by how beautiful the room looked for both the ceremony and reception. It was so much more than we could have ever wished for and all our guests equally loved it. The day was so relaxed, the food was as always amazing. No leftovers is always a clue! We cannot praise Stuart and Kim enough for their hard work. Kim really made the planning easy and relaxed and she is very skilled at what she does. The room speaks for itself, we loved it, all of it.

We live in Gargrave which isn't all that far from Grassington and Threshfield. We were recommended to try to Gamekeeper's Inn for lunch. As it turned out. the inn is part of a larger complex including a hotel, spa and an array of homes and holiday cabins. At the moment, the standard cost for a lunch main course in the Inn is just £5.95 which can be very good value indeed. My wife chose the fish and chips with mushy peas for her lunch. It looked very good and she described it as being very tasty with moist, firm fish inside crispy batter and with excellent chips. 5 out of 5 there, then.I chose the turkey roast with Yorkshire pudding, stuffing and a side dish of fresh vegetables. Unfortunately, I was less enchanted with my choice. The turkey was very, very good with plenty of gravy. (This proved to be an essential element as you'll see in a moment). By-and-large the vegetables were also very good - apart from some that had been cut into white blocks. Were these turnip? I wasn't sure, but they tasted very odd indeed - almost unpleasant, so I left them in the dish. But - and it proved to be a big BUT - there were two elements which I really didn't like. One was a disc of what I can only describe as 'hard, compressed' stuffing. The other serious disappointment was the large Yorkshire Pudding. It was hard at the top and chewy at the base and it became quite a challenge to drag it apart with knife and fork. Having done that, it proved to be very chewy - not the light concoction that should epitomise a good quality Yorkshire Pud. I hacked it apart and soaked it in the aforementioned gravy. That made it more palatable and it was OK. Even so, I gave up on trying to finish it when the gravy ran out.We had no reservations about the service or friendliness - both were excellent. The views were very pleasant and there is obviously an exterior play area for children.Because my wife's meal was so good, despite me having reservations about some elements of mine, I'll leave my rating at 4 stars in the hope that in any future visit(s) there will be no further disappointments. But on thing is certain - I will definitely avoid anything on the menu which is described as being accompanied by Yorkshire Pud or stuffing ... unless, of course, I take a flask of gravy with me.

We have always heard good things about the gamekeepers, and we were not disappointed. 4 of us had Sunday lunch, I had cod, which was very well cooked, served with creamy mash, and leek sauce, very yummy, the pork also looked delicious, very generous portions. Nice setting, and lovely and warm ,good beer as well,we will be back

We had lunch here as I had been previously and loved it. We were served quickly and efficiently at the bar and our orders were taken in the conservatory. There were crumbs and bits on the table from previous diners of which I wiped away with my napkin. The food was reasonably good but not outstanding, for example the bakewell tart was solid and tasteless. The worst thing was that there is building work all around with associated noise and there are only temporary toilets outside, and they were very dirty. Reminded me of Glastonbury.....say no more.

As a group of friends in the Vanmaster Association Caravan club we stayed at the Caravan Club site adjacent to Long Ashes. We decided to enjoy lunch together on Sunday at the Gamekeepers and 14 of us gathered and were accommodated together. Stewart the manager ensured everyone could enjoy the meal of their choice and anyone with special diets were also catered for admirably and without fuss. We were all impressed by the meal itself as it contained only fresh ingredients, was well cooked and presented and everyone was served together. They show the moto we don't serve fast food and this is true as we waited a short while for the first course, for those wanting three courses. Those only ordering main +sweet were not given theirs early but waited and were served all together. The portions are generous and well divided into meat and veg and of course Yorkshire Pudding. The service was first rate and as always the bar is well stocked and offers a nice range of cask ales and cider. Well done to all the staff who are interested in their clients and ensure you relax and enjoy a great atmosphere.

An utter delight and surprise. Not much of a drinker and being cautious of eating in new places when we have favouritesome already. The gamekeepers just took top spot for us. Born a farmers son and with my own lamb in the freezer I was expecting same old when ordering netherside lamb shoulder but what the reviewer received has my mouth watering even a week later. Slow cooked for 7 hours in a red wine reduction. With the addition of braised red cabbage to the veg included we all enjoyed mains and puddings. The conservatory styled dining area was airy and for me a lovely change from most of the dales pubs - however the main bar retains the character of the original building. No idea if the beer is any good but the landlord had a good reputation at his previous place, also local for keeping good ale. Waiting staff friendly and efficient at all times. Final note for the banoffee ice cream exquisite - served alongside a passion fruit sorbet, oh take me back there soon!

Having lived in The Yorkshire Dales for over 18 years and eaten at just about every pub and restaurant in the Dales, both lunchtime and evening, I have been most impressed with the Gamekeepers Inn at Long Ashes Park since it was taken over by new owners aboutthree years ago. The new owners had to overcome the previous owners dismal record and have done so, wonderfully. The lunchtime "lite-bite" menu at 5.95.GBP a head is exceptional value and the quality is excellent. There is no argument if you want to change mashed potatoes for new potatoes, or peas for carrots, etc.etc. The staff and chef are most obliging which is nice. The restaurant is a large atrium type building, all glass, but it can get a bit warm on hot sunny days. It is nicely set up at all times. The waitresses are simply delightful. Nothing is too much trouble and it is always service with a smile.Evening meals are also excellent and there is a theme evening every night. One should not miss the Sunday Roast special.

