NGLs is the best fish and chip shop in Rayleigh. My food was delivered well within the stated time and was beautifully cooked and hot. Highly recommend

Lovely chips. I had some food from here while passing through.

The food here is great, however delivery is frequently longer than stated and you are not kept informed. When you ring the phone is rarely answered. I understand they are busy but I couldn’t even contact them for an update on an order that stated 45 mins delivery and had still not arrived an hour and 20 mins later.

It's a bit on the expensive side for a chippy but really nice. Large sausages and saveloys but the OAP fish was very small. Good selection including fried chicken. Not over generous with the chips they serve them in a tray but sufficient enough.

NGL is our go to for fish n chips but rather disappointed tonight. My husband remarked..are they doing oven chips now?! The chips were not good...they were dry and not the normal quality we are used 😒

A lovely fish supper freshly fried.

Visited about lunch time today, and was far from impressed with the customer service shown. The man behind the counter (not sure if owner) came across rather rude. He gave an impression he couldn't care about the customer, and generally was short and sharp in his approach. As a customer, this doesn't look good; and made me regret walking into the shop. I was the only customer in there, and I couldn't wait to get out. The other staff that work there; are super (they weren't there at this time) and provide a positive experience when walking into the shop. Aside from that, the food is nice quality; and never had any issues with it.

Fish bights are lovely, the chips are chips.

Delivery was over an hour later than originally stated. Finally received food that was barely warm and chips that hadn't been cooked fully. Won't be using again.

Travel here from Leigh on Sea to visit family and always make sure it ties in with the openning hours. Best fish and chips ever had. Fish is always fantastic with really lovely batter coating and the chips are always amazing. The staff are friendly and helpful, the shop is spotlessly clean and has a real traditional feel about the 'plaice' excuse the punn! Real little gem and sell some unusual options on the menu too. Keep up the good work, you are appreciated by your customers x Ps. If its busy time, we phone through our order in advance.

Really disappointing- besides forgetting my extra saveloy, I have never before had so many black or green chips- surely whoever cuts them or serves them up looks at them? There were several corkers, and I binned lots of chips. This is usually a lovely chippy, but this has put me off chips...

Disappointed 😒 Had fish and chips from here before and no problems, however the chips on this order were very hard and most of them went in the bin. For the price I’d have expected better quality, it’s like they’d been sitting around for ages and kept warm! ☹️ Shame as it was a treat for my wife’s birthday

The cod was lovely, the onion rings are good but not great, like the squid rings I had on my earlier order the batter ends up being a bit too hard and crunchy for my liking.

The fish bights are lovely. The Calamari is good, the crumbs are perhaps a little too hard/crunchy for my taste. The burger is very nice, not much evidence of the 2 slices of cheese I requested, there is cheese just not much. The burger is huge however with plenty of bacon, sauce and onions. I use the present tense as I have about half of it left over for tomorrow.

If you want a whale of cod on a Friday night then this is the place. Its only a small chippy so sometime a bit if a wait as only one serving and also doing just eat orders. But always a nice bit if fish and cooked fresh.

Always excellent chips from NGL's. My son LOVES the kids meals! We have recently moved to the area and NGL's is one of the best in Rayleigh. We will be back for more. :)

Used to live in Rayleigh and used this chippy a lot, it was always spot on. Had cod n chips today the chips were banging but the cod was awful so greasy to the point of being inedible.

It is one of the best chippies around, what I would call an old school chip shop. A great variety of foods for everyone, really great value for money, and never struggle to find something to try. Service is really good and can have a laugh, chat, and banter with everyone working there.

Loved the fish but chips were too pale and had bad bits in, sorry.

First time ordering on the website for delivery (after receiving a flyer) and it was fab. Lots cheaper than ordering through just eat, delivered in 30 mins, great portions. Thanks.

Curry was a bit watery and there was no salt and vinegar on my chips. But battered sausage and chicken wings were nice.

We brought fish and chips from NGL last night and my partner got a chicken wrap, he has been up all night with food poisoning! Wouldn’t recommend.

This establishment has extremely poor food and even worse customer service. If I was able to attache images of said poor quality food I would, I've worked and managed fish and chip shops for years. I also have twenty plus years experience of being self employed. I have NEVER spoken to a customer with the distain in which the management spoke to me...!! Disgusting service...!! And is truly damaging to Just Eats reputation. I wouldn't eat from this establishment again if they were paying me..!! As a former proprietor myself I would kindly suggest the current proprietor of said shop offer (demand) his staff take a customer awareness course, the current staff are loosing the establishment business. I'm an ex Taxi driver/proprietor from the same town and word of mouth can be the very best or very much the worst kind of business..!! Especially in a small town like Rayleigh, bad advice will travel fast.

Unfortunately, one of the worst fish and chips we have had in long while. The chips were hard (not crunchy hard, just hard all the way through) the fish was not particularly tasty and the batter on the fish very soft. We had had servings here before and they have been ok, so perhaps this was an off day. After one of the best fish and chips we have had the other day (albiet in Glastonbury), this was very poor by comparison.

Charged me £2 for a small portion of chips.Were some of the worst i have ever had.Ate 4 and threw the rest away.Most southerners have no idea how real fish & chips should taste.Disappointed
