A great little food spot at Rayleigh station. The owner, Wendy, is so warm and friendly and the portions are far from stingy; for just £2.80, I got two thick slices of high quality granary bread, slathered in good quality butter (how I like my toast). The station grill is a staple to locals and it’s not hard to see why.

Be careful with this place! If the staff notices during your order that you are not from Essex, let alone from another country, then at best you will only be threatened with public insults, vulgar words, but you have to expect a fight, I barely avoided a beating, but the racist behavior of both ladies from the staff qualifies for prosecutorial charges.

Been here before many years ago but I had forgotten about this gem of a place. Good menu, sensible prices (eg mid week 2 courses for £16, 3 for £20) and great food. My garlic bread with caramelised onions was huge and delicious. Lasagne for main was excellent. No complaints from the rest of the group either so I'd be happy to recommend it!

I can not thank all of the staff, some I didn't get the name of, Jane (especially as she literally done everything!), Sarah, Claire, and Cain. Everybody went above on beyond for everything and I can never be thankful enough for how smooth and perfect the whole day went. I cannot recommend the Rochford hotel enough for you wedding. They make it personal, not generic. Thank you so much for everything ❤️