A really nice friendly pub just a short walk from the Campsite. We went on Tapas night and you could choose 3 dishes for £10. The food was really tasty and well presented. The pub looks nice especially the conservatory, although the toilets could do with a good scrub and re-decorating. The staff were really friendly and efficient. Had a lovely time.

I feel I need to review this restaurant again as the last review I gave was not complimentary with regards to the service and waiting staff when I visited it on Easter Monday. Anyway what a transformation the staff were very attentive and polite could not have been more helpful, all had a lovely smile when serving our table kept asking if they could help with any more drinks etc. an absolute transformation to our previous visit and the food as always was excellent. the staff this time was a credit to the restaurant when I visited recently. WELL DONE WE''LL BE BACK AGAIN.

I've eaten at The Gamekeepers before and enjoyed what I'd had. But my last visit wasn't so good as the steak I had was really tough (I'd asked for medium-well done but it was almost shoe leather). The people I was with also had some less than satisfactory food, with tough meatballs and a Barnsley chop that had loads of fat and gristle on it. On the plus side, the peppercorn sauce was one of the best I'd had and the sticky toffee pudding put the meal back on track.

I found The Gamekeepers online as we were due to visit Skipton and were looking for ideas to try somewhere new locally. This is not a place we would have found normally as it's a little off the beaten track and within a holiday park, so well off a main road. I am very glad we did find it. The food is all fresh and of a high standard and the ambience is great too. It was a good menu and as we were all in the mood for gammon, egg & chips we opted for that. We were very pleased all round and would certainly return as the menu had a broad number of choices and all the food around us looked good too.

We visited this hotel when we we staying nearby. It is quite large but I understand that it does get very busy as it is popular. Therefore it is probably worth booking so as not to be disappointed. We hadn't booked but we were late on Sunday afternoon and had I presume missed the busiest period. Nevertheless there were quite a few customers in there and we had to wait just a little time for a table to be made ready. There is a good choice of food on the menu. We both enjoyed our meals and they were of quite generous portions. The service staff were efficient and friendly and the food arrived quite quickly. We had a decent bottle of wine which was not over-priced.If I was to go again I would prefer not to be seated in the conservatory as although there were blinds of sorts we were rather too hot for comfort. We were right against the sunniest side. The staff did open some windows and then the side door which helped so they must have been suffering as well, but they then had complaints of draughts from others around the place. The hotel is clean and well presented with a friendly atmosphere.

This place is a really nice place. Friendly staff who are happy to help. .. but 2nd time of dining in this place I have asked staff if some dishes where alright for dairy intolerance diet. Both times staff have gone to kitchen to confirm there is no milk, etc in the dishes I was interested in. First dish was beer battered fish which got me up usual time of 2-3 am with sickeness and diarrhea. . Then 2nd was fish mixture which had hollandaise sauce which to my partner tasted like it had cheese and milk in it. I took a quick taste and discusted in the milk taste. Chef does not care what he gives out. The fish cake I had to give to dog afraid it may contain milk or cheese

Recently ate at the Gamekeepers as we were staying sat Caravan Club site next door. In fairness the food was alot better than I expected it to be. Shared starter so Hadoock goujons, olives and bread, and these were very tasty. My wife ordered the Butternut Squash and Goats cheese lasagne, as she loves Butternut squash and Goats Cheese. However whilst it was good, you could not really taste the butternut squash or Goats Cheese and she felt it was more like an ordinary vegitarian lasagne. I ordered one of the special which was Cod Loin with potatoes and pea puree. The cod was beautifully cooked, but the pea puree was full of cream, which made it taste bland, and also meant I couln't eat it due to having cholesterol issues. When one of the waiters came and asked us if we were enjoying our meal, he was very good and checked whether there was alot of cream in the puree and confirmed there was - he did offer to change this, but by this time I had eated half of the cod. So the food is good quality, I just wished the menu was a little more descriptive in what the dishes actually contain. One other thing the bar does have a good selection of beers including one very locally brewed real ale, which I thought was excellent!!

Have always enjoyed a drink here whilst staying with my sister and brother in law in their motor home. This visit my sister said she was determined to eat as well. The big problem on previous visits, and tonight was no exception, was the inconsistent service in the bar. We had called in earlier in the day to look at menus and find out if we would need to book. It took 5 -10 minutes before anyone paid us attention ( we could have been wanting to order drinks! ). When we returned in the evening, we wanted drinks so I waited at an outside table in the sun, 10 minutes later the drinks finally came. My brother in law and sister had to wait, along with others whilst the bin was emptied. Surely those jobs are for when there is a lull, not several people waiting to be served? ! The food was really good though and for that and the garden seating we will be back, but please sharpen up inthe bar.

Cosy and warm, tastefully decorated with lovely toiletries - a real gem of a place. The main pub is really cosy, with a gorgeous fire burning all day and evening. Following a little recce of the three pubs in Kettlewell, The Kings Head menu stood out for their selection. The service, friendliness of the staff and the food itself was outstanding. I chose to have the 10 hour slow cooked brisket of beef in a red wine jus with hot pot potatoes and seasonal veg. Worth every penny and the nicest meal I've had in a long time. I'd recommend The Kings Head to anyone planning a visit to Kettlewell.
