Paninis soft like bread. No crispness at all. No side salad or crisps apparently due to waste. You can pay for it though. Soft panini looked very sad on its own (and expensive). Surely you could ask customer when they order if they want side salad, then it wouldn’t be a waste !!!!

Had breakfast or brunch here with family 3 times in the last week. Service received from the three friendly ladies in the cafe was excellent and the food was very tasty. Happy to recommend. The attached gift shop also well worth a look.

Warm and friendly service in relaxing surroundings. The coffee and cake was delicious and enjoyed our time at the coffee shop. If you are in the area and wish a coffee visit the Gallery

We only stopped for coffee which was very nice, but the aroma of freshly cooked breakfast was amazing. The coffee shop is at the back of a Arty Craft Shop which also sold nice bone china.

Just popped in for quick snack & had the most delicious lasagne & quiche....home cooking at its best. Weather was nice enough to eat outside rather than in and good service by one very helpful lady. For a quality light lunch or just tea/coffe and delicious home baked cake this is the place Lovely gift shop also worth a visit

Excellent staff and the food itself was filling and delicious. Couldn't fault the attentiveness of the staff. Once they were aware of you, they made helpful suggestions and ensured that we were happy with our seats and the food. Would go again.

Called in on chance and had a pot of tea for 2. Great value (£2.80) Didn’t eat but the cakes looked great. Menu for hot food and sandwiches quite extensive but at good prices. Free Parking nearby. Great fancy goods attached to the cafe and well worth a look.

This is a pretty average cafe tucked into the back of a shop on Lanchester High Street. It only has a few tables but even so the staff seemed to be struggling to cope with the "demand" , we almost got up and left, when we did order though the food came quickly. For the size of the place there is a decent range on the menu, the portion sizes are tiny though, certainally not a place to go if you are hungry. My corned beef pie was somewhat thin and tasteless with the smallest jacket potato I have every seen and a spoon of coleslaw and sliver of salad, the price was decent for what you got. It is also cash only. It is clean and could easily be a cracking little place, maybe it was an off day but as it stands I won`t be rushing back. It didn`t strike me as a place to bring children to.

Staff were very helpful and offered a good choice of ingredients for a freshly made tuna salad sandwich. Service was quick and able to take away. Perfect with a midweek treat of a generously proportioned lemon meringue pie. The cafe is tucked away at the back of the gift shop which had a lovely range including leather purses and bags.

Looks nice inside and out. Clean and tidy throughout. Made to feel unwelcome throughout visit we were ignored no smiles or hello. Ordered an afternoon tea no gateaux slice as advertised instead we got slice of loaf cake, a cold hard scone (tasteless) half a sandwich and a tea. Some of the meals sounded nice on the menu and everything was reasonably priced. However due to experience we would not return.

Lovely little cafe above a quirky gift shop on the main street in Lanchester. My scone was lovely, and my daughters salmon pate with toast excellent. Good coffee too!

The coffee was erved in rather small cups (OK we asked for small) but was very good. My Scone was delicious and my daughter's salmon pate with toast excellent and a good portion. Just right for a light lunch. Pleasant helpful staff and a quirky and interesting craft / gift shop on the ground floor - all well worth a visit.

Horrible pub the bar staff are bullies and I really had a horrible experience due to the behavior of locals inside.

Please please beware this restaurant which we have been going to for several years has a large vegan option on the menu just out of interest yesterday as we found out there chips are not Vegan we asked how the rest of there food was cooked specifically the vegan dogs which we had just ordered to be told they along we all other options were fried in the deep fat fryer along with all there meat products !!!! The poor lady who served us was so apologetic BUT THIS IS NOT VEGAN AND IS HORRENDOUS!!! This is not Vegan and we will be taking this matter further so please please AVOID!!!! We have never enquired before as the place is lovely and usually a restaurant with so many options you feel they understand what precautions need to be in place The thought we have eaten here is just shocking

Overall: Food: Brunch/Coffee Spot Most definitely Durham’s finest breakfast/brunch spot and it seems we were lucky to be seated within two minutes (a queue quickly formed) The breakfast was delicious and I felt worth every penny despite it not being that big. The service was slow but they acknowledged it before anything was said and the coffee was disappointing but neither enough to merit a deduction of stars overall. Such lovely place and the cakes whilst quite expensive (£3.95 a slice to take away!) were more generous in portion size and really, really tasty. Not dry and crumbly like most places. What I liked: • Good, friendly service • Really inspiring menu • Lovely presentation • Delicious food • Plenty of options What I didn’t like: • The Americano wasn’t hot enough • Service was quite slow Do I recommend going? YES Will I go again? YES Was it good value? REASONABLY Price Point: $$
