Always the best service and food. Wouldn't get my fish and chips from anywhere else. They deliver and will cook fresh to order. Their own fishcakes and sticky BBQ ribs are amazing! My husband loves theIr southern fried chicken. Fish isn't too shabby either! All round great food.

Great fish and chips,good portions, friendly staff. My only critique would be the batter, which could be more seasoned ,otherwise great food.

Your local chippy. You might have to wait a while at peak times but that's only testament to the quality of the food. If you're in a hurry, phone in your order first and then just collect it. Cash and cards accepted, although there is a minimum spend amount they accept if you pay by debit or credit card. Never a bad meal and I recommend the place.

Best fish and chips I’ve had in a very long time! Came back to visit parents in hockley and there are 100’s of fish and chips where I live now but the Fryery is the best I’ve had in years! Highly recommend their Irish curry sauce!!

ordered 2 king boxes for my birthday! Staff were very lovely over the phone and helpful when it came to adding more to my order later on (soon before my collection time) food hot and ready for me when I arrived. Food was lovely and there was plenty to go around even with some to spare! 10/10 would recommend. Great food great staff overall amazing!

The food never disappoints in the fryery! Everything is always cooked to perfection, and the staff are always friendly and quick to help. Would definitely recommend the ribs and the wings. The only negative is it’s so difficult to make my mind up to decide what to order!

Step into Hockley's local Chip Shop, The Fryery. Where potatoes achieve their highest destiny and the chips are so good, you'll want to hug a potato farmer in gratitude. We have been getting our Fish (or Ribs) and Chips form the Fryery most Saturdays for over 20 years, locally, I wouldn’t bother with any where else, there is no point, i defy you to find better, you will not, its impossible, pointless even trying, wasting your time. Its the Fryery or nothing. Don’t miss out, it will be your loss, no where else comes close, thay are all just poor imitations, you cant say I haven’t warned you. Get yourself down there and enjoy 👍👍👍 Can’t give them 5 stars, its not enough, im turning up to 6

Been here a few times and the food is great: fish and chips, pulled pork, grilled chicken wrap all excellent and freshly cooked too. Staff always friendly and informed, would recommend to anyone

Beef burger was disgusting the chips where poor but the ribs was nice shame about the rest, and a 20 min wate definitely was not worth it.

The bbq chicken 8 piece was the best chicken I've ever had the bbq sauce was scrumdidlydumtios and the staff where wonder full

Busy on xmas eve, the staff worked hard and did well.

Nice quality fish and chips takeaway, with burgers, etc. as well. Can be hit and miss with choice after 7pm, and prices seem to have gone up quite a bit. Service can be slow at times, and check your order.

Let me start by saying the food here is very tasty. They have a good selection and the prices are very reasonable, but they need to get their service and timings under control. I shouldn't be standing there waiting 20 minutes for pulled pork chips and watching you add my same order to an online order for people who haven't arrived yet. Please learn to properly expedite food. They must have put all the prepared pork on those orders as well because there was barely any on my order. Everything takes way too long and it has only gotten worse over time. It's so disappointing because the food is good.

Can’t cater for those with nut allergies as everything is fried together and they serve deep fried snickers bars. So have stopped buying from here. Food was expensive for the portions and average in taste.

May 2023: Pulled pork and bacon roll 10/10 Amazing. The photo doesn't do it justice. Lovely light batter on the cod, generous chip portion size, medium fed two of us. Good pricing too.

Bought a battered mars bar and chips and I have to say it was the most flavourful mouth watering battered mars I’ve ever had and is the best fish and chip shop in this area 100% recommend the service is great also got my food within 15 of calling the food was very hot also.

Had a delivery for 5 people fir Friday lunch, excellent , cooked to perfection, couldn’t believe the size of the medium portion.

As always a lovely fish and chips, crispy batter and big portion size! Well worth the money & friendly happy staff. We always use this chippy and always recommend!

Just had our traditional Good Friday fish and chips. Ordered at 4.30, delivered as promised within half hour. Food was piping hot and the fish was lovely and meaty. Never disappoints. Thank you.

