As usual The Galley provides the very best lunchtime snacks. Tuna sweetcorn sandwich full of tuna on delicious bread. Hot mug of tea to wash it down. I took two cream teas away to eat later with my husband. Large home made scones. There is nothing in Charlestown to beat this place and the prices are so reasonable. Try the crab sandwiches!! Fantastic

Visited Charlestown whilst staying in St Austell and found this lovely little outside cafe and even in the rain was beautifully decked out with umbrellas and blankets over the seats to keep a dry bum! Ordered a 2 sandwiches one crab and one Brie and bacon and two lattes - absolutely lush!! I can imagine this would be a little sun trap in the summer - would definitely return if we ever found ourselves in Charlestown again

Small cafe with outside seating only but large umbrellas which kept us dry through the odd shower. We had crab sandwiches on granary bread which were delicious, white meat only, and beef, Cornish Brie and chutney, again delicious. You get so much filling and the bread was so fresh. Great coffee to. Would definitely eat there again and recommend others to do so.

Very nice mugs of tea and a great latte. Two sandwiches ordered - cheese salad and tuna mayo. Good quality bread, thick filling, lovely ingredients, generous size. Scone and jam was tasty (but would be nice to have the butter at spreadable temperature). Staff are so happy and friendly and the prices are sensible. Plenty of seats outside in a little courtyard, with some covered areas and parasols for shade. No loos but there are public conveniences available close by and if you are visiting the museum, there are plenty in there.

What a fantastic place this is. Fresh and very well presented food at incredibly reasonable prices. We had the crab sandwich made with granary bread and full of white crab meat for the price of £10.50. An absolute bargain. Most places in Charlestown are charging £15 plus for a crab sandwich. Staff are extremely efficient and friendly. I have been here several times and have never been disappointed. The only downside is that it is an outdoor venue and opening times are a little dependent on weather conditions.

Stopped to grab a sandwich and a coffee and was very impressed with it all. Lovely fresh bread, plenty of filling and top quality ingredients. The coffee that they serve is top quality. It’s so easy to skimp on quality at coffee/sandwich establishments but they certainly don’t do it here. Recommend to anyone.

A great little gem. been here lots of times in the heart of Charlestown, lovey staff, great food highly recommend the crab sandwich and the coffee but never had anything that wasn't great. a little feedback for the owner really.... if I had to be super critical.. I would say a bit more outside weather protection like a sun sail the next time you are doing any improvements so you get more customers in more of the time but take nothing away this place is great:)

A lovely, cute little eatery, nestled at in a small courtyard off the main road down to the harbour, just adjacent to the inner dock. Some outdoor tables and seating. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. Clearly strive to provide a warm and good service. We had the cream tea in a box to takeaway, as I was heading home that day and wanted to take one home with me. £3.50 for the freshly baked scone, small pot of jam, small tub of clotted cream and disposable cutlery (biodegradable) and a napkin. Also included a takeaway cup of tea (also biodegradable). It was truly a fantastically tasting scone. Clearly home made and presented in the takeaway box beautifully! £3.50 is also an excellent price and great value for money. Would be great to take away and eat on the beach or harbour wall!If I hadn’t had a lunch reservation elsewhere, I would have definitely tried the pasty’s and sandwiches on offer. We ended up in The Galley after leaving the Harbourside Inn along the road - we'd left after seeing they were charging £9 for a jacket potato and £7-8 for a sandwich. More than we were willing to pay! The Galley is an outside cafe with plenty of seating in the grounds and it was very easy for 7 of us to sit together. We ordered 6 paninis and 7 drinks - I couldn't eat of the menu as there wasn't a Gluten Free option - total £32 ... half the cost of the sandwiches alone not including drinks from the previous eatery. The coffee was hot, the hot chocolate was delicious and the paninis (only £3.50) were huge and jam-packed with fillings - looked like they should cost much more than we'd paid. The serving staff were also very pleasant and didn't seem phased with our order for 7 - all meals came together - despite them being busy with other orders as well. Would return in an instant.

