Gambero D'oro Rayleigh in Rochford

A large group of us dined here and had a great experience. The food was excellent and the service was very friendly and attentive. There's something for everyone, either from the 2 or 3 course deals or the main menu offering pizzas and other specials. My seafood linguine was fantastic, the portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable. We will certainly be back again.

Had a fillet steak tasted like it had been sitting in blood for a long time and tasted old. Didn't make much of a complaint really just mentioned it to the waitress and said I would rather not pay full price but they only knocked off a sambuca coffee. On the way out my daughter heard the waitress saying I was an awkward customer and funny looks from staff ! Usually lovely there but not happy with tonight.

Lovely lunch with the girls. We ate from the lunch menu and it was such good value and decent size portions. The staff are smiley and not intrusive. Will definitely be going back.

Made a reservation with baby in push chair. Restaurant is cozy we're give a large table to accommodate baby. Food was great, tasty, well seasoned packed with flavour. Price was reasonable, great deals are available. Lovey couple of hours. Many thanks.

I visited here for my birthday last year and it was great! I've lived in Italy so my expectations for Italian food is high. I would have to say that the food my family and I had here was as close to authentic Italian food you could get. It was delicious! The staff there were welcoming and kind and the atmosphere was brilliant! I would highly recommend a visit here!

Wasn’t happy with the service - booked a table for 8pm and was not seated until 8.20pm. This was due to our table still being occupied… If you book a table for a certain time, you expect to be seated at that time. People should be made aware of a slot and that they need to be out of the restaurant at a particular time. For example , the people who booked before us should have booked for 5.30pm, needing to be out for 7.30pm , and then have a 30 minute grace period. This would make the service 10x better. The staff were only apologetic when we moaned … they then sh*t themselves a bit and offered us free drinks … which was a nice gesture but was prompted. I will say that the food was lovely. I’ve been to Italy and my family is Italian and the food was of a good standard. The best Italian in Rayleigh in my opinion (food wise)

My wife and daughter had a great lunch today. Chefs fish special was excellent, we had not booked but the waitress got us a table, would definitely recommend.very busy the staff work there socks off. Can’t wait to return.

Excellent food and service. I ate at a strange time so only a small number of diners, hence lower score on atmosphere. I’m sure at busier times I’d rate higher. Very nice.

Amazing restaurant Family favourite!

A group of 6 of us went for lunch. We had the set menu. The food is delicious, the portions are a good size and it is very reasonably priced. Lovely vegetarian options available. Restaurant is clean and the staff are friendly. Several paid parking lots nearby for anyone driving.

This Restaurant has a superb menu, the staff working there cannot I can find no fault with them, perfection. I now need a stick to walk either, I discovered they also have a disabled toilet downstairs. I cannot find any fault with this amazing Italian Restaurant

First time last time bad experience. Booked table 1 month ago wasn’t asked if I wanted upstairs or downstairs. Table upstairs in an empty room, felt as though I had the Plague, no atmosphere on our own in an empty upstairs room, no service. Left before we ordered.

First visit here and won’t be the last ! Can honestly say the best Italian food I’ve had outside of Italy! Had the spaghetti Vongole …… very good ! House Merlot was really nice and bread and butter pudding 👍👍👍

Been twice now and both times been good. My little girl loves pasta and she said here was the best pasta she ever tasted! Will be back!

We booked to go there as we'd heard it was a really nice restaurant...we found the staff quite rude, short and uninviting..The menu is quite good and extensive but my daughter found a hair in her meal which definitely wasn't hers, we let the waitress know who just said sorry, took the hair but no offer of a newly made meal and no real apology even when we left. Won't be going back, there's better and more inviting Italian restaurants locally.

Fantastic pizzas as usual, often been here and when you have eaten here, no other pizza will be good enough once you've eaten here. Dessert was very nice too and the service is always good

We came here for the first time to celebrate our Golden Wedding anniversary. My daughter was allowed to come a bit early to decorate the table which was upstairs. There were 13 of us and we all ordered something different but everything was served at the same time and was lovely and hot. The service was excellent and the menu extensive and reasonably priced.

Went to Gambero's for our sons 18th birthday meal and have to say the service and food were exemplary. Pizza's were superb and full of toppings and the pasts dishes all very tasty as well. All in all I would recommend this place in a heartbeat.

Another top quality gem tucked away in Rayleigh. Had a wonderful lunch. The food was delicious, the staff were professional, the wine was excellent. If you enjoy the finer things in life (and good Italian food is certainly one of those) go here.

Great venue. Really good service from attentive staff. Massive portions of well cooked tasty food. Plenty of room upstairs. Excellent menu, competitively priced. Well worth a visit. The set Menu for lunch is exceptional value at £11.95. This is possibly the best restaurant in Rayleigh 👍

A good evening at Gambero D'oro with our friends. Overall food was tasty especially the 'special' Crab linguini which my wife and I chose for mains. Our friends also enjoyed their pasta main courses. Starters and garlic bread also good. Only reason for not giving 5* was my wife's profiteroles desert which was covered in a warm chocolate sauce not nice at all. Also, although it was busy in the restaurant, the service wasn't especially welcoming and friendly. Overall though we would go back

Nice lasagne bit burnt & dry but still ate it

Food was outstanding. Didn't book but found us a table . I was only drinking blackcurrant and water and my husband bottled beer but the food was presented wrll and delicious to taste. Would highly recommend for the future and would return.