Just had another lovely chicken shish kebab. Chicken always moist and tasty and the salad is really nice. I had one from a kebab shop and it was ok, but definitely the fryery is my first choice for chicken shish kebabs.

Tried out the Fryery’s new menu for a change tonight. Funky chips were recommended, definitely a winner! Had the smoked pulled pork chips and they were a meal in itself. Looking forward to trying the other options. We also had cod and southern fried chicken which as always were amazing and cooked to perfection. Thanks guys!

Great local fish and chips went Saturday about 7pm with my grandchildren .Have alot of staff getting through the orders as quick as they could .Have alot of staff and all very polite and nice did everything with a smile .

As before we had delivery tonight the fish was lovely the chips were edible but had been in the hot plate a while, not fresh as fish so spoilt the meal especially a while for delivery 😋 and the money meal cost.

Waited almost 30 mim for fish and chips and they still got the order wrong

Absolutely gutted with the service tonight; we use this chippy a lot phoned through an order tonight ( as we always do) to be told come down it’s ready as soon as you get here- get there 20 mins later expecting it to be wrapped and ready to go as it always is to then have to wait 10 minutes ; so 30 minutes from order for a small cod and chips… which according to the staff is how long it takes cook.

Cheaper options are available for the same quality

Have been going here now for a number of years, but have to say, lately the quality has gone somewhat downhill. The cod and chips appeared to be dry as if re-fried. Will now travel further in future to purchase elsewhere. Shame really.

Shop didn't know what a curried chip roll was. Waited 20 mins for a cremated sausage in batter and undercooked small cod which was mostly raw and inedible, 1st and last visit there. Stank of old fryer oil. I recommend you avoid.

Amazing.. fresh and delicious as always. We have been regular customers for 2 years now. We use this chip shop at least Once a week. Working and juggling work and kids we can place an order and it's delivered within 3o min. The delivery guy is very friendly and polite. The staff in the shop always happy to help. Just ordered tonight's tea. The chicken is really fresh the kids nuggets are fresh chicken breast and no process meat. The veggi burger is the best veggi burger I have ever had. Comes with salad and it's delicious. The ribs in Jack Daniels sauce is lovely to die for. The meat is not dry it's tender and juicy. When we get fish it's always cooked to order so fresh and the batter is always light and crispy. I can honestly say I have not had a bad order yet and we have had many orders. They are always quick to deliver and it's always hot and they just can't do enough for you. They cater for allergies and vegetarians and have a huge menu to please everyone. I think it's the best chips shop around and we would never use another chip shop. A very happy customer x

Waited ages. Staff appeared stressed and at one point all went out the back while there was a shop full of people. Ended up getting my order wrong. And the quality of the food wasnt great. Wont be going back in a hurry.

Used to be really good but the plaice and chips we had last night was really poor. They didn't smell right in the car on the way home and although the fish was passable, the chips were awful. Soggy and like the oil had been used for something else. The potatoes hadn't been peeled and they had an odd, soapy taste. The wally was soft and too sweet. Not impressed especially as we'd waited ten minutes while it was cooked.

The standard has gone down. Like the idea of fish being cooked to order but unfortunately it was very greasy. Chips were small bits as if the ends of potatoes were used.

Great food and brilliant staff, just prices are slightly higher however given that it's only one in hockley high street nothing else should be expected and quality of food definitely balances it out👍

I have been going to The Fryery for years. It has really nice fish and chips, price is really good and the staff are very friendly. It does get quite busy on a Friday evening, but you don't have to wait too long.

Good fish and chips, however chips could be crisper. However, recommended.

Food is always great, never had any issues with that. Most staff are always very friendly and the owner is a nice bloke that gets stuck in. My only criticism is the queue system, it confuses most people as it's at the back of the shop, past all of the waiting customers and is never enforced. Not the end of the world though, won't stop me returning

Chips like cardboard and dry Fish. Not great and I was looking forward to it. Not my first time here and normally excellent fish and chips. This was lunchtime but chips were dry and hard like they were yesterday’s . Not sure I will be back to try again.

Exceptionally fresh fish and the batter was light and crispy. Service was quick and effishent!