We have been walking the SW coast path around Cornwall from N Devon and The Galley wins our customer service prize in over 270 coastal miles covered so far. Arriving just as the cafe was closing we were greeted by a friendly smile and tasty suggestions to bolster our flagging energy levels. Delicious warm pasties, coffee cake and flapjack were all washed down by good coffee from the re-switched on espresso machine, whilst we enjoyed the view from one of the outdoor tables. A very different experience when compared with some cafes in other parts of Cornwall where they have thought it too much trouble to serve customers just before closing time let alone after it! We were even offered water bottle top ups without having to ask.

My Mum had a crab sandwich which was pack with white crab meat and my son had a sausage roll. All were delicious and couldn't fault the quality. A nice little find when we were looking to have a late lunch. I had a panini which was lovely and very hearty, my husband had a pasty which he said was very good (high praise from a pasty lover).

Stopped here for a small spot of lunch and we had the most amazing pasties!! Best ones we had all holiday!!It's just a shame the seating is only outside and we were pestered by birds.

The kid in me wanted to go to the beach, explore the cove, but she was wanting her scone with cream and jam. We had a bit of a stroll around the harbour, not really much here to be honest, after looking at a couple of places we chose here. The staff were very friendly, everything about this place has a good family feel to it. The service was good, price average, prices you expect to pay for a coffee when you're out. We sat in the top corner, it was quite busy in here so had to wait for a table to be free. I can't see myself visiting this village again, but if I do I would definitely pop in here for a coffee.Just like any coastal town, don't leave your food unattended, just be wary of the gulls.

Dad and I stopped by St Austell for a couple of hours to peruse the harbour area. We got a bit peckish so decided to stop by at The Galley, despite it pouring with rain and only outdoors seating on offer. The staff were extremely bubbly and friendly. The place was busy despite the grotty weather - clearly popular! The staff suggested I try a pasty - apparently very good! I'm not a fan of onions though, so opted for a Brie & bacon sandwich, and a flapjack. The food was delicious and so fresh, even the bread! The flapjack was nice and gooey. Couldn't fault the food at all! Very generous amount of Brie in the sandwich, and all for a great price. We managed to snag one of the tables with an umbrella, and the staff very kindly provided us with pieces of cardboard to use to sit on, to save getting wet bottoms! All in all, a delightful experience despite the rain. Would love to re-visit on a sunny day. Thanks for the great food & service!

Best visited when not raining as seating is outside and the table brollies do not keep the rain off! On the plus side, very friendly, enthusiastic service. Had a hot chocolate (much too strong & sugary - wished I'd gone for the coffee!), slice of lemon drizzle cake (fine) and flapjack (far too sickly sweet and did not give the impression of fresh/home baked).

Excellent food and super value for money. Change from a tenner for two steak pasties - delicious and fresh out of the oven and two mugs of tea. Homemade cakes just £1 a slice. Can't go wrong and topped off with a lovely view of Charlestown. Just go there if you are visiting!!

Great selection of sandwiches on offer, along with pasties and homemade cakes. There is a lovely seating area outside with a great view of the harbour. The staff are lovely and helpful. Have been about 5 times now for lunch and I would definitely recommend it!!

Limited outdoor-only seating could be a problem if wet! A bit of a queue and a short wait for food, but worth it for individually prepared fare. Portions generous - we could probably just about have managed with one sandwich between us! (Incidentally, should be listed here under Charlestown, not St Austell!)

Lovely experience in this cafe - friendly staff, beautiful views and delicious cake. Well placed at the end of the coastal path too.

Just had The Drake and the Mrs Perryman. Both came with plenty of chips, the actual duck dishes were outstanding, really nice. We will be returning to try another dish when we return next year. We were lucky to have crispy skin as well. We spotted the sign for the duck Truck while we were driving to our cottage in Tintagel and decided to give it a go during our stay. We were not disappointed. Top local produce, by the farmer. Keep up the good work, we'll be back