Heard a lot about this restaurant, it did not disappoint Had to book several days ahead , as it’s very popular The welcome , service & food was faultless Vegetarian menu excellent. Nice well lit restaurant . Definitely going to return

2nd visit. This time was for lunch. Good menu and we both enjoyed it. The service was ok but not as good as it is in the evening. When I rang to book I wasn't impressed with how I was answered very brusk/offhand doesn't give a good impression.Being polite doesn't cost anything being offhand does. If it had been my first time I would not have bothered. We will be going back but it will be in the evening.

Wow what a find ! Amazing food and generous portions I couldn’t manage all my chicken Caesar salad. My partner had spaghetti bolognaise which he loved. The staff were lovely! a special shout out to the lady who looked after us (pink blouse) . We will definitely go back. We went for lunch but we’ll be back for dinner. I’ll leave room for dessert next time .

Lovely food and great atmosphere.

Our first visit here and had heard good things about the food not so good about the staff. Went on a hot night but the door was open so a nice breeze and not too loud inside but very busy, which is always a good sign.Servioce was a bit slow initially and we had to wait a while before someone came to take our drink order. The food was lovely though and the pasta is top notch. Fab Zucchini too and amazing Tiramisu. The staff are not rude as such but they could do with being a bit warmer and smile abit more. Reasonably priced and also food piping hot cant stand it when its not so that was good. Lovely touch with the free limoncello to end the meal too! Will definitely return.

We went on a Saturday night and it was hands down the best Italian meal we have ever had. The service was amazing and the food was outstanding. Highly recommend!

The food was exceptional. We thoroughly enjoyed it excellent value for money . Staff were friendly and helpful. The only reason I didn't score it 5/5 was we were put on a tiny table for 2, which was too small, and another couple who came on later was given a much bigger table with a lot more room. Which annoyed us. But would still recomend.

Went for a birthday meal, pleasant staff and enjoyed our evening.

Went early so was the only customers but the manager seemed less than happy to be open all day. Food however was excellent, I hear it has a lot more atmosphere in the Evenings.

What a Superb Meal and Experience. My 65th Birthday is complete. This restaurant is the best in Rayleigh. Competitively priced but with five star quality and service. Good portions and the food is outstanding. I was recommended to try the Sardinian Fish Stew. I’d always live the T-bone here, which I still recommend. However I decided to try the fish stew and it is truly amazing. If you like mussels, clams, king prawns and calamari with potatoes and veg. This is a must try. Cannot recommend this highly enough

Came here with the family to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Great food from beginning to end. All meals served hot, with fresh ingredients and satisfied customers! Good wine too and service from our waiter was excellent. Would highly recommend for small groups. It does get a bit noisy upstairs for those wanting a more intimate meal.

Had the mid-week set menu which had lots of choice and was very good value. We all enjoyed our food and found the staff to be excellent. Highly recommend the house white wine too.

Great atmosphere, excellent staff and superb tasting food. Highly recommend. The only down side, we sat near the door, not normally an issue but anyone smoking were stood right outside the door, there is no official smoking area and you get the wiff of smoke when the door is opened.

Very attentive Staff and a good range of dishes fundamentally Italian, recommend the Sicilian Fish Stew (if you have a good appetite), and their Panna Cotta dessert has my Wife's full approval"

Visited for lunch with my daughter. The food was delicious and the service quick and polite. I had mussels for a starter and lamb shank for mains it was very very good and the portions were large. Will go again

I have reviewed Gambero in Rayleigh before and went for the 3rd time last night and again an issue with the staff. Bit miserable, rather rude. Lasagna is lovely and definately recommend but go to the Benfleet one instead. Much better. Just seen lot's of recent comments about the service so can;t be just me, I wont be returning.

We were recommended Gambero D'oro by family and friends.. unfortunately we experienced terrible customer service. My partner made a human error of booking a table at the Benfleet restaurant. The waitress with long brown hair wearing a leopard print shirt made us feel unwelcomed and...

Nice restaurant. Can't fault the staff, all super friendly and helpful. Tidy restaurant, clean, upstairs and downstairs to get you away from the front door if you wish. Only let down was my serloin steak was way too chewy. But the rest was lovely . The wife's seafood pasta was a little cold but she said it was nice.

Poor service , rude management . Food for a large party all served at different times , kept having to ask for more drinks , as per previous comment a little bit of salad with hot food . when you see kitchen staff all lining...

Having been here once before and enjoyed it, we booked a table for our girls Christmas do. I wasn’t impressed with the service at all. It was verging on rude by one of the waitresses, she was visibly irritated by us and no smiles etc...

Went at lunchtime. Good food, good lunchtime menu. Friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable seating. Would recommend. Car park close by.
